We had a morning rental for 2 hours, which I think was more than enough to make a few loops around the bay. The staff member was very courteous and thorough with taking us through how to operate the boat, restrictions on where to go, and making sure we had everything (even provided blankets since it was an overcast day). The boat is easy to handle, and it's pretty easy to follow where you're allowed to go. We saw plenty of wildlife - sea lions, birds, and best of all otters, including a mom and her pup swimming exactly at the boat dock. There is street parking right in front, and a hotel bathroom in the same building. They also provide binoculars for close up viewing. A good way to explore more of Morro Bay!

Before buying tickets I figured I should ask if any whales had been spotted recently and I was told that they have been seen almost daily since the whales are in constant migration throughout the year. Still a little reluctant, but bought tickets for 1:30 and I'm so glad I did. The crew was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and informative. They knew exactly how far out to go (about 3 miles out) and floated us near multiple whales. Closest one was around 20 yds from the boat. This was our first whale watching outing for my whole family and Lost Isle definitely delivered. Well worth the money. Looking forward to doing it again for sure.

We sat in the front and experienced "flying boat" - as in the boat was rocking so hard it left the water for a bit. Lesson learned for me - in choppy weather make sure to always ride in the back. The Captain was extremely knowledgeable and customer service was flawless. He knew the ocean very well. When he realized we were getting pretty nervous he made sure that the boat stayed in a position that limited the rocking. He kept checking on us to make sure we were doing ok. We saw whales, otters, birds, sea lions, and porpoises. It was amazing seeing them in the wild and they were beautiful. Make sure to dress in layers. It was cold in the beginning but warmer when we were heading back to the dock.

It's was super lame like I understand they have a job todo but the way it was handled in the beginning was not professional with kids around. Other then that I've always have had a great time in the heat we even went when the lake was dried up on the Harris creek side and camping one year and it rained we still had a great time. We rented a couple of jet skis from out of town and acquired a cabin at Lake nacimiento resorts for the weekend. However we dropped the ball on renting a boat or pontoon. I searched up boat rentals in my area, and to my surprise there were very few. Lake life 805 answered immediately and was very helpful and reasonable $$ about booking my reservation.. we booked a 10 passenger pontoon which had an amazing sound system, and new limousine style seating arrangements. They emailed over my rental contract, and even offered to have a copy available for my convenience if I did not have a printer. Which was very very helpful in this last minute situation.
