We had originally planned on renting a boat on our own for the day, but having no experience driving a boat and little knowledge of wakeboarding, I thought that our chances for success were pretty slim. Lots of rare animals including kangaroos, bald eagles, capybara, spider monkey, python, etc Unique up close experiences including feeding kangaroos bread and bananas, feeding capybara corn and lettuce, holding a tarantula, petting a porcupine, alligator, river otters hunt for live fish, etc Facilities included clean bathroom/shower, kitchen area with running water, fridge, grill, fire pit, shaded central hang out area with couches, picnic tables, kids games, and parking. Spoiler-wise - I was very happy that I did not read too many reviews prior to our visit. The surprise of meeting each animal was a delight, and probably would not have been as joyful if I knew what to expect or was expecting to meet a specific animal that was not part of the tour. Don't read further if you'd like to have a similar experience as us! *** We arrived early and were immediately greeted by Lisa, an animal caretaker veteran who runs the rescue with her husband. I obviously did not do enough research because I expected more guests, but quickly realized that it was just our small group of 2. Lisa purposely keep tours to a smaller group to reduce stress to the animals. Lisa was incredibly knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and clearly passionate about her work. She made us feel comfortable right away, and tailors the tour based off her observations of us, the guests. We interacted with owls, a hawk, river otters, a talking raven, teenage capybaras, an elder spider monkey, a sloth, a laughing kookaburra, an armadillo, a ruffled lemur, and many more critters! Each animal interacted with us on their own accord. She never forced an animal to do something they did not want to. After the tour, she welcomed us to explore the facilities and we saw some warthogs, eagles, and a fennec fox. All I can say is that the price was worth it! My childhood dreams of being a zookeeper fulfilled.

He does his very best to put you onto a very high quality animal and you will not be disappointed! My son has shot three deer over the years with Chad along with a number of wild boar. Every hunt is a great time! Chad and his guides are super patient with not only adults but with children. He was very patient with my son on all his hunts, even though he missed several real times. We reached out to The Work Ranch and spoke with Kelly Ranch to see if she would take us for a ride on her horses. This horseback ride was the highlight of our trip! What's amazing is that you go for a ride through the Work Family owned Acres of land that is absolutely gorgeous out there riding through the hills. Since the 1880s, the Work family has owned and operated the 12,000-acre ranch. This is a personal tour with no other people outside of your group. The horses are beautiful and very well taken care of. At the end of our ride, The Ranch family asks for you to sign their wall of guests that have visited along with a pin to put on the map where you came from. Very cool! I know this is not a part of the visit but Kelly Ranch shared some of her home made ice cream made at the ranch: she also makes her own butter and yogurt. This ranch is legit! The Work Family Ranch has been around longer than other horseback riding locations and it's amazing that they do it on their own breathtaking land. Also, The Work Ranch do events to raise money for charity. Thank you Kelly Ranch for taking us out on your day off and taking us out for a ride at the last minute. What a search!!! 3 hours of glassing, hiking, driving and searching thousands of acres of land! However in the end, we found the elusive New Mexico Dahl! Throughout, Mike showed exceptional guide prowess by showing us tracks, markings and possible areas for wild hog, coyote, fox and rams. He is truly know his craft as a guide and I walked away learning multiple tracking lessons. Eventually, Mike spotted my target ram as I spotted something else. This guy had a nice set of horns and was quite the looker. A well placed shot put him down for the count. Not at any time did I ever feel rushed or pushed to take the shot. In addition, Mike (and I) did our best to find a ram. This was not shooting fish out of a barrel and as can be seen a huge open area however Mike knows possible areas of travel and he hit when he found this guy. After pictures were taken and the ram respected and admired, Mike and Luke, his son, gutted him and loaded him up for our drive back miles and miles of land. Once at camp, Luke and Mike skinned and cleaned him and got the ram ready to go to the butcher and the skull and hide ready to go to my taxidermist. They did this quick while still engaging us which I appreciated greatly. Mike treated me like a friend visiting his property and not some stranger. This was so next level that I would most definitely come here again. He even went to town and got me cigarettes, Monster drinks, beer and more water after we asked how far town was...First class treatment is all we have received since we got here. My cousin and I are now getting ready for his hunt as I completed mine obviously. I will add to this review if I can...By the way it has been in the 90s the last two days and the AC in the cabin has been a good send!!! I would recommend Oakridge Outfitters to anyone looking for a nonsense hunt in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada! Such a gem of a place! We first asked her if they have any seafood choices, to which she said "no". Then we asked for a menu, and literally the first thing on the menu was a Salmon salad. We ordered that and a few more dishes and a hot tea. She rolled her eyes at us every time we asked about the dressing on the side or a substitute for a side. And then we asked for a cup of hot tea, and she hands us a clear plastic cup. I told her it would melt and she looked at me with such attitude, as if I said something offensive or inappropriate. She kept huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes. We ended up canceling the whole order and leaving. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or if there's lack of training, but it was very disappointing.

Within an hour, all four of us had our pigs. Once the pigs were gutted and stripped, we went over for dinner with Jeremy and his family. Fantastic food for all, cooked by Jeremy and his family. Then into the bar for drinks and pool. A fantastic experience with everybody. The cabin was clean and well kept, everything you needed. Jim took us to ponchos ranch Saturday morning and we got to see some fantastic views and wildlife. I strongly suggest you try this place. Great people, great food and Fantastic hunting.
