Lovely day at Morro Bay with this boat ride being a real highlight. We had a group of 10 (including…read more2 children) and there was plenty of space on the boat. We had a morning rental for 2 hours, which I think was more than enough to make a few loops around the bay. The staff member was very courteous and thorough with taking us through how to operate the boat, restrictions on where to go, and making sure we had everything (even provided blankets since it was an overcast day). The boat is easy to handle, and it's pretty easy to follow where you're allowed to go. We saw plenty of wildlife - sea lions, birds, and best of all otters, including a mom and her pup swimming exactly at the boat dock. There is street parking right in front, and a hotel bathroom in the same building. They also provide binoculars for close up viewing. A good way to explore more of Morro Bay!

We found a Groupon deal, which brought the cost down a little. Before buying tickets I figured I should ask if any whales had been spotted recently and I was told that they have been seen almost daily since the whales are in constant migration throughout the year. Still a little reluctant, but bought tickets for 1:30 and I'm so glad I did. The crew was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and informative. They knew exactly how far out to go (about 3 miles out) and floated us near multiple whales. Closest one was around 20 yds from the boat. This was our first whale watching outing for my whole family and Lost Isle definitely delivered. Well worth the money. Looking forward to doing it again for sure.

We went a little over time because they were having a hard time finding a while but we eventually found one, we got a small glimpse but it was staying under or just on the surface a lot so not much to see. We did get a great look at some river otters, we had a pack of sea lions swimming alongside the boat for a while which was so cool to watch. We had a great time and it's definitely something we'd consider doing again. They told us they typically have a little better luck with the early tours so we just need to get up earlier and be ready to go next time lol.

Although it wasn't an ideal time for whale watching he took us out 7 miles from the coast & we saw 2 gray whales & plenty of pods of dolphins. On the way back to the marina the wind picked up & we were cruising at 8 knots & the front of the boat dipped in the water. It was exciting & thrilling. This was the highlight of this trip to the central coast. Captain Kevin is awesome & we can't wait to see him again when the peak whale season starts.

We rented a couple of jet skis from out of town and acquired a cabin at Lake nacimiento resorts for the weekend. However we dropped the ball on renting a boat or pontoon. I searched up boat rentals in my area, and to my surprise there were very few. Lake life 805 answered immediately and was very helpful and reasonable $$ about booking my reservation.. we booked a 10 passenger pontoon which had an amazing sound system, and new limousine style seating arrangements. They emailed over my rental contract, and even offered to have a copy available for my convenience if I did not have a printer. Which was very very helpful in this last minute situation. She was on time, but also flexible when she needed to be. She had to navigate Highway 41, a notoriously treacherous stretch of road with 15 MPH hairpin turns. My 85 year old mother, not one to randomly shower praise, said, "Taffy was outstanding. Friendly and concerned about our comfort, helping us get on the shuttle and offering us cold water. Best part, she made the ride very comfortable. She was very cautious and reduced speed considerably on the windy parts of the road - we did not feel like we had to hang on to something keep from slipping around in our seats. If you ever need to hire a shuttle again, I would request Taffy as the driver." I only wish my mother spoke as highly of me. The short story: you absolutely will not regret going on a trip with Maya Sailing Adventures! It's personal, private, beautiful, fun, easy, and so relaxing. The long story: my sister in law's wedding was postponed due to COVID-19. So the day of her wedding we planned a surprise sailing excursion with Captain Terry. My first impression was that he was incredibly easy to plan with. Everything was up to me. I could bring anything I wanted to make it a special night. It was so easy to plan and get all set up! So we set up a 4 hour sail around the bay for 4 people. After 2 hours he would drop my husband and I off and let my sister in law and her fiancé sail together for the last 2 hours. My biggest concern was that it wouldn't feel private enough for such a special occasion. No reason to worry at all, actually it was incredibly intimate and romantic and very private. If you'd like to chat with Captain, you can, but otherwise he is manning the boat and you are on our own in the front of the boat. It was so private and felt like we were on the boat by ourselves. I set up a charcuterie board and wine tasting with 5 different types of wines. Then we ordered a steak dinner from Windows on the Water and served it to them before they set sail on their own. That's the awesome thing about Maya - it's completely customizable for YOU. We sailed around the bay and relaxed and saw so many otters - mommas and babies! And even a baby seagull! Seeing the animals was so fun. My sister in law and fiancé then went out of the bay and sailed a little bit and saw A WHALE! I was so jealous. But seriously- how amazing? I CANT WAIT to do another trip with Captain Terry. One day, I would like to do the same thing but with only my husband and I... But my sister in law and her fiancé had a wonderful time and so did we. It was one of the best date nights of my life and I can't wait to do it again! You won't regret a sail with Captain Terry and Maya Sailing Adventure!
