I was honored to be included in a memorial to scatter the ashes of an extended family member at sea in Morro Bay. Sub Sea Tours provided the Catamaran for the ceremony, including the services of a pilot and captain. The staff provided exceptionally kind and sensitive direction to the bereaved. They let all of us know what to expect, how to handle any seasickness that may arise (which unfortunately did for a few of us but not me, thanks to ginger chews) and advised us that they would position the boat according to wind direction for the scattering. They were clearly prepared for this type of ceremony and very tactful in their interactions with the family. They also quietly pointed out wildlife as we made our way out to the open sea. Overall, the ceremony went off without a hitch and was a beautiful send-off for a beautiful person. Highly recommended if your loved one may have requested this type of celebration of life. read more

Special shout out to the Captain and his lovely tour guide who offered so much valuable info and assistance when needed, one of our young travelers got little sea sick but you had everything we needed to remedy this! The staff was amazing, very knowledgeable and kind. Amy had pocketfuls of ginger candies which she handed out to those of us feeling seasick and was supportive of some young sailors feeling nervous about the waves. This was a great trip! The captain should have his own show in Vegas, very funny comentary on the way out of the harbor. He actually kept us out a little longer making sure we got another look at a blue whale in the area. He even offered to take funny camera pics with a toy whale. read more

Well, we walked right up and within a amount of minutes, we got a two seater kayak and effortlessly were in the water and probably no more than 10 minutes from filling out the forms. And lo and behold we went out to see otters and by the grace of God there was one right there where we Embarked next to the dock. It could've been better. We could've canceled the reservation and seeing what we needed to see. Lol just kidding. We paddle Lead out and in no time saw what we came for. It was effortless and the nice lady that helped us helped me get my big butt down into the kayak without falling in the water lol. I would recommend them highly. On top of that I accidentally left my jacket there and the owner, Adam was kind enough to mail it to me. You don't see that kind of service nowadays. Thank you so much. This was a really excellent tour and such an incredible experience. The captain and tour guide were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the trip really fun. The boat is smaller (which really made the experience so much better since you're closer to the ocean/sealife), so if you get sea sickness- make sure to wear your seabands or take medication first. We saw HUNDREDS of dolphins, quite a few whales, sea otters, sea lions, and truly had a blast. It was the best whale watch tour we've ever done. read more

We started our weekend with whale watching while celebrating my grandmother's 80th birthday. I have been on many whale watching excursions but have never had such an incredible experience. We looked to our left, we looked to our right, and there were whales everywhere! We had up to 10 whales hanging around us for up to an hour. The staff was also incredible when folks got sick. They reminded everyone prior to departure if they needed meds. If people got sick while on the water, they were very supportive. Whale watcjing with Sub Sea Tours was a great experience for my husband and myself. The staff was so kind and informative. I was freezing and the sweet gal that worked there let me borrow a jacket which made the day much more enjoyable. She so made several rounds offering lemon ginger chews and wintergreen for those folks that were feeling a little sea sick. Our captain shared bits of information along the way and really worked hard to find some whales. He so played great music. We only saw one whale but we did get to enjoy her for quite some time. We had a slight wait, since we went on a rainy day, it backed up everyone's schedule. While we visited, a young whale was hanging out in the bay, so not only did we get the "usual" tour, but we also got to see the little guy! (I consider that a huge $40 per person savings!) Great costs, funny guide, my only suggestion would be to mic up the driver, as I couldn't hear him if anyone near me was talking. read more

I had such a great time on the whale watching trip. The captains were really friendly and excited about seeing marine life. They worked really hard to make sure we saw some pretty fantastic creatures. The boat is clean the team is professional and there are bathrooms on the boat. They have some field guides so you can learn about the animals you are seeing. It's a great time. We did stay an hour longer in the water but I enjoyed it. I took my 2 year old and 5 year old on the Sub Sea boat and they both loved it. Super easy introduction to the bay with lots to keep them engaged. Two days later, I took my 5 year old on a whale watching tour through the same company and it was phenomenal! DJ and Amy went above and beyond to make everyone comfortable and help people see the whales. I have been on more than a dozen whale watching boats and these humpbacks put on the best show I have ever seen: chin slapping, breaching, tail lobbing, spy hopping, lunge feeding, etc. There were loads of whales and everyone got great looks! I would highly recommend this company for those of you that have young kids. read more

My brother took me out for my dream birthday to go whale watching, and there were so many whales out right when we got out of the harbor but the boat captain passed all of them and was determined to find orcas the entire trip. He said the whales are always there but we need to find orcas. Although orcas were nice to see, spending the entire boat following them and never attempting to see the other whales was so sad. Then the entire ride back there were no more whales and he just took us back to the harbor. I feel like the captain was jaded because he sees whales everyday all day but forgot that's what we were coming to do once in a lifetime and could have made our day. read more

The captain, DJ, was very personable. It was fun to see how excited he and the hostess, Amy, were when we saw the animals. We saw dolphins in the distance and he took us out there because he "couldn't resist a pod of dolphins". He also took a quick detour to find a minke whale. It was so much fun. We saw humpback spouts, tails, dorsals, fins! A TON of shiny, glittery anchovy, dolphins, sea lions, mama and baby otters. I couldn't have asked for a better tour. I recommend. read more

Fun your! Fun family 45 minute tour! Slowed boat often to see otters and other animals. Can see fish underwater from bottom deck while being fed. Kids also got to stick hand in water during fed. Adorable sea lions. Stays in Bay Area in front of Moro Rock so in view the entire time. Very windy (in July) take extra layer. Educational about animals and informative about the area.
