For those of us that have lived in and visited other areas, this is hardly a deli. The sandwiches are tasty, but a bit overpriced and way under-stuffed. Not a lot of choices for eating establishments in Arcadia, so for some it will have to do. You order at the counter and they bring it over to your table. Ours came after a short wait but one of the sandwiches was wrong. They offered to take it back and remake it but rather than wait, we said we'd eat the one brought. No offer was made to discount the sandwich, that probably would have been thrown away. Both items were good, but a far cry from a "deli" type sandwich. I've been to Arcadia a few times for the awesome and amazing antiques; however, this time I was there so long that we had to eat. I was nervous as I have only eaten at the Tea House and was uncertain of what else I could have in the Antique District. We happened upon the Oak Street Deli. I reluctantly entered and hoped beyond hope that they would have a vegan dish for me--possibly a piece of lettuce and tomato. The interior was a typical diner, but slightly more interesting. I approached the counter and timidly asked if they had any veggie sandwiches. The wonderful young lady behind the counter said, "Tell us what you want and we will accommodate it." WONDERFUL. I slowly rambled off items that I wished to have on my sandwich expecting "no's" with each request. Amazingly they had everything I asked for including ciabatta bread. Happy day. We all ordered and sat down and in a short amount of time, we had our food and man was it good. I know that a veggie sandwich doesn't sound exciting but it was very good. Everyone else's food was delicious as well. The customer service was amazing. We will certainly go back to Oak Street Deli the next trip we take to Arcadia. read more

I've been here a few times when I like to take a break from wandering about the antique shops in Arcadia. The older almost run down interior is appealing. I love the names written all over the walls. You go up to the counter to place your order. They have a decent selection of deli style foods. Plus some bakery products. I've gotten the coconut cake in the past when it's available because it's delicious and I love coconut. Their sandwiches are fresh, well made and as ordered. The people working here are always friendly and greet you with a smile. It can get busy here and they still produce the food fairly quickly. There are tables and booths where you seat yourself. A good stop to grab a bite while out exploring Arcadia or if just passing through the area. read more

I am certainly a fan! After looking through all the antigue shops one starts to develop a hunger! We stopped in this place and found a Great American Ol Mom and Pop type of deli. The service was awesome and everyone was friendly! I ordered an Italian sub and let me tell you, all tasted fresh and cured my hunger! I loved it! Order with a side of potato salad just perfect! This little deli is really located in such a sweet little town. We made a pit stop along our way back to Orlando, and it was a nice break! The BLT had plenty of bacon (always a winner!) the Rueben was very tasty, and the cobb salad too. Like the reviews mention, it is just this cute place where you order at the counter and bring your meal to you. A real winner! My husband and I had a late lunch here while ambling into all the antique shops along Oak. At first it just looked like an old, pretty outdated space. But we hung around long enough to take a look at the menu and it was quite promising. I ordered the Greek Salad and my husband got a Hot Pastrami on Rye and the French Onion Soup. OUTSTANDING! The absolute best salad I've ever had! Diverse, fresh salad greens, excellent delicious dressing, lots of all the right ingredients. I wish I lived here so I could eat here every lunch! My husbands featured fresh ingredients that made all the difference. The toasted rye was crispy and light. The staff here were very sweet and accommodating. It was old Florida at it's best. Employees not wearing masks during food preparation and the place is dirty We are in a pandemic with the COVID-19, yet none of the employees and very few of the customers bother to wear a mask. That is unsatisfactory in our current situation. The employees also do not wear hair coverings of any kind while doing food prep. The food was okay but that is as enthusiastic as I can get about it. My wife only ate part of her Cuban Sandwich, she said it was "mediocre at best". My club sandwich was okay. The potato salad was horrible and I am being kind. The men's room was filthy. Don't let the small, shabby exterior dissuade you; this place has some amazing food. It has been in business for decades ad it is easy to see why. For such a small deli, it offers a fairly extensive menu and even several different choices of bread for your sub/sandwich. My turkey Swiss sub was mega-fresh and did not sit heavy in my stomach at all afterwards, which is a major plus when you stop in for lunch in the middle of a day of shopping. The deli has several walls which are 100% covered in what is obviously encouraged Majik Marker graffiti, which doesn't detract from the atmosphere at all but instead becomes a conversation piece, as many of the handwritten sentiments go back quite a few years. We had fun reading them all and pointing out how the "styles" had changed over the decades (yes, seriously!). I suggest getting here before the lunch rush hour, as it gets extremely busy at noon and it can be hard to find a seat. We had our lunch at 11:00 and got out just as the rush was beginning. Like others have said, this is an older building with an older decor, not the cleanest place in the world, but not a total disaster either. I ordered 2 turkey and swiss sandwiches, and they came out rather quickly. They were fine, but nothing special. The turkey and swiss was good, but the plain white square bread was a disappointment. The side of potato salad was OK, again, nothing special. On a busy Sunday lunch hour it took this deli style restaurant 40 minutes to serve my panini style sandwitch. 40 minutes ?! Really? And after all that time it wasn't hot in the center. Beside being luck warm it was bland, the only flavor came from salt and majo. The side of slaw was too sweet runny and loaded with majo. The service as it was non existant. The walls were full of graffiti consisting mostly of signatures & dates scribbled from Sharpies, which was kinda corny, but whatever. They advertise 23 signature sandwiches, had daily special on a board, order at counter, pay, seat yourselfs & they deliver to table. The open kitchen prep area is kinda fun to view while they work on plates, they have booths along one wall with the rest of the area filled with mismatched older table & chairs. We had a Rueben and Egg Salad sandwhich and will most likely return when driving through next time. The ladies restroom was like walking into an antique store with all sorts of stuff on display. Located in historic downtown Arcadia. The interior of the shop would seem like a dive with the very dated tables chairs and booths also travelers and visitors have covered the walls with names and dates, but it works it is a neat little experience. The sandwiches are massive and priced right award winning chili and several fresh baked desserts and breads. The only drawback was the wait time around 30 minutes but is was a Saturday and oak street was hopping with an antique bazaar going on. I would put this on your list of place to try for a reasonable lunch. Add in a stroll thru downtown and the dozens of antique stores to complete your day. read more

I was excited to see liverwurst however when it arrived it was thick, uneven slices with hunks of onion and mustard. ..which I didn't ask for. I'm a mayo girl. If have heard great things about this place & was so excited to try it out. First visit, food was fabulous, but every visit after that has been not good at all. Ordered a BLT & received only two slices of bacon (on a full slice of bread) during visit #2. Visit #3 ordered a cheese sandwich with hardly any cheese. And visit #4 ordered a club salad that arrived without the meat. Given this place several chances to redeem itself (and I REALLY wanted to like it as it is the only deli in town.) Went to Arcadia to browse the antique shops. If you have not been there it is an interesting day trip from the Southwest Coast towns of Florida. We ordered four different sandwiches with various accompaniments. I can assure you that the Cuban sandwich I ordered with the potato salad was VERY delicious. It was large, stuffed with roast pork, ham, cheese and pickles and pressed properly. The other sandwiches were also enjoyed by my guests. We are regulars at this restaurant for lunch. The help go out of their way to please! If you want a delicious salad, sandwich or hot meal, this is the place! The restaurant has writing on the walls from years and years of people who passed through. They have some antiques for sale in the restaurant, too. But, the friendly help and good food is what stands out most to me. Everyday they have one hot cooked special and a couple of homemade soups on the menu. My favorite salad is the tropical fruit salad. They use in season fruit such as strawberries, oranges, sometimes watermelon on a bed of lettuce with chicken breast and feta cheese and their own homemade raspberry dressing. It is to die for! We like to have an Italian sandwich custom made on a Hoagie with mayonnaise and mustard pressed and split it between 2 of us. This is my very favorite sandwich. They have wraps, too!
