My friend and I decided to check out Oakberry after an event at Pacific City yesterday (7/16 around 8 PM). It was our first time visiting. Our first impression from the outside was great--it looked clean, modern, and very aesthetic. Unfortunately, the experience changed once we walked in. There was only one employee working, which I understand, but she was more engaged in conversation with a male friend who was sitting right by the counter than with customers. No one greeted us, and the atmosphere felt awkward and unwelcoming. When it was our turn to order, the interaction felt like talking to a wall. She wasn't rude, but she wasn't friendly, informative, or helpful either. There was no personality or customer service, and it made the whole experience feel uncomfortable. Having a friend hanging out by the counter isn't necessarily the issue, but paying customers should always come first. We ordered the create-your-own açaí bowl with unlimited toppings. The bowl was decent--not bad, but not memorable either. Unfortunately, the lack of customer service outweighed the food, so this won't be a place I return to. I usually go to Tru Bowl, and this experience reminded me why. This location has a lot of potential, especially being in such a prime spot at Pacific City during the busy summer season. As a manager myself, my feedback would be to invest in hiring and training a strong, customer-focused team. Good customer service leads to good reviews, loyal customers, and local customers who will recommend your business to others. Word of mouth brings people through the door--and ultimately, that's what helps drive revenue. The product can be great, but the experience is what makes people come back. We do like their selection of toppings and were able to pick up to 10 on the 3rd party app. We added matcha chia pudding, gogi berries, blueberries, bananas, strawberries, mangoes, peanut butter and more. Our bowls were ready within 10 minutes of ordering. The bowls were small considering the price. If it weren't for the BOGO deal we probably wouldn't get it. Acai was too sweet for us. We felt the toppings helped masked the sweetness of the acai. They have really good peanut butter and texture of the matcha chia pudding is delicious. Fruit toppings are inconsistent too. Found this place and booked an order through ClassPass because I had expiring credits and didn't want to book a workout lol. Figured I'd use it than waste it. ClassPass just started offering some food places so yes it was a great opportunity to try something new that I wouldn't have picked before but damn customer service here really tanked it for me. Worker was uninterested and rude when I asked how it works with my online order. I asked if they had a system for the ClassPass or do I just show them the phone ? And since my time passed about 15 min it wasn't showing my order on the app. I had to fumble on my phone to figure it out but if things went his way we would've been gone. Hell no. I paid for both of my açaí bowls through the app. The bowl itself was whatever. I've had top tier açaí bowls in Costa Mesa so you are paying for the convenience of it being by the beach. Parking: No free parking. They're located near a lot with parking spots that have 1 hour free parking. I parked in the public structure for $8 per hour with the first 2 hours being free with validation. Don't lose your parking ticket! Ambiance/Environment: This spot is located in Pacific City. What we ordered: I ordered a Works size (16 oz) of The Original bowl with açaí, granola, peanut butter, banana, and added chia pudding. My partner built his own bowl with açaí, granola, cacao nibs, chia pudding, whey protein (mixed in), banana, blueberry, Goji berry, and almonds in The Oak size (24 oz). We both LOVED our bowls! The worker here was irritated to have to be serving us. He ignored us when we tried to order. He just stood there until we eventually went to the kiosk to order which I assume was what he wanted so he didn't have to interact with anyone. We watched him do this to everyone else. I really wanted to like Oakberry. First of all, it's in a perfect location for Açaí bowls - who wouldn't want to enjoy one at Pacific City while overlooking the beach?! Secondly, unlimited toppings - yes please!! I loved the ability to customize them exactly to your liking. But honestly it was just a disappointing experience. The açaí mixture was overwhelmingly sweet and completely lacking any flavor in my opinion. The honey was a weird "white honey" that just tasted like sugar and looked completely unappetizing if you catch my drift. Also - the cups were not branded, they just looked like plain plastic cups, unlike what I see in all their marketing photos. The shape of the cups also made it incredibly difficult to get a scoop with all the toppings, unlike a bowl would. The prices are also too high! Finally, to top it off (*no pun intended*), the guy just seemed like he did not want to be working. All in all, I wouldn't return - I'd rather frequent Banzai Bowls just a few blocks away! read more

Huntington Beach is officially the hub of acai bowls. This city has an absurd number of quality acai spots in a five mile radius. Oakberry Acai Bowls recently joined the HB bowl game. I've visited a number of their locations in LA and so I was excited to have one locally. I had the opportunity to stop by during their Grand Opening at Pacific City! Their team graciously offered a complimentary acai bowl per person. A pretty decent marketing ploy to get you hooked. Since then they've become my dealer of acai and I've stopped by several times. I agree that there's still some work to be done on their bowls. Their bases melt really fast, so you really need to finish the bowl as quickly as possible. Stopped by Oakberry for a healthy and cooling snack. It's located at the end of the mall close to the parking entrance at the end. It's a small and clean location. The colors are relaxing and happy. The service was quick being one employee and a stream of customers coming in and out. The employee was friendly and knew the product should you need help ordering. You can order their creations or create one of your own. The açaí itself is delicious. It is not too sweet or bitter as I have had before. I got the summer special which is açaí, orange and granola. I had high expectations for this place since I've been to a lot of açaí bowl places. I rarely give restaurants anything under 4 stars. Would I come back? The açaí at Oakberry is delicious! I got Works with Unlimited Toppings and it was the perfect size. My favorite toppings are granola, coconut, cacao nibs, goji berries and almond butter. They offer all the toppings I like. Not sure why they call it an açaí bowl because it is more of a cup than a bowl hah. The açaí itself has good flavor which is what I'm looking for. Now it's not the best flavor, could use more açaí flavor but still decent. It's not bitter nor overly sweet which I appreciated. The texture is really important to me. Here, it is more of a smoothie-like consistency. It's definitely not as thick as I prefer but to each their own. I just wish it was more frozen and thicker/creamy. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but would definitely get it if I'm in the area and craving an açaí bowl. It's located at Pacific City across from Philz Coffee. It's across the street from the beach. There's an underground parking structure for the plaza and they validate the ticket for you. Validated tickets are free for the first 2-3 hours depending on the day you go. Service is ok, the man helping me wasn't super inviting but cordial. Inside is very cute, casual yet modern. There are a few tables inside to sit. There's also benches outside around the plaza or you can go across the street to the beach. The store is clean, new, and the staff are so sweet and make sure that your bowl is customized to perfection. I love that it's UNLIMITED toppings here and they really do load it up. We got two build your own bowls and they were the best sweet treats to cool us down during these rising temperatures. The fact that it's in cups instead of bowls allows for more layering so you get a bit of everything in one bite. Not only does the acai taste premium but they might have my favorite peanut butter/almond butter consistency! Rather than a bowl, it's in a cup, like their smoothie. The açaí appears to be more like soft serve cause that's the machine that it came out of...not blended after you order or in a tube like other places. They also "layer" the açaí by putting little amount then the toppings then another layer. There also seem to be a swirl of condensed or evaporated milk on the outer layer of the cup. Was craving a smoothie when I was here last Sunday & came upon this small place on my way back down to the garages. It's been awhile since I came to Pacific City (1 year probly) so not sure if it's new but there was no line so decided to give it a try. Opted for the very berry smoothie in a medium which they call The Works. The small was too small & didn't want to invest in a large in case it wasn't good. Sooo.. Though it was pretty good in that moment, in my humble opinion, $14 (after taxes) for a medium smoothie is WILD. & to think, a large would've been about $18. If I'm not mistaken, Nékter's drinks are the same size & is only about $14 (after taxes) for a large. & the quality & taste is just as great if not better. I haven't even talked about the bowls which are about $20! Like, maybe it's the location of the place where it's by the beach & it's a hot plaza for tourists but even so, thats pretty excessive for some smoothies & açaí bowls. Also, the fact that there was only 1 guy working & he had to both take & make all the orders. The place suddenly got slammed as I was leaving so hopefully the guy has help when it's actually busy cause I can't imagine handling a full house alone.
