It's a nice long executive course that will make you hit pretty much each clubs in your bag. It's a fun 3 x 9 hole course were you can mix and match. Right now it is under construction for the range and possibly some of the holes. Other than that , green are in good condition! read more

This is a solid exec golf course in North County. There are three 9 hole course here and you play 2 of three with a tee time. North, south, east. Majority of holes are par 3 and there are a few par 4s. You can play the whole course without a driver. Course maintenance is OK for the price. There are some holes are very muddy with crazy divots everywhere in the tee box. Greens are mostly well maintained. There are some holes that have houses here that are easy to hit with a wayward tee shot so be careful as the owners can get angry and confrontational. On the last tee time we were blamed for the group in front of us hitting an errant tee shot. read more

First timer here, had SUCH a warm welcome from everyone at Oaks North..... From the lady at the grill, to the really nice pro shop attendant to the attentive yet reasonable Marshall. Course was well maintained, had a great time on the East and South courses, saw some really cozy chairs for chilling pre/post round and even saw my favorite YouTube golf ladies tearing it up with one of the PGA pros on the range. My ONLY negative experience was with a few of the other guests... and hopefully this isn't a common occurrence here. Mind you we had 2 males and 2 females in our group.. and we were trying to keep up pace. We didn't hit extra balls and kept it moving. But on the last 3 or 4 holes on South on the long par 4 the group in front of us literally had a straggler on the edge of the fairway on the left side so we wait to hit and we got caught in a conversation amongst ourselves. But honestly we lost track of maybe a min... and of course the guys behind us only see them on the green and failed to see the straggler beforehand. One middle aged guy in a MAGA hat rolls right up to our cart and ....pumps the breaks....he was SO angry and disrespectful... I thought he was joking and couldn't even believe it. He yells "WoW what are you waiting for? Are you really waiting for them to clear the green? Unbelievable"... of course we apologize and allow them go in front of us. He responds with "NO! You know what.......? We are just going to sit here and WATCH while you hit" literally 5 feet from us... and just waits arrogantly for us to flub our shots front the pressure. I've played at courses all over San Diego, LA, Vegas and Utah and I never have felt that type of disrespect and anger on the course... Of course us guys decided not to give in to this hostility....chose the higher ground...kept quiet, striped our balls and kept it moving.. I just felt bad for the girls, they didn't hit and were a little rattled for the rest of the round. The funny thing is after this hole... we were completely waiting on the guys in front of us... when we were on the green of the long par 4, the group in front of us were on the tee box waiting for the group in front of them.... After this we proceeded to wait on every tee box for them to move down the fairway. Crazy turn of events from what started off as a super fun, relaxing round. All in all, loved the course and hope this isn't a normal occurrence for other players.... Would hate for other guests to experience this. read more

Made the mistake of renting the "standard" clubs...would have been better off going to Goodwill before the round and putting together a set...would have been newer clubs and a complete set. This is a nice local golf course that I frequent. Well maintained and affordable. You won't be using your driver very much as they're mostly par 3's and some 4's. It is a decent course for beginners but there are town homes throughout the course that are easy to hit. The driving range is adequate although it is usually pretty crowded and it closes fairly early. read more

Oaks North could have a halfway decent course, but none of that matters when the person checking you in makes you want to turn around and leave before you even grab your clubs. Patty (I think her name is) made a simple check-in process unnecessarily difficult and painful. Every question I had was met with either a dismissive remark or a look like I was wasting her time. She is the definition of someone who should not be working in customer service,let alone the front desk of a business that depends on people actually wanting to come back. Patty didn't just make check-in miserable, she set the tone for the entire day and ruined it. I couldn't enjoy a single hole because of how awful that interaction was. That's how bad it was. Course is undergoing a major renovation. Was not mentioned when making the tee time. 2 fairways were under construction and the driving range. Signed up for 9 holes. Course was in horrible shape. Absolutely unacceptable experience. The older male associate we dealt with was openly hostile, condescending, and incredibly disrespectful from the moment we arrived. We were treated like we were beneath him -- talked down to, dismissed, and met with attitude for simply asking basic questions. The way he handled our group was aggressive and demeaning. It didn't feel like bad customer service -- it felt targeted. We were made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable the entire time. No one pays good money to be treated like they're an inconvenience . If this is how this course treats its customers, management needs to seriously reevaluate who they have representing them. There are too many great courses in the San Diego area to waste time and money somewhere that makes you feel disrespected. Take your business elsewhere. read more

He was helpful and personable. We would definitely make this our designated golf course if we were a resident. I had a tee time today in the morning. My finance and I, get there with 10 min to spare (I understand golf etiquette) however still on time. We check in, the cashier Patty is very rude explaining the rules and if she wasn't just assisting people in front of us. She says we should be on time in case we leave early. I was confused as we're on time for tee time. We check in and get the cart and make it to our tee time and introduce ourself and go about it. By hole 2, the warden is explaining to us the tee time is backed up and we're delayed due to Groups in front. We make it through the front 9 and I understand on pace of play but we're all backed up. At this point, we're irritated, and we return to the club house. We payed for 18 and ended playing 9. We asked to return on the other 9 and were greeted by Dan and Patty again and say well you're on pace of play. Well Patty and Dan I'm sorry we're held up and I'm sure the groups in front and behind us feel the same way. They gave attitude and very condensing. I was very frustrated and it was very unprofessional as I work customer service. They don't need to be at the front desk period. So unprofessional compared to my previous experience there and at other courses. read more

The older male associate we dealt with was openly rude, dismissive, and carried himself with a level of arrogance that was shocking. Great hidden gem in Rancho Bernardo. This course consists of three short par three courses known as east, south and north. The north course seems to be the easiest while the east course is more open and fun to play. The south is the most challenging. If I had to rate the course above, I would give it a four out of five stars. if I had to rate just the pro shop, customer service, including the starters and the Marshalls in terms of politeness,courteousness and overall customer service it would have to be two stars. One of my favorites. They call it an executive course but those are usually short pitch and putts.. I don't call it that. It's a medium length course with plenty of par 4s to utilize your driver... It's managed by JC golf which is good... No need to rent a cart. Get your steps in! And it's one hell of a deal at twilight.. there are 27 holes here .. usually the starter will dictate where to start off but after 9 you can probably choose where you go as long as it's not crowded read more

I am new to golf and I recently attended their first annual intro to golf day clinic. A friend forwarded me the info since she knew I had taken a few lessons and thought I would enjoy it. We both signed up easily enough through the provided link and got a few email updates prior to the event. I borrowed a few clubs as recommended to bring if we had access (I didn't need them and they were a bit of a hinderance). Upon arrival around 10 am there was a very long line of cars waiting to park. They had cordoned off an area of the golf course and were directing cars where to park. I just parked on the street and walked in. The line to check at a desk was very long and I waited probably 30 minutes. Once I got to the desk I was given a task card to complete the clinics, get them checked off, and get a prize. We started at the chipping greens where we waited about 45 minutes to take our quick lesson. The red haired coach was kind and patient the older "coaches" were not, they were abrupt and rushed. While we were waiting in line we were told we should have made a tee time for the 3 hole round upon check in. No one mentioned this when we checked in. When we went back to make that tee time the line was still long but we waited. We couldn't get a time before 1:30, we were not going to be there that long. We were also told that 700 people signed up and they weren't expecting it. What? At some point don't you turn off the sign ups? Next we went back up the hill to the putting clinic where we waited another 40 minutes. We met some great people in line, luckily, which helped pass the time. Once again when we got up to the putting green, we were rushed then ignored. Then we went to the swing clinic which luckily due to rain had cleared out quite a bit so the wait was about 20 minutes. The general manager (I think) was here and we spoke to him. He was clearly overwhelmed and likely overworked, because when we asked him where the women coaches were he acted annoyed and said they didn't expect the turnout. Again, limit the signups. He did point us to the driving range where there was one woman on staff. She was really helpful (kimber) and I hope to take a lesson with her in the future. We finished off at the putting challenge. The coach here was the rudest of all. Making rude sarcastic comments if you missed your putt. Then he would shoo you off to do the same to the next person. The putting challenge was definitely challenging and I left feeling a little defeated after the guy had been so lame when I missed. This could be a great event if it was planned out better, had less people and more staff. I get that it's the first event so the kinks need to be worked out, and it's free (the reason for 3 stars), but it didn't make me want pursue golf. Luckily my current coach and my friends are much more encouraging so my current 5 weeks of playing/lessons will hopefully blossom to many years. On a side note, I lost something that day and when I called to see if it was found I was placed on hold for 15+ minutes so I hung up. When I called back and complained about the hold time the next day the guy got short with me and transferred me to a woman who told me that I would have to come down and look myself. Terrible customer service. When I read the other reviews it seems like a lot of people aren't happy with service either. read more

Oaks North in Rancho Bernardo is a fun executive golf course with 3, 9-hole courses. If you're looking to play 9 or 18, Oaks North gives the novice to scratch player a good amount of variability. From holes ranging to 120 yards all the way to over 300 yards you can be sure to use your full set of clubs. Fairways are wide enough but beware most of the holes are near houses. With any popular courses, morning tee times can be hard to obtain so book in advance. It's an excellent walking course to get some exercise in. I am primarily writing this review due to a golf lesson I received this morning with Steve Lyons, the resident PGA professional coach at the course. Steve arrived early for the lesson and was quick to make me feel comfortable with what is naturally an uncomfortable experience (no one wants to be bad at golf with an audience) -- Within one 30-40 minute lesson, Steve helped fix long standing issues in my grip and back-swing which resulted in significantly improved iron distance and driver consistency. After the lesson I went to the driving range with my 5-iron, which we didn't touch during the lesson, and was able to improve my carry from 120 yards to 175 consistently using the improvements he taught. This is also my go-to course near where I live. I have played at this course for two months and been happy with the 3x 9-hole segments that make up a different course most every time I play. I will be returning both to the course to play consistently, and for more lessons with Steve -- highly recommend to anyone in the area. read more

So... this was my 2nd time ever playing golf. Still don't know all the terminology and I'm definitely not Tiger Woods, but when you're with a great group of friends, it makes it all worthwhile! It's... [I can't believe I'm gonna say this but...] ...actually becoming...FUN!! lol Oaks North is a really nice par 3 golf course located in the San Diego community of Rancho Bernardo. There is a huge parking lot out in front so it's not a problem at all. We came in on a Sunday morning close to noon and there were plenty of spots open. Idk what reasonable pricing is for an 18 hole golf course, but I'm thinking it's average here. One of our group members paid for us up front so we just venmo'd $50 which included the golf cart rental. I was happy to see the golf carts because last time we were at Loma Club, they didn't have any (the course there is small). I was tired from walking around 3x, lol. This course is bigger so the carts are needed for sure. They had a lot to accommodate the big groups coming in. When we were leaving at the end of the day, it was nice to see the staff lining them all up and disinfecting/hosing them down. It was my first time riding/driving one and it was a good experience. The cart was clean and had everything you need (cup holders, golf ball/tee holders, etc.). The golf course itself was beautiful! Rolling hills, big trees, greens appeared very well kept. They also have a small driving range area near the entrance. We took our time, and one or two times we had to let the group behind us play through so the rest of our group could catch up to us. They even offer golf lessons for kids as well as adults. You can book events here, too. I highly recommend this golf course for beginners and pros alike. It's so pretty and the weather is usually always perfect. Come out and have a blast putting on the green! Keep your eyes peeled for more of my golfing adventures! read more

The golf course itself was pretty nice and well maintained, however this doesn't matter very much compared to the overall experience of playing here. As a foursome, my group and I began our 18 holes at our scheduled tee time. We had a mix of skill levels in our group, but everyone was holding their own and doing their best. We were enjoying the first few holes very much. When we noticed that the group behind us was playing very fast, we allowed them to play through our group. Then we continued on for a couple more holes, until we were approached by a staff member on a golf cart. This staff member told us that they had received multiple complaints that our group was playing too slow, and that we were FAR behind the pace of play. This was highly confusing to us, as the group behind us seemed to be reaching the tee as we were on the green, and often times, we had to wait to tee off as the group ahead of us was still on the green. This staff member then proceeded to trail us on his golf cart for the next 2-3 holes, silently watching us. Just as we were about to ask if we could help him with anything, he drove off. We are not unaware of our playing pace, if we see we are holding people up, we let them play through, as we did earlier in the day. Last I checked, it's hard to speed up your play when the group ahead of you is still finishing up the hole when you get there. This put a damper on the day and our enjoyment, as we were now hyper aware of every group around us, though we could do nothing to play faster. After we finished the round (15 minutes AHEAD of the "pace of play" for 18 holes) one member of our group went to the pro shop to explain the situation and how it affected our experience. We were met with rude denials of our claims. They raised their hands and said "hey, we just got the complaint calls" and didn't care how that affected our experience. They said that regardless of skill level, pace of play was important- which we didn't disagree with. But there is only so much a group can do with another group ahead of them. Further, there were no rakes in the sand traps, so they were messy and unkempt, and there were no water stations throughout the course, which was frustrating on a 90°+ day. This could have been a nice 18 holes, but instead, it was an average, run-of-the-mill course harassing patrons like they think they are Torrey Pines. We will never return. read more

Consider it one of the best executive courses in SD. Location Poway. Always well-maintained. Very good ' reasonable green fees. It has three 9 hole courses that are not a drop in the bucket. Par 3s and short par4s can be good and challenging even for the advanced golfer. Definitely not one of those short, pitch and putt par 3s. What makes this course a challenge is the kikuyu- like rough that can disrupt your wedge game especially if hitting against grain. That's why it's best to hit greens in regulation. Staff is always great, friendly and accommodating. A great venue in North County SD. read more

This golf course had 3- 9 holes par. North, East, and South. We been going here for years. My husband enjoyed his Sunday morning golf in the morning weekly. Recently this year, we just introduced the game of golf to our oldest 6 years old at time. His first time was great! They didn't kids rental clubs but they had some extra that he can borrow. Here are the positives about this place: Fun, well maintained three 9-hole executive courses. Greens are fast and challenging. Plenty of parking. The starter, Carl, was helpful since we had not played there before. Here are the negatives: My friend saw an on-line price of $33 for 18 holes, called the pro shop who confirmed the price. He put together a four-some, scheduled a tee time and we showed up to a $47 price! We were told that we should have booked it on-line to get the $33 price...but was not told that when my buddy called in to confirm price and schedule the tee time! (The woman in the pro shop was blunt about this when we showed up.) The golf carts look like they are at least 20 years old, with no GPS, with some sort of ratty webbed seat covering. And despite 27 holes, that aren't a lot of rest rooms on the course. Will we return? Probably, since we liked the course but only if we can get the on-line pricing. read more

Let down. When my friends and I arrived to the golf course and made our way to the starter booth, I was informed with snarky remarks that there were no carts available even though we paid for two. After that debacle, we were rushed to the first hole in order to "maintain the pace of play" for their 350 guests. However the pace of play was anything but maintained as the group in front of us made no attempt to keep up with the rest of the course. The course marshal instead of informing the group in front to speed up or let us play through decided to make ANOTHER snarky remark on our course etiquette with was un warranted. All things considered the course was fairly well maintained and easy to play. Wouldn't return unless it was considerably cheaper. read more

Pros: interesting course with hills, challenging greens and relatively flat tee box, well maintained course. Cons: ONE bathroom in the center of the 3 courses meaning you only get to use it on the 9th hole or go completely out of your way to drive back to use it. The other really annoying thing is the driving range reaches out to 3 different holes and there are NO nets so if you don't hit straight down the fairway, good luck finding your ball in a SEA of range balls. read more

Cheap and not in bad shape at all, that being said you get what you pay for and the pace of play is very bad. I just called it after 9 holes because it took us an 1 hour to get through the first 3 and then we had a marshal come out to tell the group in front of us to pick it up. It then took another hour and 45 to finish the rest. Don't come here if you have things to do because I would expect a 5-6 hour round on an executive course. read more

D'oh! We accidentally made our tee time for the wrong day, but when we showed up, the friendly young woman working in the pro shop was able to accommodate us. Course and putting green were in great condition. Driving range needs a little TLC but you can hit off the grass (vs mats) which is a plus. Very casual, friendly, relaxing vibe yet they definitely keep everyone moving along with pace of play. Would have been nice to have cart included in their JC members special rate. Folks do walk this course which does slow things down a bit. We took a cart and carts are in okay condition but a little bit antiquated and ours was temperamental (we thought it was dead a couple of times then we were able to bring it back.) On the whole a really fun afternoon and we will be back. read more
