This is a review for their DISC GOLF. Let me start off by saying this is the most well manicured and taken care of course around the area. With that said it is still definitely meant for golfers. No problem with that just try and go early to avoid the mixing. This is a shorter course in terms of distance but the uphill nature can be challenging. It also costs 16 a person which, since this is a course that is meant for kid enrichment isn't an issue, it's just a bit more on the expensive side. Parking in the morning is super easy as they have a lot right off the side. Haven't been during the weekends but I assume it gets packed as this is a smaller course. All in all this place is in my weekly rotation when I want to switch it up. read more

The path from hole 1-18 made sense and I love how friendly everyone on the course is! I enjoy how they switch up where the holes are on the green pretty frequently so the course doesn't feel predictable and it's one of the best par 3/4 courses I've ever visited! There are 8 lanes at the driving range. Lacks shade, uses artificial turf, and is netted, so take that as you will. Unfortunately, it did not meet my preferences. Large Bucket 70-75 balls $5. The balls were dirty. The other golfers were courteous and friendly. There were a lot of kids and the golf course looked family-friendly and neatly manicured. This is a hidden gem. My son and I learned to play golf here 1 year ago. They have a great putting green , and small driving range. The 18 hole course is short but very fun. A fun, lax, dynamic, extremely well maintained, dry (no alcohol sold on the premises), course with excellent fairways and greens, mats for tee boxes and an attitude that just screams, "let's have fun!" I've played here twice now with the wife. Once a 9 hole and another 18 hole round. Pace of play is maybe 1.5 hours for 18 with a decently busy course. There are plenty of ways to get in trouble with a few bunkers on most holes and a good amount of water features. Not to mention the whole course is on the side of a hill which can challenge the best putters. Conditions are very very green. We just caught a lot of rain the past month so the course is in immaculate shape. Pitch marks are always fixed on greens. The club house is full of a super helpful and nice staff. Some drinks and light refreshments sold within. No alcohol due to them catering more toward the younger players / family demographic. Lastly, there are a lot of practice areas in such a small compound for you to focus on putting, chipping and an enclosed driving range. I can't think of one negative for course. And, they'll give you a hole in one certificate of you get one. read more

Amazing price on weekends! $13 for 18 holes and just $1 for each rental club you need. The staff were amazing and very chill. Each hole was about ~100 yds so it's definitely not a place for professionals or serious players but it's pretty nice golf course for amateurs/beginners. The greens were pretty well maintained and difficulty of each hole was relatively easy as you just need to hit the ball straight and you should be good. Had multiple negative experiences within the span of an hour after arriving. I'll be as brief as possible. Went to check in and asked if they had golf carts available. Young man said they have one that is FCFS for people with disabilities or have problems walking. I told him I'm a heart patient and even showed him that I was wearing a heart monitor device. He said it was a hassle to get it for me because it was far away and he would have to close the shop while he does. I told him not to worry then because I don't want to be a hassle. I was outside waiting for my party to arrive and he came out to ask about my cooler and if there was alcohol inside of it. I was honest and told him there was. He said it's no problem as long as I am discreet around any children while drinking any. My party arrived with an additional cooler than only contained water. At that point he came back out and reprimanded us for having a second cooler. He said that "people will look at us and assume we are drinking alcohol." I'm not sure what he meant by that but since we were 4 young Hispanic males, it seemed like he might have been insinuating that would contribute to peoples assumption that we were drinking alcohol. We told him we wanted no issues and weren't aware of the policies. He snarkely said that we came through a gate with the policies so we should have read them. He then went on to say that one small cooler is fine so we got rid of the other. The third issue arrived when we got to the 10th hole. A different man approached us and rudely said that "we need to skip the 10th hole because we are playing too slow." We we're not playing slow at all and we're keeping great pace. We even communicated with the party behind us regularly and there were no pace issues whatsoever. I believe we finished the front nine in less than 90 minutes. We still skipped the 10th to be sure we weren't causing any issues and ended up an entire hole ahead of the party behind us. I went back to the pro shop to express my dissatisfaction with how we were treated and the young man that checked me in pretty much shrugged his shoulders and told me oh well.. read more

Very well maintained course and friendly staff. My only problem is that I wish I was warned while making a reservation on the phone that they would have told me a big event was going on. People were scrambling around the course playing different holes which slowed down the pace to the point we had to leave after only 10 holes. Beautiful, well manicured greens and fairways. Off University and 52nd is a nice 18 hole executive course for golf and disc golf. A great place for the beginner and a place to work on your short game. It is also super kid friendly. They support the First Tee youth program here. Saw a few young children practicing their golf game with their parents when I went. You never know. Might of saw the next Tiger Woods out there. Only $7 to play a round per person or $10 per person for unlimited play for a whole day. A fair price to play on a nice green course complete with bunkers and water hazards. They also have a golf driving range and a practice putting green. On this day, I played a round of disc golf. A sport that is gaining popularity throughout the world. Being a beginner. Colina Park was a good place for me to learn and practice throwing different discs. Not many obstructed views of the disc golf baskets from the tee. The course plays very straight forward with the baskets being near golfing greens. For disc golf, all greens and bunkers are not in play. You must move your disc out of these and without getting any closer to the basket. Pretty sure anything landing in the bunker is a one shot penalty but anything on the green is not. Overall, a solid course for beginners and novice players of either golf or disc golf. I could see intermediate and advanced players having it too easy here. I believe there just isn't enough variety or challenge for adult players at that level. Golf drivers are unnecessary here. Nothing below a seven iron is needed. Every hole is a par 3. Again the course is very beautiful to look at. It is very well maintained from the first hole to the last. Everything on the course is either new or looks new. The course staff is very friendly and courteous. Very kid friendly. Can see taking my grandson here one day when he is older to play either sport. Play golf and disc golf here. read more

I use to enjoy playing this course to improve my short game but today is my last trip there. The young lady running the register told me in no uncertain terms that I need to call for a staring time. She mumbled something about trying to get me out. I said I could start on 10 as there was no one on 7, 8, 9 or anyone on the back side. She said "we don't do that" This was never a problem before. She again said I should have called. I told her never mind. She said Have a nice day. I'm never going back. I just picked up sticks under a year ago and I'm hooked! Colina Park course is our #1 frequented course for perfecting our short game. It serves as a Junior registered course and it's so refreshing to see youth invested in the sport! I am envious of their early starts with the game! Colina offers 18 well-manicured holes (70-longest 175 yards) that are targeted with only a few clubs in a lightweight Sunday Bag. Walking the course in its entirety gets you through in about 1.5-2 hours. Dress code is casual and you can get away with wearing informal golf attire. The course is absolutely affordable (lowest greens fees coming out to $7 a person), and it's rarely too busy to make you feel rushed through. Their pro shop has a decent selection of used clubs for sale too! I snagged a left-handed Stroke Saver for $5! Bargain city! They even offer a "hole in one fund", where if you buy $2 a player into the pot (~$50-100+ at any given time) and you get a hole in one on any hole you win! Nothing like a little side bet to spice up your game. Colina remains a solid go-to course for perfecting short game and getting a fun and affordable round in on any given day. read more

This is a wonderful, well-maintained golf course that also serves as the headquarters for the nonprofit First Tee program in San Diego, which means that 100 percent of the greens fees, rental fees, and driving range revenue is used to support youth programs. Colina Park is an 18-hole, par-3 hillside course that is an ideal setting for introducing young people to the sport. Each hole is labeled with one of the principles of the First Tee program (sportsmanship, courtesy, integrity, etc.), which teach life skills as well as the game of golf to underserved youth. For weekend warriors like myself, Colina Park is a great way to sharpen the short game or shake off the rust after months of golf inactivity. There's no need to crush 300+ yard drives onto narrow fairways or stress over downhill two-break putts on greens that register double digits on the Stimpmeter. It's all about the short game here; with most holes in the 55- to 70-yard range (Hole 6 is the longest at 109 yards), a wedge or two and a putter will suffice. There are a few bunkers and water comes into play on the last holes of the front and back nine, but they are not formidable obstacles. Still, there are enough challenges to make for an enjoyable morning or afternoon round for players of all skill levels. The prices are affordable: $13 for adults and $7 for juniors during the weekend, with discounts for weekday play, 9-hole play, seniors, military, and students. There's also a prepaid 10-round card that will knock down the rate significantly, can be used anytime, and can be shared with others! It's a tremendous deal ($80 for adults; $50 for juniors). Sadly, I did NOT have a good first experience here. 8/8/20 One a the few days off that my spouse and I have together and we decided to come to this course to play a quick round before continuing our adventure for the day. We were just about to start the 4th hole when the man behind us with his elementary aged son hit right in to us. Never yelled a warning. His ball came down right on my head. This course is VERY close together so if you miss hit the ball, you MUST yell. Accidents happen, but what burned me the most is that this man never came and apologized. He just stood there as I sat down on the ground holding my head. Then when I moved my hand we realized I was bleeding pretty bad and immediately had to leave and go to urgent care. As we walked away, the man just stood there with his son watching. As a golfer, I can't imagine not going to someone I hit with a golf ball to finding out if they are ok or if there was anything I can do and apologize. And as a teacher, setting a good example for my son in showing manners. I was lucky it wasn't a line drive. I saw so many young kids out there. I am glad it was me and not one of them. I know this doesn't have as much to do with the course itself, but when you check in, they need to strongly stress golf etiquette and the need to yell FORE. The course is nicely kept and the price was reasonable. The course gave us a rain check to play again, but we will not be going back. read more

Snobby customer service from the front desk! The place looked nice and I was thinking about getting a membership. I just asked about prices for later. The stupid kid in the front rolled his eyes and avoided eye contact. He was acting very spoiled and made underhanded comments about our clothes. Mind you, I was wearing typical golfing attire--collared shirt and Dockers slacks. But he looked at me up and down and immediately judged me. So what's the problem? Maybe a race thing?? This place is supposed to be open to the public but they sure made it feel like an elitist private business. They operate under the guise of a non-profit but they're a bunch of narcissists who hate customers. Dumb, cuz there were barely any people when I went there. I wish they had a sign outside that just stated that they were pretentious and I would have saved my time and went elsewhere. Your job is not that hard kid. read more

1st time as parents here at the Colina. Our kids are Pro Kids of Oceanside and comes here every month for there EOM tournament.. it's absolutely a beautiful Par 3 course. Open to the public. Great for all ages and skill level. They sell food and drinks and they have a small net driving range. You hit off mats when you play. Lots of palm trees. It was challenging for my husband, good thing our son is here to show him how it's done. If your in the area, come support the course. read more

This golf course is so much fun. It's small but you can play a full round of golf (18 holes). There are no golf carts on the field, but they are not needed since you can walk everywhere. The range is very well maintained. The longest whole is probably around 100 yards. No need for drivers, Irons, a pitching wedge, and a putter are all you need. Also, the staff is very friendly. One of the best things San Diego has going for it is the high concentration of championship-level golf courses. La Costa and Torrey Pines immediately come to mind. What is more awesome is the fact that the city actually runs 3 pretty good courses - Torrey Pines, Balboa and Mission Bay. Up until several years ago, they also "maintained" a patch of half dried crabgrass on the west side of Colina del Sol Park in City Heights which was coined an executive course. For $3.00 you could take a pitching wedge and a putter and maybe a 7 iron for the lone long hole and spend a good 2 hours walking the course. Occasionally you would run into some people making out in the bushes on the east side hill or a hobo who was taking a siesta by the fence on the north end. These things were par for the course. As part of the first Crawford High School golf team, this was the most logical and convenient practice course. I was unspectacular, but considering the nonsense that was going on just outside the golf course (i.e. gangbangers, drugs, whatever) it was surprising that we were able to play golf there at all. A few years after I graduated, Pro Kids Golf - who supplied our rag tag team with most of our equipment - took over and renovated the entire course. Compared to the previous incarnation it looks absolutely stunning. Instead of a drainage ditch running down the middle of the course, you have actual mini-lake water hazards, decent sand traps, and the sod was definitely an improvement over city-issued grass. The course itself was a leap up in terms up difficulty. At $10/weekdays and $12/weekends for 18 holes, Colina is definitely a great option for anyone who doesn't want to deal with booking a tee time at Torrey or dealing with waits at Balboa. read more

Definitely a fun course to hang out with your friends and shoot the shit. A pretty nice (beginner, kids, or slightly more difficult than miniature golf) 18-hole par 3 golf course. Each of the holes range between 50-110 yards, a pretty short course, so it's not a driver or full swing type of course. Its pretty well maintained and cheap too (ranging from $10 to $15 depending on the time of day you book). Would I come back? Yes. Would I give it 5 stars? No. The minor gripes I had with it were; parking is cramped (very small lot), the golf course also doubles as a frisbee golf course (so you have frisbee golfers walking all over the place playing their own game), and when we scheduled online for a tee time it said we were good for 18 holes and that they close after 7pm (sunset). But, they didn't... they closed after we were only there 50 minutes and kicked us off the course at 6pm. Overall, not a bad course, but not a 5 star course either (I'd give it 3.5 stars). read more
