A very elegant nail salon that takes COVID-19 seriously. Temperature checks, masks required and pixie glass dividers between customers and nail techs. I got a spa pedicure with Michelle, the owner. The spa pedicure is $45. Michelle was very friendly and service oriented. While I was getting my pedicure the client beside me finished hers. I saw the nail tech sanitizing the chair her client got up from with Lysol. The pedicure chairs are new and hygienic. I found the experience rather relaxing. Pros: - Good job with the actual nail polish - Pedicure was a nice experience, especially the orange and... avocado rub (?) on the legs - Gave my boyfriend's 12-year-old sister a good first pedicure experience and a good overall trip (minus con, see below) Cons: - They didn't actually paint my boyfriend's sister's nails the right color. She was supposed to get a pastel lilac color and she got a magenta color instead even though we showed them the sample stick color she wanted at the beginning. I was separated from her while we were doing our nails even though we were clearly there together. I was rushed off to start nails when her pedicure was only halfway done since they started her late with another nail technician. Had we not been separated I may have been able to catch the wrong color in time and fix it. - While my nails were getting done, the nail technician made unsolicited comments about my colorful hair and how her daughter's hair has been dyed a lot and all fell out, as if to indirectly chide me for getting colorful hair. She said it's bad for me and she is a hair stylist too, etc. I was there for my nails and to have a good time with my boyfriend's sister, not to be judged. Made me super uncomfortable. Ultimately I still left a good tip and said my thank yous because the nails still looked good, but I probably won't return given the incorrect color and hair chiding I received. read more

Terrible experience with manicure pedicure and an employee who kept saying loudly while working on me fukher this and fukher that She was irritated that she had to fix the work of another employee she was rough with me and squeaking loudly while making terrible expressions. She cut my big toe and I had to walk around limping for the next week during my trip. She also squeezed citrus on my legs where I had a few shaving nicks. They were still a little bloody so she knew that I had open wounds and still put the citrus directly on them. Decent pedicure. When I paid, I was provided a receipt and immediately my nail tech requested my phone number. I didn't ask why. About an hour later, I got a call stating my payment did not go through and to provide a credit card number over the phone. I have a receipt stating my PIN was verified for the sale so I didn't understand the disconnect. I called my bank and they had nothing on my account stating an approval nor a decline for the transaction. I am glad that I had listened to the Yelp reviews for this place and had decided to come here for a much needed pedicure. I had recently did a foot peel and my feet were almost done peeling and looked nasty!. I felt a little bad for the lady who gave me the pedicure but she was extremely helpful and I felt like she wanted to give me the best pedicure I ever had. She worked hard within a reasonable time to get my feet back to tiptop shape. I of course made sure to tip her nicely for her efforts. The color selection here was filled with a variety of associated colors and brands. I am a huge OPI fan so I was happy to choose a OPI red for my toes. I remember they had China Glaze and I think Essie. They also have the gel polish if you are interested. I am but I am too lazy to come back and have it taken off. I liked that they kept a menu by the pedicure area. This had prompted me to decide on a spa pedicure instead of the basic due to my feet issue. *** This review is for a hair appointment that I had at Oakton Salon and Spa *** My usual hairstylist is in Bethesda, and I wanted to try a hair salon closer to my house. I researched a few hair places in Oakton, and came across Oakton Salon and Spa. After reading the positive Yelp reviews for this place, I was very excited to try it out. I made a haircut/ color appointment for 1pm on a Saturday. The salon was kind enough to call me at 8:45am on the morning of the appointment to remind me. I arrived at the salon promptly at 1pm. My hairstylist , Ann, was doing nails for another client and told me to go to her station and wait. I was not sure where her station was and felt at loss. I was finally directed to her station by one of the staff members. I waited for 15 minutes, and then a girl stopped by to give me a look book. I was perusing through the pages, and 10 minutes later, a middle aged woman walked up to me and pointed at a chair. I was not sure what she was saying as it was hard to communicate with her in English. When she saw my confused face, she said "shampoo" and started to pull the look book from my hand. I told her that I need to refer to the pages to show the hair stylist. She pointed towards the page numbers and then her head. I figured she was asking me to memorize the page numbers. At this point I almost wanted to walk out as the hair stylist had not even come by to check my hair. Strike One. From my understanding, before shampoo, the hair stylist checks out the client's hair and then introduces them to the person who will be shampooing their hair. I really wanted to give this place a chance, and got ready for shampoo. The shampoo was one of a kind experience. The woman put a towel on my back and tied a plastic bag tightly around my neck. The hair wash itself was interesting. The woman, I am thinking, in an attempt to apply shampoo and massage my hair, dug into my scalp with her nails. It was a little painful and was squirming. The lady kept on moving me around and was wringing my hair. I don't know what it is like to be in a washing machine, but it almost felt that my hair was being washed in one. Again, I wanted to leave. Strike Two. After the shampoo, I waited for another few minutes. At that point, it had been more than 30 minutes, and I was frustrated. No one had stopped by to apologize or even give me an ETA. Strike Three. I could not wait any longer and decided to leave. I went up to Ann, the hairstylist, and told her that I had been waiting for more than 30 minutes and I need to leave. She muttered something in her language, and did not try to stop me, and I did walk out. While driving back, I ran my fingers through my hair and noticed that there was still conditioner in my hair and my hair was falling out. I have been to really nice salons and have gone to Hair Cuttery back in the day. This is the worse hair salon experience that I have ever had. Let me tell it like it is: I get my nails done a lot...A.Lot. I recently bought a place in Oakton and since then have tried every nail salon in the area more than once. I have been maimed, i have bled, all in the name of empirical data. I can am thrilled t have found this place tucked in a little shipping center in suburbia. I needed it. My cuticles have been through too much abuse LOL! The shop itself is super cute, they have potted orchids, nice chairs, it's clean..blah blah. It doesn't smell like a meth lab- which seems to be the trend for nail salons in Nova. They selection of nail polish is divine- a never ending rainbow of Essie and OPI colors. (too bad I usually just stick to french mani/pedis...whomp whomp) The girls that work there seem to have been there a while which is nice. The low/no employee turn around is indicative of their high quality of professionalism. The ladies that work their seem to have developed a rapport with a large percent of their clientele. They go out of their way to make you comfortable and chit chat with you when they are doing your nails- it doesn't seem forced or in genuine. I have had several of the technicians there do my nails and I have always been very happy with the results. I asked one girl (Natalie) to paint hello kitty on my nails once. It came out super cute (didn't look exactly like hello kitty, but it was adorable) She seemed to think I didn't like it and when I came back tried to give me a design on my nails for free- which was super kind of her. I passed- on the exterior I may be 26- but on the inside I am a crotchety senior citizen set in her ways. She did paint some color on my toes, the picture of my pink french pedi is in the gallery as well. The two other girls that have done my nails- Vivian and Ann are fabulous as well. Vivian Will Make you Laugh, and has removed enough callused skin off my feet to have a vendetta against me,...poor girl.. Ann is awesome at giving you a perfect fill (mine are acrylics fyi) with out taking six months to do it. Natalie is the go to girl for designs- very sweet and precise with her work. The other girls are sweet too. I have great peripheral vision and their clients have always appeared very satisfied. OMG this review is long. Seriously though- go here. Then thank me. read more

I have been coming here since last year and I love it. I am not very familiar with a lot of Nail Salons in Virginia, so I found it kind of difficult to find somewhere to my liking since all I am familiar with are salons in DC. My boyfriend although is from Oakton, he was actually the one who recommended this place, since most of the women in his family have been going there since forever. He decided to treat us to a pedi/medi (side note, it's pretty awesome that a man can be confident enough to say he doesn't mind getting pampered every now and then) with that being said the women who were in to do our pedi/mani, made him feel very comfortable and complimented him a lot on his choice to come join me, made him feel very relieved he wasn't being judged. We were being taken care of Vivian and Kathy. We love them!! They were always asking how we felt and if we had any questions about anything. The place itself is very kept up, they sweep almost every 30 minutes to make sure everything is clean and welcoming. They have so many colors in the polish selection, you will love them all. One time, we came in I wanted to get the Almond shaped nails and although Kathy said she has never tried it before, she took her time studying the picture I brought and gave it a try-- she is amazing!! it came out exactly if not better than my picture, I loved them and received many compliments. In Virginia, I would definitely always come to Kathy for anything new I want to try. We have been coming to Vivian and Kathy every chance we can get, Vivian always takes care of him and Kathy is with me. I am happy to say we became very comfortable with one another that we consider them friends! Vivian even ran into my boyfriend outside of the salon and remembered him and asked him how I was doing, so sweet. Now that Snowzilla 16 is over, we plan to stop by for a visit. Seriously, if you haven't found a good Nail Salon around the Oakton/Vienna area, give them a try you won't regret it. read more

I came with my kids because I didn't have another choice, at the beginning my baby which is 2 years old, walk directly to nail polish, what I did while I was waiting for my turn was to paint one her nails, then the owner (a rude lady) told me that I have to pay $5 dollars for that, I didn't say anything and like 1 or 2 minutes later she come out with a sign for me, telling that any unattended kids it will be towed away.! What a lovely spot! I can't believe that I never came across or tried this place before. There are many area salons, but this one is my favorite so far. I really liked the polish selection which was very well organized. Even though it was a Sunday, I was able to make an appointment that morning and the salon wasn't too crowded in the afternoon when I went. Vivian gave me a wonderful manicure and pedicure. She was kind and we talked a bit, but mostly, I was able to just relax. All of the treatments in the Deluxe Spa Pedicure were very nice especially the hot towels. Both my toe and fingernail polish showed extreme attention to detail. Sometimes the ladies (and men) tend to not go all the way into the corners, etc. but she had great coverage and made sure to take off any stray polish too. Lovely salon - quiet and relaxing, with an extensive selection of polishes, including MANY colors of the popular shellac variety. Cindy is my go-to manicurist, although others are also good (Natalie, Judy). I get my nails done about every two weeks, and I won't go anywhere else for service. I also get my eyebrows waxed at the salon. Their prices are reasonable, and it's easy to get an appointment without too much advanced notice (even on the weekends).
