We were so disappointed in the performance of this company. We have used them twice before and could not have been happier! This company even did the original install of our hardwoods. We kept their card, and hired them to take out carpet in our family room and install hardwoods, which they laced in from our kitchen and we were thrilled! Next project was to take out the carpet in our formal living room/dining room and downstairs bedroom, and replace with hardwoods. This gave us all hardwood flooring on our first floor. Again, we were compeletly happy and satisfied with their work.
We recently did a kitchen remodel and hired this company once again to come in and resand/refinish the kitcen floors.
We were away when they did the job and upon our return, the house was COVERED in dust from the sander. Our new cabinets were dusted, our built ins in our family room was covered with dust, and it even extended into our formal living area. I had to come in and take all the items off all the shelves and dust everyone. The shelves and cabinets in our kitchen had to all be dusted and cleaned. As I said, we have used them before and I never had to deal with the dust issue EVER before. Our threshhold was also not completely stained. In a certain light, you can see where the stain did not completely cover the threshold. Against the moulding on the floor, you can see darker areas where the stain was a bit heavier, and not completely blended in.
I did call and leave a message how upset and disappointed we were in the apparent "lazy work", and all she said was she was sorry and there must have been something wrong with the vacuum. I was told he had dusted the area when he left, but I did take pictures, and to me, there was no effort at all in cleaning up this mess.
I would have appreciated prior notice to remove all shelf items and tape off areas with plastic, if this was an issue, but we were never told to do this. Also, having them do our rooms before, we did not come home to dust on our kitchen cabinets, etc. I do expect some dust as it is a dirty job, but this was BEYOND a small amount. My other thought, was to offer a discount, as we were prior customers and even recommended them to a friend who hired them. No such olivebranch was extended. We know another couple planning on putting in new hardwoods, but we will not be referring this company again!
If you do hire them, clarify the dust and clean up issue prior to hiring. I don't know if they had someone else do the work, because this is such a change from our prior dealings with this comapny.
