The best word that I can use to describe Oasis Cafe is Refreshing! It's simple and effective. Such a cozy atmosphere. My partner and I went here on a Saturday mid morning and was immediately felt by a cozy refreshing vibe. It was a tad busy but we were able to find a table and get service immediately. I went for a full Paul's palmeni and it was delicious as always. Without customization it came 50/50 potato and beef and had works on it. That was nice. My pal and I meet half way to meet and catch up--a coworker recommended Oasis and I'm so happy she did. The cafe was bright and beautiful: big windows, fun wallpaper, lots of plants. The only thing is that it was a smidge warm - but someone else likely lived the temperature in there.. :) I got the chipotle chicken sammie and it came with a pickle and JALAPEÑO chips. No one offers jalapeño chips! They are my absolute favorite. The bread was perfectly toasted, I actually got enough aioli (I swear places skimp on that most of the time), and the veggies were fresh/crisp on a great amount of meat. I got a cold brew with a syrup; it wasn't full of flavor and I was bummed. I hate doing this but the worst they can say is "sorry, not allowed"--so I went back up to ask for more syrup because I couldn't tell if they initially put such a small amount in or if they forgot it all together. She was so kind and didn't act annoyed with me; she gave me full control of how much syrup was offered and it was then great! This is a cozy little place that serves foods and coffee. We got roast beef which I really enjoyed. Loved the rye bread that they used for the sandwich. I also got their creamy asparagus soup. To my surprise, I actually made with liked it. Additionally, they also made pelmini here as well. They are the same family as Paul's pelmini I think. It was super delicious. The service and food were good but on a busy weekend morning it was very loud. High ceilings and hard surfaces = impossible to have a conversation. We had the California BLT and the Roast Beef sandwich. Both came with pickles, both nicely packed and folded into packages of greatness. We also tried the RUSSIAN Dumplings -- I was intrigued. Those are AWESOME. I recommend getting extra sour cream so you can have a good size glob with every bite. My husband and I fought over who got to finish off the dumplings. Order those, for sure. I've lived near this cafe for over a year and today was my first visit. I can't believe I've never been here before! They have an extensive drink menu. I chose an Iced Chai Tea. Chai teas are hit or miss for me. Theirs was a hit! After a few hours of studying I grabbed a veggie sandwich. I couldn't believe how good the sandwich was. It had hummus, guacamole, tomatoes, red onions, and feta. Yummmm. The sandwiches are quiet large and come with chips and a pickle. Next time I'll probably share with someone. The service is always excellent as is the EVP coffee. You can buy roasted EVP coffee beans for home use as well. You can buy the beans whole or they will grind them for you. I like that their non-dairy options include almond milk and coconut milk. They serve lunch, and the food is excellent. They use high quality products like Boars Head meat. My favorite menu item is the pelmeni (Russian Dumplings). You need to order mixed (meat and potato) with the works (melted butter, sweet chili sauce, yellow curry, cilantro, and a side of sour cream). You will not be disappointed. read more

While it still offers a full arsenal of EVP-powered coffee drinks, this café also offers a variety of well-composed sandwiches and, are you sitting down, pelmeni of Paul's Pelmeni fame. Oasis has maintained it coffeehouse roots, there are plenty of comfortable seating options, generally occupied with young professionals tapping away on their phones or laptops. A set of large windows flood the interior with natural light and there is a small outdoor seating area for those seeking an al fresco experience. The staff I have interacted with is top notch, über-friendly and incredibly accommodating. The menu offers a variety of options. In the morning, Oasis serves up breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. From 11 am to 3 pm, the full sandwich menu is available. During my last visit, I enjoyed their roast beef and provolone offering ($8.25) with a cup of the tomato basil soup ($2). The fact this sandwich came with a healthy does of caramelized onions, pretty much assures my review will carry at least a four star rating. The horseradish sauce needed more of an accent and less of a major flavor note. It just overpowered the subtle flavors of the roast beef and provolone. While I appreciated the fresh sourdough baguette, the crust provided too much resistance with each bite. As I tried to bite off a piece, the sandwich contents would fall out the other side. The roast beef also needed a pinch of salt to accentuate the beef flavors. I felt the dairy element of the soup muted the fresh tomato flavor. The optional Gorgonzola cheese added a needed flavor boost since the fresh basil was applied sparingly. The other food option is Paul's pelmeni, which has a well-deserved cult following in Madison. I love the coffee station in the morning! Drop your cash in the basket in exchange for a cup of divine locally roasted EVP coffee. The baristas know I'm the customer who can't get enough of the Campfire Blend and I'll happily wait for a new pot. All the sandwhiches on the menu are delicious and made with Boar Head's meat. The real gem are the Russian Dumplings called Pelmeni. These are meat and potato dumplings with melted butter, cilantro, curry powder, and spicy sauce, eaten with sour cream on the side. If you never had them, you are missing out! I probably go here at least once a week for the dumplings. Call ahead to see if they have them because they are so popular, sometimes they run out mid-week. All the ingredients are also local.
