I came to Oasis in desperation of what felt like a dull pain at the top of my glut and down my thigh. It had become increasingly impossible to sleep at night and even challenging to drive or sit in certain positions. I texted the number listed on Yelp and made an appointment to come in that day. David did a quick intake, then had me sit in one of the zero gravity chairs while he worked on me. He made sure I was comfortable and put a towel behind my back due to my current discomfort. I actually fell asleep and felt energized for that short time -- more than those past couple nights! David's recommendation on frequency to come in was 2-3x a week. I asked if consecutive days were best. He said in China, everyone comes every day until they don't have to come in anymore. That sold it for me. I came in four days that week. He definitely helped with the pain and it has subsided significantly. In those four days, he tried a couple different things always asking and listening how the previous day went. He is amazing at what he does and his "bedside manner" is so appreciated. He takes great care in always washing his hands with every patient. This is a community clinic so everyone is treated in a communal setting. He has 5 zero gravity chairs set up in the front of the office and you pick one when you arrive. It's a sliding scale so you pay what you are comfortable with. When you walk in, you just look for you envelope with your name on it, slip your payment in, and drop in the mailbox on the side of the desk. He only takes cash or local checks. David has been doing acupuncture and cupping for many of my family members, friends and myself for over 10 years. I recommend him to anyone that has pain and discomfort and does not want to rely on pain medication. He is great at what he does. He is gentle with the needles and always asks you if all the needles are ok before he lets you rest and listen to very relaxing low music. Also, his fees are very reasonable. read more

If you are hesitating, don't. This place is really as good as it sounds. My sister and I were having some issues that were making it difficult to even function physically. And we had a huge move to undertake! But with our bodies breaking down I didn't know if I had enough gas left in the tank. I was feeling desperate. When a friend suggested community acupuncture I was leery at first. I tried acupuncture before. It had been expensive and I hadn't felt any improvement. But what is nice is that at Oasis the fees are on a sliding scale -you pay what you can starting from a base price. So, I thought it couldn't hurt to try. On the first visit I literally feel asleep and felt more well rested than I had in months. Since then, I've returned several times with great improvement. While I haven't completely healed, I can actually function more normally. David really wants to help people and the care and time he takes with you shows it. I also noticed that almost all of his patients are women. So if you think as a woman you might feel uncomfortable, that is not the case. I'm so grateful his prices are so reasonable as otherwise I couldn't have gotten so many treatment or the help I needed. (Especially since my insurance is terrible!) The only problem now is that we have moved pretty far away but I plan in visiting Oasis again whenever I'm in the area. read more

This is a little gem of a place. My parents were visiting from abroad and had a couple of ailments. The sliding scale of payment definitely helped them because they are retired and have limited income. They got some relief from their health issues which allowed them to enjoy their stay. I was very surprised by what I saw: "Acupuncturists keep records of every appointment, names of patients, treatment dates, etc. There was no "Trina A." treated at Oasis CA the week prior to 11/25 for a headache. Pressuring someone to make an appointment is not done, but a recommendation is made regarding the frequency of follow-ups for your condition. " ___ First of all David, what a noob mistake of you for posting this and not sending me a PM. Because now, I will definitely not go back to your practice, and will tell everyone I know to stay away from you. Second, how dare you insult me and insist that I lied about my review. Did it ever occur to you that maybe, I didn't specifically come on the day I wrote the review, and perhaps that my name on here is short for my full long name? Wow, I bet you feel like an idiot now. Third, why would I even lie about my review?! If you check my profile, you'll see that I have darn near 200 reviews, and that I am elite, showing that I am an honest, real, active yelper. So, in my previous review, I was as honest and unbiased as I could be. I even stated that I would be willing to come back to give this place another try. And I said that I'd bring blankets, and my ipod to combat the noise issue I had last time I was there. After he removed the needles, he expressed that it would be good for me to come in for the next three consecutive days to treat my headaches. I was not used to that, seeing as I set my schedule with my regular acupuncturist. I wasn't comfortable with coming in for the next three days, so I made an excuse, and he persisted on me coming in for the next three days. I didn't end up making the next appointment. The rest of the day and the next, my shin hurt where one needle was placed. As you can see, my experience wasn't the greatest, but never did I bash this place in my review. So, my fellow yelpers you can see why I was caught off guard by David (the owners) comments. I don't lie. I like to be honest and thorough. I like to give second chances. But in this case, I'd suggest you not go here, as I will not be returning. read more

David is very knowledgeable and very thorough. I love the co-op approach- the price is very reasonable, and during my last visit I asked if we could switch gears and work on my miagraines. My jaw is very tight due to TMJ and after one treament my jaw relaxed by 75%. I am a firm believer that acupunture releases and helps flow the energy. I had to go through 3 different acupuncturists to get to David. I went to one acupuncturist for my migraines and all he could talk about was his credentials. He would talk 70 percent of the time and treat 30%, plus his billing practices were questionable. The second guy I went to told me that I should not be going to physical therapy, not exercising at all and lying flat, AND wearing a brace all day long. AND he put the needles directly into my pain points......which did nothing for me. All in all, told me he would bill insurance, didn't and then billed me 70$ for wasting my time! Then I found David. The cost of the treatment was less important to me (but definitely a factor), than how I actually felt afterwords! So my ailments include Migraines, two herniated discs in my back, arthritis in my hands. David has been able to positively affect all my pain points and bring me to the next level when physical therapy and anti-inflamatories had gotten me as far as they could. I took my husband with me for the initial visit with David.....thank goodness, because I was so relaxed afterwords and felt so good that I don't think I should have been driving! :) Just imagine feeling the way you feel when you've had a massage for 1.5 hours.......and that is how I feel when I leave Oasis. VERY relaxed and balanced! I've been seeing David at Oasis for 2 months now, and I'm back to work full time, and able to get back to my everyday activities! The only regret that I have is that I can't take David back with me to the East Coast when I have to move back next year! Additionally - he's VERY flexible with schedules and not full of himself, like the other acupuncturists I've encountered. read more

David is really easy to work with. I have been using acupuncture as part of my pain management program for a few years now and I must say the Community Acupuncture model was an awesome find. David does not take insurance, but this is one of the many types of things you can pay for out of a medical spending account. It's $15-$40 per session; sliding scale. Oasis is one of four acu clinics I have used in the Bay Area and while I liked all the practitioners, David far and away spent more time understanding my issues and also never made me feel pressured to buy "herbal remedies" or pay more than I was comfortable with.... in short, he's a cool guy who really enjoys helping people. read more

David is a very skilled acupuncturist. I highly recommend Oasis. I have gone to see him for treatments for two separate issues and have been successfully healed. I first went for persistent neck and shoulder pains that had been going on for years. After about a month and a half of treatments the pain stopped coming back. I was so happy after 4+ years. More recently I went in because I was experiencing stomach issues, and was successfully treated after just 3 sessions. I feel fantastic now! Community acupuncture takes place in a room with several other people, so it's more affordable and there are more appointment times available. I am not sure what the previous poster was talking about. The acupuncture here was very good and relaxing. I have a neurological disorder, and I did not find the acupuncture helped me a lot, but that I am sure is not because of the acupuncture, it is because of what I have. David was always concerned. There was never any pressure. In fact, the last week he actually gave me free, and then he told me he didn't think he would be able to help much after so many sessions instead of dragging it on. The prices were also very reasonable compared to other acupuncturists. I would go back. I was disappointed it didn't help, but maybe next time. read more

David is really good. I regularly go to him and he is very patient and knowledgable. He is prompt and he will tell you directly, if something can be cured using acupuncture or not. I needed some help in managing pain and I was tired of trying various things. Acupuncture helped me a lot and now, I can say, I almost experience zero pain. He is very affordable too. David is great! Super easy to work with and upfront about what may or may not work. I was recommended to go here for some chronic pain and anxiety. While I did do other things for the pain that probably helped too, I do feel like this was a big factor in relief! The anxiety I experienced was also greatly helped by knowing I had a place to go to if ever it got too bad. The facility is comfortable and he even offers blankets if you need it (though I usually preferred the coolness of the room)!! After a little over a month of treatments, with my conditions being pretty much gone, he said I could be released but if any of my symptoms returned I could come back anytime! He mentioned for anything chronic the amount of time and frequency of appointments varies so this is just my personal experience! I would definitely reccomend going if you're thinking it's something you want to try! read more

I had several experiences of acupuncture in the past few years, so I was not afraid of the needles, and David, the acupuncturist, was very good in his method as well as his gentle and caring attitude. I came to see his clinic & to talk to him first to get acquainted and to see if I would want him to give me treatments, I found out about his clinic from a flyer that I picked up at a nearby Health Food Store. In it he stated: affordable acupuncture, which is certainly of help to me. So far I've had over 2 weeks of treatments, my blood pressure has come down, I feel relaxed and energized after each treatment, and very pleasantly calm and cheerful, which is very helpful in the treatment of a rather serious condition I'm working to heal. He doesnt push his patients to make another appointment, however he just gives recommendations according to our needs. It is up to us if we want to follow them. Accupuncture for me was a life saver!!! I totally recommend it and recommend Oasis Community!!!! Their prices I found to be very reasonable. It truly helped me with my pain and I can say that after 5 weeks of treatment, I'm in no pain. The suction cups which is a form of treatment given to me on my second day of treatment in addition to the needles is what really did the trick for me!!! We have to be patient and committed and realize that going 3 days a week is what it may take and that's what it took for me. The first day I went to David I was in extreme pain, I could not sit, lay down, it hurt to walk and forget about sleeping. The 3rd day of treatment I fell asleep and that night I was able to sleep again. Needless to say, I have and will continue to recommend to my friends and family (and If ever I'm in need of treatment) to go to Oasis Community. read more

I have been receiving treatments at Oasis for a couple of months with really good results. My fatigue issues have been greatly impacted and my pain reduced to the point that I am spending less time in my wheelchair. David is pleasant and has a fee structure which works for someone like me on limited disability income. I have wanted to do acupuncture for some time but could not afford what most practitioners charge. Acupuncture works best when treatment is frequent for acute problems and David's sliding scale allowed me to do just that. I recommend this practice to all my friends. read more

The only reason this isn't getting 5 stars yet is because the treatment is still happening and I am not "completely" cured. (and I didn't expect to be, yet, given the condition and the pain I have been dealing with for years now, pre- and post-surgery) I came to Oasis after a total knee replacement in which I was having an abnormal amount of pain, swelling and lack of range of motion, despite PT and all that jazz. I also had a pathological fear of needles (this is someone who, as a child, used to *bite* medical personnel who tried to give me shots) So this was a big hurdle for me. David put me at ease with his laid back but professional manner. I don't think I could have been nearly as successful at transitioning from opiate based pain meds (Oxycodone and oxycontin, both) to nothing without his work. And re the swelling, that was also a success. At one point there was an actual 7/8" difference in the circumference of my knee between two visits of maybe 3 days apart. Range of motion increases slowly but surely. I am realistic enough to think this is not completely acupuncture, but a combination of Western stuff like traditional PT (including a rolling pin over my quads whenever I remember it) and stretching plus the acupuncture. That said though, no way could I be where I am (seriously improved) without it. I am a skeptical human by nature and the needle thing was a serious hurdle, but he has really made a believer out of me. Plus the business model he uses is not only a good thing cost -wise for the patient, but something more service-oriented establishments should look to emulate. David's calm caring and intelligent responses to my incessant questions about how this and that worked is something more folk in the health care field should emulate. read more
