After giving all the information needed I was told "how this would work" which was a speech about how parents are not allowed in during the appointment and I'd have to wait in the waiting room. After saying how that seemed extremely odd and concerning since this is a medical appointment and I'm their parent I was told it was "no different than day care". We don't do daycare either not that this is even remotely the same. Sorry I'm not leaving my small tiny children who I already mentioned were nervous with a man I've never met. I was then told maybe they could arrange for me to "meet him first". There's something very strange or worse going on here. Please steer clear.

I called because our 7 yo has ever never been to the dentist, everytime we made an appointment he was terrified. I think he has a cavity. I asked basic questions, explained it was our first time etc. The receptionist, Cassidy, that I spoke to before 10a on July 28th - rudely asked "Why hasn't you taken him to the dentist?" She asked about my insurance, maybe she assumed we didn't have any - and said it would "need to be paid upfront." Ok. I also see that they have the child in the room alone - no parents, which I expressed that this is not something we would ever do ; I've seen other reviews mention this, as did other mom friends, and even they seem to think it unnecessary and strange. She was rude, unprofessional, lacks decorum - and I told her this ; she then hung up on me. I called back, since I had asked for the spelling of her name and manager's name as this was happening - Amanda would be in on Monday I was told after I called back after she hung up. I could care less what your personal opinion may be, have some tact, be courteous - I will never bring my child here, and be sure to tell every mother in my area and the PTA about this prejudiced and unacceptable interaction. I've never called an establishment for preliminary information and questions as a potential customer and been treated this way. It's odd. I would reconsider who you have as the face of your business, as customer interaction is key.

The hygienist who worked on me was a temporary fill-in -- something I was never informed of beforehand and would have not felt comfortable with if informed. After the fact, I found out the dentist himself didn't even know her full name, how long she had been practicing, or what her experience level was. Despite that, the office allowed her to conduct my entire appointment unsupervised -- from X-rays to cleaning -- with no oversight. She attempted to begin a deep cleaning without any numbing solution. Thank God I asked for it, because even with numbing, I've never experienced pain like that during a cleaning. I had to ask her to stop -- something I've never had to do in my life. I told her she was hurting me, and that it felt like my teeth were being scraped down. She told me that was "impossible." But here we are today -- with almost all of my teeth now visibly jagged and shortened. I have before and after photos showing the damage. At my follow-up, the actual dentist barely acknowledged what happened. He offered no solution other than to "smooth out" my already damaged teeth by shaving them down even more. No accountability or further solution whatsoever. This office was recommended by my daughter's pediatrician -- and to say I'm disappointed is a major understatement. My smile will never be the same, and what she took from me can't be restored. All because the office allowed someone unvetted and unsupervised to work on me. Maybe if I had a different last name and wasn't a new patient, the care would have been different. I don't know. But what I do know is I'm disgusted, and I will be moving forward with formal complaints. Patients deserve transparency, professionalism, and basic respect -- none of which I received here.

In Year 2, I went for my check-up & cleaning and to my SURPRISE there was a different dentist. Also, Destiny Dental DOES NOT HAVE professional dental hygienists who will clean your teeth. Who cleans your teeth? THE DENTIST! I was shocked, the 1st time I went to Destiny, that the Dentist is the ONE performing teeth cleaning. The Dentist did an excellent job cleaning my teeth, but then I thought, wait a minute: Isn't there a better use of her time? Destiny Dental is located near Walmart & Walgreens. Their building/office is hidden and not visible from Touhy Ave. USE YOUR GPS to find it or you might drive right by it. Turn on Central Ave. OFF Touhy (if coming from west to east turn left, but if coming from east to west, turn right on Central). I am coming from west bound to east bound, so I turn LEFT on Central and then another LEFT turn at the very 1st driveway. Destiny Dental is located on the other side of Walgreens. Once you turn left into the 1st driveway, YOU WILL TURN LEFT at the very 1st lot opening. The reason I keep going here is because they accept my dental insurance (Blue Cross/Blue Shield of IL). I don't pay anything for cleaning, x-rays, checkup). I had a molar extracted here and all I paid was $17; my molar was the last one in back on right side. It was very, very loose. It was loose because the bone was NOT holding it in place anymore. The bone was disappearing (shown on x-rays and per Dentist info.). Since molar was very, very loose it popped out easily. I had no pain and, yes, I had a shot to numb the area. I was NOT going to allow the extraction to take place without being numbed up. The procedure went smoothly and I did not experience any complications or pain afterwards. I had a dentist for over 20 years. Unfortunately, he does NOT accept the insurance I now have so I had to find a new Dentist that would take my insurance. This is why and how I ended up going to Destiny Dental in Niles, Illinois.

I do not recommend this Destiny Dental location in Niles…read more I originally scheduled dental appointments for both myself and my daughters last month. The office canceled our appointments the day before we were supposed to be seen. I called back and rescheduled all of our appointments for June 9. Earlier this week, someone from the office called me only about my appointment and told me there was an issue with my insurance and that I needed to contact my insurance company. Today around 3:45 PM, I called the office back and told them to go ahead and cancel my appointment because of the insurance issue. Then, at almost 5:00 PM, they called me back regarding my daughters' appointments and told me there was now an insurance issue with them as well. I was informed that because my daughters have MetLife HMO listed as their primary dental insurance, their Public Aid/BCBS would not cover the visit. They told me I needed to contact MetLife and have my daughters removed from that plan. My issue is this: Why was I being told this less than 24 hours before their appointments? The authorization employee told me that they only verify insurance the day before appointments. But that doesn't make sense because someone from your office had already called me earlier this week about my insurance. If someone was already reviewing our insurance information, why didn't anyone check my daughters' insurance at the same time? Had they called me earlier in the week about my daughters instead of waiting until almost 5:00 PM the day before, I would have had more time to try to resolve the issue. I work in healthcare myself, and we contact patients well in advance when there are insurance problems so they have a fair opportunity to fix them before their appointments. Waiting until the last minute is not good patient care. To make matters worse, the authorization employee became argumentative. She told me that 24 hours was enough notice and then said, "If you work in healthcare, you should've known that." That comment was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Patients should not be blamed for an office's failure to communicate insurance issues in a timely manner. When I first scheduled these appointments, I provided all of our insurance information, including my UnitedHealthcare dental coverage and my daughters' insurance information. I even mentioned the MetLife plan over the phone. The first scheduler told me I could simply bring my insurance cards to the appointment. Then after my original appointments were canceled, I had to provide all of our insurance information again when I rescheduled. Looking back, that should have been a red flag. After the conversation, I asked the authorization employee for her name. She refused to provide it. I then asked for her supervisor's name and the corporate office phone number. She claimed there wasn't a phone number and that there was only an email address. She placed me on hold for about 20 minutes, never came back to the line, and someone eventually picked up and hung up on me. I called back and spoke with someone named Ava. I calmly explained that I wanted the supervisor's name and the name of the employee I had just spoken with. Instead of answering my questions, Ava ignored what I was asking and said they were closing and could only take a message. I reminded her it was only 5:08 PM and the office wasn't supposed to close until 6:00 PM. She then placed me on hold, disconnected the call, answered again when I called back, said, "We're closed," and hung up on me. After that, no one answered my calls. I was never given the authorization employee's name, the supervisor's name, or the corporate contact information I repeatedly requested. Between canceling appointments at the last minute, failing to verify insurance in a timely manner, blaming the patient, refusing to identify staff members, and repeatedly hanging up on me, this was one of the most unprofessional experiences I've had with a healthcare office. Families arrange work schedules and childcare around these appointments. Patients deserve better communication and better treatment than this. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this office to anyone

At that age, losing your smile like that feels devastating-it's not just about looks, it shakes your confidence and makes you feel lost and unlike your true self. I honestly thought I'd never get my personality back again. A good friend of mine recommended Dr. Wittmus. Needless to say, I was terrified about what came next. From the very first appointment, the whole team at Grateful Dental treated me with so much care, patience, and kindness. The team was immediately so understanding of how traumatic my situation was, not just physically but emotionally. They walked me through every step of getting temporary partials and made sure I felt heard and cared for the entire time. I never once felt like "just another patient"- which meant everything to me when I was so shaken up. The temporary partials they gave me look so natural that people don't even realize what happened. I can smile again, I can talk without covering my mouth, and I can finally feel like myself while I wait for permanent implants. That may sound small, but when you're young and going through something like this, it means the world. My temporary partials look and feel absolutely incredible-way better than I expected-putting a smile back on my face. Dr. Wittmus and his team gave me the confidence back that I desperately needed while I heal. The whole staff is professional, compassionate, and truly goes above and beyond for their patients. This team has given me back my confidence which I am forever grateful for. If you're looking for a dentist who has both incredible skill and a genuine heart, this is the place you want to be. This would have been the second time getting his tongue tie cut because the first Dr we went to was a waste of time. Dr. Walnarr didn't seem to care or have any opinion about his tongue or lip tie. I told him about my breastfeeding troubles and he was so nonchalant about the whole ordeal. I know the decision is mine as the mother, however, I'm not a doctor and need expert advice. He was basically like "if you get it, cool. If you don't, cool." However, with Dr. Kollmann, the minute you step into the office it just feels alive. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable (did not get that from Walnarr) and Dr. Kollmann, himself, was a gem! We were walked to a room and asked questions about why we were there and the lady was so sweet and understanding. He went through full detail with me about how the lip and tongue tie can affect breastfeeding and how the frenectomy can help. He showed pictures and videos about how the baby tongue works during suckling and how a tongue tie prohibits motion NEEDED to demand a supply. After the frenectomy, which was a 10minute laser procedure that I did not see, he encouraged me to breastfeed my son for as long as I need!! Other BF moms out there know how special He then went into detail about what exercises to do and what stretches we had to do to keep his lip/tongue tie from growing back or healing improperly. He gave us the tools we need to get started and although it killed me to do that to my LO for the first few days, my BF relationship with my son is thriving. The price I paid for the frenectomy and follow ups is the most bang for your buck out there. The staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly. This will most likely be the place I bring my son in when he starts getting his teeth. Thank you Dr. Kollmann
