I loved my stay here!!! Gorgeous hotel! I love all the bright, colorful, modern decor. The staff is excellent. Everyone was very friendly, and helpful. The restaurant on site is delicious. My mini lobster rolls were fantastic and my mocktail was refreshing. Wonderful location in the Back Bay neighborhood. Close to Boston Common, the library, and many great restaurants. I loved my room. The king size bed and pillows were very comfortable. I appreciated all the details. There was a TV, safe, steamer, robes, Nespresso machine, fridge, complimentary Voss water (both sparkling and still), and lights and curtains controlled with buttons. The bathroom was very spacious with hand towels on both sides of the sink, which I appreciated so my boyfriend and I could each have one. Spacious room and closets. They truly thought of everything. I stayed at AKA Boston Common for 49 days (11/3-12/22, Room 808), so this review reflects a long-term experience rather than a single bad incident. On the surface, this hotel presents as polished and upscale, but over time it became clear that it is a full-on Monet--looks good at a glance, but the closer you get, the more issues appear. During my stay, I was required to move rooms three times--once voluntarily after an upgrade, and twice due to serious maintenance issues, including a sprinkler-system flood. In subsequent rooms, I experienced repeated heating failures, inconsistent hot water, and even a shower head detaching during use. The heating issues were ongoing and never fully resolved. On multiple occasions, my room dropped to 66-67 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 80. Even after maintenance visits, the room never consistently warmed beyond 75 degrees. On the morning before my departure, I woke to cold air blowing again, confirming the problem persisted through the end of my stay. Management follow-through was disappointing. Promises to check back or assist were not kept, and communication was inconsistent at best. While beverage credit was offered, it did not come close to addressing the cumulative disruption, lack of rest, and stress caused by ongoing room issues over nearly seven weeks. The saving grace of this hotel was the weekday bartender, Rebecca. Monday through Friday, she greeted my colleagues and me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and grace after very long workdays. She was consistently excellent. Unfortunately, that level of service was not present on weekends, and our group ultimately chose to avoid the hotel bar until Rebecca returned. That said, I do want to acknowledge Shirley, Wendy, James, and Nate, who were consistently kind, professional, and helpful, as well as the valet staff, who were always efficient and courteous. This hotel may work for a very short stay if expectations are modest. For long-term or extended stays, however, the operational issues, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent hospitality do not align with the image or price point the property presents. read more

I quite enjoyed my stay here on a work trip. Pros: -Gorgeous Views on the high floors. I could watch the sunset over the Harvard bridge every night. -Very attentive staff. -Large and Stylish Rooms. Luxurious feel. -Incredible location - walk anywhere: Beacon Hill, Seaport, Downtown, North End you name it! I suppose it's nice enough. Decently appointed. The design has an air of superiority to it -- like your wealthy but ill-mannered cousin who just discovered Design Within Reach and won't stop talking about "textures." It's conveniently located near Boston Common and, if you enjoy the soothing ambiance of construction equipment, traffic, and confused tourists standing in bike lanes, look no further. I was traveling for work, and my reservation had been fully prepaid as part of a group booking. About ten of us were staying there. My four-night stay totaled just under $2,000, all covered by the company master account. At check-in, though, I was asked for a credit card for "incidentals." Fine. Standard procedure. Then they informed me they needed a $100-per-night security deposit. Four nights = $400. I explained that everything should already be covered. They clarified that the room, taxes, and meals were paid for -- but apparently civilization itself would collapse unless they also held $400 hostage against the possibility that I suddenly developed a passion for minibar Pringles and long-distance phone calls circa 1997. It was late. I had to be awake at 4:00 a.m. for work. After roughly 30 minutes of discussion and a call to the manager, we reached a compromise: I would pay $100 that night so I could access the room that had already been paid for, and settle the remaining $300 the next day. The next morning I left before sunrise, worked all day, and returned exhausted to find my room key no longer worked. At the front desk, the same agent from the night before casually explained: "Yeah, you need to pay the remaining $300 to get back into your room." So naturally I asked: "And if I don't?" I was told my reservation would be canceled and I'd be checked out of the hotel. I then asked the obvious follow-up question: "Would I at least be refunded for the remaining three nights that were already paid for?" "No," they explained, because that would count as my cancellation. Incredible. Truly elite-level customer service. A protection racket with eucalyptus-scented lobby candles. The manager from the previous night came out and confirmed that yes, if I couldn't produce $300 immediately, I would be removed from the hotel and lose the remainder of the prepaid reservation because "the system won't allow" them to check me in otherwise. We had reached a beautiful little corporate stalemate where a fully paid guest was effectively being held hostage over hypothetical incidentals. At this point, the person who had booked and paid for my room happened to walk into the lobby. I had to awkwardly explain that despite the room being fully paid for, I was apparently moments away from becoming homeless in downtown Boston because my card had been declined for the incidentals deposit. She handed over an Amex. Bonny and Clyde at the front desk ran the card and suddenly my room keys worked again. And just like that, their entire tone changed. Now that I was a verified member of society again, they warmly asked if I'd like some bottled water. "No thank you." (If you're from Boston, you understand this translates roughly to: "Go fu** yourselves.") Back in the room, I settled into the bed, which I'll admit was genuinely comfortable. Unfortunately the toilet was running, and the construction workers directly outside my window were passionately debating music choices at full volume. True story. Sadly. I lived in Hotel AKA Boston as part of my 5 day 4 night work trip. I was honestly really happy with my stay. In terms of location, we were very close to almost everything! The park was right outside too. The service was great and the amenities were pretty good too. One thing that stood out in particular is that they have DAILY HAPPY HOUR from 4pm-5pm. Essentially you get to mingle with other guests, or you could even just hang over yourselves over a few glasses of red or white wine. If you are to order delivery however, it can not be delivered to your door, the elevator requires your room key to access other floors, which is good for safety! That is not a big deal though, you simply pick it up in the lobby. I had a great view from my room and it really added to my overall experience here at Hotel AKA as well! Would 100% recommend and I would totally come back the next time I'm in Boston as well. read more

This hotel was so perfect for our family of four. We requested the 19th floor and had an incredible view. Google Cast worked perfectly on the TV. Front desk was amazing. The staff are super nice and make you feel welcome the moment you walk in without feeling overbearing. The only two faults I have with this hotel are: 1, the room was fairly dark even with all of the lights on. The staff was the worst part. Front desk employees were extremely rude and only when they realized we booked through a third party. We even tried to extend our stay for an extra night and offered to book direct thru the hotel and they were so cold and quoted me the most ridiculous price. I am a very picky consumer with a very high bar... The minute I walked in the hotel. It was love at first sight. The vibe the energy everything about this hotel just screams high class and inviting. I'm going to update my review tomorrow but I will say that to the right once you walk in the front door there's this really amazing cozy bar that is open until 11 PM every night with a great bartender named Rebecca who couldn't have been more hospitable... I walked in and she gave me a big hello and asked me where I was from. Made me feel so welcome. It's very rare to find a hotel that has a cozy intimate welcoming bar open until 11 PM at night on weeknights... I will tell you from all my business Travel usually the bar is closed at nine or 10 PM. An expensive tote bag was left in my room, I called front desk and filed a report the same day (a few hours after check out) and it was "never found". Will not be staying again, and will be recommending that my company doesn't book here again. I have always enjoyed staying at Kimpton hotels due to their modern decor and they are dog-friendly. This hotel had a great location right next to the Boston Common park and at the start of the Freedom Trail. There are also subway stations located within a few minutes of the hotel. During my entire stay, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful to answer any of my questions. The hotel and room were very clean. I would most likely stay here again during my next stay in Boston. Don't be fooled by the nice photographs. It was the worst nights sleep in a hotel I've had in years. And we are pretty easy to please. Rooms are average to small in size, but it's inner city so okay. High priority for us in a hotel stay is 1. Bed 2. Privacy and security 3. A good nights sleep. King size bed was a piece of crap with a hole sink in the middle. The door to our room #703 doesn't seal shut. You can hear people waaaay down the hall talking to each other and while hallway traffic noise is understandable, this was as if they were part of our stay. Workers were yelling and singing loudly. And SLAMMING DOORS all night long. Every time someone closed a door on our floor, ours would shake. And I don't mean vibrate, I mean shake and rattle like someone grabbed the handle and was trying to come in. When we told the front desk, they totally knew what we were talking about. This is not a new problem, this is an unaddressed problem. So they offered to return the $23 amenities fee. Nice gesture. I would rather have a peaceful nights sleep. I give the stay over 2 stars. Half the furniture is Lux, but built- ins look like they're from walmart. Maybe that's why the rooms are kept so dark. The decor is well chosen, but poorly executed. Service was nice and friendly but the whole atmosphere is unimpressive. Spend your money somewhere else. read more

This hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Boston! It's right in the heart of all the sites of the city, very near the Boston Common and the Freedom Trail. The Granary Burying Ground is right across the street! The staff go above and beyond to be welcoming and friendly! Very helpful! Everything was spotless as well. So, as far as the decor - I get what they're trying to do with the vibe, but it kinda comes off as retro 80s bachelor pad sorta lol. It's not bad - it's kinda swanky I guess - but just not my thing lol. I'd still stay here again anyway! I had a 2 queen bed room. It was very roomy for a downtown hotel! The bathroom was huge! And the toiletries were nice. The beds were very comfortable...but the sheets were torn up kinda! They definitely need to replace them and this is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5...and also bc the parking is a pain...I only parked long enough to unload my car before I took it back to the rental car return bc they're overnight parking charges are insanely exorbitant- even by my LA standards! It's $55 per day! I was shocked! So I opted to return my car and just Uber back - saved a ton lol. In order to park just to unload you still have to give it to the valet, but they didn't charge me (I was only gone for like 10-15 minutes) - so that was cool of them. The entrance to the valet parking area is kinda hidden off a side street so I ended up circling around a couple of times before I found it. Oh also be aware - they have a little "store" in the hotel lobby with drinks and candy bars and souvenirs - the prices are insane so I advise you to plan ahead and bring any snacks you want - a regular sized candy bar was $4!! read more

Great hotel, great service. Came here during my short visit to Boston. Personally the rooms were a bit dark and moody, and wished there was better lighting in the rooms. The hotel lacked the amenities you'd expect for a boutique hotel. Beautiful attention to details and the decor is very chic and unique in its own flair. Rooms were very tidy, clean, and spacious. Great location just across the street from the Park Street T, Boston Commons, and other touristy locations including easy access to Northend. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and helped me with various issues I had with my room. Definitely would still recommend for a boutique hotel experience nearby Boston Commons. read more

So the location of this hotel relative to the subway, park, historical points of interest and port is amazing. The service was what really brought down this rating. To start, we arrived at noon and check in was at 4. The hotel desk said they would call when the room was ready so we left our luggage and went out to explore. They never called us that our room was ready. Never. We assumed it was ready at 4 pm but by then we had to board our sunset cruise so it was after 8 pm when we got back to the room to check in. Then they had to find our luggage because it was not in the luggage lock up. We were a bit tired and frustrated at this point. So for base room rates between $540-$630 per night, you would think you would at least get a bottle of water each day - but no. Practically had to beg to get one during the 4-5 pm happy hour each day which we tried to attend because - why not?!? The really ugh part is that when we went to leave and removed our items from the in room safe of room 1107- which was a handicapped room by the way because it was the most reasonable room rate- which always includes lifting the liner in the safe so things don't get missed, all kinds of crumbs and food debris came spilling out of the safe. Like ugh. Kind of makes you wonder how long it was and if that wasn't properly cleaned what else was missed. Four nights cost over $2750 and honestly I would look elsewhere next time based on our interactions with some of the front desk staff and the room cleanliness issue. Oh. And they sent a letter out one day that they were testing the fire alarm at 10 am but it was really 9:30 am - that's a bit of a morning surprise. read more

We stayed here in early October for a few days. The room was nice and clean. I liked the clean minimalistic design of the room. However, I had two gripes about the room. The tv was on the far corner of the room on a low tv stand. If you were on the opposite side of the room, either on the bed or the leather chair, you couldn't see half of the tv. The other one was that the remote-controlled curtains would get stuck sometimes and wouldn't open or close properly. These were small nuisances. The hotel lobby was under construction which wasn't really a bother for us as we'd be out mostly during the day when construction would happen. We stayed primarily for the location. This was a good and bad thing. We were right next to the Boston Common which was great. However, our room was also right next to the alleyway where they delivered goods for the businesses nearby which wasn't great, as we could hear them loading and unloading items. Now to the major nuisance. Early one morning, after a long night of exploring the city, we get woken up by a loud speaker shouting that a fire alarm test would commence or something to that effect. We were never notified of an early morning fire alarm test. I don't understand why a fire alarm test would occur early morning at a hotel. It would make more sense to have it done around late morning/mid-day when most guests are not in their hotel rooms. This was an aggravating experience to say the least. The hotel could have been better at communicating with their guests on this. Staff and customer service was alright. When we checked in, the person seemed apathetic and not super welcoming. For the price, it could've been a much better experience. read more

The staff was great I love Kimpton hotels because of the free coffee are in the morning as well as the free use of rental bikes. I stayed at a Kimpton 3 years back in Chicago and it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had, fast forward to 2019 and this Kimpton Nine Zero Hotel in Boston has given me the same amazing experience. From the gentleman helping valet my car to the front counter staff everyone was super friendly and super helpful throughout my visit. The hotel itself was absolutely stunning featuring a full restaurant, a free wine hour (I don't drink, but I imagine this is a cool bonus for those that do), and some of the best art I've ever seen hanging up on some hotel walls. My room was absolutely beautiful featuring one giant bed, a flat screen, a wonderful standing shower, and a nice view of some buildings as well. On top of everything above, the Kimpton Nine Zero hotel allows dogs at no additional fee and that's how you know you are dealing with a respectable hotel. Overall, this is probably the only hotel I'll stay at if I find myself coming back to Boston. The 5 star experience I had was unmatchable and I couldn't see looking for another place. Do yourself a favour and give this hotel a shot, you will not be let down. read more

We love the decor and the feel of this hotel. Everything was fine except the fact that the room was scorching hot. We came during the end of March and they only have the heater service on, and no fan or AC option. Even though the outside temperature was at low 70s. We first came in the room and it was pretty warm at 75, and turned on the "AC" or temp down to 65, we thought there was AC or even a fan and left for the day to sightsee. We came back for the night and the room was scorching hot!! The temp read 86!! I called the front desk and they said there's no ac or fan, only heat (thanks for telling us that first) and to turn it off and it'll cool down eventually. Uhhh... ok. So we cracked open the window- and slept with the window opened, with all the street noise, uncomfortably hot, sweating... worst hotel experience ever. Woke up early morning at 6 to leave for the airport and the temp read 74, great.. still warm and gross, no air, in the room. We should have slept with our door open bc the hallway was nice and cool. Stayed again at this lovely hotel for a night ahead of the busy holiday weekend. The staff has really brought their A-games during this pandemic. They are genuine, thoughtful, and caring. What a treat during these times. Kareem checked us in and he was so kind. We feel like we're going to our vacation home when staying at this property in Boston. Or to the Cheers bar for those of you that remember that reference. While everyone might not know our names here, they act like they care and that matters a lot. Check in was a breeze. Valet was too. Missed wine hour (that is from 5-6 in the lobby), but headed up to the room to relax before dinner. Better Sorts (the hotel bar and restaurant) is still closed due to the pandemic, BUT Nine Zero has partnered with to local eateries. Mast (literally around the back of the building) is a hopping spot for food and drink. You get 15% off your bill too (see Nine Zero's website for more info). They also partnered with Cafe Bonjour which is just 0.2 miles away. This lovely spot has breakfast and lunch items from 8am-2pm daily. I ordered breakfast this morning and it was delicious. You get 10% off your bill there. Way to go Nine Zero! Love supporting these local businesses. Our room was perfect for relaxing and working remotely in the morning. Beds are comfortable. Eames chairs are always my favorite. They are spacious for a city hotel. Do note that this hotel is pet friendly and was several years ago. You'll notice a little wear and tear from piggy guests and their fur children. Otherwise, this hotel is clean, safe, and unique. The location is perfect for getting to almost everything in Boston. While the hotel is nice, it's just a tad bit worn for wear, but the location is pretty good. There's no restaurant, to be clear, but they recommend a cafe down the street and you get 20% off. We forget that part when we checked out, oops. It's super packed and a line out the door for this spot, as there's no reservations. But the food was good and the service was fantastic. Real nice people that work there. Brunch type spot. To be clear, I'm usually the reviewer that leaves good reviews for establishments that work hard to serve their clients and give them a great experience. My husband and I are both business owners ourselves. Unfortunately, I have a bad taste in my mouth right now. Let me tell you a little secret about service industry, when your client is telling you they have a medical condition and need your help finding a solution, it's best you don't talk over them, reprimand them and tell them there is nothing you can do about it. When clearly, there is. Ugh, I hate doing this. So, there is a woman at the front desk who has been very combative since the morning I arrived. She has yelled at me and talked down to me on the phone twice today. Twice. I called her out for doing these things and then she has the audacity to tell me I'm the one actually doing it. Gaslight much? I was trying to speak to her and kept getting shut down. Of course I'm raising my voice, you're talking over me to the point where I can't hear myself anymore. Battling me over the phone about not having a solution. Almost like, "BLAH BLAH BLAH I CANT HEAR YOU!" I mean, that's what I heard because I don't actually listen to grown adults that talk over other grown adults. Especially when it's happening to myself. She was completely insincere, didn't make me feel heard, spoke over me, gaslit me and only once I kept pushing for a solution did she magically find one. It wasn't that hard either, quite obvious solution in fact. But she was saying, okay, but it's going to be a lower floor and won't be ready for hours. I said that's fine. Just get me out of this particular room. Here's the kicker...my husband went down to the front desk, softened her up and by the grace of God she came up with an even better solution...which was immediately done. Wow! So, let me get this straight...she told me it wasn't possible, then it was kinda possible but I would need to wait hours. So there it is, she was purely being combative with me, the client, just to do it. Wow. This is who you have hired to take care of clientele. I would have shrugged this off, but this is a pattern. This woman had been overtly combative since the first phone call to the hotel in the morning. I called three times, which I finally got an answer on the third after a couple of random hang ups when I was put through to the answering service initially. I told her that I called and there were a couple of hang ups or disconnects before getting through to her finally...not pointing fingers by any means, it's just something I would want to know if I was running the place. She argued that wasn't possible, that she was the only one there right now and that absolutely didn't happen. Wait, what? Am I being accused of making this up? For what??? And now we're fighting over my truth? Why??? I ended up hanging up, I didn't need to talk to someone like that at 9am. Geez. When we got to the hotel, as we were getting finished checking in, she talks to Not sure if it's just density, or if she really has an issue with serving her clients. If I was management, I would rectify this issue immediately. From other reviewers, I see I'm not alone in this. *For the sake of the background of the story, we were put in a room that faced a wall and a roof. Nice little corner spot next to the service door and ice machine. Very nice for 4 days here, lol. The rooftop access made me very cautious, as the windows open to the roof. I was trying to explain this to her and she just kept telling and yelling at me that the hotel was fully booked and that's what I am stuck with. Mind you, it's 1pm, we arrived here at 9am...you got us one of the first rooms available after the cleanings, and now you're telling me that you can't move me? Even though we're one of the very first to check in??? That everyone has checked in to the hotel by 1pm that day and I'm stuck on the roof? Nope, that was just for me. She made my life harder just because she could. I was crying from the fight with her over the phone. I felt trapped here. $500/night and I don't even feel safe. I was looking at flights home before my husband went to the front desk and fixed it. Now I get to stay here for 4 days with someone who went out of their way to NOT MAKE ME FEEL WELCOME or SAFE. Great. This is just uncomfortable and has caused a rift my first visit to Boston. I don't even want to walk past the front desk anymore. But maybe I don't have to since we got this MUCH BETTER ROOM! I can just stay here until we leave. read more

We stayed recently at this well-located hotel. Check in was swift, and they honored our request for an upper level room. Some renovations were taking place off the lobby so we had to deal with that. We wound up with a nice room on the 17th floor with great views of the city. The room was spacious and the bedding comfortable. The heat in our room worked well enough, but the nicely appointed bath was chilly. We had breakfast in their restaurant, which was good but pricey. Service at the restaurant was prompt and professional. We wish the add-on charges weren't so high. Still, we'd stay here again. read more

Great hotel, the kindest and friendliest service, and wonderful location. The Kimpton Nine Zero is a block away from the Boston Common and truly within walking distance to all that you could need. To adapt with COVID times, hand sanitizing stations were throughout the hotel and in the elevators. Unfortunately, that also meant no hotel bikes were available for use, the restaurant was closed, and other amenities that are charged with the $25 amenity fee were not offered. Check-in was very fast. I checked in and set my preferences on the IHG app. All I had to do when I arrived was show my ID and pick up my room keys. Rooms were very clean, and as I was traveling with my dog, they offered to bring dog bowls and a bed to the room. Everyone was so kind and accommodating to me and my dog. Valet is very on top of opening doors for anyone that enters and exits the hotel, regardless of whether or not you valet your vehicle. The only downsides to this visit was the amenity fee charge despite the hotel not be able to offer the usual amenities, and the wait for my car from valet. They ask what time you'll be checking out in advance, but we noticed that they didn't have anyone's cars ready, so if you do valet, just plan to wait at least 10-15 minutes for them to get your car. Overall though, I would stay here again and would recommend! read more

Terrible experience. Couldn't have been any worse on so many levels. From the hotel's management who couldn't be bothered to return emails to the front desk staff who didn't care, I am so upset as to what IHG has done to the Kimpton brand! Kimpton's customer service used to be a selling point ... now the expectation is to be treated like cattle. I booked a room online which was an 'extra space' room. I payed more for the larger room and online the photos made it look like something out of a magazine ... leather headboard, spacious layout, plenty of natural light, marble bathroom with a rainfall shower, etc. Upon walking into the room, it was worn out, dirty, scuffed furniture and a 1970s style shower/tub combo where my head hit the ceiling it was so small. I called down to complain and they asked me to come down and get a key to a new room. Hmmm ... great customer service. So I schlepped my bags down to the lobby, exchanged keys and rode the elevator back up to my new room. Walk in and it's the size of a postage stamp. They had given me the smaller room even though I paid for a large room. This one had equally scratched up and stained furniture and it had a glass stand up shower with no tub but the grey marble floor was stained brown. Lovely. I was running late already for a business meeting as check in to this point took 40+ minutes. So, I had to leave and stay in the small room, even though I paid for a better room. Let me also say the rooms do not look anything like the photos. What interior designer would ever use dark grey paint on the walls of a tiny room, I have no idea. The room was dark and dreary and had all the appeal of a haunted house. The floor and woodwork was also dark brown so it was a depressing den of dark colors with few lamps. I felt like it was 1882. The most uncomfortable hotel room I can recall being in. The desk and headboard (fake leather) was stained and scratched up so bad it looked like it belonged in a second hand store. Tons of rings from coffee cups and glasses on the desk. Kimpton should be ashamed of themselves. The room had no room to move around and at night there were two orange lights which could not be turned off at the top of the headboard. The whole room glowed orange making it impossible to sleep. The next morning I went for the free breakfast included in my rate. They told me I needed a coupon which should have been given to me at check-in so back down to the desk I go. The desk agent tells me that my rate doesn't include breakfast. I assure him it does. He says it doesn't. So I went into my phone, pulled up the reservation and showed him ... the rate description in my confirmation clearly says 'Breakfast Included'. He says, 'Oh that's a mistake. I guess we will honor it though.' This was the IHG direct booking! Why would it be a mistake? And even if it was, you don't act like you are doing me the favor. This exchange took 20 minutes and I went upstairs and they were starting to remove items from the buffet at 10 o'clock on a weekend, so I ate quick. Breakfast on Saturday that ends at 10 a.m.? I couldn't wait to leave my Dracula's Castle looking room and explore the city. The hotel is in a nice area near Boston Common and Back Bay. Lots of bars, restaurants and shopping nearby. I checked out upon returning and mentioned I was not given the room size I paid extra for. The front desk agent lied and said that was the larger size room. A complete lie. I read him the square footage and told him I have an app on my phone that measures and I'd be happy to measure it with him. He then admitted it was a mistake and the room was the smaller room. I asked to refund the extra I paid and he said impossible. He said all he could do was award some extra points. Two months later and they never were awarded. Liar x 2. There was no valet there and we waited 10 minutes to get our car. Upon returning, I posted a bad review and the manager replied and asked me to contact him so he could make things right. I emailed and never heard anything back. I figured ... Overall this was one of the worst hotel stays of the year for me. Oh yeah ... and the hotel charges a $30 'resort fee'. For what??? No pool here, no jacuzzi, no sauna, no gym on property. There wasn't even a pad of paper in the room or free bottled water. They had a cocktail reception with 2 bottles of wine and dry peanuts in little paper cups. What a scam. Instead of charging a resort fee for ZERO resort amenities, just give the actual price of the room as +$30. Scammers. SO many better places to stay in Boston. The rooms are dark, depressing and dreary and the staff is useless from the top down. The only nice person we encountered was the maid. Avoid this dump and stay at The Fairmont or the Westin instead. read more

Lovely boutique hotel at walking distance from everything - restaurants, Boston Commons, you name it. Attentive, friendly staff. The hotel has a unique atmosphere ... relaxing and "hip" at the same time! Internet is free, fast, and straightforward so streaming sticks/devices work exceedingly well. Love the rooms - the bathrooms are well-above average - which feel upscale and comfy at the same time. It's our second stay and we'll gladly do it again! read more

Do not stay here. My husband and I stayed here for four nights over the Boston Marathon weekend. On the first night someone entered our room, with a key, at 2:00 AM. We immediately called the front desk and they said "sorry it was the security guard" and offered no additional information. The next morning, we spoke to the manager and she apologized, stated the security guard "didn't follow protocol" and she was going to talk to her manager and "take care of us". She stated that because we booked the room through a third party she couldn't immediately comp the room charges but she would continue to look into it and said that by Tuesday (our check out day) she should be able to take care of room charges, and in the meantime she would remove the daily "resort fee" (which was only $40 a day..... nothing compared to the nightly room fee over marathon weekend). She also offered to comp anything we charged to the hotel restaurant / bar, but we told her that we wouldn't be eating there as we had made prior reservations elsewhere. We were led to believe for the next few days that they were going to make it right, even through our checkout time, at which the front desk employee told us the manager was in her office but would take care of us and call / email later. We thought ok great and checked out. Only to receive an email that said "hey we comped your resort fees and the one breakfast you charged to the room, so I think that's fair enough". This was out of left field. She completely scammed us. And let me reiterate, a man entered our room, in the middle of the night, using a key. Absolutely unacceptable. I would've considered staying at the hotel again, the location is great, had they not lied in their attempts to make it right, but they clearly have zero regard for security or hospitality. In choosing a hotel to stay in Boston. I saw the hotel A.K.A. Boston Common. The room was very nice, it was on a high floor. I will say whatever is the cleaner that they are using is a very pungent and is a little hard to work with in the room.The one thing that was very important to us was to be able to have room service breakfast in the morning. So, I made sure to call the guest services desk and was told they had room service. Later that night we looked for a menu to order rooms service. Called the front desk only to be informed that they did not have room service. Big let down to find that out at 9pm. It would seem that at a $400 a night hotel room the people at guest services should know if they did or DID NOT know if they have room service. It really soured the stay. :-(. - ADDED after our Conversation with the front desk when I checked out. When I brought to their attention and the fact that someone who answered the phone at the number that is listed on the website told us there was room service. Their answer to me was " We don't have room service, we haven't had it since Covid." Again, I said the person that answered the phone with "guest serivces" was the person who answered the phone told me they had room service. The desk said to me well it's on the website, did you read the website. Yes - it's about the restaurant which actually for breakfast really isn't a full breakfast. So I just picked up the phone to see if they had room service. And when they said yes that is the reason that I booked the room. All they really did at the desk was to dispute the fact and I must've made some mistake. We don't know who answered the phone. Sour faces at the front desk. Good management begins with "We apologize this happened and we will look into it. We appreciate your bringing it to our attention." The right words go a long way. read more

Meh, for the price you can surely get better in the area. The rooms aren't necessarily small, but they are. And there aren't any extras - no in-room coffee machine or extra towels. Literally my husband and I are staying here for five days and we have two towels in our room. Our bathroom fan also won't turn off. Movies on the TV are $20. The entrance to the building off the street is a rotating door that you have to push, which is heavy and so gross post-pandemic. The fragrance in the foyer/entrance hits you and you choke because it is so strong. The positive? We were able to check in early after our red-eye over to Boston from the west coast. Also the location is really close to the Boston marathon shuttle bus pick-up and finish line, which is good for my husband, who is running it on Monday. read more

The staff were pleasant and polite from the check-in staff to the valet staff. Everything else except the desk chair was as expected for the price paid per night ~300 per night; the desk chair was little and uncomfortable to sit on because I had to use it for work for several hours, hence the 1 star off. Looooooved staying at Nine Zero in Boston! The staff was wonderful, as Kimpton is very customer-focused and driven. The moment I checked in (which was substantially early but my room was ready, to collecting my bags after checking out and having them held, I cannot wait to return. Nine Zero is located perfectly in the heart of Boston, right across from Granary Burial Ground, steps from the Park Street T station (red and green lines) and a super quick walk to Boston Commons or to the North End. Highly recommended place to stay when coming to Boston! read more
