Small, 150 sf, high tech Japanese style room. Perfect for late arrival early departure type of stay or one person. Good value for king size bed $175 total on this Tuesday night in March. The architecture of this hotel is stunning. Compliments to whoever designed this beautiful building and the owners for the investment. The decoration of the rooms is minimalist, which is nice. The decoration in the lobby and bar is modern but inviting with plenty of comfortable seating. The bar restaurant is open 24 hours. They have a great deck outside that I enjoyed to relax. They have a club on the roof that sounds hip if you are into that type of thing. Some of the staff like the evening bartenders were pleasant, helpful and professional. Some of the staff (morning coffee) are strangely unpleasant or overly and unnecessarily flamboyant (check in) who wasn't helpful and strangely got too close to my personal space. I'm sure the outstanding staff do not like working with people that should not be working there. Management needs to observe the staff's behavior around guests and correct. Still, 5 stars....

Came to Boston for a little getaway and we stayed here at the Citizen M. Upon arrival you must come in on street level and use elevator to get to the second floor where the front desk is located. Once at front desk it's iPads and digital check in. You log in and make your own room keys. It was pretty speedy and easy to do. We got to our room on the 9 th floor and the view is killer. The room itself it pretty small and cozy. The bathroom is a small shower toilet combo. The room is all run by an iPad. You control lights and tv from iPad. It took a little while to get used to iPad controlling everything but it's kinda kool. There are mood lights and fun colors to spice up your shower. The bed is comfy and large although you have no ability to walk around the bed. I slept next to window and had to crawl over my partner to get on my side. The room has curtains and a night shade for complete darkness which are also controlled by the iPad. It was super nice to have pure darkness while we slept. The pillows are too big and we will be asking front desk for slimmer pillows for the rest of our stay. Overall very comfy room and cozy. The price is little high but that's Boston. The bar on the second floor is fun and they make amazing espresso martinis. The staff were so nice and friendly. The hotel and bar are super chic and clean. Kinda tech fancy and upbeat. Overall I liked our stay here and would come back or recommend to friends. It's super walkable and near a lot of great eateries.

The CitizenM group of hotels are the newest members of the Marriott Bonvoy program. We spent a long weekend here and the hotel was exactly as described. You arrive downstairs and take the elevator to the 2nd floor, where you check in with an iPad. There is staff available if you need assistance. After making your key card, there is another set of elevators to get to your room. We were on the 9th floor with great views. The rooms are small....like whoever sleeps by the window has to crawl over the other person to get out bed. There are drawers under the bed for storage, and there is a small desk. Everything in the room is controlled by an iPad (lights, blackout shades!, curtains, the TV, etc.). There is a night light feature to help you find the bathroom in the dark. The sink is outside of the bathroom, which has a toilet and shower. The 2nd floor is referred to as the living room and it is quite a cozy space for relaxing, working or having a drink. The bar staff was welcoming and offered recommendations. Don't miss the rooftop bar! Even if you don't stay for a drink, the views are amazing as you look out over Boston towards Cambridge. I recommend and would stay here again. Located at the end of Newbury, it's easy to walk to the public garden and the Boston common as well as being extremely close to Fenway.

If you are looking for an affordable hotel room with a view in Boston, I highly recommend the CitizenM Boston Back Bay. This hotel is perfect for the solo traveler, business person, student or a couple who likes to travel light. The room are a small studio-like cozy space with the bed nestled up to the window. The closet is somewhat small, but there is ample space to store clothing and luggage under the bed for an out of sight/out of mind vibe. The ambiance of CitizenM is very international with rooms feeling like one part Japanese minimalist and one part sleek euro/scandi modern. I LOVED it. Spent 8 days here in the fall. It is VERY close to the "T" subway station entrance/exit (Hynes Convention Center exit on the green line). This made it an excellent choice for those wanting to explore Boston and also have a view of the city. It's across the street from lots of shops and restaurants on Newbury Street. There is a lovely bar/cafe in the lobby. The lobby also doubles as a co-working space for local students and business professionals. This is also a great space to hang out before you end your stay (as check out happens around 11am. There is a rooftop bar with beautiful views of the back Bay Area of Boston if you just want to visit. Hotel staff consistently went above and beyond for service. I had a minor house keeping issue and their response was prompt and caring. Hot tip: I highly recommend paying the $100 to become a member - this allowed me to have a high level floor with an amazing view as well as a late check out! It pays for itself and is applicable at all CitizenM Hotels worldwide.

I would consider this the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed at. The width of the room is literally the length of the bed. This would make it hard for the person sleeping closest to the window to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Other than that, they make very good use of what little space there is, and the location is walkable to Fenway park (which is why I stayed here), and at the end of Newbury Street, but still walkable to the Copley, Eataly end of Back Bay. Do not stay here if you have a car or lots of luggage. Otherwise, stay here to enjoy the modern amenities (the alarm clock was the best! When it was time to wake, the tv went on with audio of the middle of a busy NYC street) in this minimalist hotel.

Had to make a quick trip to Boston for a business meeting. CitizenM as a new addition to the Marriott brand proved to be an excellent choice. At the end of Newbury Street and across from the T stop, it is at a great location between Boston and Cambridge. The room is small but very efficiently laid out. The common area on second floor offers great workspace, not unlike a coworking space. Great shopping on Newbury. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Across from CitizenM is the newly opened Avra, if you like Greek cuisine.

We had a great 2-night stay at CitizenM. The check-in process was super easy, thanks to the kiosk where you can check in, pay, and create your room keys all in one go. Our room had a similar feel to a place we stayed in Singapore, but CitizenM took it a step further with more tech-savvy features. You can control the blinds, TV, lights--basically everything--with a tablet. Plus, you can set the lighting mood to your liking. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and the bar and bites were a nice touch with late hours. The only downside was the lack of burgers and wings on the menu. Also, they don't allow outside food in the dining area. I would definitely stay here again when in Boston.

Stayed here for a few days at a time. Location is very convenient close to green line, seven eleven, and shops on Newbury. Room is Comfortable for the most part slightly on the chillier side. Space is cozy though. Very high tech and convenient check in check out process. Most of the staff is very friendly. The reason I'm taking two stars off is cleanliness. Considering this hotel was built in 2023 I expect it be very clean. Some rooms are better than others. Floor 14 has slightly better rooms but sheets have stains. Floor 7 is very sloppy with cleaning. I see marks on the toilet, dirty corners on sink and mirror. Mainly mold in shower I could even smell the mildew. Cleanliness is a very important factor in hotels and it's a shame the hotel is new and already like this.

Affordable hotel in the heart of downtown Boston. It's very modern from the lobby area to the rooms. Check in was a breeze. We opted for the top floor with a view and it was great! I had fun using the tablet or their app from my phone to access everything in our room, lights, tv, blinds, AC, etc. Our room is small but has a king size bed lol. It has all the necessities we need and apparently the water from the faucet is safe to drink, and that's what I did. We opted to add their breakfast buffet in our reservation and it was a variety of choices for $20. They have hot food such as scrambled eggs, bacon, beans and corned beef with potatoes. French pastries like croissant and pain au chocolate, cereals, blueberry and banana muffins, yogurt, fresh fruits, smoked salmon, and coffee. They also have barista coffees which you can purchase. The hotel has a bar that is open 24/7. We went for a drink and their draft beers were reasonably priced. I just wish they have more options for snacks to partner with their alcoholic drinks like cheese platter for the wines or chicken wings for the beers. Since they had none of those, I decided to just get the hummus with pita chips. It was good and plenty for $8.50. It was a great experience and we would definitely stay here again if we get a chance.

This hotel reminds me of a font. Like Helvetica Now, it's refined with perfect spacing and clarity, especially the tall, waterproof, well-appointed shower cube with high rain head. Ultra-clean and minimalist. Like Avenir Next, it's "hipster elegant" (think Virgin Hotel) with a polished modernism. Like Futura, it's geometric with sleek branding. Like Neue Haas Grotesk, it's simultaneous sharp and smooth. Like Sora, it is digital-age with a subtle tech feel that is somehow warm, especially the large, well-appointed social spaces and digital controls for media, climate, and blackout blinds. Like Gotham, it's bold and modern with a super clean presence. Like TT Norms Pro, it's geometrically precise but inviting. Like Quicksand, you will want to sink into your weird futuristic train/dorm room XL king bed and fluffy pillows lodged against the sound-proof wall-to-wall window with drive-in theater-like widescreen smart flatscreen. Like Overpass, it's near major freeways and commerce centers, perfect for tourists. Like Work Sans, you will want to be without work, but there's plenty of cubby space for laptop business. If it fits your budget, and you don't mind the "European" size, this is an excellent choice. Overall, it's Grand Hotel, bold.

We will 110% stay here over and over. Easy, contactless check in. Extremely accessible, and nearby so many attractions. We picked it because of the proximity to Fenway for an event - super easy walk! Rooms are great. Small, reminiscent of a cruise ship feel - but effective. Stayed with my husband and daughter. Full length windows. Great lighting. Bed VERY comfortable. The room darkening shades are UNREAL - we slept til 830 am!

My boyfriend and I spent Valentine's Day at the CitizenM Back Bay location this weekend and we absolutely loved it. I'd stayed at the Northstation location a few years prior and we were having dinner on Newbury St, so this seemed perfect. I love the contemporary, art deco style of this hotel. Super vibrant and very well maintained. The rooms are cozy, perfect for individuals or couples. We didn't have any issues with our room. We loved that the tap was drinkable and they had a station by the bar to fill your water bottle with cold water. Stunning view of Boston and the Charles River. We were also able to hook our Netflix up to the TV easily. Because my boyfriend signified on the reservation that it was for V-Day, they were kind enough to provide us with a Happy V-Day sign and some balloons, as well as two "free drink" cards to use at their bar! So thoughtful. After dinner we popped by the bar, which was pretty busy. We were served quickly and the drinks were delicious! Bar staff is super friendly, they even let us get a bottled sprite on the house. We took our drinks to another part of the common space and played some chess. To our surprise, we found another "free drink" card that the staff had hidden for guests to find! We thought it was a riot and my boyfriend was delighted to score another free drink. The next morning we just wanted a small snack to hold us over before heading out to get brunch. We stopped by their breakfast area and they let us know the full breakfast was $20/person (very reasonable). However, since we each only wanted a pastry and some juice, we asked to buy it a la carte (which was an option for pastries I believe). The staff behind the bar let us take it for free! We were so touched. The orange juice tasted freshly squeezed and the blueberry muffins are to DIE for! Clearly they care about their guests here. We had such an awesome experience in the short stay we had and we are already planning to go back for a weekend trip soon. Would highly recommend!!!

I went here for the bar and had a great experience! The bar is on the second floor and is attached to a lovely terrace. I ordered my drink at the bar and then took it outside with me. The terrace vibes were great and it was quite empty when I went (the bartender said it gets busy when there is a Red Sox game or convention at hynes). Overall I'd definitely recommend this spot and I can't wait until the 14th floor rooftop bar finally opens!

The staff was so helpful, very kind. The room was clean, and the hotel itself is well kept. Parking... ok so there is valet right at the front, they said $70. I will highlight key points below: Room: The room was very spacious and offered a giant bathroom with big stall shower. There was a chaise lounge for relaxing, as well as a desk with a comfortable chair. Instead of a lame coffeemaker, the room included a Nespresso machine. The bath products were by a company called Apoteke from Brooklyn and seemed high-end. The television offered live TV and access to various streaming services if you entered your logins (supposedly deleted after checkout). The room was relatively soundproof from neighbors and outdoor noise. Plus, everything was spotless! The only issue was the bed, which I found lumpy and uncomfortable. I was not sure if there was a feather topper or something, but it felt like I was lying on a mattress full of crumbled tissues. The pillows were fine, though. ROSE Town Kitchen & Bar: I did not dine here, but heard the breakfasts were good. However, I was there for evening cocktails and was impressed with the vast list of beverage options. The Temperature Rising with Ghost Blanco Tequila, Chinola, lime, agave, and a tajin rim offered a great blend of heat and sweetness. The sprawling dining room and large bar made the place very comfortable. The second floor location offered a great view of the park across the street. The bar staff was also excellent. Front Desk: The check-in/out services were easy, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We were greeted every time we returned to the hotel. Convenience Store: The lobby offered a small convenience store with snacks, beverages (including alcohol), Boston merchandise, wellness items, and more. Social Hour: I am not sure if it happens daily, but there were a few evenings during our stay where they were offering complimentary spring rolls and High Noon/hard lemonade in the lobby from 4-5 pm. Fitness Center: The 24-hour gym was huge! It offered a variety of cardio machines (3 Pelotons, tons of treadmills, 1 recumbent bike, 2 ellipticals, and 1 rowing machine), medicine balls, kettlebells, 1 set of weights (could have used more of these), 2 benches, yoga mats, and a strength station. They also had cups and a water cooler, as well as a lot of space to work out. Location: The location was spectacular if you wanted to see some of the touristy sites. Within close walking distance were some key attractions like the North End, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, Boston Public Market, and the Seaport area. Parking: They offered valet parking for around $55-$65 overnight, but we self-parked in a lot a block away for $40 a night. There were no in/out privileges, however. Aside from the bed, I thought Canopy was amazing and definitely one of the best hotels I had stayed at in the city.

While we were checking in, we overheard the front desk changing a room rate down to $600 per night because, as the employee put it, "our prices were insane." Let that sink in**. $600 was the discounted price.** They had been charging over $1,000 per night simply because there was a concert in town. That's absurd. The hotel itself is basically an old motel with a fresh coat of paint. It's clean enough, but the old, dingy carpet, outdated feel, and cheap finishes make it feel like a budget roadside motel trying to pass itself off as a boutique hotel. Their biggest "luxury" amenity is a record player in the room, which feels more like a gimmick than anything else. Parking was the biggest disaster. Before we arrived, we specifically called and asked if parking would be available because we knew there was limited capacity due to the concert. We were told yes. We arrived literally five minutes later and were told there were no spots left, forcing us to pay over $300 in parking during our two-night stay. To make matters worse, as we walked to our room, we watched them valet another guest's car right in front of us. Nobody had left. A spot didn't magically appear. They told us it was reserved for special guests. Sorry my assumption for paying your outrageous prices for this motel was that I would be included in this special guest category. (update special guests were for the trailers they keep in the back) What made everything even worse was the staff's attitude. Customer service was nonexistent. Yes, the location is convenient, but Boston has countless hotels in great locations. Do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else. During my stay, I was required to move rooms three times--once voluntarily after an upgrade, and twice due to serious maintenance issues, including a sprinkler-system flood. In subsequent rooms, I experienced repeated heating failures, inconsistent hot water, and even a shower head detaching during use. The heating issues were ongoing and never fully resolved. On multiple occasions, my room dropped to 66-67 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 80. Even after maintenance visits, the room never consistently warmed beyond 75 degrees. On the morning before my departure, I woke to cold air blowing again, confirming the problem persisted through the end of my stay. Management follow-through was disappointing. Promises to check back or assist were not kept, and communication was inconsistent at best. While beverage credit was offered, it did not come close to addressing the cumulative disruption, lack of rest, and stress caused by ongoing room issues over nearly seven weeks. The saving grace of this hotel was the weekday bartender, Rebecca. Monday through Friday, she greeted my colleagues and me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and grace after very long workdays. She was consistently excellent. Unfortunately, that level of service was not present on weekends, and our group ultimately chose to avoid the hotel bar until Rebecca returned. That said, I do want to acknowledge Shirley, Wendy, James, and Nate, who were consistently kind, professional, and helpful, as well as the valet staff, who were always efficient and courteous. This hotel may work for a very short stay if expectations are modest. For long-term or extended stays, however, the operational issues, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent hospitality do not align with the image or price point the property presents.

Can not think of any complaints for our stay and would stay here again. They offer valet parking and anytime we needed the car it was quick to get it back. Inside the lobby/first floor they have plenty of seating and what they dub "The Bistro" that offers breakfast, dinner, and full bar and I believe Starbucks drinks too. Location wise it is quite ideal, obviously if your activities/work is in this area of Boston. Besides TD Garden it is also close to North station along with plenty of food and drink options. Personally for a morning coffee or matcha I say check out Blank Street Coffee, then food wise I would say take a quick walk to the North End or closer try Tavern In The Square. Definitely a hotel worth looking into while visiting Boston!

We were on our way out to Fenway, so the friendly gentleman at the front desk was kind enough to give us walking directions after he showed us around the guest spaces and our room. Location: 5 : an easy 10 minute walk to Fenway, a 12 minute walk to the Commons. A wealth of eating options, safe secure and walkable in every direction. Room: 5 Our room was impeccable with impressive personal touches and attention to detail. Little things like Fiji water, fresh soft towels (and a black towel for makeup), full array of toiletries, and a welcoming comfortable firm bed. Despite having alllll the things to do in Boston, I was excited to get back to that room and that bed, and I slept like a log. I like a good bed when I'm traveling and I would never stay at another place if I had the option. My favorite aspect was having a separate bedroom and living area (with pull out couch). All things comparable, I've stayed in a thousand hotels, I've traveled Boston thoroughly. This will be my go-to forever. Whether traveling single, as a couple, or with my kids, I will look at 284 first and foremost. Kid-friendly: yes! I would definitely stay here with my kids (ages 9, 11, 13). Safe, fun, welcoming, and wallet-friendly. Special bonus and wow impression: each room is themed after a different artist. I love love love this concept and intrigued me a thousand times over. I ave a personal goal to stay in every room now.

It is close to Fenway Park and we were able to walk there and back. This would be a good location if that was your destination. Parking is $70 extra per night which I find excessive but maybe that's the going rate in Boston. We had a king room on the 7th floor. There's a kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, cooktop and a nice area to eat. It had a sofa and a small flat screen tv that you can adjust on a mount. The layout was good for our needs. The issue was housekeeping. At first glance there were some crumbs in the kitchen and a few hairs in the tub , and dirty kitchen items. Later we discovered dirty sheets. We requested our entire bedding be changed the next morning and the rest of the room be serviced as well. We came back to the room and the bed was changed but none of the room was cleaned so we headed back down again to request cleaning. We were told it would be cleaned the next day. The staff were apologetic and we didn't have any issues with them. Breakfast is served downstairs and the gentleman was overseeing the area for cleanliness and refills. He did a great job. Breakfast was basic but good. We are quite disappointed with the lack of cleanliness so for that reason we won't stay here again.

The environment was beautifully decorated for Christmas, like last year, and I had to take some pictures to have as desktop wallpaper on my computer. We had a very nice time and the selections on the menu were impressive. I went with the carrot cake chai black tea, mainly because it had pumpkin pie kinds of spices and vanilla rooibos. It tasted wonderful, like an autumnal tea, and all our teas came in beautifully decorated tea pots, apparently from Australia. The Four Seasons also does this interesting thing where they give you a liquor that fits with your tea order, to be added if you wish or drank by itself. I had a sip of mine and from someone else's, a bit strong for me but a bailey's one was alright. I'm fine with just tea myself! As for the food, this year's high tea was one of the best I've had. The menu was different from last year's, which was great too but in my opinion this seemed like an upgrade. Some of the food items included pieces of salmon in a little pastry, mini lobster roll, peking duck crepe, curried chicken croissant, a beautiful deviled egg, vanilla bean and brown butter scones, an eggnog tart, and a Santa hat shaped raspberry pastry. We even got some alternate options for a lactose sensitive person, so that's a great plus as well. The atmosphere was elegant and calming, and the service was great. The Four Seasons high tea was a very special holiday event, and comes highly recommended!
