If you're even remotely interested in true crime or history, the Lizzie Borden House is an absolute must visit. It has officially earned a spot as one of my all time favorite experiences. Our tour guide, Larry, was phenomenal. He's animated, engaging, and has a way of making you feel like you're living the story rather than just hearing it. He made great eye contact with everyone, pulled the audience into every moment, and had us hanging on his every word. I was a little worried my daughter might lose interest, but she was completely immersed from beginning to end. The tour itself is incredibly informative, and you leave with so much more knowledge than you came in with. If you have the option, request Larry! you won't regret it! The only downside was that the tours are packed. At times people were left standing in the hallway trying to hear, and during the basement portion (which we paid extra for), the line stretched out the door and many of us couldn't hear what Larry was saying during the final stop. It's a small disappointment for an otherwise exceptional experience, and I hope they consider limiting group sizes so everyone can fully enjoy the tour. Even with that, this is a place I would recommend to anyone visiting the area. It was unforgettable, and I'd go back again in a heartbeat. We paid the same price as other guests but we were placed in what felt like the cheap seats or an afterthought in a separate room from the dining room. Our view of the actresses was fair to poor. About 90% of their time was spent in the main dining room, we got a semi side view of them. Two of the four of us that were placed in the side room (sitting room) for dinner got put into a truly cheap seats (uncomfortable plastic folding chairs) it was unpleasant....due to the humidity my legs kept sticking to the hard plastic chair. It would have been nice to have interacted with the other guests, to have had a better view, and to have heard the actresses more clearly. Our quasi side view of the actresses and fair to poor acoustics in the side room an unpleasant experience that spoiled what could have really been a great experience. However, I am pleased that the food was good. Red pepper soup, salad, chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables and a delicious mixed berry shortcake. Service was also very good. Megan, who portrayed Lizzie's sister was a very entertaining performer/actress. You can tell she truly is a Borden family fan and a history enthusiast. Elaina (who portrayed Lizzie) was more lackluster and disengaged....maybe this was intentional to highlight Lizzie's unemotional responses after the murders? I'd recommend to add in a tour of the Borden house before or after the dinner, just being inside and seeing the 3 rooms was interesting. I'd be interested in returning for the tour or an overnight stay in the future. Taking guests on a tour would be a great marketing tactic (increase overnight stays/returns for tours, interest in future events, and/or product sales). Terrible experience. The Abby and Andrew suite was fine...until 9:30 pm when another guest (?) attempted to enter our room by yanking so vigorously on the door that the deadbolt lock disengaged - the door was hanging by the chain lock and would not close properly. When the building manager came with the handyman (after 3 phone calls), she did not provide her name or id and was very unsympathetic and unapologetic. The handyman said, "This lock is broken and needs to be replaced." She instructed him to screw it back into the door. We were left with a broken deadbolt and a skimpy chain lock. We left super early the next morning. U. S. Ghost Adventures responded to my review with instructions to email their guest relations, and I have done so twice. I have received no response. Sketchy part of town - dangerous room - ineffective management. Save your money. read more

Went a while ago for a house tour and the story telling was good. I definitely felt spirits in the house but I did feel a little disrespectful in that house and the gift shop. I am not a psychic but I am a sensitive. The entire tour, it was almost as if a voice was telling me "I didn't do it." Kinda crazy!! I will consider an overnight. I'd like to get more into doing paranormal investigations and exploring new places. read more

For our 2000 mile drive, Mrs. K. only added one item to the itinerary - she wanted to see the house. I asked, but she was not interested in spending the night. But that is an option for you if you'd like to stay in a haunted house. Our tour was fabulous. Larry spent over an hour walking us through the various rooms of the property, explaining the events leading up to and after the murders, explaining the family dynamic, the comings and goings of neighbors and then the trial itself. Beyond that, the life she lived after her acquittal. Details and side stories and lots of drama. Just a tremendous time and I can't recommend it highly enough. This is a fabulous time in American history. And yes, they have a complete gift shop in the back. Book ahead for the tour, or you can just show up at the gift shop any time. As to "Is it haunted?" I will say that we did not see or encounter anything on the tour but it does seem strange that every cup of coffee we had since then has been flavorless. No correlation but... strange. A group of friends and I rented the whole bed-and-breakfast for an overnight paranormal ghost hunt. We had accessibility to all four floors which included the basement, the kitchen and dining area where Mr. Borden was murdered, the upstairs bedroom areas where Mrs. Borden was murdered and the attic where Bridget, the maid resided. We did have our own equipment, but the bed-and-breakfast does offer kits with various tools to utilize through the night. In the morning, the staff cooked us the meal of the Borden's last morning, which included pancakes with confectioners sugar, eggs, sausages, home fries and orange juice. The barn is turned into a gift shop where there's a bunch of collectibles to choose from. With our package stay, we were able to get an ax and a Lizzie doll. I also got Max the cat plush doll, a T-shirt and a shot glass. The prices are reasonable for a gift shop. read more

We just finished up our tour at the Historic Lizzie Borden House in Falls River, and what a fabulous experience was had by everyone in my group (6 people ages 12-84)! My husband and sons are fans of the horror genre, so they were convinced as soon as "murder by hatchet" was mentioned. My friend and mother in law were more interested in the historical aspects of the building/costumes/etc and the efforts to reconstruct the story. Our remarkably knowledgeable tour guide, Megan Alves, could speak to all these matters and so much more. As my 12 year old son summarized it at the end, she had the encyclopedic knowledge of a historian and the humor and cheek of an entertainer. We highly recommend this tour. read more

We experienced the Lizzie Borden House Tour on Friday, January 16, 2026 and it was FABULOUS! I have been on many haunted tours and our tour guide, Dave Allen, was truly wonderful. We learned the true story and history of Lizzie Borden for 90 minutes. He did not rush our group, he answered questions, and added some extra fun into the experience. The Lizzie Borden House is extremely well maintained. We did not stay overnight but still had a great time. The gift shop is truly unique and everyone we encountered there was welcoming and interesting. If you are in New England and looking for something to do, this should go to the top of your list! 10/10!! read more

The Lizzie Borden B&B was an AMAZING experience! We stayed on a Friday night in the Bridget Sullivan room & included a ghost hunt and breakfast in the morning. We arrived a tad earlier than check in and were able to store our bags - note to other Fall River guests, there is very little to do in the town. We wrongly assumed there would be a quaint downtown with little stores or restaurants...be warned that Fall River itself is pretty desolate. We were able to find a cute on-dock bar/restaurant by the waterfront (s/o to The Tipsy Seagull) but I would personally advise not planning to spend too much extra time exploring the neighborhood. Anyway, the Borden BnB ghost hunt was excellent. They provide you with equipment and allow you to wander the first floor and basement of the house. I've never been on a ghost hunt before, so I do not have much to compare it to but, if there are spirits, they were very active! We got a lot of hits on the equipment and there seemingly was intelligent communication (we asked questions and got definite responses). Everyone on the hunt took it seriously (no goof offs or silly questions) and it was a fun time. The accommodations themselves were comfortable enough for a 100+ year old home. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable (and I'm usually one to bring my own sheets and pillows so I'm on the picky side). No haunts or bumps in the night although the toilet on our floor kept running so we had to go down to the 1st floor bathroom which...was pretty spooky alone in the middle of the night. Note that you bathrooms are shared with other guests but we barely ran into anyone our whole time there so it wasn't a problem. Breakfast in the morning was fine (scrambled eggs, sausage, sliced fruit) but the best part was the girls who prepared it. They  were very sweet and told me some of their own personal ghost stories when I went down in the morning to use the bathroom. That being said, everyone who worked at the Borden home was so kind and you can really tell they love being there and being a part of the story. All in all it was a fabulous time and I definitely recommend it read more

First time visiting Boston and of course we had to make the drive down to Fall River to visit the Lizzie Borden House! I am easily distracted and was worried this would just be another one of those haunted house tours. But we had the absolute pleasure of having Megan Alves as our guide who did a remarkable job of walking us through the house. Megan made this one of the most fascinating haunted house tours we have ever went on. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the house keeping us on the edge of our seat as we walked through each room and as she described each family member. My family booked an 11:30 tour but got to the property at 10:15 (poor planning) and the employee behind the counter exchanged our tour to the 10:30 time slot. Elliot was our tour guide and they were a wealth of knowledge. They had some secret tips and sidebar bits of wisdom to share about Lizzie. The tour was great, we didn't feel rushed and Elliot was sure to answer all of our questions. Visiting the Lizzie Borden House was such an amazing experience! I was traveling with my best friend and our husbands.The staff was incredible friendly and knowledgeable about the property. The home felt welcoming and you felt like the other guests were your friends and family. Check in was simple. I got an email with the door code giving us access to the house and our personal rooms. We were allowed to wonder the common area but asked to please respect others personal space. Which of course we did. The kitchen was open 24 hours day and supplies endless cups of coffee. For our first part of the evening, we sat in the dining room with some other couples who were using their personal ghost hunting equipment and trying to contact the Borden Family. We had so much fun. For the second half of the night, we went on a ghost hunt inside the Lizzie Borden House. The hunt took place on the first floor and in the basement. Our tour guide was Adam. Adam taught us how to use the ghost hunting equipment, and we may have contacted someone from the other side. After the midnight ghost tour was over, we had a midnight snack in the sitting area on the 3rd floor of the house. While prepping the bed for the night my husband found a blood stained hatchet under his pillow. FYI....I paid extra for the spooky hatchet experience. I even got a "What the BLEEP!" out of him. In the morning we wondered into the kitchen to find the staff dressed in clothing the Borden family would have worn in their time. The staff made us delicious breakfast of eggs, sausages, pancakes, a variety of breads and muffins, juice and yes, you guessed it...an endless cup of coffee. They also took the time to make my husband a special gluten free breakfast. He gave his breakfast 2 thumbs up! We got to enjoy our breakfast with our next tour guide Ryk. After breakfast we went on a house tour with Ryk who fully explained the history of the house and the tragic demise of the Borden Parents. I also have to give a big shout out to Spencer who was working in the gift shop. His smile and laugh were incredible. He also knew a lot of information about the Borden's tragic story. Started our visit with a house tour lead by Jay. My husband and I have done a lot of traveling and a lot of tours, and Jay was one of our most favorite tour guides ever. Super informative AND had amazing comedic timing. Like- we love this man. Please give him a raise. Go book a tour with Jay right now. As guests of the house, we got to spend some solo time in the home which was amazing! We were able to get lots of great photos and even experienced some... strange activity. Later, we joined Spencer for a tour of Fall River and then a ghost hunt in the house. Spencer made the experience lots of fun and we really enjoyed our time with him! We will definitely return. (TOUR REVIEW ONLY!) Despite living and working just a few miles away from the Lizzie Borden house we finally made a pilgrimage to the house on Second Street in early October. We took a house tour and also added the basement tour on a beautiful fall day. I have recently finished a few books about the Borden murders, and considered myself a novice expert on the story, but the tour guide Megan was outstanding! A real historian of the story. She was very knowledgeable about the murders, the trial and the family, and she was very passionate and energetic during the entire tour. I came out of the tour and visit with a lot more information, and to be honest, I was completely bristling over the entire experience. If you are reading this review, considering making a stop at this house, I highly recommend that you just go and book it. Megan allowed us to ask questions of course, and there was nothing she couldn't answer! (Heads up! The parking was a little tight out back, but there's street parking everywhere around the city. I feel the tour size was way too big as we all wouldn't fit in the rooms and most often got left out of hearing the story. Had to wait until rooms were cleared before able to really take in the scene. By then, already missed out on the beginning take in the next room. I completely missed out on the story upstairs in the attic because there was no room for me to get up there. I might as well have been touring alone for part of the "tour." Couldn't hear any story in the basement and feel it was a real waste of the $7 to see it. I think I'd rather had put it towards a beanie in the gift shop. Our tour guide, Jack, gave a little too much personal information with his troubles, which threw off the pace. Thought tour was only 1-hr but ours started late and lasted almost 2-hrs. Even though this is a very busy time of year, I think a better experience would be smaller groups and shorter tours. read more

The gift shop is well stocked and not overpriced. I would definitely take the tour again, and want to visit the cemetery where the family is interred.
