Ordered through UberEats. Horcharta was overly sweet, imo. Rice was under seasoned and overcooked. Chile relleno was good but I thought the sauce was too thin and rather spicy. I prefer ranchero sauce. Guacamole had a nice color but was overly salty. Oaxaca tamale was not to my taste but that might be a personal preference. The masa tasted under seasoned. Black mole was good. Beans were the best I've ever had. The homemade tortillas were nice. I would have given 3.5 stars if that had been an option. I'd definitely try them again. Stopped here on our way back from Sequoia National Park and had a great experience. The food was excellent - we got a molcajete oaxaqueño, which was a molcajete with 4 types of meat, salsa, onions, avocado, cheese, beans + tortillas. The tortillas are home made and delicious. The portion was very big! It tasted very fresh. We also got the huarache, which was basically the same ingredients but on 4 tortillas, which was also very good. The service was also excellent, our waiter helped us pick our dishes and she was very sweet. The restaurant was full of families (it was a Sunday). Really good and fun vibes. This is for 5/11/25. Me and my family went to this restaurant in the evening.my sister ordered the taco plate when she went in to try the rice and found a hair in the rice. When we called the waitress over she said it wasn't a hair it was a fiber from a towel so my sister dug in and took out the hair and showed the waitress and then she was like ok it is a hair. We also noticed that none of cooks had any hair nets and the plates that they gave us were clean only from the top but the bottom of the plate there was dried food and cilantro so my guess is that they don't have a dishwasher. We wanted to talk to the manager but the waitress said the manager isn't even there there was no one in charge. This tells me this is a badly run restaurant that's going down hill. Once I gave my order I waited another 20 minutes for a plate of mole enchiladas. I asked when I would see my meal and the waitress (Sandy) had no answer. It was another 10 minutes before my meal came. $10 for a tiny margarita served in the smallest margarita glass you've ever seen. Rice and beans were room temperature. Mole sauce was oily and had a strange taste to it. I ended up opening the enchiladas and eating just the chicken inside. And to add insult to injury, I had to go to the counter and ask for a water refill while the waitress was just standing around behind the counter doing nothing. She never came over once to my table after delivering my meal. I wasn't even asked if I wanted another margarita. Overall, a very bad experience. read more

I had a huarache oaxaqueño and that was good, my husband ordered a chile relleno and he said it was fine (presentation wise could have been better). My daughter ordered a plain cheeseburger with fries and it was not good. As you can see by pictures it was burnt I didn't see the bottom until she flipped it and said this doesn't taste good. She had to pick off all the burnt section. Also what kind of fries are those they look so sad and didn't give her that many. Sad to say the quality has gone downhill...if you don't know how to make a basic cheeseburger and fries don't offer it on the menu stick to Mexican/oaxacan food. Also the waitress was not in a good mood I guess they only make red salsa because I asked for salsa on the side and she said "it doesn't come with any" then she points at the complimentary salsa they offer with chips (not really complimentary because their prices are not cheap) and says that's the salsa. I guess they only have red salsa and no other kind. So disappointed with quality of food but more with the customer service. They need to do a better job at hiring. read more

My wife and I just want to keep coming back. It's a quaint and homely restaurant with the personal touches that make you feel comfortable, like the space was made for you. The staff is all helpful and prompt. The food is beyond delicious. I couldn't believe how good the red mole was, and ugh I don't know why more places don't have Oaxacan chorizo because I swear it is the best. I only wish they had enfrijoladas... maybe I can talk them into making me some lol. Seriously though, just be careful with the salsa. After watching a special on Mexican culture and foods, we had a craving for Mole Negro. It is a special dish unique to Oaxaca Mexico. The origin of this Oaxaca style of Mexican foods is from the Meso American Pre-Colombian time period. The mole sauce is made from cacao. Chocolate comes from the cacao bean. It was a favorite of indigenous pre-Colombian rulers. Mole is still a favorite food in Mexican culture today. On one of our travels in Mexico, we toured many areas in the state of Oaxaca. There several types of mole. Our favorite was mole negro. There is a great Mexican restaurant here in Fresno that features mole. We have eaten at this restaurant several times over the years. It was called the Oaxaca Restaurant. It has a different name but the food so far is the same. We ordered the Mole Negro dish which includes chicken in the rich flavorful mole sauce, beans and rice. It also comes with homemade corn tortillas. The combination of these items makes the meal come alive! It is so delicious. They have an interesting menu. You can have breakfast, lunch or dinner. I hadn't been to Oaxaca Restaurant in quite a few years, and a friend suggested stopping by. What a great idea! What I liked most about this place was their moles, and I was really looking forward to some authentic Oaxacan mole. This place did not disappoint. I got their enchiladas topped with red mole, Enchiladas de Coloradito. Coloradito is a special mole of Oaxaca and is typically made from ingredients such as raisins, plantains, various peppers, and yes, chocolate. What a special treat! It has been so long since I last had coloradito (which was at this restaurant, no less)! Addressing some of the other recent comments: yes, they do take credit cards, in fact. (I had no problem paying with mine.) And, yes some of the wait staff only speaks Spanish. Big deal! It's Mexican food, from Oaxaca no less! Oaxaca has the tastiest and most authentic Mexican food I have ever eaten. I love Mexican food and frequently fix it myself. However, I've been disappointed in most Mexican restaurants because they are inauthentic in their ingredients and sauces run of the mill and they seem to dumb down what they are serving for the general population. Oaxaca restaurant is a charming exception to this. It's a bit nicer than just a hole in the wall, but it's still rather humble in its appearance. There is ample space for dining inside and out. They have a full service bar as well as live music. While those things are attractive, the real star here is the food. It is the stuff of dreams. We had black mole with pork, red mole with chicken, goat stew, a torta, and three Carne Asada tacos for the child. Everything was absolutely delicious. The layers of flavor that they had were exceptional. The Molé was astonishing. It was all I could do to not lick the plate. The pork was tender and flavorful. The chicken fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. And the goat was the best I have ever eaten. Additionally, we had their house margaritas which came rimmed in salt and pepper. They were just the right amount of acidity and sweetness and were not overwhelmed with tequila. I wish I had the capacity to drink more than one. Next time I come, I will be trying the cactus and the crickets as I know I will get an authentic experience with those. I wish I could give this 10 stars. read more

We were craving Mexican food on New Year's Day. After driving around trying to find a place that was actually open, I remembered this restaurant! I have bought Tortas from here a couple times and thought the meat was seasoned well and tasty. Being one of the few restaurants open that day, It was jam packed and I don't think this place was ready nor prepared for it. They were short staffed and I never got my tortillas. I cannot eat Mexican food with out tortillas! I finally had to go to the counter and tell them that I never got them. So at the end ,I did get some, which by the way are hand made and delicious. I received a discount for the mishap and I also got a free horchata with my yelp check in. I do appreciate that they acknowledged their mistake and tried to make it better. The menudo broth had good flavor but too much fat and gristle which was disappointing for my bf. I ordered Camerones al mojo de. Ajo.. it was good but I wish the garlic sauce was more prominent, it was just a little too dry for me. Overall, I would like to try out their Oaxacan specialty dishes and molcajetes. The Asada is good here too. So maybe I can bump this to a 4 Star next time ! read more

My first time eating Oaxacan food and it so disappointing. I ordered the chicken mole plate and the chicken was as dry as the waiters personality (he had none). I let him know the chicken was dry and all he said was 'would you like a box?'. He didn't attempt to ask if he could replace it and just said he couldn't do nothing because one of the pieces was eaten. Not to mention, the rice sucked as well. I went to have some sopes there, this was my second eating there. The first time I ate there I had mole negro and I remember it was good, that was the reason I went again. So when I got the serving of 4 sopes with different meat each one, the actual sope was soggy, usually the sopes get first deep in oil or put on a pan with oil to make them a little hard not too much but this way they don't get soggy with the stuff they put on top. Being 100 Mex, I remember the meet they put on top is shredded not big chucks of meat or chorizo, unless this is how they prepare them in Oaxaca. Also not all sopes are supposed to have beans. I was able to eat only two. I want to try another Oaxaca restaurant to know if this is normal but I doubt it. I'm from around Mexico City and definitely this is not how sopes are made there. Have we changed our recipes? Anyways maybe I will give them another chance and try something else there. But if this gets to the ears of Oaxaca restaurant, please rethink how you make your sopes. read more

The food was not as good as it used to be. The prices went up while the quality went down. The waitress never came back to check if the food was good or even to bring us water. We often had to call her to bring some of the most basic stuff like napkins or utensils. Always check your receipts because they try to over charge us for something we didn't order. So since we seen a youtube video of this place we knew we had to go and try this place out! So where do I start? Well to start off this place was really easy to find, upon arriving I noticed they have a good amount of parking--Thats always a plus, their building has a beautiful mural painting on the wall. Most of their tables and chairs were stacked to the side of the dining area due to the COVID pandemic theres a limited amount of customers to dine in. They also have a clear cover register to customer. The restaurant is painted and decorated with the Oaxacan culture. Their desert fridge was a little sad-sad in the way that there was little to offer but thats ok, with the whole pandemic its understandable. Cashier was Vero and was very welcoming and helpful and demonstrated good customer service! Thank You!! So I ordered a asada sope which was $4.00 and let me tell you it was HUUUUUUUGGGGE! And the flavors and textures of it was bomb! The sope itself was crunchy but still chewy and was delicious. The beans tasted homemade, and that asada meat oh.my.good.nessss! Idk about you and how you like ur meat but this meat was soo good it wasn't hard, it wasn't greasy, it wasn't salty nor flavorless, it was perfect for anyone! (Especially for picky little ones, my kids ate all of their meat) I ordered special #4 which came with 2 big burritos that are filled with just rice and beans and choice of meat and 6 tacos, I ordered them all with asada. Tacos were plain bc they were for the kids. But dude they were packed with meat and for only $30. I added 2 asada tacos with handmade tortillas @ 3.00 ea which seems like a lot but they were huge and delicious! Tacos there are a little over $1.00 but you must know that they are made with packaged tortillas like the ones u buy at the store.y I also ordered a Barbacoa Roja De Chivo... A goat with its juice and a red sauce and may I say its finger liking and mouth drooling good the smell of it is exquisite! The meat is so tender and the flavors is just perfect not too spicy but enough spice to enjoy it! You wouldn't even know it was goat meat if you weren't told. It comes with 3 homemade tortillas, cilantro, onion and sliced jalapeños to throw in your barbacoa. You can drink the juice and be satisfied haha They have a variety of Mexican drinks like coke in bottle and jarritos n all. I saw a sign that they had micheladas for to go orders too--next time hehe Over all our meal was pricey... Came out to 81.10 but it all was amazing! We will be visiting again!
