A very nice restaurant. For my birthday we came to Lexington to start a bunch of bourbon tours. After a long day of driving, buying bourbon, and one tour (Woodford Reserve) we came to OBC. Our waiter, Elijah, was fantastic and helped us with the whole process. My wife and I started with a neat pour: she had Knob Creek Barrel Rested Rye and I had Michter's Small Batch. Both were excellent and a full 2 oz pour. For food we split an order of the Cola Braised Beef Ribs (think fantastic pot roast) and the Shrimp & Gnocchi plate. Nothing against the Shrimp & Gnocchi but the Braised Beef Ribs are amazing. In all honesty, the Cola Braised Beef ribs are the best thing we had on our trip. We popped in for brunch on a Sunday at 11:00. We were seated promptly but unfortunately had no silverware so when our biscuits arrived and couldn't enjoy them warm. Our server was great but bar service was super slow. We waited 10+ minutes for a can of beer and a mimosa. He ended up going to get the beer himself. They could definitely improve there. Fantastic restaurant/bourbon bar in south Lexington. Food was very good (had a delicious steak) and the bourbon selection was far better. Prices were a bit varied but the options made finding something quite easy, with some of their barrel picks being great bang for the buck choices. Appreciated the tablet menu which appeared to be 90%+ accurate in terms of what was available. Service was very friendly and prompt. Kicker was probably the fact that they sold their barrel picks to go at reasonable retail prices. Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a bourbon bar with great food. Our server, Nick, was very welcoming and funny - he gave really great recommendations as well like the super smash bros cocktail and the fried green tomatoes appetizer! We had Friday dinner reservations, loved it so much, booked reservations for Sunday brunch! Service was incredible- shout out to Chris & Martha, made the experience even better. Food: they bring ya fresh bread & butter at dinner, biscuits butter & jam at brunch! We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer both visits, it sings flavors in your mouth (cheese, bacon jam, so freakin good). You have to get the fried green tomatoes if you come!!! I was able to get a same day reservation for 5 people. Don't pass this place up! Go now! The service was great for a busy night with several large parties. Our waiter even had two different people come to our table to talk about the bourbon options and help create different flights for those in my group. I got the whiskey sour and it was easily the best whiskey sour I've ever had. The star of the show to me was the fried green tomatoes though. Best advice: Make an Open Table reservation well in advance for the time you wish to dine, as time slots fill up fast! Bread & butter come to your table for free. Bacon in a glass with peanut butter dipping sauce was worth every calorie & fat gram. Enjoyed the Autumn salad and didn't even need to add a protein. Daughter got the Short ribs, which was enough for two. The ladies restroom was on pointe, as was the table service and ambiance. My husband has eaten here a couple of times on his way to/from visiting family. Located in Lexington,Kentucky. Bourbon and food is the focus here. We had a reservation for 7:30. We were greeted by Connor and water was poured. He explained the tablet menu situation. We then waited and finally flagged another waiter to place drinks and appetizer. To this server's credit he did not reply, "this is not my table or let me get your server." Appetizer of pimento cheese and bacon with crostinis arrived well in advance of our drinks. This was delicious. When the appetizer was brought to the table, no plates were offered. We had to stop another person to get those. Our drinks showed up after a few more minutes. They were good but the garnish in the small glass was clunky. Way too big. Our used dishes from the first course sat even after a runner set the table near us and our server walked by. We placed our entrees of fried chicken( they ran out of mashed potatoes so Brussel sprouts were offered) and beef short ribs with cheesy grits. We both enjoyed our entrees. Loved the iPads at the bar to help with scouring the menu and seeing all that is in each crafted cocktail. Soooo many wonderful choices! A few that we settled on were The Suite Life, Dragon Not Lizard, and the Milk & Sugar. These were great but I especially loved the Milk & Sugar, being that I'm an espresso martini and White Russian fan... since it was basically a mix of the two. Having never been to Lexington before we Googled a spot for dinner. This restaurant was checking all of the boxes, great food, nice atmosphere and phenomenal service. I decided to make a reservation for this restaurant to be the first place we would eat in Kentucky. It sure set the bar high! As soon as we were out of the airport, we headed straight to OBC. The bourbon flight is a MUST here. One of the servers we had was so knowledgeable and so amazingly welcoming. He told us a lot about different bourbons and even where to buy it. We ended up buying a bottle from the restaurant before we left. Most of the cocktails in the menu weren't available but I was able to get the lemon boba cocktail that was super good and interesting. For dinner we ordered the chicken in a biscuit, the salmon and a kids burger and fries. Be warned, the food is massive. I could only eat one chicken sandwich but it was probably the best fried chicken I've ever had. The salmon salad was a hit as well. I originally wanted to get dessert but dinner was quite filling. This was a takeout delivery during COVID 19. I ordered smoked salmon potato skins as an appetizer and the Chicken in Country Biscuits. The dishes, which are probably best classified as elevated southern comfort food, are a bit heavy, and come in large portions. The salmon served with the salmon potato skins was cold smoked salmon. I do wish the potato skins were a little crispy. The flavors were still good, but not great. There is a Tabasco aioli topping, as well as cream cheese, but I didn't taste any type of spice. Glad I tried them, but wouldn't ask for a repeat performance. The Chicken in Country Biscuits is chicken cutlets served on biscuits with various accompaniments. The accompaniments are Tasso cream, crispy leaks (which don't add much), roasted corn salsa, and hot pepper honey. All of the flavors melded well, and the biscuits were flaky. Chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Large portions. I only ate half of my order and the rest has been put away for leftovers. Other dishes: baked crab dip, turf n surf, bacon in a glass (with peanut butter--I read it's all the rage). Also, salads, cola-braised short ribs, pork tenderloin, steak dishes, fish dishes.
