My son and I needed to arrive at Oberlin College by 11:00 Monday, so staying overnight in nearby Lorain, OH at this beautiful hotel was the perfect solution. The hotel's restaurant is always closed Sunday-Monday, so we didn't get to try that, but we were able to find take-out from a restaurant in Amherst, and eat in our room. We were really surprised to learn that only two families were staying at the hotel the night we stayed! We got a great deal on Expedia for a queen double room. About $112 in total, and parking was free. Free Wifi. Super clean facility. Beds were so comfortable and the shower was awesome. I loved all the cute vintage features, like the mail shoot by the elevator. No swimming inpool yet, due to COVID of course, but perhaps we will enjoy a swim on our next visit. We will definitely stay here next time we are visiting Oberlin, which is about a 25 minute drive from Lorain. Thank you to Sabrina and the other hotel staff for being so welcoming and for providing my son and I with such a wonderful and relaxing stay! Updated: we stayed here for Oberlin College graduation weekend and had a solid stay although it was rowdier at night during the weekend when a wedding was happening. Room was clean, beds were ok. Free parking. Limited staff around, and no room cleaning during our stay, but when we called for room towels we received them. Pool was nice but the area around the pool, bathroom, sauna (closed) and exercise room could use some attention and updating.

The home was built for the Gillis, well-known and wealthy Cleveland family, in 1863. Then, 25 years ago, the home was converted into a bed and breakfast, and 5 years after that, the first floor was converted into a tea room. Every inch is covered in sweet, kitch decor, and tea is for sale at reasonable prices. I can't say enough good things about this tea room. They were so accommodating for our large group and Katie, one of our servers, provided us a run down of the history of the building and business as well as everything that was included in our $25 High Tea experience. Two different types of tea were offered and the meal consisted of a soup or salad, a slice of quiche and fruit, a selection of three tea sandwiches, a scone, banana bread, and an assortment of desserts to finish it all off. It was a lot of food, all delicious and homemade, that was spread out over 2 hours of fun conversation. My favorites of all the food were the scones and Panna cotta. If you don't live in the area, try the bed and breakfast instead of your typical hotel for your next stay in cleveland! We didn't get to the B&B until close to 9:00 pm but the owner, Alice welcomed us in like we were family. The accommodations were great. The suite was very clean , the bed was really comfortable. The next morning Alice prepared breakfast of blueberry pancakes, bacon, sausage, a delicious platter of fruit and a scrumptious almond skillet cake!! So good I asked her for the recipe and she was kind enough to oblige. A couple weeks later my step mom passed away and so I immediately called Alice and made reservations to return for the funeral .Once again, Alice's hospitality was wonderful. After a long day of travel, she welcomed us in. The following morning she prepared another delicious breakfast. When we return to this area of Ohio we would definitely return to Reutters Roost! Nice pads and tables at the campsites. TONS of activities for the kids (ages 5 and 4). Great camp store. Literally no need to leave for anything! Lastly, the people who run it are incredibly involved and wonderful people. Note: I do not know this family and am not being compensated for this review, nor was I asked to provide it. Not the same campground…read more I have stayed at this campground several times. My kids love all the activities so we try to make it a yearly stop. They have wibits, outdoor pool, jump pad and other scheduled activities. This time around we were somewhat disappointed with our stay. They campground has been going through a management change. They expressed multiple times they have a 5 year plan. Although I think they are over a year into the plan we had booked months in advance bc the campground used to be hard to get a spot. Although it was only about half full on a holiday weekend when we stayed. They also told us they would have a new resort style pool open by then. Although the pool wasn't even close to being finished. They have emptied out most of the camping spots and have cabins all over the park that have not been hooked up. The grass was really long and someone said the mower had broke. The pool was dirty and we saw broken glass around the edge. Lots of barking dogs, especially across from the playground. During our stay the activities were not at the same caliber as they used to be and many of them you had to pay to participate in. Like bingo you have to bring your own candy bar. And every interaction with one of the bears seemed to have something for sale. The times of events were usually delayed. One time because the shower house needed to be pumped out. I think the dynamic of the type of camper they are trying to reach is different than what I have seen here in the past. Kids still had a great time but just want others to beware if they haven't stayed here in a couple years.
