I'm usually blown away by my trips to oberweis, and look forward to stopping in if I'm near one, but was disappointed this trip. Complications with the ordering of a "customized" banana royale, which I've been ordering for over 20 years... the new system wanted to charge me for substituting ice creams and toppings, but the manager stepped in when I questioned. While the right flavors made it into my dish, the whipped cream was flat, and peanuts were incorrectly substituted for pecans...both undesirable. The ice cream was also very soft, and you can see from the picture was a mess that never should have made it to my table. Once I got into it I discovered the banana was severely over ripe and mushy. Hopefully this is a one off issue with staff needing training, but concerning as I've been so impressed previously with any location. read more

Every time we visit this place there are very upsetting circumstances.. Last time they said their ice cream was " too soft to serve" On a cone !! Last night Saturday night after my wife made a delicious pasta dinner we decided to go out for a kid scoop of ice cream over rice has some wonderful flavors so we decided to go over there. They make this mocha chocolate caramel crunch, ice cream, and I had a kid scoop and a glass dish with a little hot fudge on it and my wife just had a kid scoop plane Ice cream was wonderful tasting, but it was very very multi. Otherwise I would've given it five stars they obviously don't have their freezers turned down enough or something because the ice cream run it over in both of our dishes. The people were very nice. I've been to this location before and it's been pleasant. Today I ordered a hot fudge brownie sundae and when I got home, there was no brownie included. This was quite disappointing. I did not feel like driving back. I shouldn't have to check my order before leaving to make sure a brownie sundae includes the brownie. read more

This is such a cute, little creamery! When I walked inside, I noticed that some of their tables have checkerboards on them. You can play chess or checkers while you are eating your ice cream. They also have other board games behind the counter for you to use. Just have to ask. This is the first time I've seen a creamery sell fresh milk. They come in glass bottles because that is supposedly better for the milk and it comes from local farms. Way to help out the community! The ice cream to me was very creamy, but the flavor wasn't as rich. I would say it is better than Baskin Robbins, but not by much. They have both ice cream and frozen yogurt if that is your thing. It's a little more expensive than other ice cream parlors, but you are paying for quality ingredients. read more

As a business owner myself in Frankfort, it blows my mind how this place has changed. We go out a bit later 9:00 pm tonight. And for some reason over the last year the staff is absolutely rude and it more of a hang out for staffs friends on a Saturday night. Here's an example, we came to order 4 shakes we ordered one and the employee was a snot talking over us and acting like are u done ordering yet... then we asked for a black Cherry and she shot back "we're all out" my wife and I looked at each other like here we go again. Then we asked for blueberry "we don't have that" I mean like a snot. Like we should be thanking them for the 8 dollar shake. Then we asked what do you have.... Crickets. Look I'm not one to leave a bad review only when I feel absolutely treated like crap. And This isn't the first time. I get it maybe it's hard to find good help... but maybe just maybe find someone who can be a little nicer to Your customers. Or how about polite just a little bit more polite. I came back tonight hoping things would be better. But quite frankly your customer service is god awful. Absolutely awful. I'm just wondering if you respond to this... do You have any idea? How rude your staff is !! At least the ones at the drive up window. Sad very sad ....... So I've always loved the ice cream, but sometimes it has ice crystals in it that suggest it's not kept correctly. The service is SLOW. The drive through intercom was broken (and has been broken for a while). The staff ignores mask mandates, which combined with the ice-crystals makes me think that they likely ignore public health and cleanliness rules. Two stars read more

Moooooo! For some reason I always think this when I come here. You know that this stuff is made from the real deal. It's creamy and delicious and probably unbelievably fattening but hey, it's a treat, right? It's a tad expensive but made with quality ingredients. I wish they had a slightly better system here - the order, fill, pay and clean up process is a bit fuzzy. I think they just need to tweak it a bit, do it a bit more efficiently especially where there is a line in drive through. If Oberweis had a root beer freeze instead of just a root beer float, they would be my five star ice cream place. When I go for ice cream, it is what I seek. Everywhere. I find it every once in a while and reserve five stars for those locations. A big plus to this location is the drive through. Sometimes you, or your wife, just need an ice cream fix and you need it now. The drive through allows you to do that. Meanwhile, I am off in pursuit of a Rootbeer Freeze. read more

My fiance and I came BACK to this Oberweis after an AMAZING Italian dinner with the parents and before the Notre Dame game....where they clinched a spot to play for the National Championship for the first time since the BCS was started (GO IRISH!!!) VERY disappointed to see HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP in a lot of the ice cream. The Vanilla doesn't have it but about 15 of the flavors do (according to their nutrition facts). Super Premium Ice Cream? Maybe the price. It was about $6.75 for a brownie sundae (the regular size). The reason for 3 stars is because they do have good ice cream and the place is set up pretty nice. I'm not sure who is in charge of staffing this store, but the woman I dealt with today has absolutely no business working in customer service. Her attitude was colder than the ice cream. I went through the drive thru at about 2:45 pm on 4/22/2020 and the woman taking my order was very rude. I asked if it was possible to make a shake with any of their ice cream flavors or if it had to be one of the ones on their shake menu. She replies, in a very harsh tone of voice "we don't do that". Okay, fair enough. My colleague wanted a cookies and cream / chocolate shake, but said he would settle for chocolate. So I ordered him a chocolate shake and requested that they put a little extra chocolate syrup in the shake and she says "that's how we already do it!". When I finally get to the window, the woman says nothing at all to me. When she hands me the 3 shakes I ordered, I said "thank you very much" and without saying a word, she shuts the drive thru window. I work in customer service and the food service industry as a restaurant manager. If I treated my guests the way she treated me, I know I could expect negative feedback as well. I have been going here for years and have never had a bad experience. Recently, their customer service skills have taken a turn for the worst. There has been a select few people who work the drive through who are very obviously not happy with their job. I am not usually the one to complain about an upset server because you never know what kind of day they are having, but the nasty tones I hear when I go there is upsetting. I always go to the Orland location and it has always been excellent. However we tried the Mokena location tonight. Clearly there were no adults working, only teens. While they were very nice of you mess up an order, don't just scrape off the mistake and hand it back to me. This is what they did, did not offer to remake or ask if they could just scrape off the whipped cream. When you're paying that much this not what's expected. Stopped here for dessert after dinner on a Saturday night. I hadn't been to Oberweis in quite a while, but enjoyed it. The ice cream is creamy and tasty. It's a bit expensive but I figured as much. I would like to actually see the ice cream before I purchase it, but they give out samples so that helped. I definitely think there's better ice cream to be had around here, but if I'm not willing to drive, Oberweis is a great spot for a sweet treat. read more

The ice cream from this place is freaking dynamite! I've never had a bad thing when I've gone, but I'm pretty partial to the chocolate shakes. Those bad boys sure bring this boy to the yard! The thing that really stands out at Oberweis is the quality. You can go to a lot of ice cream joints and not really be a able to tell the difference if you were blindfolded, but I could ID Oberweis with only half of my taste buds functioning! I also have to give crazy props to the cookies they put in their shakes/malts. They are nothing short of amazing, but when you dip them in a shake, they are then promoted to life changing! Unfortunately, we don't live in the northern Illinois/Chicagoland area, so we have to soak up the deliciousness every time we come to the area to visit my in-laws. I would give a 5 for the ice cream itself, and a 2 for how quick they are. If you're going through the drive thru expect to be there for about 20 minutes. They're all very nice but have very few people working. It's pretty expensive but delicious ice cream! We come here like once a week. read more

Our family stops here when we are out for a progressive family dinner. We have been to both locations. This is truly a very nice addition to the area. As for the ice cream, yes, it is creamy. I like the shakes but always ask for more flavoring (chocolate syrup) in my shakes. The store itself is clean and yes, it has a lovely smell when you walk in.
