I've been coming here since the week they opened, which was 18 months ago. At first, I was a little leery because they initially had some service issues when they first opened. After eating here 7 times now, I can say this place is pretty amazing. It gets better every time we come in. Opening weeks here were pretty rough- huge crowds, service was slow, etc, everything you'd expect from a popular new joint in a town that has needed a sushi restaurant. Every time I have been in since, though, it gets better and better. The waitstaff are now seasoned and can handle busy nights with ease. Bartenders make awesome and unique cocktails. The main draw is the cuisine, though. It's Korean/Japanese fusion. Beyond sushi, they have some exceptional Korean-inspired dishes. Even my super finicky daughters find stuff on the menu they love. My wife and sons love all the sushi, while I like to bounce around and try anything interesting and new. The ambience is super cool, and the servers know their stuff. It's so fantastic to have a place like this in downtown Frankfort. While we love our longtime restaurants, it's great having new stuff to enjoy- especially food as unique and creative as this. 5 well-deserved stars. read more

This sushi restaurant was very elegant and upscale. We actually felt a little underdressed compared to the atmosphere and clientele. The restaurant is located in what appeared to be a very safe and affluent area, with plenty of parking available and a nice park nearby that's perfect for a walk after dinner. The prices are definitely on the higher end, but the food was excellent. We especially loved the tuna roll and eel roll. Both tasted incredibly fresh; honestly, it felt like the chef had just caught the fish moments before preparing it. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. One minor complaint was the water. It was served without ice and tasted somewhat bland. I'm not sure if it was heavily filtered or just sitting at room temperature, but it was lukewarm and not particularly refreshing. Our waitress was fantastic: very attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the meal. The only service issue we encountered was that the busser cleared one of our plates before we had completely finished eating, which made us feel a little rushed. Overall, it was a great dining experience with outstanding food, excellent service, and a sophisticated atmosphere. While the prices are high, the quality of the sushi makes it well worth considering for a special occasion. read more

Excellent food, drinks & especially Sakura trees the perfect place for a girls' night, which we saw happening in many places around the room. This is not hibachi but does have hibachi style vegetables--not a featured item by any means but was a highlight for me. Good, attentive service. Popped in last weekend for a celebration night, and everything was so delicious! I ordered the lychee martini, yellowtail nigiri, and salmon nigiri, all incredibly fresh and flavorful. We also shared the bulgogi lettuce wraps and the Orange County roll, which were both amazing. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we were surprised with complimentary donuts and a sparkler, such a fun touch that made the night extra special! Our waitress even offered to take photos of us and she did a wonderful job. The atmosphere was beautiful and lively. We sat inside since the patio was full, and while it was a bit chilly indoors, it wasn't too bad. My only small wish was for a dipping sauce to go with the lettuce wraps, that would've made them perfect. Terrible customer service They will not take your order over the phone, they tell you to go online, but they don't tell you that online orders are turned off 1/2 hour before they close!! When I called back they still refused to take my order! That's ok, much better sushi at every other sushi restaurant in Frankfort, and better prices !! read more

Upscale decor and beautiful interior ambiance (the cherry blossom trees look great with evening under lights). Senso feels like a Chicago sushi spot instead of a suburban one. Wonderful drink options and a fairly diverse menu if you have a party who is looking for non-sushi options. Step inside you will find Cherry Blossom trees vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams a lot of thought and detail went into the desgin. This restaurant is super cute and sheik. I also loved the roses in the women bathroom. It was so different but so cute and unique. The cherry blossom trees are super cute too with the dim lighting. Loved the vibe. Our waitress Isabel was AMAZING. She gave us recommendations that were on point. We had the garlic edamame, crab Rangoon, yellowtail Serrano (AMAZING), salmon carpaccio, Krop fries, spicy wifey and kimchi bacon fried rice. For drinks the Lychee martini was my favorite, the aroma of it and drinking it was lovely. We also had the spicy mango San, espresso martini and Senso in Paris. They were all delicious as well. The food was superb chefs kiss. My friends also mentioned it was my birthday through the reservations. Good: service! Our hostess, waitress, and busboy were so nice and very accommodating. Drinks were amazing. Mochi was soooo yummy. 12/10! Donuts were perfect!!! Meh: The interior is extremely lackluster. They couldn't even be bothered to stain the wood and the trim the same color on the benches. It's hard to tell where the entrance is on the outside. I would have loved to see more on the interior. The ceiling would be perfect with some gold, brassy toned wallpaper. Bar is really nice. Give the space some more oomph!!! A nice dinner spot near The Grainery. The lighting is dim, and the dining room is spacious, so it is good for a group outing or a date. We stuck to rolls and sampled the salmon avocado, hawaii, and rainbow roll. All three are solid choices, with fresh fish and well seasoned. The hawaii was the consensus fave, it tasted more fresh than the others and had a really nice aioli. Tasty. They have a big drink list, too, including some signature cocktails. The shibuya old fashioned is lightly sweetened with some plum wine to give it an interesting twitwist. The espresso martini has Mr. Blacks, which is always a treat. The drinks cost around $17-18 apiece, so it costs a premium, but worth trying. Dinner for 2 with one drink each, plus tax and tip, was about $100. read more

First time visiting for my husbands birthday made a reservation...when we walked in the door it wasn't a warm welcome, it was "can you be done by 7pm our system overbooked us" not even a proper hello, welcome or anything. The decor is pretty. Tables are close together. Our server spent time talking to the table next to us but didn't really pay attention to us. They also kept disappearing. We get our food. First few bites were delicious. I had the surf and turf roll. Until I had to keep spitting out the shrimp because there were large pieces of shell still attached. I let the server know the after that he was gone. About 10 minutes later a manager type did walk by doing table check ins. She was nice about the shrimp shell situation and did comp my roll. It really feels like they didn't want us there so we got no customer service. We ended up leaving by 7:04pm...so they got their wish for us to be done. After hearing of others having great service and the food being amazing, we both were greatly disappointed. read more

Loved the room but it was a tad loud. Server was energetic and friendly. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. That said, I thought the sushi was just ok. The taste of what we had was ok, but portion size for price was too small for too much. I know we are in a landlocked suburb of Chicago, so expect to pay a bit more than I do when in California, but for the price difference I would expect the sizes to be the same. It wasn't. I'd say the rolls are half the diameter of what I get in CA. I may try again, but would need to see more fish on my plate. read more

I recently dined in with a friend of mine and I myself got a drink along with two sushi rolls the Slammin Salmon and the Chicago Fire. The salmon roll was not necessarily to my liking however the Chicago Fire roll was very tasteful and physically appealing. I would definitely recommend this roll to others. My experience was tied in with a very pleasant server whose name was Weston I believe. He was very kind and helpful with different suggestions on what to get and try. Ok. Let me start with the positive. It looks nice when you walk in. The decor is nice. Ok. Sorry but that's it for me. The tables are really small so they can fit as many people in there as possible. Bench is uncomfortable. A table for 2 is tiny. I've given this place 3 tries now since I love sushi and I live close but I'm just not a fan. I feel fleeced every time I've been there. Waitress tries to upsell everything too and who wants that when you're out to eat? Edamame was way over steamed to where it was mush and hard to pick up. Sushi is fine but pieces of fish in their standard rolls are too small for the price. Their specialty rolls are interesting and unique but very high in price. Drinks are so high in price in my opinion that it takes away from the experience of getting them and there is no alternative. $8 for a 12oz bottle of beer? $20 martini? And getting tap water in their little 6 oz cups is a chore and seems frowned upon. No Ice. Soft drinks are in a can. Club soda is served in a little airplane bottle for $4 a piece. You could save a buck or two on drinks during their "golden hour" happy hour from 4-5 (lol). Does that tell you what you need to know? Overall money grab for no reason and the place just doesn't deliver for what you pay in my opinion. The 3rd time will be my last. read more
