I guess this place only caters to long time consistent clients. I decided to get my nails done after almost a year of not having them done. I was very excited and was fine with waiting 30 minutes for a walk in since I didn't book an appointment. It started out great but unfortunately the tech rushed through the end leaving bubbles and an unfinished look. My nails started chipping and peeling 2 days after and they look awful... which is troubling considering the tech had guaranteed longer lasting nails and polish by getting the dip which btw is more expensive. I've literally gone to obsession since I was a kid so it doesn't bring me joy to write this but at this point I'm literally over getting scammed out of money by nail techs that either rush through or cannot complete their service with a happy client. I saw a review on here that made me very sad because every single time I come in to Obsession I am always greeted with smiling faces and although I've never seen Katelyn for my nails she always says "Hiii bestie" (because she's used to me greeting her that way) and I see T who always does my nails (who's station is right next to hers) and I have never left there unhappy, but I get to watch her work and see the nails she does and they also always look beautiful. T's work is always beyond amazing and the designs are beautiful and he works diligently to make sure his clients are happy and always has a smile on his face ready to do whatever design I ask. Everyone is SO friendly and everytime I leave the salon it can turn a really crappy day into a really good day! I am so thankful I found this salon. Vu was the best, but he recently left to start his own salon in Farmington Hills. I was really bummed and thought I'd have to start my search over again for someone new. I switched to Ashta and she is just as good as Vu! Truly the only tech that can make my gel last more than 2 weeks. I'm always so happy with what she does. Definitely not after this time, a week after i got my nails done they started changing colors and she had made my nails crooked and all the materials they were using was not sanitary at all, nothing was cleaned after they finished someone's nails, they would use the same supplies for the next costumer. They are also very rude and talk bad about you. And told me they would not redo my nails because i used hair dye or something to make them turn this color. Which i don't do anything i just got out of high school so i don't work. My sister is a cosmetologist and said gel should never turn like that, and it never has out of all the years i've got them done. I have been a loyal Customer for the past year and a half coming in for shellac toes and dip and manicures like clockwork. This last time one of the girls made my nails super thick and chunky looking and after one week the topcoat started peeling off and the nails were chipping easily. I am a single mother and extremely busy with work and taking care of my child I never had time to stop in to the shop but I called today and texted the manager a picture of my nails. She told me that she will give me a discount that if I had come and told them in the first week they would have redone them? But this is the second week so I only get some type of a discount? How does this make any sense? I am a small business owner if anyone has any kind of an issue that is continuing to get worse why in the world wouldn't I replace or redo the service so that it is satisfactory? Did they lose out on money? I'm the one who lost out because my nails look like shit after one week. It's as if they don't believe this happened in the first week and that's what they're telling me is that I am a liar. I don't appreciate this kind of treatment and I'll take my business elsewhere. It's fine because one of the girls there is so negative and mean, the next one is talking on her phone to her boyfriend literally the entire time she is doing your nails, the bathrooms are filthy. I've been getting dip for a while to know when something's off. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but hopefully this will impact some change because what happened was gross. I was seated with a man in the middle of the manicure section. His station wasn't clean. He didn't put a towel down or arm rest and so my hands were on a dirty table during the time. He didn't use a base coat, nor clean up my nails. Just cut, applied color, filed, nicked me a few times with no apology, smacked my hands with the dirtiest fluffy brush to get excess powder off, cured my nails under the light and didn't bother to clean up the edges and then told me to go wash my hands and I was done. My nails haven't stopped burning since I left the appointment. This usually takes 45 min at a minimum when done with care, but I was out of the salon in 20 min. I will say, a lot of the women around me didn't seem to be getting this same treatment - it clearly didn't meet their standard of work. As I was washing my hands, the women working at the station next to me said something along the lines "love the color, almost looks like a woman did it." I think she could tell I was unhappy with the way the service was. I don't see myself going back there at risk of getting placed with him again. Everything about it grossed me out. read more

The owner Katelyn is rude and there isn't a receptionist to welcome you or check you out. Additionally, I have to book my appointment a month in advance only for to have to wait 15 -20 minutes for her to finish with another client. My manicure looked terrible bc it was so rushed. The dip looks thick and my nail shape is horribly boxy. I am leaving tomorrow but am considering trying to redo my nails after paying $57. I'm really upset by this and I shouldn't of left but I had to rush home since i had to wait 25 minutes after my booked appointment. I know why many of my friends have left this salon. This salon is not what is could be. I want to feel pampered a little not rushed and short changed with a rough manicure. Salon also needs a deep clean. The current management (changed ownership a couple years ago), needs to put emphasis on cleaning. The dust and dirt in the corners, tables & floors is very concerning. I stumbled into this place last night when I was at Pei Wei. I was in need of a desperate pedicure and didn't realize this place was here! I went in and made an appointment for this morning and off I went to get my pedicure since my feet were looking pretty rough from the long dry (and snowy) winter. I love how this place is decorated. It's nicer then most salons in regards to being bland and boring. Really nice chairs, and plenty of murals on the wall. Also, what I loved about the staff is that they were friendly and welcoming. For the first time in a long time I was greeted by name! They used my name the whole time which seems to have made a difference to me. It made it feel personal. After I picked out my polish I was seated in the back which is the pedicure area. The man who did my feet was pleasant and did a good job. My heels were in rough shape, and he got out the cheese grater for me really getting the skin off my feet. I got the hot towel treatment, which I LOVE because it's so relaxing. The place seems to be really busy, as I wasn't expecting to see that many people there at 10 AM when they opened. I figured if I went right off the bat, it might be quieter and less busy. Nope. I was wrong. I was one of 5 gals there waiting for the doors to open! More rolled in 15 minutes later. My entire side of the salon was full by the time 10:30 rolled around. Total price paid for a nice pedicure? $27! That is pretty average but I was really happy with the service and staff here, so I'm a very satisfied customer. I am also surprised by these negative reviews. This is my go-to place also. I've been getting great, long lasting pedicures here for years and years. In the last year or two, I started getting Gel manis and they last so long, my nails grow out and break off before I go get them changed. The place is always clean, although sometimes very crowded, and the staff is friendly although they don't all speak much/speak English. There are a couple techs I see regularly that are a pleasure to chat with. I highly recommend Obsessions. I have tried several (4, to be exact) other places and have never found a better, longer-lasting mani or pedi for less. I got there and they asked me to pick out my colors, I'll dd the picture of what I wanted.... Vs what I got... I wanted French tips with pastel colors for Easter. Kim was my nail tech, and she helped me find the colors (took about 15 minutes). I suggested we didn't do a teal color (bc it's not pastel) and she said it would be fine. We sat down and she started drilling off my previous dip, she kept getting distracted by the game on her phone and drilling my finger instead. It never cut me, but was still uncomfortable. I think it's pretty unprofessional to be playing a game and consistently looking over at it. I arrived at 5:45 and got out at 7:15 (I also don't feel like this was worth $55)the teal finger bothers me so much lol. I should've pushed that I wanted pastel more, so it's not entirely her fault. Nail tech Vu is the best! I lived in LA and couldn't find anyone nearly as good as him even in Beverly Hills. Make an appointment because this place is the busiest in Rochester. I drive from Bloomfield to get my nails done here and I am happy every single time. I am religious about my nails and some customers here are just ridiculous. The negative reviews are actually mind blowing to me because I have only witnessed customers acting insane- NONE of the staff. They're always professional and nice. They were also talking about drugs right next to other clients (older women that I'm sure don't appreciate). A gentleman performed my manicure and pedicure. He was a quiet type, and we did not converse during the procedure. The facilities were clean and my pedicure was good. The lady at the front desk was filling seats non stop like a full on logistics operations manager. My manicure on the other hand did not last 5 minutes. After sitting in the drying fans, for 2 six minute sessions, I was given the ok to go. When I cautiously opened my car door, the latch received 3 small stripes of pink. Overall, my experience at Obsessions was good, not great. I didn't feel comfortable during my pampering mani-pedi. I may or may not return. read more
