The project had many things to accomplish. The largest being the bathroom, the deck railings, and a door removal. All went seamlessly. The hard part was me picking the tile. I have hired OC Construction for a few different projects. I had a roof fix that other contractors had problems resolving and Carlos and his crew got it done. In addition, OC Construction replaced the french doors in the back of my house that had been poorly installed years prior, and were leaking. We had a great experience with OC Construction/Carlos, and have used him several times. One project I'd highlight is a complete renovation of our original 40=ish year old bathroom. His crew took everything down to studs, redid the copper plumbing and electrical, installed tile laser-straight and various fixtures, painted, and much more. We hired Carlos to put down a floor in a space at the back of our yard. We also paid him a good rate for this service. After a few days, we noticed that a number of the boards by the front door were not sitting right. Carlos came by and sent his floor guy as well to look at the job. He promised that he would send his guy back within a couple of weeks to fix the floor. Then came the crickets. No one came and Carlos did not call. So, we called/texted him. We got an apology and another promise. Two more weeks came and went and again. . .crickets. At any rate, now months have gone by and Carlo (OC Construction) has now ghosted us completely. I can see that my texts are going through, but Carlos no longer responds. Part of a quality job is the follow up when things don't go right. Because this company failed in this regard after doing a less than perfect job on laying down the floor, I can't recommend them to anyone. read more

We worked with Carlos to redo parts of our bathroom and dining room and build a new fireplace for our living room. They completed the job with a great finish and transformed the areas we got work done (please see attached before/after pictures). They proactively addressed any concerns we had and were also willing to help us with few minor jobs that we needed help with. OC Construction did a project for us that started in April 2017. I found Carlos on Yelp under his previous business name Olguin Drywall and Painting. Initially, I asked Carlos to give me a quote on Drywall Repair and Painting. We noticed water damage in one of our rooms and we wanted to get it fixed. Lesson for all homeowners, once you open a wall you have no idea what's behind it. It was like being one of those people on HGTV where you kept finding more damage. A project that we thought was going to be drywall repair in one room turned into Re-Siding the whole exterior of the home. There was water damage throughout the house and our deck had termite damage. To my surprise, Carlos informed me that he would be able to do the whole project. He had recently got a license as a construction contractor and his work went beyond drywall and painting. For a project that was this big, it was difficult getting contractors to come out and even provide a quote. We decided to go with Carlos. The project included: - Drywall and paint in one of our bedrooms - Install new wood flooring in that bedroom - Demo of old wood siding on exterior - Replaced nearly all windows on exterior of the house - Add Insulation and Waterproof layer to the exterior walls - Stucco Siding and Paint on Exterior of the House - Replace Electrical Panel - Patch up and paint drywall in certain rooms of the house that had damage as a result of the demo of the siding - Install two new exterior decks in the backyard. The original timeline was around 3-4 months. The project extended to around 7 months. Part of this was due to weather and us deciding if we were going to get a new deck or not. The other part was that Carlos had problems with the City to get an approval on the permit for the deck. Some cities are more strict with their rules when providing a site plan for the deck. I had to hire a third party land surveyor that would draft out a site map that showed the property lines. This was the last step I needed to complete in order for Carlos to get the final approval on the deck Overall, my wife and I are very satisfied with the work and service provided by Carlos and OC Construction. I've learned that big projects like this don't always go as planned in regards to timeline. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because getting the deck approval from the city was a headache. Other than that, I thought OC Construction did a great job on our project. I would consider using them again in the future. read more

Carlos was cooperative in putting together a project plan that suited our needs and schedule. The project started and finished per the estimated timeline. They also provided additional touch ups after the project ended, which was appreciated. Overall, we were pleased with OC Construction's work. 4.5 stars. One thing that would've made this a 5-star review is to have gotten regular updates throughout the project (e.g. what was done today + plans/schedule for the next day). We are happy that we went with that choice because the siding looks very durable and beautiful. Carlos and his team were subcontracted as part of a larger A/C installation in our home and were tasked with patching and painting three of our walls. I can say that Carlos' team did A+ quality work and our walls now look fantastic. In terms of scheduling, we had a baby that was out of the house during construction, so we wanted the job to be done as soon as possible. Carlos accommodated our needs and moved things around to finish the job over three sessions in less than a week. While there were some hiccups in communication around the appointment times and paint color, I know Carlos did his best and the outcome was positive, so I am still giving five stars. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Carlos and his crew. I contacted Carlos under his former business, Olguin Drywall and Painting, to get a quote on painting our house. Our foyer had obvious water damage around the windowsills that had come from bad construction before we bought the place, and so I hired him to redo the drywall in that room, and to fix our back stairs. After the old drywall was off in our foyer, it was obvious that more needed to be done... several beams had rotted completely through and the window frames were beyond repair, so Carlos worked up a quote for effectively completely redoing our walls and window frames in that room. The back stairs also ended up needing to be replaced, something that I suspected would be true before I hired him for the work. He also repaired a water damaged front balcony. Throughout the entire process, which took several weeks total, Carlos and his crew were polite and hard-working. Carlos consulted with me on the house painting and the final result looks great. He threw in some extra work on replacing some of the wood around the edge of the roof, and has taken extra care in reattaching some of the fixtures that had to come down for the work. Every time we discovered unexpected extra work, Carlos was very clear with me about options, and also presented clearly written change orders. Communication was top notch throughout. Carlos is a nice guy and clearly takes pride in doing a job properly, and can do a wide range of construction projects. I'll definitely look him up again if I have another piece of contracting work in the house. read more

I contracted Carlos to rebuild my exterior staircase and paint my interior walls. Carlos was extremely responsive from the get-go -- He came out to survey my property and provided a quote very quickly. He also managed to pull the necessary city permit within a day during COVID when construction work was restricted. OC Construction rebuilt our back porch and created a beautiful new redwood deck with steps on one side and a ramp on the other. Our old porch was a concrete block with an irrigation water pipe running through it. They moved the water pipe into the crawlspace and demolished the concrete structure. All of the bids for the project were fairly close, but I selected OC because the owner, Carlos, was very responsive to any questions and quickly returned calls and emails. He also visited the worksite regularly to make sure things were going according to plan. The work crew clearly worked hard to keep on schedule and get the project finished on time.
