It gives me a great comfort to know that there is a truly honest and intelligent business man like the owner of this business establishment, Ed Kim. He is extremely knowledgeable and transparent, which are very difficult qualities to find these days, unfortunately . He came over to our newly built home to diagnose a source of the deck leak. He was very scientific and precise with all the right tools, pinpointing to the right direction in order for us to save $$. Most contractors would have and have recommended to tear down the entire deck to find out the source of leaks, which can cost us fortune. However, Ed was very different. His motive was not $$ but to help his customers make the right decision. He is also very knowledgeable on the mold issue, which can cost you more than fixing a deck at times. We are So grateful to find OC Decks after unsuccessfully consulting with three other companies over two years. They all let us down. We have a third story deck that has been a problem for years. This company is great! My wife and I needed to repair the deck at our house and got multiple bids. Although OC Deck's was in line with other companies, it still seemed like a lot of money for this project. That is, until they started working. That's when we saw the extent of the work needed and the attention to detail that Ed's team does. OC Decks did a fabulous job from start to finish and deserves an A++ grade! My mother needed her 484 square foot deck above a 3-car garage waterproofed. She had previously repaired the existing roofing material that was really old but there were still problems with leaking. So I found three companies (from Angie's List and Yelp) and scheduled them to inspect and provide proposals to remove the existing roofing material and install a new waterproofed deck. Of the three companies that we interviewed and received proposals, we liked OC Decks the best for the following reasons: 1) Ed and Sharon Kim, the owners, came out to meet us on the first visit while the other two companies sent estimators; 2) Ed suggested installing wood pickets to the existing wood railing to make it more secure and showed us pictures of another project where he finished a similar installation; 3) Ed said he would repair the deck stucco walls and paint to match the existing color; 4) OC Decks provided a step-by-step proposal of the project; and 5) Their three references spoke very highly of the quality of the work by OC Decks. While OC Decks original proposal was not the cheapest, we felt liked the project scope because new wood pickets would be installed in addition to waterproofing the deck. We had to wait for OC Decks about 1.5 months before the start date because they had a backlog of projects. But OC Decks was worth the wait. It took them 2 weeks to complete the project with Lorenzo and Abraham at the project every day and occasional visits from Miguel the foreman. Alexia, the office assistant, emailed me pictures of their progress every day and I spoke with Sharon and Ed several times about their recommended changes and approval of two change orders. My mother is thrilled with her new waterproofed deck and updated wood railing and I thought that the workmanship was excellent. This remodeling project was a success from start to finish. My contractor gave us OC Decks info to have OC give us an estimate for a new rooftop deck. We called and schedule an appointment to come down and look at the project. After they came down, they said we would get the estimate in a day or two. We NEVER got the estimate. I texted them, left them voicemails and they never returned any of my messages. So not going to use them for our project. I wish they would have told us the project was too small, they were too busy rather than just ghosting us and me having to leave this negative review. read more

I had OC Decks come out and redo my upstairs balcony a year ago. They were very nice and got the work done in a timely fashion, but now a year later I'm finding out they were not the best for doing the woodwork. A year later and I'm seeing large separations and nails pushing through the paint. The wood they used was not seasoned because I have sap coming out all over the place. They did come out several months after finishing to try and fix it but I just got finished repairing what they did. I hope I don't have issues with the deck like I'm having with the woodwork. read more

This would be a zero star review if I could. They built us a beautiful deck but during the construction they blocked off our clean out valve for our sink. They agreed to fix it provided we pay for the hardware required, which we did. After multiple phone calls that were not returned over 6 months I finally called from a different number and spoke to the owner. She flat out refused to come finish the job even acknowledging that we had offered to pay for it. I do not recommend this company. read more

It's sad because this review could have been easily avoided had they listened to me 5 months ago. I've been SO patient with OC decks but they just don't care about their customers. Brand new deck is peeling because of lousy job. I will have ANOTHER leak in the future because OC decks didn't seal my deck 100%. A hole is visible and peeling is occurring all over the side because they didn't bring it up EVENLY and do a decent job. They WONT return my phone calls and have asked me to email photos and they NEVER returned my emails. Say they are to busy and can't even get appointments for people who want new decks. Well, you should probably make sure you take care of who's already paid for a new deck and is having issues. I will keep record of all my attempts to get you guys out here because there will be a leak in the future. I'm really not the person the do this to. Just a couple photos of what's going on since this will probably get your attention. It would take them an hour or two to fix their mistakes but they won't do it. This will end up in court if you don't fix it because I'm going to get another leak and it's going to destroy bathroom underneath it (again) and it could have been avoided by fixing it like I've been telling you for 5 + months. I've tried so many times to get you guys out here BEFORE writing a 1 star review so be upset at yourself that you couldn't take an hour to fix the shit job your crew left. What kind of business won't let you make an appointment? Not 6 months from now a year from now? Nothing. read more

Their crew showed up on time as promised, left the project area clean after each day and made the necessary repairs to correct the problem. They completed the project within their estimated time and at the price quoted. I live in downtown HB and had my 3rd floor deck replaced 2 years ago by OC Decking. They were higher priced, but I went with them thinking their method and work was superior. My deck is already cracking and the top layer of material is bubbling up in many places and I am concerned it will begin leaking in the house again. They came out and looked at it month ago and said they would schedule a time to fix it after the rain. I have not heard from them and they do not return my calls. read more
