With our tighter budget, I already accepted that the ring may have to be modest. You hear about people having 20k rings which felt unrealistic for us. But the selection within our range was incredible with so many beautiful rings from the 1800s to modern. I love that my ring combines everything about the old saying.. It's something old, new, borrowed, and blue :) Modern engagement rings didn't align with our hopes of design, ethics, and sustainability. So we looked for antique and vintage. Was shopping around the orange circle for an antique ring box. I walked into this shop and saw there were many empty ring boxes on display. I inquired about said boxes and samy told me in an annoyed tone that none of the empty ring boxes on display were for sale. He offered to sell me "new" boxes but that wasn't what I was shopping for. I found this to be odd because after reviewing their instagram page they are advertising the sale of their ring boxes. I left the store pretty disappointed. read more

I left a great review a few days prior, then when uncovering how Samy really is I chose to delete that review and start fresh. I was glad to have done some portion of "business" with Samy. I know very well he buys all these rings at a fraction of what he charges. I asked Samy to size the ring and ensured that it came with what I paid . A few days later I wanted to make sure what I got was what I paid for so I had Samy appraise it, he sold to me at 1500. Which was a great buy, Samy lacked any paperwork so I did want it appraised it came back worth 3500. After the appraisal came back Samy had gotten strange and taken back the "included" sizing and I had presented the make shift card receipt saying that he would size it included in the price. I believe that he had some sort of buyers remorse selling it to me for much less. He also mocked me calling me a loser and such to my friends that went to pick up the ring and mocking my voice as well. I would never refer this man to any friend of mine and I hope anyone takes a look at this review prior time making a large purchase with this man. I thought this guy was a genuinely nice guy. I like so many of the shops in the Orange Circle, but this estate jewelry has become one of my favorites for various reasons. The owner of the store, Samy, is a kind-hearted and wise man who cultivated interesting conversation while you're looking in his shop. He's an experienced man and a master of his craft. If I remember correctly, I believe he's been in this industry for over 60 years and it shows. He can talk to you about any of the pieces in his store: where he got it, who he got it from, why he likes it, how much he bought it for, etc. He's transparent with his sales and certainly appreciates patronage. He really has something for everyone. I have returned to Samy's shop many of times and there's always something interesting. I purchased a beautiful and almost regal crystal cat that now sits on my piano. For my mother, I selected a statue of the archangel Gabriele with imagery of some significant events in the Book of Revelation posted on the angel's wings. For my brother's college graduation, I picked out a pair of silver horse-headed cuff links, which Samy was happy to polish off and remove any blemishes from sitting in a box for a long time. We went in knowing we would overspend but my grandmother wanted a souvenir to remember the trip by. After being told he was "giving it to us at cost" which was false and that he was "doing us a favor" and "giving us a deal because he liked us".
