I came in to see Dr. Nguyen because I had a lot of lower back pain. She quickly did an assessment and it was, surely enough, poor posture on my end. Luckily, she was able to catch me on how to sit up when I'm at my desk, and some exercises I can do that home. She then adjusted my back. I go to her monthly, and since then, my back feels amazing. She is continuous doing pulse checks and asks what needs help. She is also very easy to talk to which makes the consultation and adjustments feel like a piece of cake. Every young boy is told by their father that one day, they will become a man, and with such great responsibility comes the pain of carrying the weight of a sedentary lifestyle and atrophying abdominal muscles on one's back. In my 38th and now 39th year, I have officially become that man that my father spoke prophetically of. So for the first time in my life, I went, against previous skepticism about chiropractors, to ocliveactive to see if I could get someone to crack my back pain away. I learned something new, chiropractics isn't just about cracking things. Dr. Franchesca asked me where my pain was and described what she was going to do to try and relieve my pain. She told me to tell her if anything was too painful during her treatment and proceeded to apply some serious pressure into the muscles in my back and hip areas. Like laser focused pinpoint pressure unlike I've ever felt at the dozens of massage sessions I've had. She kept comforting me asking if I was okay. Trembling with tears welling up in my eyes, I told her, "urggghhhh, I'm Uuunnnn-kay" knowing that I am now a man, and man can neither show pain nor cry. Because the truth of the matter is, it wasn't painful where it was bad, it was that pain I know I needed because of stiff and inactive muscles and she was doing what she does as a professional. The session asked about 20-30 minutes, Dr. Franchesca gave me some homework and exercises to do and sent me on my way. The day after the session, I was already feeling much better. It's still not perfect, sitting for too long and standing too long still can be aggravating, but I can at least do those things for longer than before the sessions without pain. Such an awesome experience! This was my first time going to a chiropractor but I've had neck and back pain for years. I never even thought about going to a chiropractor but I'm SO glad I did. The office is small but very nice. I filled in my paperwork before coming in and Dr. Nguyen went over all the information. When filling out the forms, I wasn't sure why so much info was needed but it made sense once she went over every form. She asked me many questions about my medical history and was able to diagnose why these problems might occur (for example: I get migraines sometimes and she helped me figure out what might trigger it and how to prevent it). I loved that she was accessing my well-being as a whole. When it came to the adjustment, she was able to identify everything I needed instantly. The soft tissue work was amazing. It felt so good. But the actually adjustments were the best! I always get so surprised by how much my back cracks and I felt so relieved afterwards. She even explained to me what causes it to crack! My visit to OC Live Active was such a great experience! I called ahead of time to schedule an appointment with Dr. Nguyen due to a pain in my ankle. I went to the my medical doctor a few days ago, and they sent me out to get an x-ray to see what was going on. I'm a tad bit impatient and wanted a second opinion. Dr. Nguyen sat me down and took a look at my ankle, felt around and told me I had a sprained ankle... who knew... OMG. Where to even begin with my experience here. First off, let me preface that I have worked in a chiropractor's office before and have seen other chiropractors in the LA and OC areas, but my experience here was definitely above all of those. In scheduling my first appointment, Dr Nguyen gave me her personal cell phone number to contact her. If that's not a sign of an amazing doctor, i don't know what is. She spoke with me on the phone for like 30min just listening to prior experiences at chiropractor's offices and she assured me that my experience was going to be a little different, but if I was open to it to come and see for myself. Upon arrival, I was immediately seen by Dr. Nguyen. I love that her office only has 2 adjusting tables so you know that your time is valued here. (She is by appointment, so definitely don't walk in and expect to be seen.) When i sat down to do my initial assessment, I really appreciate that Dr Nguyen really took the time to get to know my medical history. She definitely asked me all the questions about my health and well-being, beyond what most chiropractors would ask. She also explained why she she went so in depth, so that I loved that she took the time to explain all of that for me. When it was time for my adjustment, she did an assessment on my spine and realized that my neck and shoulders were very, very tense, so she did some soft tissue work before adjusting my upper back (it was my first time!). I truly believe that changed it for me. I had been adjusted before without the soft tissue work and I always felt like I still had tension in my back. When she adjusted my hips, I had known from previous experience that one leg was slightly longer than the other, so I mentioned that, and she confirmed that it was true, and adjusted accordingly. When it came time to my neck, I did tense up (as I normally do) so she quickly assessed that she needed to distract me so she could adjust and get the release. I like that she did that, as I feel that my tensing up is what causes that post-adjustment "I need to crack my neck still" feeling I used to always get. Overall, even if I don't live in the OC, I would spend the 45-60 minutes on the 405 so that I know I am getting the best adjustment. I definitely look forward to my future visits!! read more

I've seen a few chiro's in my time and Dr. Nguyen is top-notch and awesome! She makes sure that your body is loose and ready before she makes any adjustments on you. I understand if your neck is hurting there's a limited amount of things you can do. But at the very least you'd want to walk out of the session feeling less pain. I understand Francesca did the best she could, but I could help but feel a little slighted with the up charge. Most chiropractors have an all-encompassing session with a light massage followed by adjustments. She did a "sports massage" (extra charge) that essentially left a bruised neck that made it so painful I couldn't get the adjustment--which is why I came there in the first place. I also didn't think she followed all the procedures to make a proper assessment. read more

I was so nervous finding a new chiropractor ( mine moved out of State) as you hear all these horror stories but after reading her great reviews on Yelp I thought I'd give her a try.
