I collect watches. It's one of my passions. I stop by all the local jewelry stores and pawn shops every month. There are only a few in the Orange County area that have a decent selection. The problem is most of these places over price there watches and are not friendliest people in the world. I happen to be driving to Seal Beach last weekend and saw a new watch store on PCH in Sunset Beach. The place is by far of of the cleanest places I have ever been in. The owner was very friendly and he actually acted like he cared. Great selection of watches and what he didn't he said he would start looking for it and should have it in a couple of weeks. Be careful as Patrick and OC Watch Guy do not offer full refunds on purchases unlike some of their competitors. They have a 10% re stocking fee that also applies to purchased watches that have NOT BEEN SHIPPED or even left his store location. I found this out the hard way when I attempted to refund a transaction a few days after changing my mind on a Panerai PAM 372 before the watch shipped. I decided I wanted a 372 with sapphire crystal instead of the plexiglass due to it being more practical with scratches. Patrick notified me of his 10% re stocking fee and reminded me that as he had another buyer previously for the watch which he turned away because of my transaction, I also had a chance to get my deposit back. When I asked if he contacted the "other buyer" to notify them the watch was available after I had messaged Patrick the day before to cancel, he said that he hadn't. I reminded him he had another mint PAM 372 in stock advertised at the same time and price and he sheepishly claimed they weren't interested in the watch because it didn't have the sticker on the case back. I suspect there was not another buyer as he claims and was sitting on this inventory for a while. Given that he had not shipped out the watch to me, I told him I wasn't happy that he wasn't prepared to issue a full refund. I offered to cover any costs incurred to him with the transaction and even offered for Patrick to keep my money in full until he sold the watch to another buyer, but he wasn't interested. He reluctantly reduced the cancellation "fee" to $450.00USD which is approx $600 CAD in Canada. As I couldn't justify paying a $600 CAD "fee" cash grab, for a watch he never shipped out to me, I reluctantly felt I had to take it and have it shipped on principle. Now I am stuck with a watch I am not happy with and subsequently paid a pile of duty and tax on. I take responsibility for jumping the gun on this watch and purchasing it before reading the fine print on the OC Watch Guy web site first, but a reputable dealer with integrity would refund the purchase in full, given the circumstances. Patrick had an opportunity to fix the situation and chose not to. I will be in the market for a couple more expensive time pieces in the near future and as a result of Patrick's short sighted business approach to dealing with this matter, I will be taking my future business and referrals elsewhere. It's worth noting for any prospective buyers that a competing reputable watch broker, Watches 24 Seven offer a 24 hour full refund on in stock watches and have a more comprehensive inventory of watches, in particular Panerai. read more
