I read many reviews on this restaurant and decided to try it. We received a gift card for $250 dollars from Christmas which prompted me to look into this restaurant as well. Service was very good from making a reservation to ordering. The food was good. Started with escargot , wedge salad and thick cut bacon. All were fine nothing over the top. For dinner we had the organic chicken, sea scallops and filet mignon. Our dishes were very good and happily we had enough to take home. Truffle fries are a must. Overall it was a nice meal and I enjoyed the night. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded and loud. The room was lovely. I do agree though on most reviews that it is expensive. With our $250 gift card we still had to lay out $250. 3 drinks , appetizers and main courses. No dessert. That is one expensive dinner !! read more

We stumbled upon this place as we were looking for somewhere to go for New Years Eve! So we had a 9:30 reservation! The place is really a beautiful restaurant! They gave us a tour of their party rooms upstairs. The whole restaurant is done in Venetian. Including the Bars! What an amazing decor. Not dark, like most steakhouses! Very pretty!! They are located in what seemed to be a pretty residential area. It's a HUGE stand alone building. Looks like a huge house. From what I was told this was housed for many years as a French Restaurant called La Panettiere. They had Valet parking and a very large parking lot. We hung at the bar for a while with Kristie. Then we went to the main dining room for a really great dinner. Service was on the money! Presentation was great! Flavor was amazing. We started with bread and butter. Then we ordered some Oysters, and Escargot. I never had escargot prepared the way they did, but it was truly delicious!! Had a light tomato sauce on them. We had a Caesar Salad. My friend and I shared the Trennette which was Crab meat (real) with a truffle sauce. They divided it for us. My husband had the Chilean Sea Bass, and my Friend had the Dry Aged Prime Rib. We had French fries. The drinks were great! We rang in the New Year with the Staff. It was very nice. They were all so friendly and warm. As if we knew them forever! DISAPOINTED We dine out several times a week in Fairfield, Westchester, NYC and love to try new places. We picked Ocean Blue Prime for New Year's Eve dinner to stay close to home. Always looking for a good Steak House and it would have been great to found one in the area and save us our 2 or more trips a month to Brooklyn for steak at Lugers. Service was slow; food was average at best but not for the prices, for the two of us just shy of $400.00 with 20% tip. That is not an issue if the service and food is well prepared. When you order a med rare steak should that should be the way you get it, my go to as a side is always creamed spinach usually very tasty, not so much here. Beyond disappointing. The service was inept. The baked clams overcooked. The pricey Dover sole the worst ever, like rubber. The French fries were served cold. The creamed spinach was awful. My wife and I recently visited Ocean Blue Prime in Rye, New York for a late lunch. After being seated a beautifully place table, we looked at a menu which had a list of amazing foods. We started with a couple of appetizers, tuna, tartare, and escargot. The tuna tartare was beautifully presented, and the escargot had the perfect amount of garlic. My wife dined on perfectly prepared sea scallops, and I chose the boneless ribeye cooked to a perfect medium. We shared sides of creamed, spinach and truffle fries. I said I was going to try this restaurant again for dinner and it didn't disappoint. I had a great birthday celebration for my son because the food , the drinks, the service and the atmosphere were great. We started with two very well balanced cocktails, The Manhattan and a New old Fashion ( with tequila). The food was well presented and delicious, we tried the escargot, steak and Halibut . This was my second visit here. The first time I thought the food and service were good, but ridiculously overpriced. However, I saw the recent reviews and the same friends and I made a return, mostly because my God son wanted lobster and the other places in the area for lobster don't receive top reviews. The waitress did not seem to know anything about items and the menu and had to go somewhere to get the answers to several questions. Our meals came in piecemeal. One dinner arrived, then about ten minutes later a second and third, the forth did not come for another forty minutes AND it was the wrong order! Additionally, one of us had to send back a steak because it wasn't cooked as she ordered. It seemed as well the chef forgot to season some of the food. When I asked for salt and pepper it took ten minutes and when I asked for a fresh pepper mill the waitress had to go find one. It never came. Did I mention the bill was incorrect. They did fix this and the German potatoes were very good, so was the piano player. But $500+ for four people should earn five stars. Wow. I loved sitting upstairs and having the piano player - the atmosphere should have made everything slightly more enjoyable. First issue - the person who greeted us at the door was not friendly. We were seated, the waitress knew nothing about the menu. We were not given a drink list. We asked questions about the specials and the menu and were told "I'll ask and let you know." We ordered surf and turf medium rare - one dinner came out and they never put the order in for the 2nd. The steak for my child came out burnt on the outside and raw on the inside - was completely under seasoned - had to wait 20 minutes for salt and pepper. His $75 lobster tail was overcooked and disgusting. Everyone ate their dinner before mine even came out. My steak wasn't even a filet mignon, which is what I ordered. Once again, it was burnt on the outside and raw inside and my lobster was completely overcooked. Not once was there an apology issued. The check came and I was charged for a filet mignon when I wasn't even served a filet mignon. There were many opportunities for them to correct the mistakes that were made and at least seem the slightest bit sympathetic for the unbelievable amount of mistakes that were made - but none happened. This restaurant serves up such tasty cuisine and an elegant setting that I will happily make the hour long drive from NJ to dine here again and again! The crab cakes were divine, the sliders were out of this world, the grilled asparagus was the most delicious I've every tasted, the pannacotta dessert was worth every calorie, and the wine list was beyond spectacular! My husband and I have been here three different times, I've loved our experience each time. We love the interior of the restaurant the soft blues, the table cloths are blue and white, which give the Restaurant a beautiful, comfortable feeling . The service was excellent. It started badly. They brought rolls (not very good) with a yellowish spread. Could have been humus or something else. I asked the server what it was he said "sauce." Next I ordered the rib eye. Waiter asked how I wanted it done. I said medium rare. He said I recommend medium. I said ok. It came out as well done. No pink in the middle. At $65 you would think they would get it right. It was also something like 3/4 inch thick. The creamed spinach was a disappointment. Not up to the Palm or even close. Even the coffee at end of the meal was bad. To make things worse it was so noisy you could not hear yourself think. Their redecoration has made the sound reverberate off the walls. Good note - creme brûlée was very good. With Palm, Smith and Wolensky prices (over $100 pp), the food should have been much better. Really too bad because the Panatierre (which it replaced) was outstanding. read more

Four of us got to the restaurant at 5 for dinner and obviously the place was empty. This is the third time we have visited and the food and service were excellent. I haven't written a review in years but felt it was necessary based on other terrible reviews here. First of all a lot of work went into the beautiful Venitian plaster on all the walls. It leads to a relaxing atmosphere with the blue and white color. The service was excellent each time we were there including Easter Sunday. Obviously, since we were the only ones there last night at that time, that was expected. Last night I had the halibut which was a large piece and cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Easter Sunday he brought rack of lamb in specially for us since I requested it when I made reservation. It was cooked to perfection. Their grilled octopus and crab cakes were also delicious. Everyone else at my table enjoyed their food and of course their delicious desserts. I don't understand the 1 star ratings and total trashing of this restaurant. If you didn't like your food and they give you something else that happened to be good, why wouldn't you be fair in your rating. Anyway, we left at 8 and there were only 5 other tables occupied, which is sad. I will definitely go back. Hopefully the restaurant will survive. The prices are high, but then again so are all other restaurants in Rye. Try it for yourself and I am sure you will be satisfied. read more

I'm assuming that if you're reading this, you're either contemplating going there for dinner, or just had dinner there and were interested in finding out what other people thought. My wife and I are always frequenting local restaurants here in lower Westchester and love dining out, it's one of our favorite thing to do, and we especially love finding new places! All I can say is the ambience was great and the wait staff was extremely attentive and professional, but the food was terrible. If I could leave zero stars I would, and all I can say is don't bother going here. We didn't realize that they were celebrating their one year anniversary and were discounting the meals 25% which was unexpected, and a nice gesture, but then I noticed that when I was reviewing the check they added a 30% service charge which was based on the discounted price including the tax. I asked the waiter about it, he said that was the gratuity...30%!!!! But what was confusing is there was also a line to add a gratuity on top of a pricy meal. We will not be going back, and it'll be unlikely that they make it to there 2nd anniversary unless they get a new chef. read more

We went for dinner about 2 weeks ago and I'm still thinking about a most delightful dinner. It was our second time there; the decor, as previously mentioned by another reviewer, is lovely and relaxing with tasteful hues of blue and sparkling bright white. The service is the best, presented by people who take pride in their work. I started with the fresh raw oyster selection, which arrived in a sizable basin style bowl filled with crushed ice, some smaller and larger type oysters in a circle, all sprinkled with tiny arugula leaf specks. In the center of the ice, three little bowls of accompaniments; some fresh mild shredded white horseradish, American style red cocktail sauce and a pink mignonette. For an entree, I had big beautiful sea scallops with a celeri root puree and a stream of lovely blood orange coulis. The harmony and creativity of presentation and flavors achieved by the chef is impressive and a joy for all the diners. We are lucky to have this special place right here. I really wanted to like this place, but was very disappointed. I started with the bisque, which was underwhelming. We then ordered the porterhouse, which I expected to love considering the price, but it was terrible. It had a strange texture and gristle running throughout every piece, so it was impossible to chew. It was also not seasoned at all. I can understand wanting the flavor of the meat to come through, but the flavor was actually foul, and at least a little salt might have helped mask it. The waiter brought my husband and I replacement meals with no hesitation (filet and halibut) and apologized profusely. Unfortunately, our new dishes were mediocre as well. This wouldn't bother me that much if we didn't pay such an exorbitant amount. At the price we paid, I expected top-notch food. I expressed my disappointment again at the end of the meal, and our waiter brought us glasses of wine. The service was very good; I just wish the food was better. Overpriced so so food and service. Been to Ocean Blue twice. First time it was not very busy but still service was extremely slow and the food was not something to brag about. We believe in giving everything a twice chance so we recently went back and this time it was worse service and food. They asked us are we ready to order twenty minutes after sitting prior to giving us menus. After we got the menus, we were rushed to order. We ordered soup and crab cakes, which was fine but the main course is a joke. The steak for two was underseasoned and each person got three small sized slices. It was smaller than a steak for one elsewhere. We even said "this is for two people?" and the waiter said "I don't know". We ate it and went home for a midnight snack. This time there were more people so it was very loud and hard to hear the person you were talking to. Sorry but will not be back and wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

Had a lovely dinner with another couple last night. We were all very satisfied with our meals and the appetizers. The tuna tartar and wedge salad were the best i've ever had! The ambiance is nice and bright, but also refined and simple. The owner/staff were very attentive and really care about this restaurant, which is great to see.
