This is the first week of service and the place was very busy during dinner time. A new place offering options of tapa style and the latin fusion is Mexican/Spanish. The bar and seating area are both great options. The cocktail menu did not caught my attention and they also offer a variety of wines (glass/bottle) from Portugal/Spain. I really enjoyed the guacamole and chips, definitely would it love if it wasn't that small and I understand the menu is based in the concept of "tapas". The tortilla española was good, the camarón tacos were my favorite of the whole order. I was disappointed with the tequila tiramisu as I couldn't taste the tequila flavor in this dessert. I would definitely return to check if after a few weeks they adjust more options in response of customers' suggestions. Overall, a very nice place to indulge yourself with friends, family, significant-other (it's pricey but it's expected for the location). Great new addition to the Rye dining scene! My husband and I went on a Thursday evening. I'm glad we made a reservation because it was PACKED! The cocktails were great and they have a huge wine list. We ordered the Bomba, croquettes, gordito tacos, and Brussels sprouts. Churros for dessert. Everything was delicious! Our server, Mario, was wonderful. He was so so busy and still made sure we were taken care of. I do agree with the other reviews that it is a bit pricey, but the menu is posted on their website along with the prices, so you shouldn't be too surprised. It could be bc its new. Maybe they still need to work on some things. The food wasnt good to me. Our octopus app needed to be charred more and that along w all entrees was overly salty! I had to send my entree back and then the new one had no taste at all. I barely ate it. I also thought that it was expensive for the size of the plates. I liked the portion size (very tapas size) but thought it was expensive for the size. The good parts was the service! The waiter was very patient as we asked questions through the menu. The tiramisu was also really good but i read somewhere that it was supposed to have tequila in it? Def didn't taste the tequila! Also saw a pic of a menu when it first launched-prices already increased. The menu pic i saw said the steak was $29, we paid $36 for it last night! Went to Gordito for brunch with my significant other and was blown away, was seated immediately, ordered the shrimp tacos (we wanted to try the French toast but they were out of the brioche), brunch quesadilla, yucca fries, and corn. Everything was delicious and tasted so fresh. We finished off with churros for dessert and although we thought they could have been fried a little longer they were delish! We have eaten here several times and have enjoyed the food immensely. Portions large, and many GF choices as well. Service can be a little varied. When they get busy Thursday-Saturday it feels like they need more help, and you feel a little rushed during peak times. Space can get loud too. read more

Service was great and margaritas were good. From the appetizer menu, the shrimp and octopus were slightly overcooked and under seasoned. The crab croquettes didn't taste like they had any crab in them. The "paella" was virtually a crispy rice patty topped with some protein, definitely not enough food for an entree. Never have eaten so badly. Main course is a size of an appetizer and they called paëlla. Uncooked rice with 3 shrimps and one piece of uncooked octopus. This was a size of a plate for a tea cup and we payed almost 30$ for it. Seriously I expect more for my money. read more

such a treat to have this new restaurant in rye. the brunch is amazing, with the french toast being among the best i ever had. the different dinner entrees were superb, the duck tacos were amazing, and then the desserts were the best (highly recommend the rozzo con vanilla!!) the staff were extremely accommodating and masterful. if you live in or around rye please support this restaurant with your patronage so we don't lose another innovative place to eat! read more

Arrived last evening. First, let me say that they did a good job with the ambiance. Second, they were pretty busy as they have just opened and it seems like everyone wants to try them out. Service was fair. Food - an absolute disappointment. I understand that this place is in Rye but the prices do not reflect the quality of food which is truly a disappointment. Guacamole was subpar. Chips were good. I had the carne asada. If you know anything about carne asada at a minimum it should be a nice cut of skirt steak. This looked and tasted like hanger steak. It came with patatas bravas which were probably the highlight of the meal. My friend had the chicken tacos. ZERO flavor. Here to remind you that 2 tacos are 19 dollars. Any self respecting taco aficionado would laugh at the prices and then at how plain the tacos tasted. Also, size of the tacos are about the same you would get at bar taco. Hope they make the changes that are needed. Probably won't be back. read more

I ate at Gordito with a large party to celebrate a birthday last Saturday night. We had a great experience, despite some hiccups that I attribute to the fact that the restaurant is new. The vibe is bright, lively, and tastefully colorful. Our waiter, Rene, was fantastic and attentive. The food was excellent, especially the steak entrée and the corn flour quesadillas. We enjoyed the unique wine list and spicy margaritas. However, the regular margaritas could be better; I wasn't too keen on mine, but Rene changed it right away. The wait for our appetizers and some drinks during peak time (around 7:30) was a bit slow, but things smoothed out by 8:00. Given the price of the food, the food runners could be better at noting who ordered what and not leaving it up to the dinners to claim their order. They could probably tweak their standard margarita recipe as well. Overall, we had a great experience, and I expect those little opening bumps will be ironed out in no time. read more

After several enjoyable visits to this restaurant, had a terrible experience. Very subpar service including food that came out way too fast (both apps and mains), a drink that never came despite flagging down the server to remind her and no check in from the server until the very end. More frustratingly, some of the food was very under seasoned (potato/egg tart and arroz con pollo) and not prepared well (undercooked rice and beans / dry potato egg tart). Given the apathetic service, we preferred to leave rather than complain and are very unlikely to return, especially considering the prices. read more

We had a reservation for 730 for a party of 5. After 40 minutes for our reservation which they insisted would be 5-10 mins.by 810 they proceeded to seat us at a table for 4 people. There was no accommodation for the wait and the inconsiderate table for a birthday party that was squeezed into a smaller table. After I spoke to management, Eliza , she expressed that she "told them to look out for us" which they did not. We had to ask for everything including to accommodate our friends who hadn't even been asked for a drink order after 15 minutes of sitting at the table. We sat and ordered at our own request - my husband received his hot meal 7+ mins after our table did with no response. I spoke directly with the management (who responded that she did nothing) and encouraged that there was nothing she could do to. The behavior in response to an unfortunate situation was the worst part of our experience. If Eliza had acknowledged our negative experience we may have opened up to returning. Unfortunately, her negative response and dismissal ensured no one of our party would ever return. read more

Looking to for a fun new restaurant? My husband & I celebrated our wedding anniversary last night & we we'll be back. We ordered the endive salad, fish of the day tacos & paella Marisco. For dessert, we had churros with chocolate sauce. Everything was fresh & flavorful. Portions were just right & beverage choice met all of our needs. Service was spot-on! This new place is only a week old and the Food is innovative and delicious! Try the guacamole that has olive oil in it! House-made tortilla chips make all the difference! The salads are fresh and amazing! Paella (we tried both 4 cheese and seafood) is out of this world and served in a nice single portion. The tacos are great as is the steak! Desserts are phenomenal -you must try the Nacho Sundae! Drinks are a 10 and the amazing bartender, Mikey, is truly talented and passionate.
