I've only had takeout from Ocean Blue, and even then I wasn't the one who picked up the food, so I can only comment on what I've eaten. I tried them out during the shutdown and have revisited multiple times since. I hit them up often during Lent. Ocean Blue is almost exclusively a takeout establishment, so this isn't a place to show off to out-of-towners whom you want to impress. If they don't mind the optics and just want inexpensive food quickly, then check them out. Ocean Blue offers some wildly low prices for their seafood. What's crazier is I believe their food is good - extremely good when you account for their price points. OB is also fairly fast and the lady working the counter is friendly (per my mom's experiences). Based on these aspects, I'd recommend Ocean Blue to anyone within a 2-5 minute drive from them. When entering the restaurant the decor is plain and simple. Seems like a local favorite in the area due to the decent combo prices and portions. I tried the 2 piece fish with jumbo shrimp and 2 sides (streamed broccoli & corn) and comes with hush puppies. Also order side of oysters, onion rings and complementary Cole slaw. And when they brought out the order its was no wonder its a local fave. Big portions on everything! Everything was tasty except the onion rings. Didn't taste much like anything. Norfolk has crab boil places popping up everywhere but Ocean blue is local and has been here forever!!! I ordered a dozen a steam #2 Male crabs. I specifically asked if the crab were fresh, because I initially asked for live. They called me back and said they didn't have anymore live but they finished cooking the steamed. I ask several times if they were fresh and she said yes. Once getting home the crabs were mushy, watery and hollow. Certainly do not recommend. I knew something wasn't right when they called me back. I will not be retuning! read more

I came here twice on my lunch break and the first time I ordered the shrimp and fish dinner, but I didn't get any shrimp. My second time was today and in the mood for fried seafood, I was willing to give another chance. I ordered the fried shrimp dinner with 2 sides. The steamed broccoli was the best part of the meal. The shrimp were small and few (maybe 10-13 shrimp), and an abundance of French fries. I'm so disappointed again. If I could give it a zero I would. The crab meat was slimy inside. Just weird. More importantly, the batter was mushy. The battery was so so mushy. Oh my lord it was bad. I ate half of one and ended up throwing the rest out. Between the meat feeling slimy and looking weird, the batter was just so bad, I cannot stress that enough. Portions are huge! Prices are low! Food is underwhelming. I ordered some fried fish with fries and cole slaw. The Cole slaw I took on first and it was a little dry. The fries were flavored but seemed to come from the frozen food section from the local grocery store. The fish still had the skin on it fried and I removed a few bones from chowing down on it. I could be wrong on my assessment. Maybe this place is considerably better then all other fish places and I like sub quality fish. I just wanted some good fish as Norfolk is right on the coast. Enough space for a quick lunch. My cousin suggested the hibatchi, so that's exactly what i ordered. Shrimp hibatchi, comes with vegetables and a choice of white rice, fried rice or noodles. I chose the noodles, which were lomein noodles. Lo mein is not specified on the menu but i was happy with that choice. The food came out quick and hot. There were plenty of succlent shrimp, veggies and noodles for an ample lunch. I could see the chopped cloves of garlic in my sauce. I will definately be back again. read more

I am here visiting from Cali and this has been my favorite place to eat thus far. . The flavors in their sauces are amazing!! Will be eating there next time I visit. Decided to try this place one afternoon and we did not regret it. We got a seafood boil with a pound of crabs and shrimp, and it was delicious!
