I've wanted to try Stony's for quite a while so my friend and I decided to stop in for lunch around 1pm on a Saturday. It was challenging to find parking but thankfully, we were able to find a spot right in the front. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were seated right away. With it being lunch time, we assumed we would be able to grab some lunch but to our surprise, they were serving brunch and we were only able to order off the brunch menu. We were slightly confused and definitely didn't have taste for breakfast items so we had to choose from a small selection of non-breakfast items. We started with Palomas. The drink menu only included the drink prices for Happy Hour, and it definitely wasn't Happy Hour, so we weren't sure how much the drinks were. The server mentioned one price, then came back and told us another price but either way, all that would've been eliminated if the prices were on the menu. After looking over the brunch menu, my friend didn't see anything appetizing so she asked if they could make a BLT Sandwich, which wasn't on the menu, and they agreed. I decided on the Crab Cake Sandwich. The food was served in decent time. My friend had an end piece of tomato on her sandwich, which was disappointing. Our server took her sweet time checking on us so and we literally had to flag down another server just to get ketchup. My sandwich didn't even come with remoulade sauce that was supposed to be added. I did enjoy my sandwich though, it was very tasty. I also ordered the Bourbon Glaze Wings 'to-go' and they were delicious. From not being able to order from a lunch menu, to our server not being attentive at all, our experience wasn't that great. We also had to battle flies the entire time we were there, and we were sitting inside so that was a bit frustrating. The restaurant is located right by the Marina and it has great views but the service left a lot to be desired. I may return for dinner in hopes of a better experience but it probably won't be any time soon. read more

Mixed experience. First, parking was very crowded when we arrived, and it felt like the lot may also serve nearby boat yard traffic, so plan a little extra time if you're going during a busy period. The location itself has a nice setup with indoor seating, outdoor seating, and a covered porch-style area that feels like a screened-in four-season space, which was really pleasant. We were seated fairly quickly and received menus, but there was some confusion because the menu listed breakfast and brunch items only. We were hoping to order lunch, but were later informed that lunch service doesn't begin until after 2:30 PM. I do wish that detail was clearly noted on their website, as it wasn't mentioned and it would've helped set expectations ahead of time. The brunch menu itself was fairly limited and didn't have many standout options for us. I ended up asking for a BLT with fries, and my friend ordered a crab cake sandwich. We also asked about cocktails since prices weren't listed on the menu (only happy hour pricing was shown). We were initially told drinks were around $11, later informed our Palomas were actually $9, which was a nice surprise--but it would be helpful if regular pricing was clearly displayed. Service was a bit inconsistent. It took a while for our waitress to initially greet us, and after our food arrived, we had to flag someone down for basic condiments (ketchup, mayo on the side, and tartar/remoulade for the crab cake). Our waitress did check on us once during the meal, but overall service felt a little stretched. Food came out very quickly once ordered, which we appreciated. However, attention to detail with plating could improve--for example, the tomato used in my sandwich was the end piece, which affected the overall quality of the sandwich presentation. Overall, I would consider coming back, but more for lunch or dinner rather than brunch. The atmosphere and location are nice, but the brunch experience and service consistency didn't fully meet expectations this visit. read more

i really wanted to love this place, i really did. but it just fell a little short for me. i'll start with the good. i loved the ambiance. this spot is located right on the marina. and just sitting outside looking at the boats is a nice little vibe. i also ordered the stony's orange crush which was super tasty. now, on to the food. the she crab soup was really good. full of crab. only thing i wish is that the base was a little thicker. i also ordered the fish tacos. the fish that day was flounder so i had it fried. the fish lacked flavor, and they most definitely could have been seasoned was better. not very impressed. and our server was nice, but he was soooooooooo slow. read more

This Thursday lunch was the second time in a row where the outdoor service was terribly slow. The first time no one came to our table after we were seated and after fifteen minutes, we left. Today we were entertaining out of town guests, so we stayed and eventually we were able to order. The happy hour menu says $5 house wines. I asked, "Do you have a house Sauvignon Blanc and she said. "Yes. Kim Crawford." So I excitedly said I'd like that only to find out that is not a happy hour wine and was $10 each when the bill came. But you know what? They graciously made it right. So I would recommend instead of asking, "Do you have a house...." Ask. "What are your happy hour wines.". My wedge salad with salmon was delicious! Salmon medium rare and tender and moist. Plenty of bacon. Although the dressing was liquidy, it was just fine on the salad. Tasted my son's fries and they were piping hot. Crispy. Delish. His Reuben was huge! Im going to start off saying the food was really good and large portions. The flies where overwhelming but I know that's not the restaurants fault. I'm giving this place one star because THERE WAS GLASS IN MY DRINK! There was a very sharp shard of glass in my drink that cut my tongue I got very lucky i didn't swallow it. I was bleeding a lot and the server said she's gonna go get her manager. The manager never came. I was expecting to not pay for something on our bill or atleast not pay for the glass drink but no. This place has a local feel where they know you by name. I'm sure it gets packed in the summer or during a good game. This was my first time, and the waiter was great at explaining the favs. I tried the fried shrimp and had zero complaints. Plenty of flavor and cooked well. I also tried the fish tacos. This is not a Mexican restaurant, it's more like a beach bar. So don't expect Mexican-style fish tacos. I'm not saying they were bad just setting expectations. Went here Saturday night around 9 pm, the weather felt nice outside so we were hoping we'd be able to sit outside and have some drinks, but they actually closed their outdoor seating early in the night so we had to be inside. We were sat at one of the two seat tables along the wall near the bar. Couldn't get an indoor patio table because they were all apparently reserved already, so we just went with what we could get. We went only for drinks since we had eaten else where prior. I ordered the strawberry daiquiri (6/10) very little alcohol really just tasted like juice mix. The cherry limeade crush (7/10) the flavor was good and I could taste a little alcohol. And also a Bushwacker (10/10) it was creamy, strong, and so so good. Def my favorite drink on the menu. Overall, the service was fine our waitress checked on us a decent amount of times I'd say. Next time I plan to actually try their food, but I've for sure added this place down to come back for drinks. There's other drinks I'd like to try on the menu, but I will def be returning for their Bushwacker. Total for 6 drinks came out to $77. My overall rate of experience : 7.5/10 read more

Let me start by saying: I walked into Stony's Dockside feeling like a stressed-out adult, and I walked out feeling like a seagull that just stole someone's french fry--victorious and oddly proud of myself. The vibe? Pure waterfront bliss. It's the kind of place where you half expect a dolphin to pop up and judge your drink choice (which it absolutely would approve of, by the way). The staff treated me like I'd been coming there every summer since 1998--even though this was my first time and I kept accidentally calling it "Stony's Dockyard" like I was boarding a ship. Now let's talk food. The crab cake.samdwich? So good I considered writing it a personal thank-you letter. The fries? Crispy enough to make me briefly question whether I should propose. The drinks? Let's just say after the second one, I was convinced I could parallel park a boat. Service was fast, friendly, and only mildly concerned when I said, "I'm ready for my transformation into a dockside legend." By the end of the meal, I was ready to move in. If they'd handed me a pillow, I'd be sleeping next to the deck like a happy barnacle. 10/10 would absolutely return, and next time I'm bringing more sunscreen, fewer responsibilities, and maybe a bib for the crab feast. read more

Absolutely recommend Stony's. Straight up fantastic seafood. The place is a vibe, bit of a pub with some tables about, but lots of bar stools. Seating by windows on the marina is really nice. Great staff there, really did a great job taking care of us. We got a couple appetizers and a sandwich to share, they even split the sandwich and plated each separately with fries and a pickle. Nice! Speaking of which, the flounder BLT excellent. Crab cake app was well done, so tasty and loads of crab. And the firecracker shrimp rocked! I went here for breakfast and dinner in one day. I had just moved to the area and spent a couple weeks dining at local spots around east beach. Lovely story about the owners (maybe not the part about being Penn State fans haha ... go Ducks!). The restaurant is like a small sports bar meets casual seafood dining. Service at Stonys tonight was great. However, we were fairly disappointed this evening over our final bill. The Salad section of the menu indicates you can add a meat addition with no monetary value assigned to each option, not even an MP next to crabcake. To be honest, we didn't bother to ask when we ordered as it's standard to have a scaled dollar amount next to each option on menus (chicken, shrimp, fish, crabcake). The Newport salad, which is a 14$ salad was accompanied by a 16$ crab cake charge. When we inquired, the waitress was very kind. We loved her, she doesn't make the menu or the prices and we tipped her accordingly. This unclear menu produced a near 30$ salad which, if I'd just ordered the 16$ crab cake appetizer and the 14$ salad, I'd have at least received house slaw and remoulade. It's disappointing to be upcharged for items due to an unclear menu. read more

I'll start with the good. Great view, nice people and food, when it was correct, was delicious. Onto the not so good. Sunday morning brunch and the place was stifling hot. Like no ac hot. Poached eggs were hard boiled and toast was burnt. Server quickly replaced these items. Food took 45 minutes to be delivered. Omelet was delicious as were biscuits and gravy. My wife and I decided to visit for a later dinner not far from where we're staying at the Little Creek amphibious space. Not far away, indeed. Seemed to be a nice local spot, a lot of people were leaving with their pizzas. We seated in the bar area. After ordering adult beverages, my wife decided on their Caesar salad while I decided on their seafood chowder and a crabcake sandwich. The seafood chowder was a huge bowl of deliciousness!! Service. I've found that 99% of the time, the service from the host sets the tone for the rest of the dining experience. Unfortunately, this visit started off on a very odd note. When I arrived, I wasn't greeted--just stared at, as if my arrival had interrupted her conversation. She then told me the estimated wait time (30-45 minutes) and emphasized, "My feelings won't be hurt if you don't want to wait." I assured her I was fine waiting, as I was excited to try this place for the first time, and she took my name. Before I could even turn to find a place to wait, she repeated the comment: "It's totally okay if you don't want to wait, you won't hurt my feelings." At that point, the overemphasis on leaving felt less like reassurance and more like a suggestion--so I took it as a sign that I should go. Ironically, about 15 minutes later, I got a call that my table was ready. But by then, I felt my first impression of the service had already set the tone, and I left disappointed. read more

In the past, we've overlooked slow service and inconsistent food because we enjoyed the atmosphere, bar staff, and location. Unfortunately, our most recent visit will be our last. I brought a group of coworkers for a mid-afternoon happy hour. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived, and we continued ordering drinks and appetizers whenever a server came by. As the group gradually left, three of us remained. At that point, the owner approached our table and spoke to us in a way that felt inappropriate and unprofessional, questioning how long we planned to stay and indicating there was a wait. This interaction made it clear that our presence--and our business--was no longer valued. Because of this experience, I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend this restaurant to others. read more

Waitstaff took Forever on a day where it was not busy at all. Way overpriced for the size of the portions, the Ahi tacos were $15 for 3 teeny tiny tacos smaller than the palm of my hand is long, they were also half full with the seaweed salad which was just stringy and nasty. Also got fish and chips, the fish was really soggy and fell apart so much I had to use my spoon to eat it, not crispy in any way. Really disappointed and def would not return . Great location on the water so you can see the boats on a pretty day. The service was also great. We had a 30 minute wait but it went by quickly. Both the waitress and the hostess were really kind. The reason for the 3.5/5 stars was the nachos. They were not good. Zero flavor and highly disappointing.
