Honestly though, it's been a long time since I received a substandard cut (uneven thinning in areas, cutting poorly against natural wave). I take full responsibility for cheaping out. There were some flags I ignored - she wanted to straighten my hair with a hot iron before cutting but then she said she could cut dry or I should get a shampoo. I've had my hair cut w/o a shampoo many times but they always spritz it wet before cutting. I commented on this but she claimed cutting it dry wasn't a problem for her. I was long overdue for a haircut, when I noticed the grand opening sign outside. I called ahead Saturday morning to make an appointment around noon. When I got there, I explained to Kelly that I wanted a trim and some long layers to help with the thickness of my hair and some split ends. After taking a look at my hair, Kelly suggested that we only do some light layering because I had really nice babylights done and too much layering would take away from the color and dimension. I really appreciated her suggestion, because I didn't even think of that! I wanted to keep my length and only wanted to cut about 2 inches off and Kelly did just that. I am so happy with the results and my hair feels so much lighter and healthier, without having to cut too much. Kelly took her time with my haircut to make sure it came out perfect! I made an appointment for a haircut for my friend and I one day before and was able to get a late afternoon appointment. The hair stylist was very detailed in cutting my hair and made sure to confirm with me during the haircut I was okay with the thickness and length. I asked for 2 inches cut off, to thin out my hair and a bang trim and she delivered all of that and added some layers to my hair. Overall I was happy with my haircut and how it has more movement now. The salon is currently having 20% services so that was also a nice plus. Make sure to tip based on the full price. She definitely deserves it! She's a one woman run business and does it all. Hair salon is located by apartment buildings still in construction so it may be easy to miss. Look out for the signage on the glass windows. read more

I started going to this salon a few months ago because I wanted to get a haircut in the neighborhood, and Kelly has been my go-to hairdresser ever since. Although the studio is a bit tucked away from the main street, it isn't that difficult to find. Kelly is not only kind and sweet, but she also genuinely wants the best for her customers. She's a joy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable throughout the haircut/hairstyling process. She always takes the time to ask about the kind of haircut or hairstyle you want and accommodates your needs perfectly. During the haircut she consistently checks in to make sure everything is to your liking, and if something isn't quite right, she'll happily make adjustments. I trust her suggestions and advice completely, and I look forward to every visit. Her place is nice, clean, and spacious. The price is reasonable too. It was only $22 for a haircut, and it included washing and shampooing my hair. The best way to make an appointment would be to call Kelly ahead of time, but if that's not possible she will gladly take walk-ins as well. Best Brazilian blowout I've had in years. I have really thick, coarse, wavy red hair that gets very frizzy and unmanageable her in the Bay Area. I have tried many salons around the bay and Kelly's Brazilian blowout treatment has been, by far, my best experience. She was thorough, used the perfect amount of product on my long hair and was gentle and meticulous with her technique. Her prices were also more than fair- a steal really, compared to other salons offering the same treatment. Most importantly, the blowout worked like a charm. After visiting other salons, I wash my hair once or twice after the treatment and my hair starts to feel big, frizzy and unruly again. Two months into Kelly's treatment, and my hair still looks beautifully relaxed and feels so much more manageable. I couldn't be happier. Friends and family keep complimenting me on how lovely it is to see me finally wearing my hair down. In regards to her professionalism: I was able to get an appointment with Kelly within a week because she squeezed me into her schedule. And she actually answered the phone when I called! I thoroughly enjoy Kelly's company and consider her a hidden gem on the southside of San Francisco. I even hesitate to share this review, as I would like to keep her all to myself.
