Moving from Florida to Massachusetts so I called Standard Van Lines in reference to moving my things. I was unaware they subcontract out the jobs. I ended up with ocean moving and storage. three men arrive at my house in an unmarked truck. The head guy delegated tasks to the two workers. Mind you I had very little stuff. A queen size bedroom set, electric fireplace, buffet board, small computer desk, a 7 ft Christmas tree, a step stool and an adult bike. I carefully packed my own things into 35 clear bins which had either a pink top or green top so they were easy to recognize. The supervisor or main guy was on his phone the entire 3 hours, he was on speakerphone and was speaking to a female, this was a personal conversation and didn't talk about work. They loaded the truck, I watched them take everything then signed the papers. All of items, unless it was furniture , were written on the form as " small bin, large bin, small box or large box". They had no contents listed on the form. my stuff arrives in MA, from a different truck and different drivers, they unload all my stuff into my living room except for the bedroom set which they reassembled as it was a platform bed. I had to dismantle the bed as they didn't use the support beams for the bed. There were also numerous bolt, nuts and washers left over. And then I go and start unpacking, I have milk glass and a lamp that is broken, my Christmas tree never made it nor did my step stool. Most importantly, some of my bins never made it either and those bins included all my pictures from before I was born to the present. They are the only pictures of my parents, my siblings, family, friends, events, my children etc. some of these people, especially my parents, are long since deceased . I was very upset, how can you loose stuff? I called ocean moving and storage and their response was just fill out a claim form... I replied great, but I want my stuff!!! How did you "lose it?" You either gave it to someone else or they stole it. The rep said no because your stuff never came off the truck. That's a blatant lie! My things were with other peoples things and it was a different truck that unloaded my things. I kindly asked them to call the other customers who's things were on that truck to see if they delivered it to the wrong person, she assured me she would and call me back, she never called back so I called again a week later and she stated no one had it!!! Well if no one had them then it was stolen! Again I was advised to just fill out a claim form . On the claim Form you need to put down the item number and description of items in the bin. On the form it stated it was either large bin, small bin, large box, or small box. How do I know which bin is missing if they're not marked? Then provide original receipts Alongside with receipts for the replacements and to take pictures of my broken item ( only 2 ) and sent in the claim form. I then sent a letter to them stating I was filing police reports in FL and MA for the loss/theft of my items. I got a very rude response saying you signed the paperwork. So I replied. Maybe I should have unloaded each and every box in front of the movers to figure out if stuff is broken or missing . I did tell them I will I will be filing a criminal complaint and will be requesting to join the class action law suit against them. May karma find them swiftly. Had these movers come yesterday and the overall moving experience was okay. The movers knew exactly what they were doing and handled all of my boxes and furniture with care. They were kind, moved slowly but they got the job done. One thing that brings their rating down is that you need to give them an exact number of boxes, furniture etc. and BE SPECIFIC! I was under the impression that I could ball park my items I was moving but found out that you can't do that, and when you underestimate your moving items you end up paying more $$$$. You are better off giving them more items when they quote you! They also do not accept checks or bank checks. They accept credit cards but it will be an additional fee off of the deposit needed, so I needed to take $$$$ out at the bank to give them cash. read more

Worst moving experience. They showed up 6 hours late. Took them two weeks to drive 300 miles. And no one answers the phone. If you have any questions, good luck, you won't be able to get ahold of anyone. read more

HORRIFIC NIGHMARE! BEWARE!!! I spent several weeks prior to our move on the phone multiple times with the sales manager Jessica Bar. She was very nice and worked with me to secure the date of pick up for Wednesday in CT, in hopes our stuff would get to NC by Friday. I called back weekly to make sure this would be our pick up date, although she said dispatch would confirm which of the 2 day widow of the week it would be. This was the week of Christmas and they call to say they can only come Thursday (which did not work as we were on a plane already that day). After arguing that I had been in touch with the office nearly a dozen times leading up, they finally came and did pick up on Wednesday. Here is where the nightmare began... 1- NEVER once did Jessica mention that our belongings DO NOT go from CT to NC. It was ONLY once the movers arrived that they explained, all your things go to the nearest warehouse (Boston) and get stored there until an 18 wheeler is available and they have additional drop offs ready in that direction! This took more than 2.5 weeks. Picked up on Wednesday Dec 27 and arrived January 15th 2018. 2- Out of the many many emails and phone calls with the sales manager Jessica, NEVER ONCE was I told it could take so long. I was made to believe it would come ASAP, weather depending of course, and reasonably so, but I was totally led to believe it would arrive Friday or Saturday. Jessica DID mention a max of 7 business days. The day after our stuff was picked up I received an email that stated 14 business days for 500-1000 mi traveled!! NEVER was this communicated prior to them taking out things. So my family, including my pregnant self, my husband, 2 yo son, and dog all camped out and slept on floors in a big empty house for nearly 3 weeks waiting for our things!! 3- Our estimate was for $4,000+ and when they arrived it was roughly $7,300!!! TOTALLY OFF! By now we had plane tickets booked and no choice, we were trapped to move forward with this company. 4- When the movers did pick up our belongings, they were nice, BUT they smelled like ashtrays! The blankets they wrapped all our furniture in smelled so disgusting that when they left and the house was empty, I had to open all windows (in 20 degree weather) and treat my entire house for the smells left behind! 5- I called several times for updates on when my things would arrive, it took days for customer service to call back. When they did, it was mid-week and I was told they had my things are on the next truck and that they were leaving Friday (also got confirmation email Friday at noon) and was told they work through the weekend and thus would be arriving in NC Saturday, no later than Sunday. Another LIE! I received no call from the driver until 4pm on Sunday saying sorry he would arrive Monday morning at 9am!! So where has my stuff been all this time???? My imagination could only wonder! When the driver (nice man Claudio) arrived he said he didn't even work Friday and he didn't come Sunday because he didn't have the 24hrs notice and it was too late in the day. 6- Monday morning 9:30am, still nothing, I call the driver and he says he is only 10miles away but that he has no movers to help him and he is scrambling to find help!! WHAT DID WE PAY FOR???? Our $7,000+ bill doesn't come with movers!!!! So the driver arrives with his wife (in pajamas and slippers) and sits outside waiting for help to arrive!! When they arrive he explains they don't work for the company, he pays them to help him move out of his earnings. So I hired a company that doesn't have movers but is a moving company?? eventually 2 men show up to help move, after a few minutes one is gone. The driver says, "I sent him home, too much trouble, ask too many questions." So 2 men emptied and set up the entire home. There is cracked furniture to my coffee table, dresser and cabinet. Very unprofessional moving company. Lack of information regarding timeline of move, took additional 7 days, extra $600.00 in "hidden" moving costs, lack of respect from dispatcher and very poor communication and customer service. I wish I could post no stars. I moved in October and am still waiting on getting paid for the dishes they broke. Then in good faith we used them again in June. Huge mistake. They took an entire day to load. Didn't hustle at all and took all the furniture completely apart telling me the guys on the delivery side would put it back together. They lost a large TV and a 175 gallon fish tank! Our fish having made a 3 day journey down to Texas had to live another week in buckets until they delivered the tank. They require cash before they start unloading so we had no way to hold back payment when they lost our stuff. Of course the guys unloading were not going to re-assemble the furniture. Not to mention the damage done to a chair and a mini fridge that I can't even put in a claim for as "I have already used that email address for the first claim". I was told I have to create a second email address just to place a claim. What a disaster. Now no one will answer the phone or email or live chat says just email! Do not use this company! read more

Horrible movers. They stole my jewelry, missing items, my things damaged, my couch torn, they did $650 worth of damage to the walls in my old apt that they said they'd fix, but have blown me off so now I'm losing most of my security deposit. I would give this ZERO stars if I could. My friend and I used this company to move ~550 miles. The company uses broker drivers that do not work for the company itself. The movers/drivers, though very nice, showed up 24 hours early. Due to work, nothing was ready to be loaded into the pod. We were told that the shipment was to go back to the warehouse and would be sent with other shipments going to similar locations. The company said it would notify us once the pod left on the truck. 12 days go buy and it was radio silence. It wasn't until my friend called on day 12 that we got an answer. 12 days of NO BED, NOTHING. The dispatcher/representative was rude, unprofessional, and wouldn't give straight answers. The estimated time was 2-14 days for delivery. Now, on day 16, the shipment finally arrived WITH NO 24 HOUR WARNING. The drivers were lost for over 30 minutes as well, but like I said, they're brokers, they don't work for the company. You have to pay via Money Order or cashiers check from the post office per their contract. It's been WELL over the allotted time estimate for the delivery and they still expect you to pay full price. They are completely unorganized, unprofessional, and rarely answer their phones. This company is impossible to underestimate. If you want professional service, look elsewhere. read more

BEWARE!!!!!! They lost my items worth $3000 and delivery man took the money first to unload households. They don't bother even after losing my stuff and never called back to locate the lost. Items. Company was fantastic made our move seamless! The complex we moved out of was struck by lightning almost two weeks ago and elevator is still down...they had to move everything down 3 flights of stairs and still were extremely pleasant on such a hot day! read more
