The restaurant is nice inside with ample seating, good prices and large portions. So if you are really hungry, with a limited budget, this is the place for you... However the portions were way to much for us and when we didn't want to take it with us due to traveling, the waiter exclaimed how much the veggies cost. ?? That's different !! Excellent food, service, and people. We were traveling for 2 weeks looking for good Chinese food. This was it! The food was delicious, fresh, and was a good quantity. And the service was wonderful. Elaine was so welcoming. We were also given free hot Chinese doughnuts as a dessert, and even though our kids spilled some water and got some of them wet, we were given a whole new plate of doughnuts without even asking. Amazing Food! Amazing Service! And huge portions! Found this place yelp, so decided to check it out.. we were doing a night stop at Cortez and felt tempted to eat some Chinese food.. We paid 30$ including tax and tip which was super value for the money.. We packed half our food home (We are Big eaters).. We ordered one Dinner combination in which we The Most AMAZING egg drop soup, chicken dumpling kinda thing, cheese wonton and a spring roll just as a starter.. Sesame chicken and egg fried rice as a main.. Along with which we ordered a tea and Shrimp lo-mein... The people serving were really nice.. Love the Place!!! read more

I've only been to ocean pearl once and from that one experience I can say with certainty I would never go again. I had a fairly simple order of egg drop soup, sweet and sour chicken, and fried rice. Let's start with the fried rice it was white and not really fried. I am pretty sure they added one packet of soy sauce to white rice and then reheated for a minute. It was blander than bland. Then I got to the chicken and it looked good but than tasted burnt. My guess they were frying in burnt oil and couldn't be bothered to change it. And to top it all off was the egg drop soup; one of the easiest things to make. First off it was more tofu than egg; tofu that was in giant strips instead of cubed. So it was impossible to get it on a spoon. To top it all off they even messed up the egg. Instead of beating it first and then adding it to the broth they just cracked eggs into it. Which meant most of the egg was bland bits of whites; followed by mucus like chunks of yolk. If a Chinese restaurant can't make egg drop soup correctly I don't want to know what else they are cutting corners on. read more

My husband and I have frequented the establishment and have always been quite please. We are not snooty or biased as when it comes to trying a new place so maybe that is why we have been able to truely enjoy the dinners served there. The staff is wonderful and will often remember the things you like best. We no longer visit the other two chinese places in the area due to our extreme satisfaction with Ocean Pearl. As I travel to the east coast soon I will miss the fine food from Ocean Pearl. My honest opinion= Ocean Pearl was more satisfying than any other Chinese place I've ever been to ( from the east to the west). I no longer visit Panda Express, it just doesn't match up anymore. read more

I used to love this place, and their food is good, but I had such a horrible experience with the customer service there, that I will NEVER support them again. This is sad for BOTH parties involved. I ordered food from Ocean Pearl for take out. I went in and paid, the guy who rang me up was SUPER nice. Later that night, I saw that I had a missed call from them. The next morning, I was checking my bank account and saw that they charged me $26 more than what my total was. I was not angry, because for one, they tried calling me, and two, mistakes happen. Not a big deal. So I called them after they opened, told them what had happened, and I guess they were confused? They seemed blown away that a man had checked me out. During the conversation, we decided that I would go in after work and get it settled. Next thing I know, they just hung up on me. Guess the conversation was over? Anyway, I got another call from them almost immediately, asking if I could take a screen shot of the transaction on my bank account. I agreed, of course. There's nothing wrong with them asking for proof first. So, I went in and was waiting in line. It's finally my turn at the counter when a man walks in behind me. NO JOKE, the girl LITERALLY looked over my head at the man behind me, and started checking him out first!! REALLY??? How rude can someone be?! I CANNOT believe that they did that! I've never had ANYONE ignore me in that way! So now, it's my turn, but I chose to keep my anger in. I showed the girl my screen shot, and then they brought up this guy and asked me if it was him that checked me out. Of course, he denied it!! Whatever, at this point I'm already pissed and just wanting my refund so that I can leave. THEN another lady working there starting chewing out the other girl in Chinese. Obviously, I have no idea what she was saying, but quickly found out when the girl that ingored me, told her "She has proof! What else am I supposed to do?!". The lady was pissed that I came in for a refund, I guess. She handed me cash, even though I paid with a card, and I got the EF out of there. NEVER again will I be back. I think that are new restaurant Ocean Pearl is very good. I like their food better than our other chinese restaurant's. I think the prices are very good and the food you is enough for two people to eat so I am glad that we have a good chinese restaurant to eat at and I think the food taste fresher so we will see how good they do. A new resturant opened in Cortez and I decided to try it.It was the first and last time I will ever come to such a resturant.The price was higher than Hunans and Hong Kong.We came in at diner time. I had the Lemon Chicken and notice how heavy the color was.I am pretty sure they used food dye.The sauce was very greasy and the batter was thick.My cousin tried the Chicken Lo Mein.The noodles weren't completly cook and was also greasy.The Lo Mein also didn't come with rice which I know that Hong Kong and Hunans give rice with.The portions were also smaller.There dinner wasn't so busy and it didn't seem like the staff took things very seriously.The kitchen was loud and seemed like they're arguing.The waitor was on the phone and not paying attention.At the back of the resturant is an ally.The ally was extreamly dirty.Flies were every where!Cigarattes were also all over the floor.I hope the chefs didn't smoke when they're cooking my food.I do not recommed this new resturant to anyone.Go elsewhere! read more
