This review is for the tiki bar at the hotel. The drinks are pretty decent and service is quick but one of our meals came very incomplete. The wedge salad came without utensils and the chicken that was supposed to be on it were missing. They did fix it but obviously that takes time. The fish tacos were pretty good but nothing I would come back specifically for. The fish was slightly dry which took away from it for me. I did enjoy the music though which created a nice vibe. read more

Overall, a comfortable weekend stay for an event! This hotel is well located, right by Pier Village with many cute shops and the boardwalk. There's a nice view of the ocean from the balcony rooms. Ample parking space is available. Unfortunately, the rooms are not particularly sound proof and even normal volume conversations in the hallway could be heard clearly from within our room. I just returned from a five-night stay at Ocean Place in Long Branch, NJ, and I'm incredibly disappointed. We stayed there for a dance event and opted for the hotel instead of an Airbnb for convenience. I had read the TripAdvisor reviews, which included quite a few negative comments about the staff and customer treatment, but having worked in the service industry myself, I understand that sometimes reviews don't tell the whole story, so we booked anyway. Well, I'm here to tell you the whole story. We arrived early and politely asked if our room was ready. We were very rudely told, "It clearly states that check-in is at 4 pm." Got it--we were just checking in case the room happened to be ready early, as sometimes happens at well-run properties. There was no reason for rudeness. At 4 pm, we got in a long line only to be told our room was still not ready. OK, I could've reminded them about the "clearly states check-in is at 4" line, but we didn't. We waited patiently. And waited. It seemed like nobody was getting their rooms on time, and we were told there were 19 people ahead of us. Wow. It's now 5 pm and there are still 19 ahead of us? Who's running this ship? Still, we didn't complain. They took our number. My wife was near tears, my kids were sweating in the hot and overcrowded lobby, and everyone was just waiting. After what seemed like forever, we were the last ones left in the lobby. I approached the desk again, intending to cancel at that point and book an Airbnb. Then I met Caterina, whose name I remembered from reviews I had read before booking. I expected a tough encounter, but she was magnificent. She apologized sincerely, empathized, and specifically said, "We are going to give you a 25% discount for your stay." I can't tell you how that changed things. In that instant, the hotel had regained a customer. They had made a mistake, but they were correcting it--awesome. A bit later, we checked again (they never called), and finally, the room was ready. We were the very last check-in from the lobby. I kept reassuring myself, "They're giving us 25% off, I'm good." I re-confirmed the 25% discount off for my entire stay and asked for the bill immediately to reflect it. Caterina said the manager was busy, but they would review it and call if there was an issue. Awesome, trust given. The stay itself was OK. Housekeeping didn't vacuum or mop our room, which isn't ideal for a beach hotel, but we didn't complain until our toilet stopped flushing. The water pressure was terrible for everyone on the upper floors, apparently. We had to wait nearly two hours, until almost midnight, for maintenance to arrive. The maintenance worker was extremely nice and apologized--but two hours? Again, I kept thinking, "They're giving us 25% off, I'm good." At checkout, I saw Caterina again and asked for the bill, reiterating that it should reflect 25% off the entire stay. She explained the manager would approve it, and that I would first receive an initial bill by email, followed shortly afterward by a second bill showing the full discount. Once again, I confirmed clearly that I was promised 25% off the entire bill, and she assured me that's exactly what I would receive. I left with every intention of writing a glowing review. Nope. The promised discount was not honored. I received only 25% off two of our five nights. When I escalated this issue to the manager, Jennifer, she didn't care that I had been promised something entirely different. She repeatedly called it a miscommunication, despite me confirming it at least four times during our stay and Caterina confirming it. Jennifer acknowledged that I had been promised something different but refused to honor it, continuing to refer to it merely as a miscommunication. That's not called a miscommunication Jennifer, that's called a lie. Jennifer also specifically told us that EVERYONE who wasn't able to check in at 4 pm received the same discount. However, I spoke with other guests who received the full gamut of different discounts, so it was NOT a universal offer to those who arrived to find their rooms not cleaned or ready. I've since found that others also hadn't received what they were promised. I'm done with this property. I'll be reaching out to everyone who was similarly treated, encouraging them to contact the event organizers so we can ensure this event is moved to a different venue in the future. read more

Recently attended a private birthday party for approx 40 people. It was held in a section of the main dining room. Food was just OK, and the service was well below what a resort like this should have. ( Not one server including the bartenders seemed to have resort experience IF any experience at all) Even if I walked in off the street I noticed they did not had a very good selection of spirits, beers or wines. The resort itself is very large with a wonderful lobby bar area. We did not see the hotel rooms. The outside tiki bar was packed & lively. They also had a DJ although he seemed a bit too loud if you wanted to talk at the bar. This resort has a private section of beach for it's guests and many, many amenities. Again, we were just there for a 4-5 hour party. They need a lot of improvement in this department. read more

She recommend the restaurants to eat and didn't steer me wrong. During the winter they close up their restaurant except for weekend but restaurant are in walking distance. If you want to wait 30 minutes for a drink, come to ocean hotel. There's 1 bar tender at each bar with 30+ guests. Trash all over the place!! No one cleans out one garbage can in the entire building. Hotel room has an inch of dust on the floor, I don't know if it's ever been cleaned. We paid over 1k for a room and barely had the service of a 2 star hotel. Disgusted beyond belief. We arrived at the hotel after paying extra for an ocean view and received a room that only looked out onto a concrete roof, there was zero sight of the shore or water. When the concern was brought up with the front desk, they said there was no other rooms they could move us too and also refused to refund us for the extra money paid. When we arrived in our room to get settled in we found that the air conditioning wasn't working, given it is summer and we have a dog this was unacceptable and dangerous for our dog to be inside a small stuffy room. The front desk said they would send someone to fix it but no one ever showed up. We then decided we no longer wanted to stay at this establishment and returned to the front desk they refused to refund any of our money so we were unable to leave unless we wanted to sink 1,600 down the drain. The person at the front desk told us that there was no manager on duty, but my mom called her out on it since she worked in the hotel industry for two decades and knew that there is always a manager on duty or on call. After that a manager miraculously was brought in from the back to help us, but all she said was that she couldn't do anything for us. Eventually they said they would move us to a new room after previously telling us that there were no rooms to move us to. The new room didn't have working air conditioning either but given the fact they refused to give us any refund or help we were forced to stay in it for the night. Long story short, do NOT stay at this hotel, trust me there are better ones in the area. If they would have refunded us we were going to go to a place down the street that had incredibly nice staff who were going to fit us in a room the day of if we had been able to get out of this nightmare hotel! The staff does not care about you and the hotel itself isn't worth the price. They won't offer any refund no matter what goes wrong and the whole thing feels like a scam... read more

The rooms are clean and kept up very well compared to the other Jersey shore salt water run down hotel standands. The pool is well kept and very nice. The food menu is basic but good. Room service is a nice feature, again the food is average but good. The Tiki bar bartenders that were on staff Friday, seemed very unhappy. This has been a common thing with our stays here. Even after tipping 25+ % to try and cheer them up, you don't even get a thank you. So weird. Saturday and Sunday bartenders were a little better, but still not there to make for laugh and feel good. That is to bad. We stayed in the pool and ocean view room. So the price was a bit more, but the room and view was wonderful. Rooms have a frige and coffee maker. Not K cup. 8/2024 This place was not worth the money. The rooms are out dated, USB chargers and plugs did not work, the sliding shades had holes in them and were obviously stained/dirty. The service was beyond disappointing (besides the front desk, they were GREAT!). Breakfast buffet was standard, but the waitress was rude/standoffish. Housekeeping forgot leftover food in the refrigerator from the previous occupant. Would not return. Additionally, the air conditioning stopped working in our room. The hotel switched us but before we could gather our belongings from the old room, they had already checked another guest into the room that we still occupied! That guest walked in on my fiancé shirtless. The hotel has been a pain to dispute this with and is only refunding nominal amounts even though the list of issues we had is excessive and not worth $700/night. Jay at the Tiki Bar was the man. Edit - 11/07/2024 After months of trying to reach a manager or high up, I spoke with the #2 of the hotel. He was less then sympathetic, and did not help us at all given the above circumstances. ZERO STARS, DO NOT RECOMMEND TO STAY OR BOOK WEDDING SERVICES THROUGH OCEAN PLACE RESORT & SPA Our stay at Ocean Place Resort & Spa was disappointing and unacceptable. All our guests, vendors, and ourselves were excited for the wedding weekend of August 24th , but it was plagued with several issues. Guests complained of sand-covered floors, and two fire alarms the night before and morning of the wedding created chaos. No clear communication was provided, leaving everyone confused and uncomfortable. The conflicting reasons given for the alarms--from a kitchen fire to no emergency--were distressing and scary. This disrupted my sleep and schedule, causing delays with my photo and video sessions. Our guest's safe was broken, causing them to miss most of the bonfire dinner we paid for. One of our guest were locked out of their bathroom, told to "use a coin" to open it next time. Room service left doors open, towels were never provided, and guests felt unsafe. My Wife's hair and makeup team was sent to the wrong room, and no water was provided as promised in the contract. My WIFE who was getting married that day had to retrieve bottles from the front desk herself, and staff never followed up. The artists were also upset by the fire alarm disruptions, causing further delays to our wedding schedule. At 2 am family members were frustrated when security was unavailable, leaving them locked out of a room that was required to set up for the wedding. There was also a room mix-up for our planner, despite confirming the correct setup in April. This issue wasn't resolved until late at night, adding more stress. Additionally, we have reached out to many upper management at Ocean place resort & spa about our frustrations and have yet to get a response from anyone. Advertising as a "resort" and a 4 star hotel and getting 1 star experience is an absolute shame. I can get better customer service and a better experience from a motel down the street. Overall, this experience was far below expectations, especially given the high room rates. We CAN NOT recommend any services provided by Ocean Place Resort & Spa and will be reaching out to the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, Local fire department, and Attorney Generals Office. A Master class in Poor Customer Service. Must Read!! On March 13th, I scheduled an Easter brunch for me and my family. A total of 10 people. It was confirmed and accepted with a reservation #. When I showed up. I waited to get seated. The Security Guard inquired why I was waiting and I explained I had a reservation for Brunch. He explained that the Seaview restaurant was booked for a private party. He asked me if I had a reservation, and I showed him the email. He proceeded to take me to the front desk, where he conveyed the situation. The front desk called the manager. When he came out, he introduced as Manny. I tried to explain the situation figuring he would want to understand it and why I was confused. He immediately told in a very abrupt and unsympathetic tone (borderline nasty) me that he couldn't seat me and my family and I had to leave. I asked him if he wanted to know why I was there and perplexed by the whole situation. He said in the same tone, "I don't care, we are booked and you need to leave." I responded with but my family, including my three kids were with me. My 74 year-old mom, my uncle and my sister and her family were coming. He said, "Too bad" now in a very nasty tone of voice. I said, "I preferred that you speaking to me in a different tone of voice." He said I was embarrassing my children and escalating the scene and asked security to escort me out. I said, "you're the one escalating this." So, I left with my children, and went to Buona Sera in Red Bank, who was able to seat us with no reservation or notice. I will never go the hotel again. I went to visit the Spa at the "Ocean Resort" to purchase a spa gift. We walked through the hotel lobby to the second floor. Spoke to the concierge at the Spa Desk and received a menu of massage therapies. We saw the entrance to the Spa waiting area and proceeded through to see the space. My husband got two glasses of water and came through to meet me. A minute or two later, we were approached by an employee, " Susan". We have travelled throughout the world, to many 4 and 5 star hotels and in addition, high end worldwide cruise ships . Never , in all the years of traveling have we been so poorly mistreated. "Susan" was nasty and told us to leave the space immediately. We looked at her in disbelief. We walked downstairs to the front desk to tell the staff and managing director, Manny ,about our shabby treatment. My husband and I have been very successful business people throughout our lifetime. We would never treat people like this disgusting person, Susan. I hope we never have the misfortune of seeing her again, ever. I expect her to be relieved of her position at the Ocean Resort. The Ocean Resort should maintain the highest of service on every level. We will be checking back to see if Susan has been reprimanded and let go of her position. The only downsides are that the gym is tiny, dark, and offers zero views (which is crazy considering the resort is right on the shore) and the drinks are expensive! Had a very nice weekend down the shore thanks to The Ocean Place and all of their great amenities. They had beach towels ready whenever we needed them. They also had private beach access with a service where comfy lounge chairs and beach umbrellas are set up for you. So convenient, makes going to the beach sooo easy and relaxing! They also had a big outdoor bar and a bunch of nice areas to sit and hang out. Adirondack chairs on the lawn/sand area, outdoor patio seating, and benches around the fire pit. The room was nice and clean. Beds were comfy. Water bottles and a Keurig machine in the room. Great views from the balcony! The location is perfect. The hotel is right on the boardwalk and next to Pier Village with tons of places to eat. All walking distance. I had great experiences with the staff. Very accommodating and they try their best to upgrade your room if there are any better rooms available! They really want everyone to have the best experience possible as they are in the process of renovating all of the rooms. read more

I'm a local resident and I go to the Spa several times a year. My most recent visit was a disaster. I had invited my sister from NY to a fun spa day-- massage and lunch. About half way through the service, the fire alarms sounded. Of course, we started to return to the locker room, quickly dress and exit the building. As we were changing, we were told it was a test. So we change back to spa robes and go back to our "relaxing" massages. A few minutes later, it happens again! The fire alarms go off, but there's an announcement that it's a test. Then, yes, one more time, alarms go off during the massage. I told my masseuse I could not relax and ended my service. My sister finished her massage. I could not believe that the Spa would not compensate us better. They gave my sister a "discount" on the full price and charged me for 1/2 hour-which they had already charged my credit card for when I booked the appointment. When we had arrived at the Spa, we preordered lunch for 12:30. We dressed and went to the area for lunch where the acting spa manager told us it would be 1/2 hour for lunch. We waited 45 minutes. When the lunch was delivered, there were no plates, no utensils, no napkins-- absolutely unacceptable. The server acted like he was doing us a huge favor by getting us forks to eat and had the nerve to add a 20% tip onto the check. The day was terrible and I felt so bad that my sister was subjected to an awful experience. I stopped at the front desk to get the name of a supervisor. I merely wanted to tell them about the awful day and let them know they should do better. I emailed M.Melena (the card I was given at the front desk)twice asking for a phone call about my recent spa experience and never heard back. Just had a girls spa weekend get-away here. First the spa: overall, pretty good. Treatments were done well, and the lounge area overlooking the ocean was very comfortable. However, in the dressing room, you are on your own - Lockers are way too small, many had broken locks, you had to look around in empty ones to find footwear in your size. While the robes were adequate, there were no products, lotions, etc out for use or for sale. So, ocean view and treatments were good, but the additional service you'd expect from a high end spa was minimal. Now the hotel: staff is limited and all seemed a bit entry-level in terms of experience. Attempts to reach the front desk by phone before check-in and during our stay were hit or miss. Again, staffing seemed minimal. We stayed in an "enhanced" aka renovated suite facing the ocean on a high floor which was perfectly nice. King bed was very comfortable. But, there was no room service for coffee, meals, etc. After a nice dinner out we returned to the hotel bar to find it closed at 9:30 pm on a Saturday! We did not eat at the hotel so I cannot comment on that aspect. So, the accommodations themselves were fine, but the service was just not great. This hotel is in a wonderful location with very few similar options available nearby. If they could find a way to add more staff to increase the service level that would certainly help. Sadly, as-is, I would not recommend this hotel to others without very carefully managing expectations first. read more

I just returned to Florida after 2 nights at Ocean Place at $350 per night. Prior to my arrival, I read many poor reviews which were concerning. I called the hotel and spoke at length with Nielah, a front desk manager, and was assured my clean room would be in a quiet location and have hot water & air conditioning. We also discussed the removal of the $45 daily resort fee which covers parking, use of the indoor pool and hot tub (now working), wifi and 2 bottles of water daily. My husband and I were in Long Branch for a wedding and would only be in the hotel room to sleep AND had NO car. Wifi and water is complementary in every hotel I have stayed in. She provided her cell phone # and email address and assured me she would be onsite when I checked in to handle the resort fee since it was not possible to do so in advance. Upon check in, she was not on site because she QUIT a week before my arrival. Eventually, I spoke to Manuel Melena, Director of Rooms, who I was told worked at Ocean Place for a month. Not only was he not interested in my conversation with Nielah, who had worked there 4 months and was part of the "new culture" to improve the property, he was rude and dismissive. He told me unless I had written proof of the conversation, he was not going to honor the removal of the resort fee. This was confirmation of online reviews which said management was disinterested in guest satisfaction. He said he was aware of the reviews. I told him my only recourse was to post a negative review of the property. He then accused me of threatening him. I also told him the 2 daily water bottles were not in the room. We were headed out for a walk, so I asked him to send the water up to the room. The water was NOT there when we returned. I discovered old blood spots stains on one of the pillow cases and on the underside of the duvet cover the next morning and called Housekeeping to replace the linens. Also tile in the bathroom was broken. The hotel is very basic and was quite empty. I would NOT stay there again. Instead, try The Wave or the Bungalow Hotel for a more upscale, caring experience. read more

Overpriced, poor service, and over all poor product. This place has a great location and no other hotels are near the water so they get business by default unfortunately. This place is expensive for no other reason than it is a monopoly. If possible just go to another beach. And that is unfortunate because i do like Long Branch. The pools here were never stocked with towels on my 3 day trip. It was always very dirty as well. Everything about this place is sub par. Almost the entire staff here i found rude (our cleaning lady was very nice so she was the exception.) it always took 15-25 min to get a drink at a bar, security always seemed to ask if i was wearing a bracelet, and overall the staff was very slow. When i stepped up to the desk to the buffet the girl was sleeping! This "resort" just felt very poorly run and is extremely over priced. I felt they could care less about their customers. And it was just very dirty in general. It isn't worth the money. Also if you are under 35 this place is for an older crowd. Prepare yourself for A LOT of kids. You will be surrounded by kids at all pools. And the room walls are paper thin so you wake up to crying and screaming. I know this review sounds like I'm exaggerating but this place really is this awful. If they offered me a free weekend here i would not go. Stay away. read more

For the amount of money spent, room service food was unseasoned and lukewarm. Drink was horrible & the noise level from the balcony was ridiculously high, ruining the ocean view. I went inside, watched out of the closed sliding glass door and listened to an ocean waves soundtrack on Spotify! The walls are so thin that I had to listen to a family with a screaming toddler next door that sounded as if they were in my room, and every time a door opened or closed in the hallway, it was apparent and loud. I came to relax and view the ocean and that didn't happen (no room luxury robe even???). This is NOT a luxury facility despite the luxury price. I will not be back! read more
