I hate to even give one star. We visited this hotel in January for a wedding reception for our daughter. We thought all was okay. I reached out to meet with them in March to go over some things and was bothered that we had no written agreement. My questions were answered, left thinking everything was fine. The next day I receive an email not even the decency of a phone call to inform us the wedding reception is not in line with the hotel whatever that means and they canceled the reservation for September, 5 months before the wedding. Needless to say they are very dishonest, the reason they gave doesn't hold up. We had spoken at length with the chef about meals, music, dancing area and was now told the reason was, they don't do that kind of reception! We also knew of noise restrictions for Ocean Grove and booked DJ accordingly. My personal feeling is they booked the entire hotel for 3 days including the day we reserved. We booked the entire hotel and this boils down to they got a better offer with more money for full booking. After receiving this email I went on the hotel booking site and saw all three days blocked which is not what we reserved. We had reserved the whole hotel for Saturday, When I questioned this I was told they had blocked the 3 days for us. Not true, we never asked for that. My advice, stay away or get in writing from very beginning so you can take legal recourse if this happens to you. We are left scrambling to find a venue. On a side note I went on their site this morning, that weekend is still blocked and we were already canceled so that speaks for itself! A year ago, on the weekend of August 4th, My husband and I had reserved a room at this hotel for our 22nd wedding anniversary, specifically requesting a corner room with an ocean view. This aspect was crucial to us, as we planned to spend most of our stay in the room, enjoying the view. However, upon arrival, we were both surprised and deeply disappointed to find that our room faced the opposite direction, overlooking a backstreet instead of the ocean. We spoke with the manager, Teresa, at the time, who had previously confirmed our reservation over the phone. She too seemed surprised by the mix-up but was unsure why our reserved room was unavailable. After sometime spent in the alternative room, awaiting resolution, we were informed by the manager that due to the misunderstanding, we would be granted our originally requested room on a future stay. Additionally, we received a bottle of champagne as an apology for the inconvenience. Needless to say, the situation left us quite unhappy. Fast forward 8 months later, i wrote to inquire whether the offer to honor our original room request in the future still applied, as we had not received any written confirmation or follow up call regarding this matter. We then received a letter stating that the manager had moved on to another location & that they had no record of our situation. Although this hotel is cute and I'm sure we could have had a sweet stay, I am extremely disappointed on their lack of service and accountability. Specially when having so many other beautiful hotels in the area to pick from .. BTW... When it was time to check out, there was NO ONE AROUND!!! And I mean NO ONE! It was a complete joke!!! If you want to avoid being ripped off, I highly recommend that you avoid holding your party, reception, or any other celebration at the Majestic Hotel in Ocean Grove, New Jersey: It is just not worth having your heart broken and taking a major hit to your bank account. I don't want to see anyone else suffer the way we did: My husband (a US Army veteran) and I held our 10th wedding anniversary party at the Majestic Hotel in Ocean Grove, NJ. The hotel had been under different management when we were married there in 2014. In February 2024 we put down a deposit of $1706.00 to hold the room. No contract was signed; they took our check and put us in the book to reserve the room. Emails were exchanged prior to the party regarding food and decor. I guess I was too trusting. The party was held in September 2024. When I was given the bill for the food, gratuity, and taxes - $1912.43 - I expected the deposit to be deducted. I was informed that the $1706.00 was to close the restaurant for the private event for four hours and to "help cover the 'lost revenue' that we incur when the space cannot be open to the public/hotel." I have been charged twice for the room because it was not empty for the four hours, as I was charged for my 36 guests. It was also the weekend after Labor Day - "Local Summer" to the people at the Shore - so how much business would they have done that day anyway? After the party, I was sent a copy of a signed contract, but it is not my signature, and my name is misspelled in one place on the contract; I would have corrected that misspelling as I am a former teacher of English! This may or may not be illegal, but it certainly appears to be unethical. I have arranged luncheons and events at other venues throughout Monmouth County, and the deposit was always deducted from the final cost of the event. I feel that I should be refunded my $1706.00. When I spoke to one of the owners, I was offered a "free" night at the hotel; this is unacceptable. I would hate to see others defrauded by these greedy businessmen. Since "forewarned is forearmed," save yourselves the headache of doing business at this establishment, and go somewhere else where a deposit is a true deposit towards the final cost; we are lucky that there are plenty of other beautiful places to hold parties at the Jersey Shore. read more

Stayed here for a couple of nights with my husband and I had not been here since all the renovations so I was pleasantly surprised. They have really updated and made such great use of the lobby/lounge area. The complimentary continental breakfast was perfect for a light breakfast with fresh cut and whole fruit, hard boiled eggs, granolas, yogurts, bagels, coffees, etc. Each staff member I came across was professional and so friendly and made us feel so welcomed. We stayed in one of the contemporary rooms and the bed was so comfortable, had a small balcony area and a mini fridge as well even though cold/hot water was readily available in the lobby 24/7. We had plans for dinners both nights but we were lucky enough to be able to try out their dining room located behind the lobby/lounge area. Jill, our server, was so nice and everything was made to order. My husband had the crab cake eggs Benedict and he cleaned off his plate which is a huge compliment because it is one of his favorite breakfast dishes but only when done right. I had the eggs and beet hash which had nice large chunks of roasted veggies and 2 eggs which I requested sunny side up. Next time, I do hope to try their lunch and dinner menu because their menu looked delicious. They do take reservations. We were up early Saturday and were able to walk-in without a reservations thankfully. So glad we didn't go down the street for breakfast because Dining at Majestic exceeded our expectations. Our whole time at Majestic hotel was fabulous and, although, I have been a patron since 2021, I cannot say enough good things about all the classy vintage updates they have made so far while still keeping the antique, beachside vibes. I booked the Majestic to host my wedding party the weekend of my wedding. We ended up renting every room and the staff (especially Cathy), were absolutely amazing. They let us use the common spaces when needed, which was huge! The rooms are all unique and beautiful. There are so many different areas within the hotel for stunning photo ops. My favorite was the balcony directly outside the room my now-husband and I booked. It connected to another room and spanned almost the entire front of the hotel with a view of the ocean only 2 blocks away. We took a lot of our wedding photos here because of how beautiful and perfect it was. As I mentioned, Cathy was an absolute angel. She went above and beyond every single second. She was constantly on her feet helping us in some way - acting like another member of the bridal party, making sure we weren't hungry, thirsty, or needed anything else, without being overbearing at all. Even right before checkout, she offered to make me gluten free avocado toast because I told her that was my favorite breakfast. She was on top of it. She was also so attentive and communicative leading up to the day, including before we even booked the rooms! She let us tour before we committed, then followed up quickly with any questions before and after booking. She really blew my mind and she was just the cherry on top because everything else about the Majestic is so worth it. read more

I knocked off two stars for two reasons - the salmon portion was very small, and it only came with 5 very thin asparagus spears and 8 tiny potatoes. FEED ME. This is supposed to be a dinner entree. For $31 can you give me more food please? How about a small salad? Or a basket of bread for the table? I left your establishment feeling hungry. I'm also not sure what sauce you included with the salmon, but it seemed not very complimentary. The tamarind shrimp app was tasty. For your prices though I won't be back. read more

Spent a long weekend at the Majestic. Our room on the 2nd floor was great, and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was scaled down due to Covid, but everything was fresh and we were happy to have a small meal to start the day. Coffee was very good too. My boyfriend planned an extended Birthday weekend for me at the Majestic from Thursday to Sunday. Upon check-in, we were very warmly greeted by Dawn.  She immediately made us feel welcome and at home.  She is so knowledgeable of the area, full of information & tips,  a true foodie like us.  We learned that every morning a complimentary breakfast was included which was a lovely touch, as nothing comes free these days.  The porch is magnificent with rocking chairs, country music and a killer view of the ocean.  Additionally there are balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floor which also provide incredible views of the Sunset (another tip from Dawn & Patti) The hotel is conveniently a 2 minute walk from the beach and an 8 minute walk from Asbury Park Boardwalk. It's clean and its quiet.  Beach towels are offered in addition to discounted beach passes. Also, kudos to the rest of the staff ;  Josh. Patti and Emily, I've never encountered a more hospitable staff. Can't wait to book our next trip !! read more

When we first started staying here 15 years ago it was worthy of the name. Sad at how run down it has become. Room was dirty with caked on dust along the ceiling fan blades, blinds, window sill and bathroom light fixture. Shower tiles had mold in the corners and around drain. The plastic stripping around the shower door was hanging and rubbed against your leg while showering. The mattress in Room 5 was horrible - do not book this room if you want a comfy bed. There were visible indents and a raised area down the center. While sitting on the side of the bed I could feel the box spring underneath and I'm not a large person. All the upper outdoor decks were closed because they were unsafe to use. The Majestic was once the nicest B&B in OG, but sadly has become low end. read more

As I'm sitting at my computer checking my schedule and coordinating yet another visit to this charming venue, I realized I've never reviewed it on Yelp! So let's rectify that! This b&b is absolutely charming! One block from the ocean and one block from the cutest little shops you can imagine, its location is perfect for everyone regardless of age or interest. The staff is friendly and helpful- lots of suggestions for transportation, site seeing, local restaurants and activities. Rooms are spacious and homey. Each has a microwave and refrigerator. The beds are ridiculously comfortable. Flat screen TVs and mini split heating and a/c units give it the modern touch while carefully curated furnishings give it that Victorian feel. Continental breakfast is served in style, and the recently renewed sitting area is complete with the green velveteen couches every woman dreams of retiring to in their dotage! A wrap around porch makes lazy days of reading super-indulgent. Parking off season is easy, but in-season, it can be a nightmare- but it's ok! The neighborhood is extremely walkable- ATM, Dunkin, gift shops, a church, the beach itself- all of it is in walking distance. No need to move the car at all once it's parked! And the walk into nearby Asbury Park and its iconic boardwalk takes less than 15 minutes of low impact beach walking. Absolutely adore this place regardless of the season, and I highly recommend it! read more

We were booked into The Majestic through Travel Rewards. We simply asked for something close to Asbury Park. We'd spent a few days in Manhattan, and were looking for somewhere quiet to decompress after the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. The Majestic was a great choice, but there are a few improvements that can be made. Reserved parking for guests would be nice. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Sunday, and the nearest parking spot we found was nearly a mile away. We opted to do a little shopping to allow time for the beach-going crowd to dissipate. By the time we returned, there was ample parking. The room was, for the most part, clean. The bathroom wasn't "dirty" but it could have used a cleaning. Perhaps a new shower liner, and a more thorough cleaning of the tile in the bathtub. The Majestic is very close to the beach, literally a stone's throw. In the morning, my fiancé and I enjoyed an evening stroll along the boardwalk, then ventured up to Asbury Park after a good night's rest. The difference between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning was like night and day, and it offered a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the sights along the boardwalk. Continental breakfast was as good as expected, although the apples were a little mushy, with the least mushy of them being somewhat badly bruised. As for the staff, we only dealt with Bob, who answered when we asked about parking when we first arrived, then greeted us at the front desk. He was quite helpful, even offering to assist with the heavier of our bags, which was appreciated. Found out that management was aware of the broken lock, but booked us in the room anyway. Then asked us to set up the air mattress. WHAT?!?! Managers were nice, but not helpful. "Majestic" Hotel? Not, realy; this place does not live up to its name. When we arrived for a 3 pm check in, the place was locked up. We called the, I assume owner, and she told us a person arrives at 3 during the check-in time (which I found bizarre that there isn't someone there at all times). The room was gross with filthy carpet, damaged walls with chipped paint all over and a bed that was, well, less than desirable to sleep on. And that is if you COULD sleep! We heard the upstairs guests walking on the creaking/squeekin floors all night as well as each time they flushed the toilet. I am not blaming the folks upstairs, but the realy shabby construction. The next day, I asked the woman at the desk if I could get my receipt and she replied with "someone will email it to you, I dont know how to print it". How hard is it to print a hotel receipt??? I booked last minute and was getting in late -- they made everything easy for me. Called in advance to confirm, someone was there when I arrived, they gave me great recommendations for where to go and how to get there. Beautiful location by the boardwalk, easy walking distance to Asbury Park. They upgraded my room -- I loved the decor and the overall feel of the place, very comfortable, slept great, clean. I'm only giving this place 2 stars because of the location. Other than that, I will never stay here again. I booked a getaway for my husband and I after a summer filled with working on our house, and not much else. As soon as I walked into the lobby, I was immediately disappointed. No one was there to greet us, it was about 1pm on a Friday afternoon. Then, a young kid, about 25, with dark hair, about 25, came by to check us in, with a HUGE attitude! He was rude and very condescending. My mood quickly shifted from delightful, to ... Well, angry. We get to our room, it was a newer room, nice, but small and very dirty! There was a thick later of dust on the ceiling fan above our bed, and hair and dust on all of the baseboards in the room. I took pictures, that's how appalled I was. The Wi-Fi didn't work, and the people in the room next to us had a very squeaky bed, and the walks are very thin....you can do the math. Save yourself 300.00 during peak season, and stay somewhere else. We are going to the Seaspray next year! Oh, the continental breakfast was nice. read more

I had a wedding this past spring in Asbury Park and this was the BEST B&B in Ocean Grove, and I checked them ALL out! Valerie was fantastic, very accommodating and helpful throughout our whole planning process and the weekend of. All of our guests who stayed there enjoyed and were very comfortable. It's such a beautiful hotel and the location couldn't be better. The only reason for the four stars instead of five is because our guest goodie bags were never distributed to our guests staying at the hotel. Reflecting back, their was a gentleman who lacked care for the clients. Although, Valerie's care was exceptional, the gentleman was not. An example, when arriving to check in with my date, the gentleman purposefully slowly walked away from his laptop to greet us. His mannerism appeared insincere & awkward. Besides that the remaining stay was very pleasant. The location is nestled in wonderful community. The hotel has a very warm & safe atmosphere and the first thought that I had of the place, I shared with Valerie was, "You guys put a lot of love into this place, thank you! Pluses : + The hotel has a great location in Ocean Grove, + the breakfast was quite nice and the view off the porch was lovely + the linens and soap were very high quality, + the staff was polite, plus they were generous to provide free bottled water. Minus: - They were one of the few hotels who would allow us to stay one night (we don't like to leave our greyhound more than a night if possible) so we knew we were overpaying but $285 for a room that SMALL feels high. Room #7 - We sold this to ourselves as a deluxe experience but when we turned the bedding over before leaving, to make sure we left nothing in the bed, there was a nasty, but washed out, stain on the duvet where ones feet would be. I share this because housekeeping was clearly aware of this but was instructed to use the bedding-the room was immaculate otherwise. It was petty to be deluxe but not and sort of disappointing--what other cut corners did we miss?? It was a good experience but not a stellar one. If you go in with that expectation, you will not be disappointed and will probably have a good time. read more

I stayed at the Majestic Hotel during Christmas weekend with my boyfriend and we had a pleasant stay. The place was really cozy, and the owner was nice. They had a Continental breakfast for us every morning and the newspaper. The only thing I didn't like was that the bed frame did not fit the bed so you had to watch out for the mental frame. My boyfriend and I both hit the frame at least once each and the bed was a little too soft. After two days my back started to hurt. Otherwise, really great place and highly recommended! read more

I had some issues with this place. First, the room was super tiny. Second, the wifi didn't work. Third, water kept falling on our heads from the ceiling. Fourth, there is a restaurant in the lobby (which is very good) that takes up most of the attention of the service people during the day. Fifth, there was no parking. Besides that, a great hotel! Warning: This place is deceptive and rude! We booked the Penthouse Suite for a birthday celebration. The cost is $400 a night. First off, the room is described as having a private balcony. The photos associated with the room show two pictures of two different balconies -- one with a partial ocean view and one with a view of the town. It struck us as odd, so we called about it and good thing we did! When we called the person we spoke to was very rude, and said that he doesn't know what the view is like from that room. What?? You don't know what the view is like from the most expensive room in the hotel? Wow. He then abruptly said that he would call me back the next morning to go over the pictures. Of course he never did. So I called him back the next day and he was curt and rude again and said that he had to ask the owner about the view. I asked him if he was in the hotel, and he said he was, so I asked why he does not just go up and look at the view. He again said he would call me right back. Five hours later my phone rang and it was Prince Charming once again telling me that he doesn't know how I booked the Penthouse when the hotel was sold out for a wedding that weekend. I explained that the room was available on both the hotel website and Expedia. He then replied curtly, "Well it shouldn't have been." In the end, he said that I will just have to call Expedia and cancel. And I did. And I am so very glad I did!!! I would never stay in a hotel that deceives its customers and is so very rude about it. If we hadn't called, we would have shown up on my birthday and had no room!!! Here's the thing. If you want to stay at a hotel that is represented by a curt and condescending man who will tell you to cancel your reservation at your own peril of losing money because he could not figure out how to block the room either on his website or Expedia, and if you want to stay at a hotel that takes no responsibility for deceiving pictures on their website showing balcony views that do not exist, then this is the place to stay. We arrived into the comforting arms of The Majestic Hotel on a rainy Saturday holiday weekend after a disastrous start at a VRBO Cape May rental the night before. Dawn, the Hotel manager answered my call as I looked for alternatives so we could check out of the truly dirty accommodations we were in. It was all uphill from there. She had one last minute cancellation ( the top floor penthouse) available that she significantly reduced in rate and had it ready for our arrival before noon. It was lovely, immaculate, and well supplied with kitchen supplies, WiFi, 2 tv's , etc.. Dawn encouraged us to come downstairs at 3:30 to the front room and share in the wine and cheese platters ( which was more like a true antipasto to our surprise and delight) that the Majestic provided and meet some of the other guests. This ended up being one of the most endearing, "magical" weekends we have spent ever!! Dawn and Vincent ( her assistant ) facilitated a two day gathering of hotel guests hunkered down in this seaside Victorian during a Memorial Day storm that felt as warm and familiar as a family home. The owners of the hotel recognized the specialness of this and were generous with providing refreshments and allowing us to basically make ourselves completely at home. My husband and I will always love the Majestic Hotel because it gave us wonderful shelter and a forever memory on a weekend that could easily have been a disappointment. Loved the place and will definitely return. Hotel didnt smell musty or moldy....definite plus. Staff was great! Can't really comment on the continental breakfast because we didn't try it, but unnoticed people going for seconds and thirds. We stayed in both 12 and 15. 12: newly updated/new construction, clean and quiet. Only complaint was the hotel next door kept the outside lights on all night. I would recommend room darkening shades. 15: outdated but cozy. In the am we noticed water beneath the air conditioning unit, but it was on full blast all night.....not sure if that makes a difference. FYI, beach in Ocean Grove doesn't open until 12:30pm on Sunday and its a dry town. read more

I had my wedding at the Majestic this past weekend and it was so special and magical and the staff made my day so easy and perfect. I would give 6 stars if I could. When I first started looking for wedding venues, I was really discouraged because I thought we would never find a place to hold our 65 guests at a price we could afford. While I had found the love of my life, I was disappointed because I felt like we wouldn't be able to celebrate our wedding in a way that felt special. Luckily, we found The Majestic because my sister-in-law had her bridal shower there 6 years ago and we ended up having the best day of our lives. I really can't say enough good things about this beautiful, cozy and comfortable place! There were a million little special touches that the staff added without me even asking that all added up to the perfect day. For example, a printed menu with our names on it, bringing up extra mirrors to the penthouse so the bridesmaids could all get ready, running out for extra beer so we could keep the party going. All of my guests had a great time and some are so impressed with the venue that they are planning to come back and vacation at The Majestic even though they had never been to Ocean Grove before. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS and the prices were by far the most reasonable we found anywhere. We were able to have everything we dreamed of and stay within our budget. Bob, the owner, ran around to get things done and make sure our day was perfect. He and his staff, Christina and Natalie, were accommodating and friendly to the point that we felt like we were being treated like family. Not only did they meet our needs but they went above and beyond and anticipated needs we didn't even know we had! We had the wedding on the lawn, the cocktail hour on the patio and in the lobby, dinner in the dining room and then an awesome dance floor back in the lobby. Our guests rented out the whole place so we were able to keep the party going in the penthouse later. It was so perfect for all of our family to spend time together for the whole weekend and we will be returning to The Majestic for every life event and beach vacation in the future. read more

My wife surprised me for my 50th birthday weekend. I couldn't imagine it being anywhere but Ocean Grove and The Majestic was the icing on the cake! LOVE THIS B & B!!!!!! The rooms are very clean and attractive. They are not very large....but it doesn't matter.....they are quite comfortable. But the most outstanding thing about this hotel is the service. The owner is so very accommodating. We enjoyed having breakfast in bed.....then walking just down the block to the beach. We went during the winter so activities are somewhat limited in comparison to going in the summer months.....but we loved the quiet. Stayed here for a few days. Close to the beach and town. Very clean modern rooms. Even had a hairdryer. Loved that! Wish you could sit on the front porch but because of their restaurant the only porches were up a level. The continental breakfast was mundane. No home cooked breads or pastries. Not at all enticing. While the staff was accommodating, they were for the most part absent. The young lady at the desk was very sweet and helpful. A friendlier smiling manager would have been nice. Most of the time he appeared overwhelmed. Although kudos to him for carrying my bag from my car about 6 blocks away to the hotel. All of that said, I would stay there again. I don't understand all the good reviews. We stayed in room 11 (2 queen beds) and were totally underwhelmed, esp. for the price. It is an old, tired room. Beds don't match, kitchette is cheaply done with white laminate cabinets that don't line up and formica counter. No sitting area. Decor is non-existent...there is nothing charming or appealing about the room. Breakfast was a meagre offering of cold cereal, packaged bagels or waffles, store bought cake/croissants, yogurt, fruit and hard boiled eggs. I've been in low end hotels that offered more. The main entrance is unwelcoming. It is a beautiful house and has so much potential, but does not live up to it's potential at all. We won't return. read more
