One of the best pedicures I've ever had! Ocean Spa is a large, beautiful, and very clean salon with amazing new massage chairs that instantly make you feel relaxed. I had the fresh citrus pedicure, which was such a treat--real oranges in the water and on my legs, a citrus fizzy bath bomb, hot stone massage, citrus scrub, and a lotion massage. There was also a warm steamer on my feet for most of the experience, which made it extra relaxing. I also had my eyebrows waxed, and they look so much better. Diana was wonderful--very personable and constantly checked in to make sure I was comfortable. I truly enjoyed my pedicure and overall experience. Rainy day and needed a little pick me up. I went to a Whole Foods and saw Ocean Spa and decided to get my nails done. I met with Tia and she did a great job. I explained to her that the last couple of salons I went to I was unhappy with the product, because it seemed like the gel was really thin or the dip was extremely thick and looked like bubbles on my nails. She showed me the gel builder that had collagen and vitamin E, so it is much better for your cuticles. I went ahead and tried it and this is the first time I have been happy in a year with a tech! I don't get fancy designs, but I do like my nails to look well manicured and not sloppy. Tia did a fantastic job and she is a total sweetheart. She didn't rush and was meticulous. This used to be my favorite place for a pedicure, but I don't think I'll be coming back again after this experience. My mother and I both came in for a pedicure and decided to pay for the upgrade for the extra leg massage and gel polish. Unfortunately, there is a HUGE difference in techs. Mine rushed through it, was constantly up doing other things ...leaving me to sit there with my feet out. My upgraded pedicure with leg massage and hot stones was somehow done in 35 minutes...that's a LOT of money to pay for a rushed and half-attended pedicure. I'm usually in the chair for close to an hour. My mother was treated well, she received a long massage...her tech didn't get up and wander around doing little tasks. He stayed and was attentive and gave her a good service. I'm not sure why sitting right next to each other for the same service ...hers was a solid 20 minutes longer than mine. I'm STILL waiting for her to finish while writing this. Ridiculous. If you do get a pedicure here...pay for ONLY the cheapest service, because it's a gamble as to what you'll get if you pay for the upgrade. read more

I've given this place so many tries and it is to the point where I will not go back no matter what. The very last time I went there I asked for a female technician. The person that attended me shared this with everyone around and all the technicians started laughing. She proceeded to say that I will be fine and had a male technician begin my gel manicure. I wanted airbrush nails that requires the technician to use a little tool that makes the nail polish look holographic. I've had this done before by female technicians so my gut knew to ask for a female technician. As the male technician begin to work on my nails he started shaking and was looking at his phone while working on my nails. He kept saying sorry and said he had gotten the wrong nail polish and removed the polish from my nails. He then tried again and said he didn't know what was going on and removed the polish and then tried again but this time called a female technician to finally help him. She removed the polish and had me switch into her chair. She completed the gel manicure. After 2hrs of going through all this I made it out of there. I'm extremely disappointed, as this used to be my all-time favorite place in Reno for nails. I was a loyal client for years before moving out of the area. After recently moving back, I decided to give them another try and have gone twice since returning. Unfortunately, both experiences were very frustrating. During my first visit for a pedicure, the nail tech seemed more focused on chatting with a coworker sitting next to me than on doing my nails. As a result, she nicked me several times while working on my cuticles and repeatedly messed up the gel polish. She wasn't even going to fix or clean up the polish she got all over my feet until I pointed it out. Then, she tried to joke that I messed up the polish, even though she had bumped the UV light into my toes multiple times while turning to talk to her coworker. On my second visit, I came with my mother-in-law for full sets of acrylics. While applying the product to my nails, I experienced a burning sensation. I've had my nails done regularly for years, and as a licensed nail tech myself, Ive applied product on my nails many times and I've never experienced that kind of discomfort. When I was soaking off my mother-in-laws nails later, it became very clear that they used MMA product -- which is not only damaging but illegal. It's incredibly disappointing to see how far the quality and professionalism have fallen at a place I used to love and recommend. Sadly, I won't be returning. read more

First of all - Bad-on-Me I should have read the reviews before going here. I was a walk in and there was no waiting. Needed a pedi and acrylic fill. On top of the $40 basic pedi there was a charge to burr off the gel from a recent pedi elsewhere (+$7). A battery operated burr was used to buff my feet (a couple of real ouches happened there...). Tina start prepping my hands as I was getting the pedi (efficient! great!). Once the pedi was completed I moved to her station. When the paint was being applied I noticed it was uneven and lumpy. I mentioned I've had polish that needed some thinner/acetone added to loosen the polish up and she said that's how all the polishes are and they're new. The polishes there are not a common brand, and IMO inferior. She showed me the polish on her hands and yup, they were lumpy too. I pointed out some bubbles, uneveness, etc. and she noted that once cured everything would be good. NOPE! I have lumpy bumpy bubbly and pitted fingers. The biggest thing is when I went to pay CASH, she said that the prices had been raised though not reflected yet on line - AN ADDITIONAL $10! had a simple, basic acrylic fill. I'd brought in cash for the fill and tip and had to get more money. I shouldn't have tipped at all. The ironic thing is during the course of the treatment we'd chatted about how some people tip and some don't. I asked her If she asks her customers (who gave a really poor or no tip) what could have been done better, or been changed, etc. She said "no". I asked if she was curious as to why she/her team may receive low/no tips sometimes and she said "no...they don't come back". I certainly won't. DO NOT GO HERE. LOOK AT THE PICTURES AND VIDEO. I made a yelp account just to write this review. I took my friend here as a treat and the lady who did my friends toes literally (no exaggeration) shaved her toenail off when getting the gel removed. She tried to cover it up by immediately emerging her foot in the water and then getting a hot towel to cover it up. Then she aggressively went straight to nail polish to cover up the fact that she shaved her nail right off. My poor friend has serious anxiety already and couldn't speak up and I had no idea what was going on because I was in a different part of the nail salon. I paid full price for both of our services not realizing what had happened (I finished way before her). Once we left the nail salon she was in tears, told me what had happened, and said we had to get her nail polish off because her toe was burning horribly. We got the nail polish off and it was HORRIBLE to look at. Skin completely exposed. I marched back into the nail salon and demanded to speak with the manager. Turns out the manager was the one who shaved my friends toenail off!!! I showed her pictures and all she had to say was "well I threw in a free callouss removal for her that you didn't pay for". I said this was COMPLETELY unacceptable and I will be demanding a refund for her services. Over and over again she kept saying that she's a "professional" and it was my friends toes that were the problem?!?! (Are you joking me!!!!!). The craziest part was I even offered to pay for my services and just to have hers removed! She told me no over and over again then she said "okay I will refund the pedicure IF you pay for the callouss removal. I told her I would be reaching out to my bank for a full refund of ALL services. I'm not going to sit here and say every single worker in there is awful, because honestly my guy Tai did a great job on my nails and toes. I will say, if the owner gets to read this, REPLACE YOUR MANAGER. I asked to speak with the owner and apparently he cannot be reached. Don't know how that works, but the manager of this establishment should NOT be in charge or even allowed to work on nails. Just disgusting that she blamed my friend for what SHE DID. read more
