Ocean State Job Lot has some major discounts and I love it! We come here regularly for different items like some grains, random household items like batteries, plugs, food items, pots, etc. There may be a large number of items you could get elsewhere with a higher quality, but their prices are unbeatable. For example, EVOO is very cheap. We normally spend upwards of $15-$20 on EVOO at Stop & Shop, Whole Foods as well as other places and it's $5.99 here for the same volume...how?!? I know what you're thinking, the quality is trash, but you'd be wrong. We did some research on what we bought and whether there are any additives and it checks out. I can't say that this is the case for all items, but worth a try to save some mula. This store looks like it's well taken care of. It's clean, organized and the staff here are great. Today I was at job lot doing normal shopping, buying a few things, I stop over at the drawing supply department. Here I see an advertisement saying if I buy 10.00 of one particular brand I am entitled to a "discount card (job lot card) of equal value. I go to check out, no discounts, then we call over a manager with much adieu, she goes to check the supply area, she can't find anything, then I'm forced to show her the sign by going over to the department, now after coming back the clerk goes to a second manager to check the sign (again) By now it's not worth the discount or bad energy, so I buy everything except the art supply. First Computer error, then manager error, then third manager checking again, wasting 20 plus minutes, he offered to make good on the deal but it was too late, total bad transaction, I don't want to think about the miserable experience when I go drawing. Job Lot is my favorite store and this location is my favorite place to shop. If you are a treasure hunter, as I am, it is just incredible what you can find. The food, much of it gourmet (I'm serious), the teas, the huge assortment of Bob's Red Mill, 00 flour from Italy, the list goes on. And Crazy Deals? I have a Cuisinart coffee grinder, a Cuisinart drip coffee maker, a Delonghi dehumidifier, wooden raised garden beds, Space Saver vacuum bags, the list goes on again. The Crazy Deals often result in my being able to purchase the food, paper goods, toothpaste, shampoo (first rate brands) for free. I get things I truly need here. I purchased a winter coat to give to a vet for 40 dollars. They gave me a 40 dollar crazy deal card for 40 dollars. When I went to use it I was told it had a 0 balance so I spoke to the manager on 3 or 4 occasions they said they would let the corp office know and I would get a email from them. It never happened.i asked about again on my next Vista and was told that they will not make good on it but I could call customer service. Needless to they never made good on it. So BEWARE. read more

I love Ocean State Job Lot. This one in Pawtucket, actually is not just steps from a Dollar Tree, so savvy shoppers can now have a way to price compare if they want to... Love getting food groceries here. Huge Olive oil bottle for less than $9. Spices at $1.25-1.79 (they used to be about $1 before the pandemic), snacks and other food items. I also got a shaver...it was a no name brand, but I said...hey...it's only about $10. Roomy space, larger than other ones in the area. Plenty of parking. read more

It is now day 33 and no furniture. We have been reading other reviews on OSJL Facebook Page with many customers complaining of this same issue. This has to be the largest OSJL I have ever seen. It is located in a plaza with plenty of parking and offers carriages. The selection of items is huge. I shop this location and Seekonk but find this one to be better organized. Air conditioners, pet toys, kitchen gadget, you name it and OSJL probably has it! read more

Job lot has sure come a long way. I've been to a few different locations and so far this one is my favorite and fills some of my needs I'm missing so bad with the absence of Benny's. It's clean and filled with so much great stuff for the yard , the house and miscellaneous items you just don't wanna go to Walmart for. The help here are always friendly and helpful. L.e.d 4ft lights for the garage for 14bucks! I bought 4 of them and they worked out perfect. Great spot for inexpensive gardening supplies, bulk food / seasonings, cleaning supplies, and personal care. In most cases the prices are way cheaper than Walmart. For example, terracotta plant pots are $1.50-3 each vs. can be up to $10 at Walmart. It's pretty easy to look up on their website and see what they have in stock at this location, or you can just peruse the aisles and think of what you need. They have a loyalty program also. I wouldn't necessarily trust the quality of the products for a big purchase (like an appliance), but if you just need a few knick knacks, this is a great spot to have in mind! read more

I love Ocean State Job Lot. I buy staples such as olive oil, crackers, socks, and soap here. Every once in a while Job Lot gets a great job lot of some item that is really a good price, and the crazy deals are crazy great. The employees are helpful and patient even though they have hard jobs. read more

Purchased an EZ Grill (according to the package it is manufactured in China for Yankee Trading (an OSJL wholly owned subsidiary which has products manufactured and distributes through their retail OSJL stores) for an AA cookout to use for our veggie burgers. I put grill on picnic table around 11:45 am, and prepared as normal, placing coals in a pile to light and let them turn grey before spreading. I was not able to spread as they burnt right through the aluminum pan! I was standing in front of it chatting with friends and shocked, immediately reacted using my hands to keep the coals away from my clothing as they fell, receiving second and third degree burns on hands (not realizing at the moment), with pieces of charcoal melting through my sneakers. I did not think it was bad and continued cooking on other grills, NOT using the EZ Grill. This was an AA cookout, (A. Anonymous). After the meeting at 4 pm we cleaned up and left the park. On my way home I was looking at how bad the blisters were on my hands and looked online about burns on hands. It said that burns on hands should be seek medical attention. I went to Urgent Care, was told I had second and third degree burns by the Dr, treated, wrapped and given a prescription for antibiotics, as the fear was infection. On Monday morning I contacted Ocean State Job Lot to make a complaint and ask that the grill be removed from the shelf for safety review. I explained to Kathryn that I was not looking for a lawsuit but wanted to just get this settled as I did not consider it major at the time. Compensate for my new Nike sneakers and something for my inability to workout or completely use hands. She was very nice, empathetic and understood. She asked for me to send an email with details and pictures which I complied. On Friday, while at a conference in NYC, I noticed a missed call from OSL but when I checked VM there was nothing left. On Monday I called Kathryn and she told me that Sue noted that she left a VM (there was not) and sent an email, yet there was none in my inbox, my spam not my deleted/trash. Kathryn copied and pasted the email that Sue supposedly sent. Sue did not even show any empathy, nor concern for how my hands were doing. She immediately went into a legal posture which I did not want. She stated she wanted to arrange for a time to take my statement and wanted the names and contact information for the witnesses. This was an AA cookout. (A. Anonymous) All I wanted was for them to make an offer for some type of restitution. Looking at the pictures of the grill you can clearly see how the coals burned right through in a circle where they were placed. Based on her requesting for me to break anonymity and provide names and contact info, I decided, to protect the fellowship, if this is how Ocean State Job Lot wanted to proceed, we should probably go through attorneys. This is ludicrous. It would cost more for the attorneys than I was seeking. Ocean State Job Lot, while they have the pictures of the grill, my burns and melted sneakers, have now chosen to just ignore me and would prefer to go through an attorney, break the anonymity of the individuals rather than just do the right thing. I'm disappointed in how they treat their fellow Rhode Islanders! 1) Lack of concern for customers! Profits over safety. 2) Lack of concern for anonymity of AA fellowship. 3) Would prefer to jump to legal and lawsuits first instead of speaking with the individual and THEN could decide their position. I don't know how this happened, but I came into Job Lot and every employee I saw said hello to me as I walked by. One person offered to help me find something, and another answered a question for me with a friendly face. I guess many times you go into something thinking you're going to encounter a certain "type" of employee, but that's not always the case! This particular location is pretty large and has a great variety of items. I definitely will come here more often! read more

Store was OK, but not as good as I remember. Haven't been in years, so was surprised it was not what I remembered. Not very helpful/outgoing staff, sloppy aisles w/things thrown everywhere. I didn't see much that seemed like a great deal, even the cleaning products (Windex) were more expensive. Checking out was no real picnic either, 2 open registers and people in line. Maybe just an off day, would probably try again, as a store like this can be hit or miss. read more

Customer service is awful. Staff in the store was pleasant. I bought a $300 air conditioner and when I got it home one side was mangled. No damage to the powder coat so the can see I didn'tdo it. One side panel was all wavey and the side panels would not attached. Being a 12000 BTU unit I paid 2 guys to help me pick up and install. They gave me a lousy $20 back and I had to pay $30 to have my guy return it and aggravation. I am returning my other items I bought and going elsewhere even if I have to pay more. Gotta love the Job Lot. They have the most random assortment of stuff: from yoga pants, to kayaks, to European chocolates, to organic shampoos. Really. Random. The down side of OSJL, is if you are looking for something specific, even if you got it there before, you usually can't find it. The up side of OSJL, it that you find the most interesting random stuff that you were not looking for! And unlike other "discount" places, it is not just c**p made in China... they have some top notch brands! Here are some things you can always count on: Seasonal stuff -they have the best assortment of Xmas boxes/ wrapping paper/ decor at the holiday time; they have the greatest selection of veg/ flower seeds, soil, mulch, gardening tools, etc during the summer; they have a large selection of back to school supplies... well you get the idea. They also have some really awesome cosmetics: I get my Aveno facial lotion, Burts bees lip gloss, Opi polish, organic shampoo... for a quarter of the price of my local drug store. Finally, the food: there is just not enough room to describe the food selection, you have to go for yourself, but here are just a few staples: Red Mill everything; Ritter Sport and Milka chocolate; tons of organic cereals, organic natural peanut butters; any and every type of tea on earth. This store is really beautiful. My sister used to say that job lot was gross and everything looked like it was falling off a truck. This store is the opposite of gross. I mean it still is Job Lot but it is a welcomed alternative to the dumpy disheveled mess that was on Pawtucket Ave. The area along that part of North Main St has been changing for the past year. I hope it will bring more development with it. That shopping plaza was very sad. I just hope people can find it because it is in the area I call "the pit" as it is lower than street level. This Job Lot is hug and I'm kind of obsessed! They have a TON of gluten free goods, coconut based cooking goods, I even got hemp protein powder here!what?!?! The huge former Shaws store which was empty for years is not home the Rhode Island's premier discount store. This location is huuuuge. Bigger than a lot of other stores. They have a huge home and garden section in addition to the stuff you love like discount clothes, snacks, cosmetics and other stuff. If you know what OSJL is about, youll know what to expect here. This is by far this biggest and cleanest and most organized Job Lot I have been too and I've been to a few lately trying to find serving plates/platters and such for my wedding. The aisles were wide, well organized and the store is well laid out! This one also has booze!!!! The prices were not that cheap, but hey- it's worth mentioning. We've been to Oceanstate joblot stores in other parts of RI(Warren, Johnston, Warwick) and in SE Mass, and all of these stores are clean, well stocked and have helpful associates. Not so at this OceanState. Shelves are in disarray, have less than half of the items we came to purchase. The cashier was ill-trained and when we went to customer service to return a product, the CS person was incredibly unfriendly and argumentative. Why does Ocean State allow this store to exist?
