We asked the hostess for a table in a quiet area so that we could celebrate our birthdays together... she said us directly next to another table where we could literally reach over and grab their salt shaker! I asked her to move us. She rolled her eyes and reluctantly found something better of course... The music was what she called, retro punk, it was extremely loud we could not hear each other speak and it wasn't conducive to the ambience of a two to $300 stake dinner. She said it was the manager's choice when I complained and that they couldn't change it because that's what he likes... It would've been great music for the CASINO floor but for a very expensive steak dinner celebration the music was not appropriate. The spinach salad was delicious. That's why I gave it. Three stars in addition to our server who was also excellent. Other than that, I would've given this one star... The steak was a ribeye. It came out, medium rare I asked for rare. It was extremely fatty and it was so salty that I couldn't eat it. She offered something else on the menu, but there was no other steak on this particular restaurant week menu... Needless to say I did not eat the steak. My husband had the lamb chops and he said they were very good. I would not return here, having gone to Atlantic City many times council Oak is so much better and that's in the hard Rock hotel! also, Ruth Chris is absolutely delicious also in Atlantic City. We've been going to American Cut at Ocean for years so when I saw that it was renamed and had low reviews on Yelp I was instantly upset. I really enjoyed the steaks and the atmosphere. However, I canceled my reservation on the spot and moved on. A few days later I decided to take a closer look at the reviews because it seemed unlikely the restaurant could have gone downhill that quickly and I'm glad I did. I rebooked a table and went in with an open mind. Low and behold the restaurant was unchanged as well as the staff...and that's a good thing. Every single table was booked and everyone was chomping away on great steaks. We had the usual, which included a tomahawk steak and a variety of other items. Everything was just as good as last time and delivered in a logical and timely manner. The smoked bar drinks were also great and arrived quickly. Service was impeccable and professional, as usual. Pricing is actually on point if you consider the quality of the food and alcohol as well as the type of establishment. No complaints. So, what's with the wave of negative reviews on here? No idea. My hunch is that, given the variety of customers Ocean gets, from different geographical locations, some of them are simply unfamiliar with good steak houses. I also see some people complaining about their steaks being cooked properly? Come on now, I've been here dozens of times and the steaks were always cooked perfectly. This place was fantastic ! Went on a date here with my fiancée, started with three apps, shrimp cocktail, wagyu meatball , crab cake, can I just say wow everything tasted extremely fresh and delicious. I ordered the lobster and he had the 30 day wet aged wagyu which was well worth the money. Kinda pricey but you definitely get your moneys worth. Our sides were great Brussel sprouts with bacon and pine nuts and a baked potato which was a tad dry . But we will definitely be back the service was top notch! read more

The server Patrick was very attentive. He was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the smoke on the water and as far as I could tell it was straight bourbon with a big ice cube. Not what I expected. Perhaps I was given the wrong drink or the bartender made the wrong drink. In any event that was the worst part of the evening. On the other hand, the steaks, salad and sides were amazing. First of all the place is gorgeous. Very sexy steakhouse vibes. The food is the next best thing. I'm surprised it's 3 stars because I cannot explain how delicious everything was. We got a French onion soup which was by far the best French onion I've ever had (even in France). Then the crispy tuna which was more of an American take on it but still that rice was perfectly crispy and the tuna was phenomenal. Of course we needed a beet salad because if its on the menu it's getting ordered no matter when or where. Then the main event-- the ny strip with a few sides. The mac and cheese, the cauliflower au gratin and the Brussels sprouts. The strip was a perfectly cooked medium rare with a nice amount of searing on it. Honestly was missing a bit of salt but that's a quick fix. The cauliflower was probably my favorite bite of the night. I don't know what they put in their salad dressing, but it had a hint of something sweet in there, and it was a perfect balance with the generous amount of feta cheese. I'm surprised by the low ratings for American Cut at Ocean Casino. We always eat dinner at Amada, even going back to when the property was still Revel. However, our most recent visit to Ocean was on a Wednesday so Amada was closed. We decided to try American Cut and were very happy with our meals. We started off sitting in the lounge area to enjoy the happy hour. A $9 martini was a pretty good deal in Atlantic City. The raw bar oysters were excellent. The clams, however, were barely passable. One was spoiled and I had to spit it out it was so bad. The server took the one spoiled clam off the check. I probably should have told her the others weren't much better. But other than the clams, everything else was excellent. At dinner my wife and I shared the 18 ounce New York strip with the blue cheese. We also shared a wagu meatball that was amazing. We had Christmas dinner and we each had a mixed drink first they were very good. My wife started with the Roasted Beet salad she said it was good. I had OG 1924 hotel Caesar must have been made back then. The bowl was filled so high with chopped romaine and croutons. I took the elevator up one flight from the Casino floor and the entrance to the restaurant was smack dab in front of me when I got off of the elevator. Atmosphere was loud and lively. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. I liked the ambience, the entire place it was dimly lit, including the bar area. The Music was cool, while I sat sipping I heard some r & b, rock and pop. I also indulged in brief conversation with a bar mate next to me from Newark. He advised me that he was a regular there and had no complaints. He ordered his food to eat at the bar and it looked so good, so I was definitely expecting mine to be just as good! When my food was handed to me I checked to make sure my steak was well done like I ordered and it was not. I informed the bartender and he apologized and sent it back to the kitchen. About 10 minutes later they handed me another another steak which I did not check until I got to my room. I assumed it was properly cooked per my request, big big mistake. The minute I cut into it I saw nothing but pink. I was extremely disappointed, for one, I am not a fan of medium rare or rare meat of any sort. Second, that piece of meat was pretty pricey! This is a place attempting to be a classic NY Steakhouse. Not only does it fail because of inconsistent food, but not having, or enforcing a dress code is just plain ridiculous. I don't mind spending $300+ for a good steak dinner with some nice wine, but when we're seated for Saturday night dinner next to a table of people dressed in shorts, sneakers, t-shirts, and backwards baseball caps on one side and a couple dressed in grey sweat pants in TANK TOPS on the other side, this will be our last visit. Made a reservation months in advance for 9/20 in anticipation of having dinner here prior to the Sebastian comedy show. Our reservation was for 6:30pm. We arrived a few minutes prior to 6:30 and were told by one of the hosts that a table was being cleaned off and we would be seated soon. At 6:45 I asked for an update and was told by a different host that a table was paying and we would be seated soon. At 6:55 I asked again and was told that a party should be leaving soon. We were then seated at 7:00pm. Our waitress was quick and very polite. We placed our entire tables order by 7:10pm as we were in a rush due to the comedy show starting at 8pm. By 7:45 I informed our waitress that If we did not have our food in the next 10 minutes we would be leaving. She came back shortly after and advised the timing would likely not work out so I informed her we would be leaving. I did tip our waitress as she did bring us sodas and this was not her fault at all. It was nice that we did not have to pay for the sodas even though we drank them. While I don't believe it was the hosts fault either as they are just the messengers for management in most cases, it would have been nice to be informed from the start that it would be a 30 minute wait even with our reservation as we could've chosen a different place to eat. We were not able to eat anything prior to the comedy show, after our 3 hour drive to Atlantic City, and one member in our party had to miss the show to grab a quick bite as he is diabetic. I came here to celebrate my birthday. The appetizers are very good, I quite thoroughly enjoyed the calamari. We also ordered some clams, east and west coast. We ordered the porterhouse steak and it was a little towards the rare side and we ordered it medium rare, I enjoyed the tender steak and it came with house sauce. I generally don't like loud places but that's quite fine if there is amazing food involved. It's a huge area and I was able to determine which dishes I wanted by observing the other tables. Now for dessert, I am not the dessert time but there is one that would always tug on my heartstrings. The Tahitian crème brûlée and it was served with ripe fruits and the sugar was just crispy enough to enjoy. Our server Brad was very pleasant and very professional, he did get me for a bit since he kept saying there were dancers coming. I had been inside so many times but for some reason never went to this restaurant. I will definitely go back now. They have a direct ocean view from the waiting area and bar. The atmosphere is very dark and sophisticated... Which is perfect for a steakhouse. Other than the steaks, the raw bar, craft cocktails, and sides are all worth trying. I thought that the service was very sophisticated, especially in the way they brought it out everything on the carts. Although they are pricey, I think the value is worth it. Just come hungry. Horrible... I was told if I'd SMILED AT THE M ( the men) then they'd might've seated my disabled parents closer(which I'd kindly requested a hour before our reservation , smh ) . We had this problem six months ago on New Year's, but I thought I'd give them a second chance because everyone's deserves that. However, the manager boosted he'd been in the business 25 years and I'm thinking he would know the elderly have a lot of medical problems, to include I'm no spring chicken myself, plus they don't need to know my medical issues. They ABSOLUTELY discriminated against us because of DISABILITIES and AGE!! Manager could not even tell me how many seats in the restaurant were available for the handicap in compliance with the ADA, the American disabilities act. Furthermore, they sat us under a vent and put it full blast freezing cold. I ordered a hot tea immediately that came out cold, and then asked for a new one and they seem disgruntled. Our order was simple not much fanfare we did not order any alcohol. I'm seeing exactly what they're doing and not doing. If you order alcohol, their wines, or their drinks, then they are paying extra special attention to you. In addition to if you're in a large crowd of people that are under 55 years old than they are at your beckon call. They clearly are discriminating against the elderly and anyone with disabilities by placing them in the back of the restaurant where is most difficult to maneuver and then they want the patrons to place their scooters, or walkers out front out of their purview in unsecured areas, that's leaving them victims of potential crimes. Now ask for the food, it's just flabbergasting. I ordered a filet mignon to be cooked Well done, they sent me a filet mignon that was red inside. Look at the pictures and see for yourselves. I told the waiter and he wanted to put it under the broiler for me. We all know if he had placed that under the broiler that it would've been like beef jerky! WOW! I also ordered the shrimp that was supposed to come with garlic and butter sauce. Instead, it came with a wine and cream sauce with lemon and you couldn't even see like there was no lemon on it, but it was so sour and tart like I could smell it it was rancid and I was like why are they serving this to me and I just put my fork in the sauce and I said sir this is not butter and garlic sauce. The menu clearly says shrimp with butter and garlic sauce. It says nothing about wine or cream or lemon. So can anyone help me out here tell me what you think? I could even look at the plate and see like something was wrong with the sauce? Not once did the manager or any manager come to the table. I had to tell the server to take the shrimp off of the receipt, Which really didn't matter because my comps covered the bill. It was only a matter of principle. I went upstairs to report this and then the manager and the chef both report there and were trying to tag team me and I was like what is going on here?? Moral of the story is, the manager said to me, that if I had smiled to the host, Michael, when I had requested handicapped seating for my parents, and then smiled at the server/waiter, and throughout the dining experience, then I would've got the food cooked correctly ... Oops and don't let me forget and then we would've been seated in the correct spot for them to be a closer instead of the back of the restaurant. After reading other reviews, I'm truthful and I know they're doing something wrong against humanity. They need to be investigated by the federal government for DISCRIMINATING against the elderly and for people with disabilities.
