This place is not really on the ocean, but it's close enough. Cross the street and you're feet from the beach. For the price, you really can't beat it. Brookings is such a cool place. This old fashioned motel is wonderful. It is almost like stepping back in time. There is a living room and a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. We are visiting this week for thanksgiving and my birthday( day after thanksgiving) This is our second stay and each time we love it more. Very clean rooms, everyone is so nice. We have found that we like one room better than the other, but not due to anything being wrong just our preference. Today is Thanksgiving and they dropped off a adorable gift basket!! I've been coming to Brookings for many years, but only found this delightful motel this week. It is really a gem. Extremely clean and immaculately maintained, with superb friendly service. I was a difficult customer, but they were very accommodating to my needs and wants. The rooms are very large and comfortable, with two televisions and a lovely reclining chair. The kitchen was very nice. I brought two bicycles inside the suite with me, which made things a little cramped, but you rarely find a motel room where you could park two bicycles at all. The motel is a short walk to the beach, but I couldn't see or hear the ocean from my room. Actually, I couldn't hear anything at all, which is pretty wonderful on a Saturday night; the motel is very quiet. I can't wait to stay here again. Be sure to eat at Catalyst Seafood, a short walk away. The whole weekend was terrific. read more

LOVED THIS OLACE!! I wish I would have taken pictures. Perfect for anyone traveling with kids who need a BREAK and some space. Netflix hooked up in the living room TV where there is also an entire mini kitchen, table and recliner....and I got a separate bedroom with my own TV! It was soooooo perfect and nice. It's a hotel. Nothing fancy, but everything essential is here. Note: We are on a road trip in our VW camper. It's been raining buckets. We needed a night out of the weather. The extra-plainness of this hotel was made up for by our being able to use a kitchen, take hot showers and recharge our road-weary selves. Pro's: Full kitchen, excluding dishwasher. Separate bedroom. Recently my Wife and I spent some time enjoying the Southern and Central Coast of Oregon. Our first stop was in Brookings. Before leaving our home in Morro Bay,CA , I had investigated via Internet our lodging options and settled on Ocean Suites Motel. As always, when I've researched things from 100's of miles away, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Well we got what we expected and more. First off, they don't offer Internet reservation so you have to do it via phone. No biggie. The person my wife dealt with must have been very pleasant as I could here her laughing out loud during their conversation. When we arrived after 10 hours of driving we checked in with the very nice person at reception and headed up to our room. Well neither one of the card keys worked so I went to the office and got two more. These didn't work either. I went back to the office and after a quick discussion with another lady she made two more for another room. These worked just fine. Problem recognized, problem discussed, problem taken care of in an efficient manner. Very good customer service in my book. After getting settled in our suite, we made our way back to the office to "check out" some DVDs. They had quite a selection and all are free of charge. The suite itself was EXCELLENT considering what we paid ($80 a night as of 4/09). The carpeted living area was very clean and up to date. You get a love seat and a recliner with a small dining table off to the side. A large tv with DVD/VCR finishes it off. The Kitchen area has a fairly large refrigerator with a micro perched on top. A four burner cook stove/oven and an assortment of miscellaneous pots, pans, silverware, cups, stemware, etc. are included. The bed was comfortable and included a television perched on the opposite wall. This was a fantastic property, right on the harbor. When in Brookings I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else even at places for twice the money. Good Stuff! read more

Wow-$89 tax included for a queen bed suite, kitchen with stove, full fridge and microwave....and close to harbor restaurants. We walked over to the beach 2 min away. Sebastian's is right across the road and the various coffee shops, ice cream, market, bookstore are just a short hop back up the road. Free wifi is great. We found everything to be top notch. DVD rentals free at the office- thankfully weather is great so we watched the ocean... Clean and good place to stay! read more

My sister and I were so happy to find a hotel where we didn't have to share a room! Ocean Suites was easy to reserve by phone, and the desk and cleaning staff were all very friendly. The kitchenette (full sized refrigerator!) had a coffee maker, toaster, microwave, and other essentials. Everything was scrupulously clean. The separate bedroom had its own heating unit, as well as a ceiling fan. All of the windows in the suite opened! Loved that ocean air ... The location is easy to get to, with plenty of restaurants nearby at the harbor. We will definitely stay here again when next in Brookings. read more

Absolutely adorable motel right on the marina in Brookings. Suite style room was well appointed with all the usual dishes, etc. Comfy bed. Was not super thrilled that the curtains could not be closed quite all the way and there were no blinds so I fel a little exposed. Besides that it was very comfy and they have tons of movies to choose from from G-rated kiddie stuff to really scary horror movies and everything in between! I will be staying here again due to the good price, great location, and friendly service. Warning- they do not allow cooking of crab in the rooms FYI!! read more

My husband reserved a room for us at the Ocean Suites in Brookings, OR. We are a respectable couple, 55 & 61 yrs old, and we ride a motorcycle. When we were in the motel office checking in, the owner(?) proceeded to tell us that she's reluctant to rent to "bikers", because she had a bad experience once....a discourteous biker revved his bike at all hours of the day & night. So from that incident she judges all bike riders as trouble makers. :-/ As far as the room goes, it was very nice. No complaints at all. And all the employees were pleasant & nice. They have a guest laundry & provide the soap. There are 2 trays of ice cubes in the fridge, but if you want any more than that you have to buy it at the office go $2. read more

Brookings is limited. This I know because I used to live here. And finding inexpensive but clean is also limiting. This place was perfect! This was the first hotel/motel bed that wasn't terrible. My back didn't hurt at all. It was very clean and was plenty of space for us! Would love to come back and stay here again because of the kitchen! read more

Inexpensive for this area, especially considering it's very close to the pricier Best Western Plus, where all rooms have an ocean view (we paid $80 with AAA discount for two queen beds here; BW wanted $110 for one queen bed) Very friendly proprietors Soft blankets, individual thermostats in bathroom, bedroom, living area Free wifi Cons: Bed was too firm for me, but I'm picky about my beds. Bathroom doesn't have much counter space, just sink area and small lip over the toilet. Details: Kitchenette was stocked with foil, ice trays with ice made already, full roll of paper towels. When we checked in, we were offered one queen bed in bedroom or two queens - one in living area as well - for the same price. I'm in oregon visiting from Italy (originally born and raised in Oregon) My parents and I came to Brookings to celebrate her birthday. I was a little apprehensive about what the hotel would look like but I was seriously pleasantly surprised! The room we got had two king size beds, one being in its own bedroom, a kitchen, closets, two ceiling fans, heating vents in each room. NETFLIX, cable, strong Internet....I am so happy with this hotel. The BEST part though was Shina, she works at the front desk and it's so friendly and funny, she really was the cherry on top. read more

We could have opted for the mega hotel on the beach, but after reading the reviews decided to stay here and use the savings to eat and shop the Oregon coast, using Ocean Suites as our base. This place is first of all utilitarian, but also very clean, with a staff that is super friendly and accommodating. It's tucked back away from the harbor and very quiet, almost as if it's in a small canyon, which was nice in that the light in the morning didn't penetrate into our room until late morning. Hotel staff kept up topped up with towels and cleaned up our little suite every day. We used the kitchenette to toast our bagels and keep our snacks fresh. The staff recommended us to some great restaurants in the area and we ate quantities of seafood that didn't compare to anything back home. This is a great place that we'll come back to next year. read more

I stayed at Ocean Suites last week on my way back down to Northern California. I booked the room the day of arrival and was pleasantly surprised. Check-in was flawless. The gentleman in the office was very helpful. I had the one bedroom studio apartment with a queen size bed. I needed something inexpensive, clean, comfortable and safe and the Ocean Suites Motel offered all of those things. The kitchen was fully stocked and overall, the studio was very clean and cozy. All staff that I came in contact with were very pleasant. The property is not right on the beach, but just a short walk from it. Another perk is that Netflix is offered in the living room. This felt like home away from home and I will definitely recommend the suites to others and stay there again on my next trip up the coast. read more

I travel quite a bit for work, especially to Brookings every couple months. I usually stayed at a different hotel with the rest of my staff. But after being super uncomfortable the last few times enough was enough. So, over to Ocean Suites I go. The staff are superb and very polite. Always willing to help to make your stay more comfortable. The room I was in was quaint and very clean. I didn't feel like I was in a hotel, I felt relaxed as if I was home. Stayed here for a quick spring break overnight trip to the beach with the kids. We looked at the Best Western but it was booked so I stared Yelping and Trip Advisoring to find a decent place to stay. We first looked at a few motels on the main highway and were leery but ready to settle when I spotted Ocean Suites and their 5 star rating on both sights. Wow! I am so glad that we stayed here! We got the last room too! This was a great place for our family of 4. A living room (with 1 bed), kitchenette with small dining table, and a separate bedroom. Both the living room and bedroom had TV's. The kitchenette was sparse but able to serve our needs. And they have KONA coffee! Another nice touch was the free DVD checkout at the office. All of the employees were very friendly and helpful during our stay. I wish we had been able to stay longer than 1 night. Only 1 small detail kept me from giving them 5 stars- Everything looked and felt very clean, however the sheets had that musty, weird smell that sheets get when left on the shelf. I don't fault them too much for it though, my perfectly clean sheets at home can get the same way. With that said-We would stay here again in a heartbeat! This place deserves some attention; it's a good find at a reasonable price. It's in the harbor area, which is interesting to stroll through with small places to pick up eats. The motel is maybe a mile or two from downtown. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's pretty nice. We had a suite--a living room area with a recliner chair, plus a queen bed, and a small kitchen table & chairs. The kitchenette has a stove/oven, a smaller full-sized fridge/freezer, a microwave, pots & pans, dishes, flatware, etc. The woman in the office upgraded us to a suite with an extra bedroom at no extra charge. Flat screen TVs in living room and in 2nd bedroom. Free wi-fi, comfortable beds, very clean. We'd definitely return. read more

Free wifi and you can rent movies from the office for free..(newer releases)having a suite is a must with kiddo's.They have plenty of room to roam! You are a short walk to the ocean where they have a laundry mat that has a great burger.. This motel is the cleanest motel or hotel I have ever stayed in. Also, everything is in good repair. The rooms are like small apartments that have a separate bedroom and a full kitchen. The staff is professional and caring. I recently had to get a room because my mother passed away. The motel was booked up but they put me on a waiting list and called me right away. They also left a beautiful sympathy card in the room signed by all the staff. We will always stay here whenever we are in Brookings. It's like a home away from home. read more

I can't say enough nice things about this place. This is the third time we've stayed here over the last five years or so. The suites are so comfortable and clean. We've stayed in one that had a separate bedroom as well as a bedroom when you walked in the room and it also had a recliner, two-seat table, and a nice kitchen which was stocked for your needs if you wanted to cook. This time we stayed in one of those rooms and then moved on the second night to a room that had one separate bedroom and the "living room" had a couch which was also a sofa bed as well as the two-seat table and kitchen amenities. The beds are comfortable; the place is so quiet; it's clean; and the staff has always been so very friendly. Would highly recommend this place to anyone and would definitely stay here again if and when we are back in the area. Beautiful location on the harbor. read more

I've stayed here before and all has been decent in the past. I make yet another reservation recently and remind them of my Government rate and have them send me the email to confirm. Government rate is tax exempt. The email confirmation I get still contains tax... I call back within a minute and remind them that tax needs to be waved. She apologizes and states that she will have it fixed right away and will both email and call me with the fix. 15 hours later, no fix... Frustrated, I call that next day and explain the situation, that they did not do anything and that I want to cancel my reservation. Instead of saying that they will do whatever to have me keep my reservation and immediately fix it in the moment, the guy on the phone obliges and cancels the reservation. So instead of keeping a long time customer and losing them forever, the effort this man puts into good customer service, he loses this patron. This is our workforce people!.. - read more

Immaculately clean rooms. A lot of thoughtful amenities. The owners put a lot of thought into making your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible, a home away from home. However, the bed was too soft and uncomfortable and we woke up repeatedly during the night. A good bed and a good nights sleep is the main thing a hotel should offer. read more
