As others have said, everything on this menu is good. Everything. I have eaten in restaurants all over the world, but I daydream about coming back to this one. They have awesome appetizers ranging from tsatsiki to Queso Fundido, any of their Mexican dishes are the best I've ever tasted, I have a friend who lives off of their subs, & I could wolf down their Mamma Mia pizza, Chicken Marsala, or fettucine primavera all day long. The fried ice cream or sopapillas are amazing desserts, & all of their portion sizes are huge! The only problem I have when coming to this restaurant is picking out just one thing to order. Great place for pasta or Mexican cuisine, they also have pizza and steak. We got a complementary fresh chips and salsa. I ordered chicken fettuccine, it came with a salad starter with a choice of Dressing and bread stick; the fettuccine was creamy, it came with two pieces of garlic bread. read more

Horrible Service, Food & Owner/Mgr Very Rude Tonight the food was terrible. My enchiladas were dry-had to ask for side of sauce twice. No napkin. Took waitress 35 min to refill our beverages and check on us. I've always enjoyed coming here and having good food and service. We had the lunch special chicken fajitas and beef ravioli in white sauce with sautéed mushroom. The Food was so delicious I didn't mind paying 13.00 a (good sized) plate for it. The wait was a little longer than average, about 25 minutes. However my server was awful. I not only saw her smoking on the deck but she tossed the butt into the ocean! Gross! read more

This place scared me with its combo Italian/Greek/Mexican and weird interior decorations but actually turned out to be pretty good. Went here twice (and counting) both salads I ordered were great (blackened chicken and gyro salad). The service was good and the price was reasonable considering the quality and quantity. The only thing negative I'd say is the the salsa they give with the chips may be the worst salsa I have ever had. Like truly bad but don't let that discourage you! read more

This place used to be pretty good, lots of menu choices and the food good. For the last couple of years the quality has been slipping, instead of piping hot plates they come out cool enough to handle by bare hand. Several times I have eaten here in the past couple of years and they have never achieved cheese melt in the enchiladas or on the beans. The next problem is service, generally sullen and slow with a side of forgetfulness, they dump your plate on the table, leave and avoid you until you flag them down. Prices are way to high here, if the quality was better I might've able to see it but quantity does not trump quality in my book. Beer prices are through the roof at 6.00.00 for a Pacifico draft, especially considering there is a place that serves ice cold pints of micro brew for 3.50.00! I won't be back here anytime soon. The meat is dry, chicken is dry, tortillas for the enchilada trio taste horrible..It seems that everytime I choose this place for dinner, the service & food get poorer and poorer. They change their menus more than the food itself, you'd think that they'd at least attempt to use fresh ingredients that won't dry out vs. whatever product they do use. Drinks are delicious, also heard a rumor they low key include a tip in your bill even if you're not in a party of 8 or more? If that's true, then I will not be coming here any longer. Some really good meals here and a ton of options. Owner seems to have mirrored restaurant after The Cheesecake Factory. Negatives would be they use a lot of the same sauces in different dishes and the waitstaff is really hit and miss. Probably the most popular restaurant in Ketchikan and some of the staff (some related to owner) have gotten a bit full of themselves. And be wary of going in with small children as you'll actually get dirty looks from staff (even during lunch service). Our service was so terrible last time from the hostess and waitress that we didn't leave a tip. Both were rude, waitress never came back to our table after serving our meal until she brought the bill - which was a good 10 minutes after we had finished eating. Had to ask for drink refills. Best place to get mexican food in Ketchikan, hands down. But be prepared to pay for it and 50/50 change if you'll get great service or terrible service. I am a Ketchikan local who has regularly dined at Ocean View (75+ times/year) for the last 10 years or so. In the past I had read the less than stellar reviews left here and on other sites and could not understand them. Today, those reasons became evident to me, much to my disappointment, as this town isn't exactly full of decent places to dine. Ocean View has been our regular standby, but no more. Our service and experience was absolutely deplorable today at lunch. We were a party of six and didn't expect our food to come out lickety-split, but our waitress was rude, impatient and unwilling to actually serve us. Our table was easily serviceable from all sides, but she was too lazy to individually hand us our beverages, and just unloaded them at the end of the table for us to distribute ourselves. Weird. Three of the six in our party ordered the grilled chicken salad, which is generally a fabulous, generously portioned salad. Today, all the mushrooms were black and wrinkly and obviously well past their best-by date! The chefs would have been better off to have left them out entirely and just bump up another of the tasty veggies. Throughout the entire meal we were completely unable to get our servers or the owners attention. Not one pass-by to inquire how we were enjoying our meal, nothing. At the end, when our server finally showed up with the bill, we told her of the poor quality of the mushrooms and how they ruined the salad. A plate heaping with blackened, shriveled mushrooms that several in our party had picked out in order to eat their salad was at the end of the table. She proceeded to go off and talk to the owner and came back and told us that is what mushrooms look like sometimes in Alaska. REALLY?? Was grocery shopping after this fiasco of a meal and the mushrooms looked great at Safeway. But, to add insult to injury, on our way out, I expressed our disappointment with the meal to the owner. As a frequent diner at Ocean View, he knows me and the frequency of my visits, and he was disdainful of my comments, defensive and rude. I am sad to say, this was most likely my last visit. We will miss you Ocean View, but it's just not acceptable to be treated so poorly at a local establishment you have loyally supported for years. read more

This place is a hidden gem! The shabby looks from the outside do not compare to wonderful service and welcoming interior! Although it advertises itself as Mexican and Italian cuisine, Oceanview has an extremely extensive menu with all types of salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes, Mexican fare and desserts (i'm pretty sure their menu is created by the same publishing company that Cheesecake Factory uses)! This was one of the two recommended places to eat in Fodor's Alaska 2011 guide. I think locals enjoy a break from the rustic and quaint fishing village and to escape to Italy (hence the decor theme inside). Also, the view of the bay is also attractive to tourists who want to see the beautiful bay setting. The menu offered mainly Mexican and a few Italian dishes. I choose a Mexican dish because Fodor's recommendation, the hostess spoke Spanish, and the background music was Spanish. The service was prompt in getting my orders and bringing out the food while it was still hot. I liked how they gave me an orange slice with my Alaskan white beer too! I ordered the carne asada and the meat was chewy and nicely seasoned. The guacamole seemed to be a little too much for the two tacos I received. One criticism is that they could have split the meat and filling into three tacos rather than two (to improve handling and minimize leakage from taco). The grilled onions were meager but I still enjoyed the few they gave me. Overall, I had a good experience and would prefer this to other options around town. It is nice to get away from the um-teen jewelry stores and have something that both locals and tourists can love: Mexican food! read more

The food here is mediocre but since this is the only Mexican Italian game in town nobody seems to care. In addition every single one of the hostesses I have dealt with in the past 10 years have been extremely rude and pretentious. The owner doesn't seem to care about the quality of the food which has been less than desirable . They have bad costumer service. We were eating there and we ordered a lot. Then out of nowhere a pigeon flew IN THE RESTAURANT and we were at the very end of the restaurant by a big glass window. The pigeon stepped all over our food when it tried to get out through the GLASS window. Yes, of course the bird ruined our meal but it was the way they handled the situation that ruined our experience eating in their restaurant. The bird stepped on almost everything. They "replaced" a steak fajita suspiciously fast because it only took 5 minutes. It made us think that they just put cheese on it, heated it up, and put it in a box. Also, if we didn't ask, they wouldn't have replaced our drink. The waitress said it was the first time it happened but she should've at least felt more sorry than treating it like it was funny. We only got to save two plates of pasta and after we moved to a different table it felt like she was rushing us to pay the bill!! They replaced something but they could've at least taken the drink off our bill. They have good food but it was upsetting and very disappointing how they handled a situation that includes a bird entering their restaurant and ruining our meal but it was their bad costumer service that ruined a special day for us. read more

This place has wonderful Mexican and wonderful Italian food. My in-laws are locals and they eat there weekly. You may want to make reservations for the evening meal, as this place fills up fast. I have been to ocean view for special occasions since I was a little girl. I refuse to go there anymore. I went during a weekday, after lunch, before dinner. There was no wait to be seated, the place was practically empty (it wasn't tourist season). Our food should have been done fairly soon after ordering, right? Not so much. Our idiot waitress didn't even come over to get our order, or even bring us water, until we were sitting there for 30 minutes. She finally brought us our water and menus. ... Another 15 minutes pass after we have set our menus down... Still no waitress. She's running around, smiling at the men in business suits. She finally comes over after she brings them their appetizers and drinks (by the way, they came in at least 20 minutes after we did). We order our food - cheeseburger and fries, beef enchilada with refried beans and Spanish rice. NOT DIFFICULT. This took over an hour. My enchilada was barely even warm, the cheeseburger had no cheese or seasoning of any kind. We went without food for almost two hours. The hostess at the front had nothing to say when I told her about our waitress. I have family members who have been there since, and their service hasn't been much better. I have lost hope for this restaurant, which was once one of my favorite places to go. read more
