    Room 215.

Each room is individually owned and therefore decorated and furnished differently. Unfortunately, I wound up with an outdated room with an old CRT TV, a tiny stove/refrigerator/sink combination, no dresser, and the air conditioner is in the bathroom. There are better rooms that have flat screen TVs, stainless steel full size refrigerators, and many other upgrades. I'd heard you can ask the front desk for a newly renovated room. I tried this and was denied though. Rudely, might I add. My room also was hideously decorated. The couch is vinyl and disgusting, the bed feels like it has bed bugs, and the shower head is so overpowered taking a shower gives me a headache. The only redeeming qualities seem to be that it has a tennis court, a courtyard with tables and chairs, and is really close to the beach. Regardless, Ocean Vista Resort is a shabby old motel, not a resort. Probably the worst place you could stay in the Hamptons.

Decor is dated, but no one seems to care. I wish it was cheaper because there isn't much to the place. There's an onsite tennis court and picnic tables with BBQ area. Plenty of lounge chairs, but the tables with chairs are all on the first level. First come first serve. Bathroom is actually pretty big with the closet and drawers. Stall shower. Good water pressure. Tiny if you're a bigger person. The place comes with a decent kitchen with all you'll need some come with groceries. Beach access is great with lounge chairs. No umbrellas. The bagel spot is walking distance, and I think that's the most important thing! The lobster place Lunch was great, and Fonditas for tacos and nachos. All day. $35 cab ride. Bring your bikes hipsters. Cheapest way to get around!

    Room 217 relaxed feel

Just spent a fantastic weekend at Ocean Vista with everything my girlfriend and I could ask for. We stayed in a newly full renovated room - Number 217 on the second floor and were lucky enough to enjoy two amazing sunsets from the Adirondack chairs right outside our door. Bathroom was great and my girlfriend really enjoyed having a hair dryer and a separate make up mirror she used before we went out. Comes with a Moen rain shower! There were also 2 full length mirrors which was also very convenient. It did rain for a few hours one day, so we cooked popcorn and watched some Netflix in bed as the Smart TV swiveled 90 degrees off the wall. The full size fridge easily kept our wine chilled along with all our food we grilled directly on the property. The beach was less than a 100 yards from our room. Couldn't have asked for a more relaxing weekend. We will definitely be asking to stay in room 217 when we book again at Ocean Vista later this summer.

The word "resort" does NOT apply - don't be mislead. Not the best - not the worst. The beach is great! Easy access, clean, being private for Ocean Vista guest makes it really nice. The facilities itself - there are many many many "little adjustments" that could be made that would be it much much better - 1) we had boken coffee pot--it brewed but we had to put rubber band around basket 2) would be nice if lights at entrance were on at night as they were off or broke all 3 nights we stayed 3) just overall appearance of the rooms very motelish - certainly not "resort" Would we go back, probably not - but again, if it's just for a couple nights/maybe long weekend - not the worst place just could be better for price.

We stayed two nights in a dog friendly room, which was spacious and clean - no previous smell of a dog at all! They had a dog bed and treats with bowls waiting for her. It was so cute! We visited the restaurant and our food was great. Service was quick and helpful with the menu as well. They had the fire place on which was so nice. We went to the bar/lounge afterwards and had a few drinks by that fireplace. So nice and relaxing. Staff was always welcoming and all drinks and food were good. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. That's all you can ask for! My only complaint was when we were checking out I wanted to make sure our bill was correct and wanted to speak with someone. With Sunday brunch going on upstairs there was no one at the front desk for almost 15 minutes. During the time I was waiting two other people came behind me to wait as well. The front desk person who came back was quick and friendly to get us checked out but for the price I would think someone would be there at all times? We can't wait to come back to Barons Cove soon!!

Room to Improve: 1) Inflexible 4:00PM check-in. They emailed to ask when we'd arrive beforehand; I said 2:00 and would appreciate an early check-in, they said to wait and will text me when room was ready. Actually we had to wait outside in the heat or in the crowded lounge until 4:30PM, no early check-ins for anyone (there were other guests waiting with us). We would have walked into town for lunch had we known this. 2) Free coffee but no included food for breakfast, which is only served in their upstairs restaurant at extra charge. At BC's price point they could have offered a few complementary pastries, as is done at many cheaper venues. 3) The a/c in our room was old, noisy, had no remote and didn't work well. Musty smell in room. 4) Lunch served outside only in all kinds of weather, insufficient umbrellas to provide shade on hot day. (Pls see separate review for their restaurant). All in all our stay at Barons Cove was pretty good, but felt their oldish amenities didn't warrant high room rates plus puzzling "resort fees."

There is a nice, cool, pool that the kids absolutely loved playing in. The campground is also pet friendly as long as you are in an RV or at a campsite. They don't allow pets in the cabin. That wasn't an issue for us this time, but it's something to consider if you are planning on traveling with pets. The cabins themselves are fine. Nothing extraordinary and nothing to nitpick about the structure. We only had a few issues. The first was with the AC. It was set to the lowest temperature, and it still couldn't keep the room cool. Granted, we came during a heat wave, so it's probably not so bad when it's just in the 80s or lower and the humidity isn't so high. The other issue was the mattresses on the bed. They were like prison mats. So uncomfortable, and even a two inch mattress topper didn't help. If you're a young person, then it probably isn't such a major problem, but if you are over 40 or have back pain, then you definitely want to avoid these cabins or plan to bring something that may help to make it more comfortable. The last issue is the cost. We stayed for two nights, and it cost over $300. My wife booked the cabin without my knowledge, so we were stuck with it, but for that price we could have stayed in a really nice hotel with amenities and towels and all of the things that are typically provided. In these cabins, there is toilet paper, a bath mat, and a couple of trash bags. You have to bring all of your own linens and towels. You also need to bring all of your own toiletries. And if you want coffee in the morning, either plan to bring a small machine and your own coffee, or you can take a 10-15 minute trip into one of the nearby towns. So, for the price and all things considered, I would not recommend booking a cabin here. The RV and campsites seem fine, and our in-laws paid a little less than half of what we paid for their RV site, so I would recommend it for that purpose.

This was a birthday treat for my friend. But we were seated at a nice table and the host said there was plenty of room. The waiter was great. Took our beverage order and invited us to browse the brunch. Before we got up the host returned and asked if our seating was okay because we were near an outside door. We said it was fine, didn't bother us at all. When we returned from the brunch offerings, the waiter asked us if we were comfortable and if everything was okay. Yes, it was fine! Just as we began to eat, another man came over and asked if everything was going well. Sure, we said. Then he said we would need to be moved to another table because they were expecting a large crowd. Seriously? So, our plates were picked up and off we went. He told us to wait until the table was cleaned off despite another table right next to it being all set up. Now things aren't so fine as the food is getting lukewarm and I feel like I'm disappointing my friend. Fortunately, the food was excellent, and we were able to go back to replenish our plates. We paid the bill and as we were leaving, we saw the original space where we sat was still empty. No big crowd. Waters edge needs to dot their I's and cross their T's and communicate among themselves much better than they did today. An excellent restaurant might've offered to comp the one Bellini I had. The food and waitering was quite good. Otherwise, the attitude and approach was subpar.

It is a hidden gem for people who are looking for a simple beach getaway. *** There is nothing fancy about this place except that it's ON the beach. WiFi wasn't great, we definitely used some cellular and personal hotspot etc BUT you won't find a place on Long Island where you can get two bedrooms, a full bath, full eat in kitchen, living room and covered deck off the side of the cabin for the price you will pay here. There's common areas for BBQing and then you bring your food back to your room/cabin, or you can cook in the kitchen but who wants to do that at the beach LOL. There is also free snacks and beverages in the lobby for guests pretty much 24 hrs. Free simple bf foods like muffins, etc in the mornings too. They have day beds and hammocks on the backyard lawn but the entire point of staying here is that when you go up and over the stairs you're on the beach. They have beach chairs or you can bring your own. We brought a wagon and my husband was able to walk around the side to bring everything over instead of lugging your stuff up and over. Kid friendly, dog friendly quiet area of the beach.
