Terrible service. Waited over hour for our food to come out to the table. When food did arrive, it was incorrect and we waited another 12 minutes for the corrected items. By that time, the rest of my party's food was cold so we could eat together. We were never offered or provided any drink refills on soft drinks, water or lemonades. This is definitely the place to come for a gorgeous sunset. I thought the food was good. We started with the calamari and this is probably where I took a wrong turn. Probably because I'm not a fan of banana peppers but that's on me for accidentally eating one. My dinner companion on the other hand loved the peppers in the dish. For my dinner, I got the oyster platter with a side of rice. I love fried oysters so I was a happy diner. My favorite part of the dinner was my dessert which was the flourless chocolate torte. I apologize for the lack of a photo for my dessert. I took it to go and ate it all when I got home! I've always loved this place. The view is unmatched on wrightville beach. On warm weather days you can eat out on the pier and on other days they have both 1st and 2nd floor dinning with ocean views. I ordered the lumina burger which was really good and my daughter got the kids Mac and cheese (white sauce but delicious). With your meal you get complimentary hush puppies which we love. There's parking out front of the restaurant but can get full during peak hours. I recommend going for an earlier dinner to beat the crowd if possible! Can't wait to go back! read more

We always look forward to a dinner at the Oceanic. We were seated at a window side table which provided a lovely view. Our waiter did his best to attend to the needs of two tables of six and a table of eight in addition to us. Our basket of hush puppies was delivered overcooked. On the fried seafood platter, the fish was served hot and delicious, the oysters were only warm, the fried shrimp was already cool and the side of grits was only lukewarm. We looked forward to dessert, but the key lime pie tasted as if it had been stored in the refrigerator uncovered all day. Although this experience was disappointing, we will chalk it up to an off night. We will definitely give the Oceanic another try. It deserves another chance and it's a tradition! read more

My family and I love to visit this establishment in the cooler months due to the lack of tourism and short wait times. We opted to sit outside because who wouldn't want to enjoy dinner right by the ocean, hearing the waves crash and feeling the sun warming their cheeks from February winds? If I could leave our waitress a separate 5 star review, I would. She was polite, attentive, knowledgeable about the day's specials, and menu as a whole. Our experience was tainted due to whom we assumed at the time to be the owner of the Oceanic. My husband and I were told by the young ladies upfront signing people in that we were more than welcome to dine on the restaurant's patio. Other guests were grabbing cocktails at the indoor bar and exiting through the patio doors to enjoy a stroll on the pier. I guess this was a problem the owner or whomever felt he had to take into his own hands due to patrons letting cold air inside the bar area.... If you do not want guests using and visiting the outside area of the restaurant or pier, have a sign and inform the hostesses upfront it is closed. Don't publicly complain and verbally shame those who are enjoying the outdoor space. We relocated from Ohio years ago so we take full advantage of any sunshine we can; especially this time of year. It made my family and I uncomfortable. We were assured by our waitress that we were allowed to use those doors to use the restroom etc. and that the outdoor area was open year round and we were A OK. She eased our worries to a certain degree; however, I feel as if the owner needs to really work on his approach towards guests if he wants more locals to frequent and spend their money there. If you and your family are planning to dine at the oceanic, opt to enjoy your meal inside. Service was decent for a large party but not a 5 star service kinda place. Everybody is nice but very very busy. Good teamwork but we had to talk to multiple people to get a message to the kitchen. It has been several years since we visited the Oceanic. The food and service back then was very good, the crab cakes were great. We visited the Oceanic on Christmas Eve. The servers were good, however the food was horrible. We ordered a salad, when the waitress brought our food we were flabbergasted. The salad looked like it came from the garbage . The greens were wilted, it was plain ugly. The waitress apologized and took the salad away. Looking around the restaurant, from what we could see, the food did not look appetizing. It's a shame that this restaurant has fallen far from grace. We certainly will never go back to this establishment. Dirty Dishes were stacked in open view of the customer's view. Two girlfriends and I decided to come here for a late lunch in August. We all had issues parking because there is never enough parking for all the cars. Then we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, so we all had fun trying to keep the 1 year old with us occupied. We grabbed a drink at the bar before our table was ready- the bartender was completely disinterested in us and everyone else at the bar. It really felt like we were all just an annoyance to her. Thankfully our waiter was much better. We were able to sit outside in the shade which was perfect- not too hot, enough things happening and birds around to keep the munchkin entertained. Our meals were all delicious- swordfish, asparagus, fish tacos, calamari, and hushpuppies. Overall, the view is beautiful, the food is good, but unless you're really in need of the view and already on Wrightsville, the price isn't worth the parking hassle and there's much better seafood other places. read more

Excellent lunch service today. Stepped into Oceanic for my last oceanfront meal of the trip and it did not disappoint. It took a minute for my server to take my drink order, but I think it was a miscommunication between who was working, once that was settled, service was excellent. The waterfront view was beautiful, the second floor seating area was calm and welcoming. I started with the Old Bay colossal shrimp cocktail, this could have been a meal in itself! The shrimp were large and tender. Cooked just right with Old Bay seasoning. Next up were the shrimp tacos, I had hoped there would be a grilled option, however the sweet chile sauce made the fried shrimp a perfect match for the slaw and mango salsa. Food was decent but the service could have been way better. Our party of four was sat at an outdoor table and we waited about 15 minutes before I had to get up and ask someone if we even had a server. I should note that there were only maybe 5 occupied tables outside at the time and we watched every other table get acknowledged by a different server. We asked the bus boy who was cleaning the table next to us if we had a server and he said "I don't know who the server is" as he turned around and continued to clean the table. He made no effort to assist. The server was friendly but was strange when addressing people as "my man" and all kinds of other names. He was pretty attentive once he came to our table claiming our regular server was feeling sick. I had the cheeseburger and fries which I enjoyed. My husband had the fried seafood platter while our other friends had a salad and the salmon wrap. Everyone enjoyed their food. You cannot find a better location than this restaurant. You are over the beach and staring at the ocean. The prices weren't terrible and if the service was better we may have upped this review a star. read more

We were lucky enough to sit out on the pier, and the view was absolutely lovely watching the ocean while dining really made the meal feel special. TOURIST TRAP Bad service, we were a table of 3 and they gave larger tables higher priority - which is expected but here would be literally no service at all to us. To put it into perspective, once we ordered our water it took us 15 mins to get it and then 30 mins to get refills which is insane because they were not THAT busy. We got a bad view in the middle of the pier where we could barely see anything and we asked to be moved and they said this was the only place we could sit (even though there were 10+ tables that were open further down the pier). Then came the food. It was exorbitantly expensive for what we got. Very small portions and at a very high price. And to put it bluntly, it was just okay. I've gone to a lot cheaper restaurants and their food was much better even when they were serving similar things. Over all it was a horrible experience and reminded me more of a lobster all you can eat buffet in Myrtle Beach than it did a decent and original restaurant. Very much a tourist trap. read more

First of all, the place is gorgeous. Views are amazing, and there really isn't a bad seat in the restaurant. We came here for a business dinner. It's super romantic, and we commented that we wished our significant others were with us. The cocktails were good, not great. The sun-kissed shrimp appetizer was excellent. My entree had been sitting for awhile and was not hot when it came out. Fries were completely cold. The taste of the tacos was really good. My colleague said her salmon wasn't great, but the crab stuffing was good. We had to wait on drink refills and never got the ketchup we requested. Sat at the bar after laying on the beach all day and it was great. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. Enjoyed a strawberry margarita and delicious shrimp tacos. I got the shrimp blackened -- highly recommend. My friend had the burger and the grits and they were both yummy too. The real winner was the flourless chocolate cake, another gluten free dessert. I was so pleasantly surprised at how great our lunch was here today. For years, I thought the food was really subpar and you would dine here for the view. Twice in a row I have been wrong about that. Not Only is this the best view on the island, but the service and food were also wonderful! I had the mahi swimsuit special and it was probably the best mahi I have had in years. I asked for no butter, oil or dressing in it and it was perfect! I tried a bite of the calamari (which was huge) and it was also excellent. I'm rating them with 3 stars due to the food tasting bland. The crab was seasoned but not the salmon. The rice was just boiled white rice, quinoa not pilaf. And 4 asparagus as the mixed vegetables. The gumbo was OK. I actually ended up putting the white rice in the gumbo. That jazzed them both up. The waitress was pleasant but she was stretched between too many tables. About the only thing this place has going for it is the location. I used to love their hush puppies, but last night's basket was disgusting. Instead of a full basket of bite size, golden nuggets of joy, we were served about 4 globs of burnt grease balls! The wait staff is nice. But the kitchen is TOO slow. We waited an hour and a half to get our entrees which were room temperature when they arrived. Plus we were seated in an area where the overhead lighting didn't work, so as the sunset, so did our ability to see our food. My recommendation, just assume the worst, and you might be satisfied in the end. read more

Came to wrightsville for the weekend and this was the last stop before headed back. Unfortunately, we regretted the decision as the food was comparable to a hotel buffet. Not knocking hotel buffets, but for the price here I would expect a lot more. The tuna Poke was not fresh, and the wonton crisps were dark brown indicating that it was cooked in old oil. I got the egg, spinach and mushroom breakfast burrito and it was dry, lacking spinach and flavor. My gf got the American Grand Slam, her eggs were also dry, sausage was barely cooked, and home fries had no seasoning. We both did not finish and did not take any of the food to go, which is a first because we hate wasting food. The view outside was nice, however the pier was closed for repairs so we didn't get to explore much of it. If you do eat outside be aware of the pigeons as one was over our heads and left a nice little gift beside us lol luckily it didn't fall on us or the food. Our server, Teddy was great and we felt bad because the food was lackluster and we couldn't even hide our disappointment. I don't think we'll be headed back here as there were better spots. The atmosphere here is just amazing! I visited this place 3 times while I was in town for a week. I enjoyed the outdoor bar, the view of the ocean and beach goers, dining outside, and even the customer service. I was told they were short staffed because of the pandemic going on, but I could not tell as they were operating at top notch proficiency. I heard horror stories of people not tipping and being rude and acting like Karen's just because the birds were flying around you while you were eating. My thing is, if you didn't like the atmosphere, there were plenty other places to dine, or you could have dined inside. Tabitha Brown says, "If you're not having a great day, that's your business, but don't you DARE go messing up somebody else's!" The food was delicious! I'm a fan of their crab dip and sun kissed shrimp on the appetizer list. As you can see from my pictures, I like to spread the crab dip on that fresh buttered bread and add a few shrimp on top. The sesame seeds on the shrimp give that added texture element that works. I've been into fuzzy beers lately and they had a great selection that made my body tingle and me smile just a little harder. Living down by Seabreeze, I groan whenever anyone suggests Wrightsville Beach, especially on a sizzling summer day. But, my friend was staying there with her family and I agreed to meet her at the Oceanic. Wow, am I glad I did! I especially liked free parking for the restaurant, I avoid Carolina Beach because of this. I had a bowl of gumbo, truffle cheese fries and a sweet tea, it was so good. The Gumbo was a tomato-based Creole style gumbo. Not the dark roux, Cajun type I've had in New Orleans or I make. But, I'm trying to stop being so stupid rigid with foods. It was satisfying and tasty, I liked it. The fries were decadent, I was happy to split them with my friend, to keep from eating them all! I definitely want to go back with my hubs and kiddo to try brunch and dinner. I am happy to drive out to Wrightsville for the Oceanic! read more
