Very sick Gold fish, no movement and laying on his side .
    Kelli F.

Yesterday I was frantic when I found my 14 year old Goldfish floating upside down on his side and lifeless. I was fearing the worst, until I saw his eyes move when I spoke to him. He was still alive but was very sick. I called Oceans right away and spoke with David. He asked a few key questions to establish the situation then directed me to add aquatic salt to his tank stating that it works like an electrolyte for Goldfish. He also suggested Fish Keeper which they sell both at their store. Desperate to try and do what I could for my pet, I did just as he said. Using water from his tank , I dissolved the salt in a small pitcher and quickly added it to his water. Within seconds he responded and was jolted alive but returned to his side at the bottom of the tank. An hour later he slowly began to swim around then again only to returned to the bottom of the tank. Again on David's recommendation, I added the proper amount of Fish Keeper to his tank. Over the next 24 hours, he went from a floaty unstable swim, then to his back and then to his side several more times through the evening. This morning I am thrilled to report, he is no longer upside down, no longer on his side and seems to be looking for food as he normally does each morning. He's not out of the woods yet, but thanks to Oceans and David, I believe "Reef" could be on his way to a full recovery. Thank you David for taking my calls yesterday. Thank you Oceans for having attentive caring and knowledgeable staff. You have earned my business and my confidence for sure.!!! Thanks again David for all your help! KFrank

Great store with great service. They always seem to have that hard-to-find thing you're looking for. About 80% of what's in my tank is from Nolan's. At this point it's probably overstocked, but how can I help it with Nolan's amazing selection! Thanks guys!

i have been pretty intimidated with starting a fish keeping hobby. when coming here i had questions about cycling my first betta tank and what plants I should add. the girl working was super helpful and suggested a lot of great things. will be coming back to purchase a betta when my tank is fully cycled :)

Got my goldfish a fish bowl.

I came in without any knowledge on how to care for my goldfish I had recently acquired and the gentleman helping me was very knowledgeable and helpful. Great customer service!

Went there and bought six tiger barbs, and six green barbs within a week my whole tank had ich and it started with the fish I bought from them first

I can't say enough about this place. The staff are very friendly, educated about their work, and professional. They helped us start a beautiful saltwater tank and they have a beautiful selection of saltwater fish and coral.

My first recent try was to go the traditional route - heater, filter, bottles of water conditioner & beneficial bacteria, etc. etc. - when I unexpectedly happened upon an eye-opening You-Tube vid about the Walstad method (less homework & a more natural environment, the way God intended). So I returned all that other gear & am starting from scratch. Fernando eased My initial anxiety arriving as a total tank newbie, and gave Me a tour of the various low-maintenance plants I could start My nitrogen cycling with. Nolan - the Captain of this aquarium supplies ship - answered every one of My questions with patience & grace, did not talk down to Me or make Me feel stupid, and I left feeling happily hopeful that I might actually be successful in creating a fish-friendly safe & healthy environment. I am already envisioning My future fishy tenants, plus a snail & a sucker fish or two. Wish Me luck!! :-)

I've been to tongs, 8888, etc, trust me Nolan's is super clean. I came here for plants, they have a very large selection!!! My first time here was a few days ago - I got Hornwort, bolbitus, and dwarf water lettuce. They were all thriving. Hornwort fluffy and full! Also Thursday's is 25% off plants !! I came again today and brought a friend and she was also so happy we stayed there for like an hour just looking at everything. They have multiple rooms and a lot of tanks. The store seems small but it's not ; there's a lot of variety of fish, plants, and shrimp. Today there were red root floaters, one of the employees actually grew them - they were so healthy and super red I had to buy 3 cups !! I got more dwarf water lettuce bc my axolotl loved hanging in the roots. Staff today was super nice and helpful. There were 2 guys. It was extremely busy when I came like 10 people and they were helping everyone collaboratively. I hate when an employee only focuses on 1 customer who takes forever thinking and observing and there's a ton of ppl waiting. It wasn't like that here, the guy would answer a question and move on to another client. Also when the guy was fishing out some shrimp he was still talking to other customers and answering questions. I loved the vibe here. I will def be returning!!!!!

On my way in, I almost bumped into a man and when I said "oh" to acknowledge his presence, he remained silent as if I wasn't there. I merely assumed that he was a customer who was on his way out. When I entered, the same man came back in, and after observing him, I realized that he worked there. In my opinion, he appeared disengaged and disgruntled. It was my first time in a koi shop and I had many questions, so I approached him. I was curious about the price, complexity, and maintenance. The only aspect that I did enjoy was looking at the koi fish. The element that distinguished this particular experience was that he didn't hesitate to offer a sarcastic reply. When I inquired about the price of a particular koi pond, as innumerable customers have undoubtedly done in the past, he seemed visibly annoyed, and said it was like asking the price of a car at a large car dealership and followed up with "okayyy" which signaled to me a hyperbolic, sarcastic, and impatient tone. The reason I physically came in was to ask questions, as do others when they are unfamiliar with certain products. This is particularly of great importance to me since I am a teacher, and when I, myself, am presented with a question, I am solely focused on informing. Being condescending never crosses my mind, especially with a customer. Putting others down to feel more intelligent is usually a coping mechanism stemming from deep-seated insecurity. He was not only lackadaisical about his customer service, but categorically appeared annoyed by my presence. I almost felt like I was in a different country. We are trained in the United States to immediately greet the customer and offer ongoing assistance while being excited that they might be a potential buyer, but that was not my experience here. Afterwards, I wanted to discover whether others had similar experiences; therefore, I decided to read this business's Yelp reviews, and I found several that confirmed my experience. On their website, they state that "...we are always happy to help you in any way..." but, once again, that was not my experience. I felt compelled to Google him and discovered that he was a co-owner: Greg Zuccolotto. Luckily, I have many options in Southern California, and I won't be conducting business here. Best of luck!

It took 3 tries for them to clean my tank right and use correct media for my Fluval FX6 filter. A quick Google search told me more than than one of their employees could. On the last visit, one of the employees tells me that a rock was jamming the filter and that is why the tank was dirty so quickly after cleaning. However, she said she couldn't show me the rock because she threw it back in the tank! Seriously? Also, there is a grate on the intake that prevents rocks from being sucked up and she even acknowledged that it seemed impossible for that to happen. I'm not one to question someone's honesty or integrity, but the whole thing was fishy! Pardon the pun. Either way, even if the employee did not lie about the rock and it somehow miraculously got into my filter, the overall experience with this company has been very bad and to top it all off, they asked me to pay for one of the secondary visits to get my tank cleaned! I would steer clear of this company.

Six months into the house, our fish look healthy and the aquarium is still a beautiful addition to our Entry way. There is no way it would look like this without OC-FISH amazing service. Definitely a great company to work with.
