In the past when I shop for my pets I'm usually running around to multiple stores, because some have better prices than others and not all pet food stores carry the same items. Lately I have been coming here because even though they are more expensive than the bigger store names like Petco and Petsmart, they have been price matching for me, so I can get all my items in once place without having to pay the higher price tag, which I really appreciate (thanks Jennifer) and as long as it stays that way, they will continue to have all my business. I prefer to spend my money at smaller local stores anyway. In addition to that, when I'm there, the staff (thanks again Jennifer) is really good at asking you if you are finding what you need. And if you are not finding what you need, offering to order it for you and get it in stock. Customer service is sooooo important in any sales related job or business, but it is the #1 most overlooked thing by employees. When I am at the big stores like Petco or Petsmart, no employee ever asks if I'm finding what I need or offers to help. And even when you try getting any employee to help they can usually be hard to track one down or get one that doesn't seem annoyed to help. We are new dog owners and were shopping for a new harness as the ones we've been using have not been working well. The two ladies at the front were so helpful. They helped us try several harnesses to figure out what would work and the correct size. They didn't have the size/color we needed at this Pets Plus, so they called the other Pets Plus, then gave us directions so we were able to buy the perfect harness there. This is the place to go if you need something for your pet but aren't quite sure exactly what is your looking for . The employees here are glad to be of service . My dog suffers from allergies, so it was extremely difficult trying to find something that suits her needs. That's when I came here and was overly impressed with the amount of care and compassion i felt from the second I walked in the door. They start off by asking you general questions about your pet , that way they can offer you personalized recommendations that they feel will work best for you and your pet . They don't just show you 1 option , they offer you a few different options . They also explain each option in detail that way you feel confident when choosing the option that you feel will work best . They will even also you about certain brands you might have used in the past , if your dog has any health issues , and is there a certain price point that your working with .I have been in there a few time where they have even offered me free samples to take home and try . They don't push you into feel obligated to buy anything . If your purchasing something expensive and they have something they feel works even better and it's less expensive they will let you know . . . I have I was blown away with the amount of knowledge they had , and not just with the food , when it comes to health issues , grooming supplies , even accessories, they know their shit and are happy to help !! Getting the right thing for your pet can sometimes be overwhelming and there is nothing worse then going into a pet store with a thousand different options and having no idea where to start .If that's the case for you then I highly recommend giving this place a try . Oh and don't forget to ask them about their CBD treats because they are amazing and they typically have a sample bag so you can take them home and try them . I might have went a little over board with this review but when it comes to my dog I will do anything and they have been there for me numerous times when I had no idea what the hell I was doing . I have been a Pets Plus customer for the past 10 years, shopping for both my own pets and my foster pets. I especially like to shop at the Mission Viejo location because Jennifer is always so helpful. I have known her since I volunteered at a local animal rescue in San Juan Capistrano in 2013. From the moment I walked into the store I would always get a greeting/welcome to the store. I never have to wait long for her to help me and the vast amount of knowledge that she has is amazing. She is super-friendly and I can see that human and fur visitors appreciate her. For the past few months, I have also received the same great service from Felita and Ian. I recently adopted a new kitty so I'm currently searching for places to consistently shop at with the best prices. I found this place by accident while having coffee nearby. Wait I take that back. I just haven't had a need for a pet store so I guess this place hasn't stood out all that much until recently. The store is tiny but you'll be amazed by how much they've packed in there for all your pet needs. The prices are competitive and a bit pricey sometimes but the sales staff is very knowledgeable. I got a lot of answers to all my kitty questions especially since I'm a new Momma and they were able to find a decent scratching post with some catnip so that she wouldn't scratch up my chair. At the end of my visit, they gave me 15% off for being a new customer and walked my purchases to my car. I also love that I can return the items at any time as long as I keep the receipt. Other services they offer are an in home clinic, grooming, and other pet care. They will also trim your pets nails for free which is a huge bonus for me. read more

They no longer hold pet adoptions due to very strict 2014 Mission Viejo laws regarding pet adoptions, but they do hold a Low Cost Pet Vaccine & Wellness Clinic every Sunday from 3:30 to 5 PM. When I asked one of the staff about bringing my cat to the clinic, I got a lot of useful info. Definitely bring your cat in a carrier to the store...you don't want your cat to run away...occasionally there are some wild drivers outside the store. As usual, I got good service from knowledgeable people here. Just to let you know, they have a lot of goodies for dogs and other pets as well. I'm not sure if this is part of a chain, but it doesn't feel like it. It's a small pet store, they don't have a lot of live pets apart from rabbits and mice. They sell items for cats, dogs, mice, rabbits, a few fish items, but not much. There were 3 members of staff in an empty store. They were friendly, addressing me when I entered the store and one asked if she could help me, but I told her I was just browsing. If you like the large, superstore feel, don't come here. However, if you like the mom and pop style stores, this place is definitely for you. Parking sucks in this strip mall. Try not to go during the lunch rush! read more

Fantastic store! Stumbled into after some bowling at nearby Saddleback Lanes, and was having a look for what I could buy for my two, sweet wonderful kitties. Most smaller stores don't usually carry their food (Wellness, grain free) - BUT - hallelujah! Pets Plus did! While we were browsing the cat food, a really helpful associate came over and started talking to us about the benefits of raw food in place of the canned food as a part of their diet. I appreciated the educational lesson. (Unfortunately, one of my kitties wouldn't go near it.) In addition to actually carrying their food, their prices are fantastic. The little Wellness packets there are around $1.39 - $1.45, whereas at Petco (where we used to go), are $1.89 - $1.99. Great selection of healthy food for our kitties. This is my favorite pet store by far. If they don't have something they will find it and get it for you. I just bought a adorable brown fur coat with a fur collar and pattern on back and Velcro so they will never get stuck. For my small adorable chihuahua Rusty. I also got him a new harness that they can't get stuck in either and is Velcro at top and camo print then latch at top with double loop for leash. My dog loves it. I also love they're food and treat selection and Xl potty pads work very well They also have some of the best dog beds I have ever seen including a natural dome style that keeps them warm or cool. In all kind of sizes. They also have a Vacine clinic that will save you the most money and some of the best reasonable cost flea control available. Hello, I will not be coming back here ever ! Pet plus employees have told me numerous of time to look for their coupon in the mail or added it will save me a few dollars ($2.00 to 10.00) dollars depending on what you purchase, (half the time I forget it) they always tell me come back with coupon and receive credit added back to the card. I don't, who has the time, mind you I have been going here for years, to support local business. I have a cat his food is 30. Little bag & my dog is 80 lb his food is 47. Today I go the family, tells me don't forget the coupon! So proud of myself, I have the coupon! The girl employee that started ringing me up, said; "ohhh the coupon is expire." I said; oh dear I've been told in the pass as long as you have a coupon from us even if it's expire, will accepted the coupon, it's good. She said; " Aaaaa No" So Needless to say I said; ok can you cancel this purchase, I have been told something different each time my family and I come here. Frustrated! After shopping at Traider Joe's and driving around the center I came across this place. Not sure how I had not noticed it before (must be that i just got 2 dogs) I decided to stop by and check it out. To my surprise this place has so much to offer and the cashiers working there are super friendly. As i walked inside they where quick to greet me, and ask if I needed any help. I spend some time talking to the cashier and he let me know of a clinic (trinity off of Alicia Pkwy) that I could take my dogs to. He mention how he took his cats there and they wouldn't charge you and arm and a leg. He even gave me some free sample food for both of my dogs called "Replenish" to try out. The staff here is super knowledgeable. My 5 month old puppy had been vomiting every day for over a week and I made a trip to the vet. I left the vet only knowing her calcium levels were high and her protein levels were low. I was told to come back if she was still sick in a few days because she might have a blockage in her digestive tract. I came to Pet's Plus to get new treats and higher protein food. One of the staff members (I wish I knew her name) suggested that the vomiting might be a result of rancid food - something my vet didn't even think of. She asked where I had been storing the food, and sure enough, heat and an inadequate seal on the food storage container were the culprits. She said that even dry food can go rancid; If you buy a huge bag of it (and your dog is not actually huge), by the time you get to the end of the bag, the oils in the food start to go bad. Combine that with sun exposure and you've got all kinds of harmful bacteria in the food. I bought a Vittles Vault food storage container and a fresh (plus smaller) bag of food and she was fine within a few days. I wish I would have come here before spending $200 at the vet. read more

This review is strictly for the items I returned. I also hate giving poor reviews but from the lack of empathy and customer service I feel I must. I first came here because my sister recommended it to me to buy a specific kind of dog food for a puppy I was going to adopt. I came here and found a great selection of items from dog food, supplies, toys and teething bones. I purchased everything I needed for the little guy very quickly with no problems. When at the register I spoke with a friendly employee who offered to open up an account with them. She told me the benefits; one benefit was that you can look up items you have purchased if you did not have the receipt. I thought this was great so I signed up. I don't even recall receiving a receipt from the cashier, but was not worried because she assured me I would be able to look up the items from the system. Fast forward a couple of days... Under the circumstances I was not able to obtain the puppy :( So I needed to return the items I purchased. I entered the store feeling a sense of relief that I can easily return the items I recently purchased because I recently signed up in their system. Boy was I wrong. I was told I must have the receipt to get my cash back. I told the man at the register I am in the system and the previous employee told me I can return the items with no problem just by looking up my phone number. The man completely ignored what I just said and didn't seem to care what anyone told me, but he did look up the items through the system. I noticed there was a receipt right on the screen, my receipt with the exact items I was returning. A question to management: What's the difference between this clear receipt on the screen and my paper receipt that I never received? With no choice I ended up taking the store credit which will now be useless to me. Your customer service is horrible, at least listen to what a customer has to say. Please do not encourage me to sign in your system if you will not honor what you say. read more

We have always been well taken care of here (both us and our rabbit-they clip his nails for a nominal fee). The staff greets you when you walk in and always offers to carry your large dog food bags out to your car. We have a dog as well as a rabbit, and they have been helpful when we've had questions about either. We have forgotten my coupons a few times, but if we bring the coupon and receipt back within a few days, they give us cash for the coupon. They also suggest which coupons will benefit you the most. We have never had an issue here, and love supporting local businesses! We find the employees engaging and nice. We have found things here that aren't at other stores, which is nice because this is the closest pet store to our house. read more

The staff is always friendly, and obviously are "Pet People," as we nearly always end up in a conversation about pets, even though we mostly come in for mealworms for our turtle! I have bought specialized dog and cat food when I'm pet-sitting my daughter's pets, and they're always helpful. This is a great little "neighborhood pet store." I love coming here for the great customer service but, I guess the store owners/corporate have no longer accepted their Money Mailer coupons for 1.00 of a purchase of 2.00 or more. I used to come in here and get enough crickets daily just because of it. This is drawn me away from Pets Plus to go shop elsewhere that will take competitor coupons (aka Petco or Sand Bar Pet Shop across the street). So after visiting pets mart in Aliso viejo and rude workers seemed miserable i started Looking for more somewhat close pet stores and this one popped up while i was On that side of town . Went in and the young man helped me find my Chewie a no raw hide treat ( he let him smell them all and of course my boy picked out the most expensive one lol) bought him a whole bag and it's his favorite new chew bones and i got to sleep all night instead of him wanting me to play at 3am! Ha plus the young man gave him a free big no raw hide treat to go and lady at the front gave him some jerky while i checked out !
