    Breakfast Galette
    Elizabeth G.

This might just be one of my favorite cafes now! The interior was beautiful and felt cozy. They had limited tables outside. The service workers were so incredibly friendly. More so than what you have come to expect these days. The food here is phenomenal! I had a breakfast galette that was so delicious. I also took home a slice of basque cheesecake that I'm itching to try. I got one of their seasonal drinks, an iced Neapolitan Mocha. I don't think I've drank a coffee faster! I can't begin to describe how tasty it was. Everything impressed me. I can't wait to go back! Now I need to try everything they offer haha Overall rating: 5/5 stars

Fantastic place to grab an espresso coffee option. The place was busy and clearly a fav of many. It's not far off the freeway, so it's an easy detour. I got my usual hot latte. The standard was whole milk but I asked to a mix of lower fat milk. No problem. Coffee was delicious. Vibe was chill. Nice stop.

We love this place! Really good quality bakery, pastry and breakfast dishes! We love the jalapeño cheddar scones, sausage rolls, cinnamon rolls and stuffed breakfast pastry items. Always fresh and tastes amazing! Friendly efficient staff. Enjoy whenever we get to make a visit.

I adore this place, I will leave review after review because it's just such a great vibe and atmosphere. Coffee cake muffin was great but the breakfast focaccia was amazing, loved the soft-boiled eggs inside of it! The iced mocha is probably the best I have ever had. I hope to make this my new go to place once a week. :) service is always amazing and everyone is always so kind.

Had to check this out after seeing the great reviews. Really enjoyed my London Fog and broccoli-cheddar quiche. Misunderstood other review. Thought you could get made to order sandwiches; that is not the case. Most everything is made fresh in the morning and then that's what's available. So this is not a place for eggs & bacon, but instead grab a slice of breakfast focaccia. Took home Nutella muffin for kiddo and received great feedback. Can't wait to see how the cherry scone & turkey breakfast sandwich do. And yes, the fire is super cozy, especially on this rainy day. Comfy couch, too!

The atmosphere felt genuine and community-driven. The food was the highlight-easily one of the most creative, thoughtful, and flavorful breakfast experiences I've had in the area in a long time. The originality of the dishes really stood out. The grits, in particular, were excellent-something that's surprisingly easy to get wrong, but they executed perfectly. One of the most impressive aspects was the takeout quality. I ordered a meal to go and didn't eat it until 15-20 minutes later, yet it still held up incredibly well-no reheating needed. That level of consistency is hard to achieve. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot to friends and colleagues. Ended up waiting 22 min. For a party of two, we shared the biscuits and gravy and the Ohio Cheesy Grits. The biscuits and gravy were great--can totally see why this is popular. The biscuit was moist and fresh. The eggs were soft and cheesy. And the gravy sauce was addicting. Ended up adding their homemade sausage for an additional $3 which was decent but I'd probably go without it next time. 5/5 Ohio cheesy grits were also good--tasted different from the savory biscuits and gravy especially with the corn. The panko crusted chicken thigh was a good addition 4.5/5 Seating limited which is why there was a wait. Good modern casual ambience. What makes Scratch's French toast so good is that they don't use plain old white bread for it. Instead, they use sweet bread pudding, which makes for an utterly decadent and delicious breakfast. The pieces of bread pudding had crisp edges while being soft on the inside. They were topped with sliced bananas and a rich bourbon caramel sauce, and served with maple syrup infused whipped cream that was almost practically ice cream. The French toast also comes with your choice of sausage or pork belly. I opted for the sausage patties, which were tasty and homemade. I also ordered the orange juice ($4.50) and home fries ($3.75). The home fries were delicious. Crispy potato chunks that were the right amount of salty. Between the French toast and home fries, I left stuffed. Service was also great. My server was very friendly and welcoming, and came to check on me a couple of times. Notes - it's a small place with a couple of tables, but I was able to take a seat right away on a Friday morning. I met a friend for breakfast this morning, and everything from start to finish was spot on. I ordered the Sweet Jalapeño Sandwich: an English muffin piled with jam, bacon, an egg cooked over medium, and cheddar, served with home fries. It was the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and just a little kick. My friend stuck with her usual: the Banana & Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding French Toast, topped with fresh bananas and their homemade bourbon caramel sauce, plus a side of pork belly. It looked incredible and, according to her, tasted just as good as it always does. We arrived just a few minutes after they opened at 8:00 and were seated right away. The service was friendly, attentive, and very prompt without feeling rushed. Scratch has such a great casual, local diner feel, but with a menu that's anything but ordinary. The portions are generous, the flavors are unique, and the quality is consistently excellent. Definitely a go-to spot for breakfast or brunch...you really can't go wrong here.

Beyond the food, every plate looked like a work of art. You could tell the kitchen artists take immense pride in presentation without sacrificing flavor. We had to ask for regular, and I know that's not a huge deal but not everyone wants a flavored creamer so why not have a couple to choose from already out? At least 15-20 minutes later she returned, she had forgotten about us. I should mention there was enough staff out front and it wasn't busy. Ok, fine. I ordered there social breakfast and my husband made his own omelet. Not much to choose from. He initially wanted cheese, sausage, onion and green peppers. They don't have green peppers but have jalapeños. He asked what they do have and she mentioned mushrooms and cucumbers. He passed on any other veggie. We got our breakfast within reasonable time. My scrambled eggs, home fried and bacon were quite dry. My husbands omelet was without cheese and our waitress finally came over to ask how things were and left quickly so my husband couldn't say anything. A coffee shop that I can easily visit between hikes in a national park? Heck yes!…read more I stopped by the Peninsula Coffee House and Market during a weekend trip to Cuyahoga Valley National Park this year. I was lucky and snagged a parking space in front of the business; their parking is VERY limited and I'm surprised I didn't have to use a lot that was across a bridge. (Note that the bridge is right by the coffee shop, so it wouldn't have been a long trek at all.) I ordered a Butterscotch Latte and a Sausage, Biscuit & Egg breakfast sandwich; snagged a seat near the front of the store; and settled in for a relaxing break between my hikes. The coffee was excellent and the sandwich really hit the spot! While seating in the lower level is limited, I've learned reading other reviews that there is an outdoor patio and an upper level too. Their website mentions that they run a sundry market here too; however I didn't spend much time shopping in the interest of not stretching my wallet too far during my travels. I also didn't check out the wine cellar in the lower level. While this shop is little, it clearly has a lot to offer, and I am so glad I found it during my visit to Cuyahoga. I'd absolutely stop by again during future visits to the area...and I'd love to time my next visit so I can check out that wine cellar!
