TL;DR Just hire Matthew! DO NOT USE Command Strips to hang your framed photos! A frame fell and did this damage to the window sill. I reached out to several people here on Yelp. Matthew was the only one that asked for more pictures than I originally sent. The original thought was to replace the entire ledge. I retained OC Handyman for the replacement of a very old attic light fixture. The textured plastic screen of the fixture was old, discolored, and cracked. It was also installed into the frame of the fixture that made alteration difficult. I inquired about services with dozens of handymen and electricians - many just proposed scrapping the fixture and putting a new one in (at higher cost), and others weren't interested in the work. Matthew with OC Handyman responded promptly after I sent him some photos and was very clear with his price. A few days later, he showed up, took a look at the fixture, made a trip to the hardware store, and 30 minutes later my fixture was fixed and looked like new. 5/8/21 I reached out to my top 3 Yelp handymen to request an estimate for some jobs around the house. Matthew was the most responsive and we quickly set up a date to meet. He came to the house on 5/11/21 while many things were going on with renovations and still kept a smile despite of walking 4 houses down for parking. We did a quick walk around the house and he provided me with some points and tips on what he felt would be a more cost effective and bang for my buck. He asked for a week to get the estimate to me and he did. Work requested: foundation sealing, barn door, door repairs. I let him know my barn door system was delayed for end of may and would be reach out to him once I received it. Beginning of June, I reached out to Matthew again to let him know the door came and it was ready for install. I had to prioritize this project for now due to budget restraints. He set up a date and time for install. 6/10/21 appointment 9am. He showed up on time with a smile on his face and even brought a piece of header wood for my door. I purchased a wider one the night before but it was about 3 inches to short. Matthew patiently explained why my wood piece wouldn't work and offered to pick one up for me if I was very set on the width. He and his brother went to purchase another piece but still ending up using the original thinner one he brought. The lesson: trust your handyman when they recommended something. Otherwise, you will end up with un-used material and wasted time on both ends. I didn't get a chance to be fully present for install due to moving a house. Matthew kept me informed via phone during my absence. Matthew did wait for me to check the end result and make sure I was satisfied with it. The barn door in front of my master bathroom is simply amazing. I love it so much and the end result superseded my expectations. Matthew and his brother completed the barn door install, and header painting for a very reasonable price. I have another pending project awaiting confirmation. Matthew is professional and does a great job for a good price! I don't usually trust handymen to do the work cuz I've had bad experiences, but he is honestly as good as a general contractor! He quickly installed my bathroom LeD lights, paintings, and curtain rod. He even repaired my cabinet defects which noone else could do. General contractors said job was too small or they had minimum price which was several hundred $ or other handymen didn't do cabinet work.
