OneBlood is an excellent organization and has many mobile blood mobiles as well as locations throughout South Florida. This is my second time donating with OneBlood. I had a very nice technician Belinda who was very concerned about my comfort throughout the entire process. For those of you who've never given blood; the process is not that bad. These technicians really knowledgeable and skillful. So please thoughtfully consider giving blood. Update: After testing positive for COVID-19 antibodies, I went back and donated my plasma. I had no symptoms guys so please keep wearing your mask. Everyone at OneBlood was so nice throughout the entire procedure. Yes, it's long but it's for a great cause. read more

My doctor told me I had too much hemoglobin and in order to reduce it would be required to have a phlebotomy done. Yup, that's the old bloodletting routine that leaches and barbers once performed. It's the procedure in which red blood cells are removed from the body in a manner similar to donating blood. When red blood cells are taken out of the body, it lowers hemoglobin levels. So, the ultimate results are the same as with the barbers and leaches, but we now have some really skilled phlebotomists which is what lead me to OneBlood. OneBlood is not only used for phlebotomy but also for taking blood donations. It's really super clean, everything is so very orderly and the staff is not only super knowledgeable about what they are doing but friendly as well. I was really uptight about all this, but they put me at ease. First they gave me a simple blood test by pricking my finger in order to assure that the phlebotomy was necessary. In my case it was, but I shouldn't have been in fear. I assumed a comfortable seat on a couch like table where my arm was prepared for the bloodletting. To my astonishment I never felt the needle go into my arm and when the procedure was done, I had absolutely no bruises whatsoever. That to me was real testament as to how professional the people at OneBlood are as every time I normally have blood drawn, I end up with a horrid bruising along with a number of failed stab wounds. read more

It was really easy to make an appointment to donate blood through their website. When I arrived to the donation center I was nervous about what the conditions may have been like due to Covid, but the center was in pristine condition and impeccably clean. Even the pen was sanitized before I used it! Melinda was a great nurse and made the entire process go as smooth as possible. I ended up feeling lightheaded at the end of my donation and both nurses attended to me and made sure I was okay before leaving. Donated before with no issues. However, recent donation attempt went badly. The male lab tech said he found a vein. Waited a minute or so while he was doing something else, while I kept my hand in a fist. Then, he did not re-check for a good vein and just "jabbed" me and not where he said he'd found the vein previously. The pain was excruciating, so the process ended. I have never had a problem with anyone finding a good vein and I have NEVER bruised giving blood. Sadly, due to this experience I will never donate again!!! read more

I have been a blood donor for over 25 years (5+ gallons) and this was one of the better donation experiences. The bloodmobile came to the office and with nothing better to do (not), I had to pay a visit. I had missed the initial crowd so I had everyone's attention. Now I don't have a problem donating but they only get one shot at finding the vein... not rooting around. Thank goodness for Elaine. She was amazing! If they come back, I will make a point of asking for her and if she's busy, I'll wait. Everyone was very nice and efficient. The bloodmobile itself was not the newest or most comfortable equipped and I'm not referring to the seating. I've been in others that have overhead screens with movies streaming. This one did not have that distraction but Elaine stayed close-by for a nice conversation. There are only a couple of companies doing blood collection at this point and I've had positive experiences with OneBlood. Do something good for the community! read more

I have been going to the same location in Oakland Park for almost 9 years. I always make my next appointment before leaving, had to cancel the same day of my last appointment because my dog was sick. Called today 12/24/2018 and was told they had no availability but YET almost every time I am in the office, MAYBE one other client is there as well, if THAT. Most of the time I am the only client. They refused to attempt to squeeze me in and suggested I go to the Emergency Room if I felt the need. So rude, unprofessional and just plain disgusting. However, they have time to talk about what they watched on TV the night before. I was told by one worker after OneBlood started requiring appointments that they were being MADE TO do it but they could easily take care of a "walk in". I called Orlando within 5 minutes of the issue. Let's see the follow up, if any!!! Merry Christmas to me from such a horrible organization that treats people such as I was treated this morning. I hope no employee of OneBlood is ever given such POOR customer service. I had donated a few times in the bus, and always came out with bruising on my arm that lasted for days. I figured that was just the price to pay, although I have donated blood elsewhere without bruises. They asked me if I would donate platelets, and I agreed, not realizing how much more of an ordeal it was. They had my full history, including how many children I had. After a long and painful process, where your arms are strapped down so you can't move them for an hour, I needed their help to bend my arms when I was released. During the process, they put on a TV for me and checked to make sure I was warm and comfortable. I really felt that my pain and time was worth it to give some really sick people the platelets they needed. What really upset me was the email I got later saying that they could not use the donation, because of the number of children I had which apparently leaves hormones in the platelets that make it unsuitable for donation. THEY HAD THIS HISTORY BEFORE THEY ASKED ME TO DONATE. I was planning to donate blood every time I was able but will never go back to OneBlood again. Go elsewhere to donate - OneBlood cannot be trusted. read more

Saw on the news that there is a blood shortage and that donations were needed. I made appointments for 3 people at 2:00 and showed up on time. Upon arrival, we were told they were at capacity very rudely by a big black lady. Obviously with the coronavirus right now, I understand the rules, regulations, and that they were at capacity. Safety is important, but she did not need to be so rude. We were told to return in 30 minutes, so we went to publix and returned around 2:30. This time, we stood outside for 15 minutes and she did not even come to the door to tell us how long it would be or apologize for the wait. I tried to do a good thing today, and if you are working in a blood donation center I think you should be a little nicer. People do not have to give blood, and you are driving the good people away. Waste of my day and I didn't even get to help out. read more
