I'm writing this while sitting in the lobby, still waiting to be seen after more than two hours. I've been coming here since February, back when this place was new and barely known--getting in and out was quick and easy. Now, it's a completely different story. The place is packed, but it's clearly not staffed to handle the increased volume. As I write this, there are only two workers on the floor. The first two rows of donors are full, eight more people are still waiting to donate, two are waiting just to be screened--and it's already past 5 PM, which is supposed to be closing time. This isn't the fault of the staff--they're overwhelmed and doing their best. But this location seriously needs more support. I've been here for hours, haven't donated, and I still have an hour-long drive home. My entire day is gone. read more

I had came today to donate plasma for the second time. I will say the first time ran relatively smoothly. However, my second time was so bad that it just cancels out my first visit. For one, when the finger-prick test was done on me, there was dried up blood all over my finger and the guy gave me an alcohol wipe and bandaid. I'm not saying I deserve special treatment but isn't it your job to prick my finger and clean up any leftover blood. That was the least of my worries though. So I get seated and I was asked if it was my first time because there was no mark on my arm. The first time they did it on my left arm even though I told them I was left handed. This time I had the lady who helped me put the needle in my right arm. She was trying to find the right place to insert it and when she did, she briefly mentioned how she was going to check it again or see if it needed to be moved. Honestly I couldn't hear her because she had a mask, but regardless she said it was fine and just walked away so I assumed everything was good. After a while I felt pressure on my arm and when I looked down, it looked like my arm was puffing up. I wasn't sure what was going on so I raised my arm for some assistance but nobody was coming over. The guy next to me saw and raised his hand up as well to get some more attention. Finally someone came over and I showed them my arm. The girl said that the needle must've came out and said she just needed to get some gloves. At this point I'm feeling very dizzy and nauseous. These people were taking their sweet time and clearly did not care about me. Yet they wasted no time to tell me "don't worry, this is normal". If this was "normal", then they'd warn you about something like this happening on your first visit. This isn't me tying to sound entitled either, it's me saying that I'm on the brink of passing out and these people are moving like they have nowhere to be. I'm hearing "I need to remove this needle", but it felt like they were taking ten years to do it. I'm sweating and feeling like I'm on the verge of throwing up. I had a girl fanning me, giving me gatorade to drink, and asking me questions to keep me up. Once I started feeling fine again, I sat up and felt nauseous again. I then get told that they have to call Ems to take me to the hospital because my blood pressure was too low. I started crying because you're telling me I might have to go to the hospital and pay those fees because of a mistake they made?! Once Ems showed up, they just checked my blood pressure and asked if I wanted to go to the hospital and I said no. They said it looked like as long as I rested there for a while then I should be okay to drive home, but if I were to feel nauseous again then to pull to the side of the road. Once they left, they wasted no time to have me sign a paper saying that they had called Ems, but I chose not to go to the hospital, therefore removing any responsibility from them if something were to happen to me. I just found it really sketch that you're having a nauseous girl who suffered from severe blood loss, who drove here alone sign that paper. Shortly after, she had me stand up and said she was going to walk me to the door. News flash, she didn't, we walked a couple steps from where you donate the plasma. They were clearly seeing the situation as an inconvenience and they didn't really care if I was okay. I didn't even get an apology from the lady who put the needle in my arm or just an apology overall. Don't come here for an average $75, that's how much I got for my first visit and then $125 for today. (Matter a fact, I heard them tell the person next to me that they were getting 60 or 65?) 100% no worth it. I'm typing this around two hours later. My arm is severely sore and it's looking bruised. Overall a very awful experience. I will never be donating again. I just took off the bandage in the photo attached. read more

When you come to donate make sure you have time it is a time consuming, but it's a good cause. Honestly, everyone that works there is pretty nice. Great communication with customers. I had had surgery on my way home and unfortunately couldn't find any beans at previous plasma centers and after a pretty good thing that they use basically every time now so I'm able to tell you something thankful for that. And anytime that I felt sick late immediately came into my care. read more

Octopharma Misplaces or Mishandles Blood Samples I had previously failed a protein or iron test at the Octapharma in Colton about 1.5 years ago, so I stopped donating there. Recently, the Riverside Octapharma location opened, and they called to invite me to donate again. I accepted their invitation and went in, only to be told that I couldn't donate because of my failed test from 1.5 years ago. From my experience, other plasma donation centers in Riverside do not consider such an old test result relevant. However, Octapharma insisted that I take a new blood test and wait 7 to 10 business days for the results. They assured me they would call. I agreed and provided a blood sample. The Waiting Game Seven days passed. Then ten. Then fifteen. No call. I went to the center to check on my results. The staff member who assisted me found it odd that they weren't ready yet, so he consulted his supervisor. After investigating, they discovered that someone at the lab had mishandled or lost my blood sample. The staff member informed me of the mistake: Oops! We messed up your blood sample. Do you want us to take another one? At this point, I had no interest in donating at a facility that mishandles blood samples. Lack of Accountability While I was there, I overheard the staff member politely ask his supervisor if I should be compensated for the wasted time and inconvenience caused by their mistake. I appreciated his effort to advocate for me. The supervisor's response? Loud enough for me to overhear: "No, unless you want it to come out of your own paycheck." Followed by laughter. Like the situation was funny to her. Final Thoughts This experience makes me question Octapharma's professionalism and care for their donors. If they can't properly handle blood samples, how can donors trust their overall process? I won't be returning. read more

Like the other reviews say, the wait is way too long for what they pay. 2-3 hours, for $60? When they showed me $65-$75 in the app? There's better ways to make money than getting a needle jabbed in your arm and told you're worthless. read more
