Food is good but for the price tag you'd expect better service. One time my husbands drink didn't come for 40 minutes, we were done eating and ready to go by the time it arrived. The next time his burger was underdone (pink all the way through when he asked for medium well) and after he sent it back, they still didn't cook it through. My food has been great but the portion sizes are a bit small, I don't typically eat a lot but I've never had leftovers and sometimes haven't even been full. A friend from the area recommended Odette, and it did not disappoint. The food was outstanding! I had the "deviled farm eggs two ways" as an appetizer, and they were quite tasty. For my meal I had the pickle-brined chicken sandwich with roasted apple and pumpkin soup. Both were absolutely delicious! The chicken breast was battered and fried--very crispy and not greasy at all. The roasted poblano slaw gave the sandwich a nice flavor and texture. The roasted apple and pumpkin soup with toasted pecans and cheddar was amazing. I think this place has the absolute BEST freshly ground hamburgers. They have good food, service and atmosphere all around. The only complaint is the owner has never visited our table when we are in the restaurant. I have seen her go from table to table, but never ours. It's a little off-putting. Even if she knows the customers she's speaks to, we are repeat customers as well. Make it a point to talk to everyone, even if it's only a "hi, how are you enjoying your evening?" On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, I attended a special event at Odette Restaurant. "A Tasting of Fine Bourbons" featured 6 very rare bourbons and a wonderful meal prepared by the chefs of Odette. The host and master of ceremonies, Brian Lovejoy, was very knowledgeable and did a great job with bourbon selections and all the details of this event. The chefs Josh Quick and John Cartwright also prepared a sumptuous selection of foods to compliment the bourbons. Of the six bourbons, only one is currently produced. In order of tasting, Old Fitzgerald (Stitzel-Weller) 1966-1972, 100 proof; Blanton's Straight from The Barrel, 2004-2013, 127.3 proof; Pappy Van Winkle 23 year, 1993-2016, 95.6 proof; Jim Beam 8 Pin, 1944-1952, 86.8 proof; President's Choice, For Distinguished Gentlemen, 1960-1968, 90.3 proof; and a pre-prohibition bottle of Old Grandad, 1917-1932, 100 proof. Appetizers were served with the first three tastings- Thick-Cut Molasses Bacon, Deviled Eggs, Buttermilk and Angel Biscuits, fried Chicken Skins with Poblano Pimento Cheese, and Red Eye BBQ Ribs. Every appetizer was exceptional, without exception. The main course followed the fourth tasting and consisted of three different small servings all served on one plate somewhat tapas style. All were well prepared and I heard nothing but raves from everyone around me about the food. Roasted Duck Hot Brown with Bacon-Tomato Jam, Prime Rib with Horseradish Cracker & Herb Jus and Hoisin Roasted Salmon with New Potato Salad, Pickled Onions & Sorghum Vinaigrette complimented each other and the bourbon in an interesting manner. It was like a fine-dining meal three course meal. Deserts accompanied the final two bourbons served family style. Pecan Pie, Caramel Cake and Burnt Honey Pineapple Upside Down Cake were all delicious and a fine finish to a wonderful meal. The majority of people in attendance appeared to be younger adults, mostly male, who were passionate about a new hobby, collecting and tasting bourbon. I will admit I found it was somewhat ironic to me going to a fine bourbon tasting in North Alabama. The history of our area has not been kind to an appreciation of fine liquors. Growing up in Mississippi, I attended college in the 1960's and Mississippi had not repealed prohibition at that time. The only bourbon available was from a bootlegger and there were two bourbon choices- Old Crow for $5 or for the discriminating, Jack Daniels for $10. Bourbon and Coke was the preferred cocktail. Alabama was not much better. Alcohol distribution and sale was then and still is controlled by the state. During this time period, bribes and kickbacks were widely reported to be the determining factor in the brands sold in state liquor stores. I remember a visit to a liquor store in Alabama was like never-never land with many more choices and variety but few nationally known popular brands. Most of the liquor were "dog" brands that weren't sold elsewhere. Most national distillers would not pay kickbacks during that time period. As the evening progressed, conversations and the level of sound grew louder. It was obvious the evening was very enjoyable to everyone attending. It is wonderful to see a town supporting a local event and a restaurant doing such an exceptional job. I will be on the lookout for similar events in the future. read more

I am traveling through Florence and asked the front desk attendant about this place. She said it was a farm to table restaurant and it was good. I always try to support local places so I decided to give them a shot. The place was busy, I sat at the bar. The bartender took my drink order quickly and gave me a menu. I had to flag her down to order my dinner after 10-15 minutes. Ordered the special - sirloin steak with potatoes and creamed spinach. This is where everything went south. Half of the potatoes were cold and the steak was by far the toughest cut of meat I have ever eaten. Couldn't finish it. Not one person asked me how the food was. I talked with the manager hopefully this won't happen to the next person. She took the steak off my ticket but I don't get the hour that I wasted at this place. Seemed like a nice place to eat as we'd hit most of the other restaurants on the main strip in Florence. But upon entry while discussing the menu with the hostess we were accosted by very rude and angry bartender or manager type telling us to get out immediately or put our masks on. We had them and planned on doing so if they were required. We probably would have stayed if he was just nice about it, like...welcome to our restaurant could you please wear a mask? So, let's talk about this chicken and waffles. It's missing from the picture because it was inhaled. This is easily the best chicken and waffles I have ever had. The crust on the chicken was the perfect level of crunch and the rice waffle was awesomely satisfying. I will be back! read more

We were in Flo Town last week and dropped in for a late lunch. The staff was great and the restaurant had a cool vibe. Our waitress was delightful and gave us a few pointers. I settled on the fried catfish with orange remoulade with greens and mac & cheese (the catfish is the friday lunch special - and it was special!). Everything was great, the catfish was perfect and flaky and the remoulade was fire! Kellz went with the veggie plate of mac, potato cakes, broccoli & beans. All were amazing - fresh and flavorful. To top it all off, we decided to go with the chocolate cake with passion fruit ice cream. Nothing says friday like desert at lunch and this hit the mark. The cake and ice cream married up perfectly but what set it off were the Rice Crispies sprinkled on the cake - awesome! As good Southern cooking as I have had. Odette. My oh my, how I love you. Odette is heaven in the form of a restaurant. I've put off writing this review because I cannot do this place justice. Basically, all you need to know is that this place is AMAZING. I normally order one of their seafood dishes, all of which have been thoroughly impressive. I have also tried a few of their signature drinks. Each drink has been well balanced and exactly as I hoped they'd be. In a smaller city such as Florence there are a handful of great places to eat downtown. Odette fit the bill today for a late lunch. We were pleased to see the staff greet us with a smile, despite coming in between lunch and dinner hours. I ordered the hot chicken biscuit, with a fried egg and gravy. The chicken was perfectly fried and had just the right amount of gravy on top. I didn't think the chicken was very "hot", but i'm used to a good amount of heat. The balsamic vin garnish was a nice touch and went well with the tomato and fried egg onboard. I had a sweet tea with lemon, witch had large cubes of ice and I also had water on the side. They use a fancy carafe to serve water in. For dessert we split a gingerbread cookie sandwich with cream inside (think oatmeal cream pie but incredible). This was excellent and quite sweet. If you are looking for an intimate but incredible meal in downtown florence, give them a try! read more

What an adorable restaurant in an adorable downtown area. I miss small town living! My husband and I came to Odette while in the area for a short getaway. I had done my Yelp research and Odette was at the top of my list. Decent prices, interesting drinks, food that piqued my interest and an expansive bar?! Yes, please!! We arrived around 7:45 and were seated right away. After being in the sun all day I was parched and the waiter was nice enough to leave the entire carafe of water for me. It's the simple things I appreciate! We order the pulled pork stuffed peppers as an appetizer and look over the menu. We're given house bread and corn muffins with soft homemade butter. It's a full house this Friday night and there are a lot of people having a very good time at very high volumes. I ebbe and flow between loving all the laughter and being slightly irritated I can hardly hear my husband. People like your restaurant, what can you do? It's a good problem to have!! When our appetizer arrives we order some drinks (even though I planned on trying something new, a gin martini just sounded perfect for me). The stuffed peppers came with four half peppers that had a lot of flavor and delicious sauce and vegetable paring. The only curiosity I had was about the pork itself. It was cubed, not pulled. It was still tasty and delicious but I think I would've preferred pulled pork (as advertised) in this dish. For our main courses we decide on the burger with an egg for my husband and the steak frites with chimichurri for myself. Both entrees came out perfectly cooked and delicious! I think I would've been okay with about triple the chimichurri on the steak with a vat of chimichurri dipping sauce for my fries. The garlic herbs in oil is just my favorite when done right and Odette was on point! Why do we always do this?! We both want dessert but we've had too much already and have to pass. It's a bummer because, based on the meal we've just had, I'm sure it would've been interesting, done perfectly, and made us very happy. But we've passed the point of no return and decide to turn down dessert. Maybe we'll come back the next night for dessert and drinks only! Wow. I live in Birmingham and always eat at Odette when I am working in the area. The deviled eggs are the best I've ever had. The daily specials are good and the burger and fontina Mac n cheese is phenomenal Cool and unique drink menu and great atmosphere. You won't be disappointed. read more

The decor was modern and very tastefully done. The staff friendly... The food was on the gourmet side. We had the deviled eggs appetizer, and pumpkin arepa. Both delicious. Then we had the burger and a quinoa buckwheat Brussels sprouts salad. My son had the baked fish with white beans and fries. It was all delicious though I was left looking for a little crunch to break up the monotony of the fish on the kids plate. I did notice that the place while the first appearance was clean... The more I looked the more I saw that it needed a good cleaning. There were cobwebs on nearly every light fixture on the walls. It gave me cause to wonder if the kitchen needed a good cleaning too... Otherwise the lunch was very enjoyable and we would definitely return in the area. read more
